FRANK jumps into the BMW and cruises up to Cap Hill for an afternoon delight. Ok it's a nice small joint with seating on main floor an upstairs loft with additional seating. You have a wall of choices and equal as many options for additional condiments to be added to your master piece. Also several refrigerators packed with specialty sodas and beer on tap. Also I'm a huge fan of MANNYS Beer and the have that on tap ( praise the lord ). Now I decided to order the CAP HILL Fried Chicken Sandwich. Wow, the perfect chicken sandwich with exploding flavors from its southern friend chicken batter used to create there signature flavor. Lil Woodys manage to cook the chicken to perfection They sliced the chicken thinner than most sandwiches which added a crispy texture to it and created very moist, salty piece of meat which was exploding of flavors. Frank added to the chicken & the bun some bacon & cheese ( I recommend doing ) to enhance and bring out more flavor. Fries must be added to round out your meal and there darn good one that are thin and crispy with salt. If your craving a burger you'll find this place well worth the adventure. The meat was melt-in-your tender and it's their bun... The burger bun is chewy and does not interfere or take away from the flavor of the actual patty. The burger is five plus stars. It was not too sweet or thick however had a perfectly balanced richness. The fries were nicely crisp and thin and was not over-bearing with starch. It definitely complimented the burger. If the cook were to describe me, he would say I was in heaven. Being Filipino I grew up eating adobo, ube, and calamansi. It is refreshing to see places introduce various flavors and branch out from the norm. I have tried their Bibimbap Burger and was equally impressed by how well the spices and flavors matched. A fancier version of Dick's is how I would describe this place! This place has a very old school ambience when you walk in, I dunno why. The kitchen area is pretty exposed, so you can see them make your burger in front of you. I had a first world problem for 5 minutes because I didn't know what to order with the different varieties of burgers they had, so I opted for the Big Woody and a Mint Chip Full Tilt Milkshake (apparently made with Molly Moon's Ice Cream?!) You can also build-your-own-burger here, and they have a bunch of extras like fries, which is what my friend ordered and I ate most of. We sat in the snug area upstairs, which was nice and cozy and a good place to eat, socialize, and talk smack about people with friends there. My burger was solid and the meat was juicy in every way imaginable---very well cooked, and I pretty much swallowed the burger in 5 minutes. Disclaimer: I also barely ate anything that Thursday so I was likely just very HANGRY. My friend's fries were alright. They were nothing special and a little too shriveled up for me, as opposed to being thick slices of potato goodness. A positive note, though, was the Sriracha Mayo that went with it---mmm, Sriracha. My milkshake was rich and flavorful with mint and chip, but it was a little too small for a $6 shake. I remember when going to other burger places with milkshakes the restaurants not only give you a full glass of said milkshake, but they also gave you the tin container that they used to make it. First impression, fries were good, onion rings were ok and the burger...a lot greasy. I was hoping Li'l Woody's would turn out to be a solid burger joint...not this time. A let down was the Four Alarm Burger which was not spicy at all. Made me weary of trusting Li'l Woody's for spicy burgers. A couple huge pluses, they're fries are one of my favorites. I don't let myself eat fries very often so it's definitely a treat when I do order them and their snack size is totally enough for two. Also, their lettuce wrap game is on point! We were exhausted after walking for a few miles with all of our luggage and came across this place for a nice burger - just what we got! I ordered The Trotter - absolutely loved their in house horseradish sauce; it added a great addition to the burger. My girlfriend had the fried chicken sandwich and said it was very moist (even when she opted for no mayo). The basket of fries is definitely a generous portion to share and very fresh and hit the spot. The guys working the front/drove were nice and made everything to order which we appreciated. My go-to is always the Big Woody with a side of fries to bump it up a notch, order it with queso.... trust, it'll be life-changing! The veggies on the burger are always crisp and fresh, the meat is grilled to a delicious juicy temperature and those buns are ALWAYS toasted perfectly! What I like most about LW is that they always have a weekly special, so whenever I wanna change it up, I'm never disappointed to try out something new! I don't know the cooks name but while the only black customers were in the restaurant were teaching their child a hand clapping game, the cook out loud made a comment of them being annoying. Lil Woody's has become my hometown burger go-to since my first date with my boyfriend. Moving from California and being a huge In-n-Out fan, he told me he knew a place that would top that for me. And he was SOOO right. Their burger patties are flavorful and non-greasy, and it's always on top of literally THE best buns I've had for burgers. I don't have a go-to because at least twice a month, we're at a Lil Woody's (cap hill is our fav) trying their burger of the week. Every single burger we try is perfectly crafted and well cooked, super flavorful and filling, and totally crave-able. We love the ambiance and the fact that they collaborate with local restaurants and music artists. It just feels good to eat good and learn more about our community.
