I was always a fan of Uncle Clay's House of Pure Aloha. Super sad when they closed some years back! Let me just say Island Shave Ice & Creamery is my new favorite! Sunset is the perfect blend of Strawberry, Pineapple, Banana - love the flavors, plus we upgraded to add Dole whip ice cream. Their mochi is the real kine mochi balls, super soft, and offsets the sweetness right when you need it! Grateful for the generous number of mochi balls. I peeped the ice cream and it looked creamy soft. Might have to order a pint to go next time since I'm pretty much a sucker for their shave ice now. I might try other flavors but already sold on the Sunset. The service is great, they even made sure to acknowledge us since they were still finishing up another order when we walked in. That is so rare these days and much appreciated! Love the intentionality behind the menu and the service here and will be sure to continue supporting this business. Divine timing today!

Flavors: Mango (good), Peach (awesome, but too little cuz its just a thin strip wedged between 2 flavors), lilikoi (horrible... tasted like cough syrup... ). The portions are decent sized for the price. My friends had a Mango Shave Ice with condensed milk, mochi and ice cream (he loved it) and a chocolate hazelnut ice cream (whcih she said was good) but wasn't very satisfying maybe because she wanted Halo Halo only to find out its not available when we got to the counter to order. Since its a order and pick up at counter type of self service place we didn't really have an opinion on the service, but the staff at counter was nice enough. Overall, it was a nice cozy little place with air-conditioned indoor seating as well as benches outside. Plenty of parking in the lot and surrounding area when we went, maybe because it was during down time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to hangout somewhere to cool off during this crazy Super HOT El Niño summer.

You can even make it a pre-Costco shopping delight stop. The menu is always changing but it feels like there's always something delicious to be had. My favorite is the Rocky Road where they actually add marshmallows on top and toast it for you. The Buttah Cakes has also been a recent gem that we've tried lately and it's absolutely delicious. Since it's freshly made, it's rich, creamy, and even a little scoop goes a long way. They even make waffle cones in store if you want to spruce things up for your dessert experience. The staff are friendly and handle rushes of customers well for the size of the shop. We're lucky to have a great shop like this in central Oahu so you don't have to drive all the way to town for a great ice cream fix.

The cookie and cream flavor and the coffee flavor were alright. During today's visit, the staff weren't even present. The shop was closed even though I was there during normal biz hours in the middle of the day. There was no signage indicating why they were closed. And when I called ahead, there was no answer or any message telling customers they were closed. They also didn't post anything on social media alerting guests that they'd be closed. Drove all the way here and left disappointed.

We tried their monthly specials, Matcha Oreo and Lemon Crunch Cake. Both were absolutely top tier, so delicious and honestly I wish I had gotten more! The staff was also super friendly and welcoming. One thing to note is that they don't offer samples, so you'll have to commit to your flavor choice, but the unique flavors make it worth the gamble. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

Getting there took us some time- A) my husband and I were driving from the Aiea area to Ewa Beach... on a Friday afternoon, and B) parking was a pain, but we were able to find street parking pretty quickly. We knew what we were getting into before our drive, and I'm so glad we did because it was well worth the trip! The ice cream shop is fairly small- can't hold a lot of people and no seating inside, but there's plenty of tables outside, and the weather outside was just perfect with some sun and a breeze! The line moves quickly, so ordering isn't a pain at all! I ordered their calamansi dreamsicle and my husband got their root beer float, and both were 10/10! I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could've tried more of their flavors (like their strawberry guava one)! First off, the calamansi dreamsicle was really refreshing and creamy; it had hints of citrus, with a lemon/orange taste, perfect for a warm summer afternoon! My husband had the root beer float, which had their house-made vanilla ice cream and root beer from Maui Brewing Company (I didn't even know they made root beer)! It was delicious as well- I loved that I was able to see little black specks of vanilla bean in the ice cream, and the root beer had hints of honey in it! My husband and I knew the root beer tasted different (in a good way), but couldn't put our finger on it until I read the ingredients and saw that honey was one of them! Super yummy!! All in all, my husband and I agreed that we'll be coming back again to try different flavors!

I like how you can pick three toppings for one price, and there are many varieties including my favorite grass jelly. Plus you can see the toppings near the counter. I also like how the tea wasn't excessively sweet or had a lot of ice. The drink was really refreshing and tasty. Probably the thing I liked the most was all the traditional Asian snacks at reasonable prices for purchase. Staff was friendly too. This is my new go to boba place in Kapolei.

I decided to try one of the local favorites (designated on the menu with cat paws) -- macadamia nut. It was a little too sweet for me, so I got my son to switch his brown sugar milk tea, which I liked better. The boba had good texture, but I would have liked it a little sweeter. My milk tea standards are pretty high, and this was decent. Better than Teapresso but not as good as Seven Leaves in So Cal. They have a little shopping area with snacks if you need something to go with your drink.
