It was pretty cool to have tried this Michelin started resstaurant last night for dinner. With a grand high ceiling and open kitchen, I was ready and waiting to hear it, "yes chef!". Well, they didn't have the dramatics but they did plate all of our entrees and being them out synchronized, etc. "Hands!" The cocktail I had was ok. It initially tastes refreshing, but finished with a bitter taste that I didn't quite care for. So we got some table bread and this individual macaroon to start. All complementary. The baby macaroon vegetarian options was delicious. Almond butter filling and slightly sweet. That was probably the star of the meal. For my entree I got the Trumpet Royal, which was good. Not a huge portion, but interesting blend if mushrooms and glazes. I thought I'd need to have something else afterwards, but I was surprisingly full when all was said and done. Then we had a birthday girl in the group, so we brought a cake. They cut it for us. There was a cake cutting fee, but anyway. Overall pretty fun times. read more

Hubby and I tried Lilac for the first time and were impressed. The restaurant does sit in the far left corner of the lobby of the Edition hotel with a wall of beautiful greenery separating it from the lobby bar. Although we did not have any noise issue as we tend to choose earlier times for supper, I can see why some reviewers have said it gets a little loud. Service was exceptional as I would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant. I like to ask "what's your fav on the menu?" and our server was quick to say "this is YOUR experience" and took the time to explain everything on the menu in detail which was great. We ordered the diver scallops, the octopus and pork belly, the dover sole and the iberico pork secreto. The scallops were absolutely delicious. The lemon risotto and pine nuts were a bright note to the creaminess of the scallop. The octopus and pork belly was incredibly tender and flavorful. The Dover sole was the stand out entree. Salty capers, sweet tomatoes, tender flaky white fish...it was the perfect bite. Hubby really enjoyed the house made croutons on top too! The iberico pork was cooked to perfection, had a really wonderful crust and the grits were simply amazing. For dessert, we ordered the dark chocolate soufflé with pistachio gelato. Rich, decadent, not overly sweet...was the perfect way to end the night. We recently had dinner at Lilac on Water Street and overall had a very good experience. The service was truly exceptionalattentive, polished, and professional from start to finish and the ambiance is beautiful and feels like a proper high-end dining setting. The food itself was well executed across the board. The scallops, octopus, filet, and snapper were all nicely prepared, flavorful, and clearly handled with care in the kitchen. There's no question that the culinary team knows what they're doing. That said, for the price point, we left feeling the value didn't quite match the cost. Our tab came in just under $400, and while the dishes were good, they didn't feel memorable enough to justify that level of spend compared to other fine dining options in Tampa. One other not the restaurant was fairly loud, which made it a bit difficult to have a comfortable conversation at the table. For a special-occasion or upscale dining environment, a slightly quieter atmosphere would enhance the overall experience. Still, the service and setting were excellent, and we're glad we tried it. With a small adjustment to the noise level and a stronger value proposition at the current pricing, this could easily be one of the top dining experiences in the area. read more

Had a great experience at Lilac. Beautiful spot with high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, open kitchen, and plants everywhere. There was an entire team looking after me during the entire dining experience. I ordered à la carte vs doing the tasting menu. The Octopus and pork belly appetizer was delicious. The octopus was tender, as well as the pork belly, and the corn and bean succotash was the perfect accompaniment. For entree I went with the King crab risotto. The crab was perfectly cooked and the risotto had a good spinach and parmesan flavor. I finished my meal with the Bab Au Rhum. Lite and delicious. Flawless experience here. The staff were some of the nicest people you could meet. They constantly checked on you and complimented you. They explained the entire course menu and what was being brought to us. The inside is stunning. There are numerous photoworthy spots in the hotel that we ended up taking some great photos at. Had a beautiful dinner at this modern Mediterranean spot inside The Tampa EDITION. Lilac definitely lived up to the Michelin name. The vichyssoise was silky and flavorful, the truffle pasta was incredible, and the risotto with grouper was super comforting. Desserts were great too. The Mediterranean Milk Punch ended up being one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The vibes were nice, but I wish we had better seats since we were a little too close to the next table so I could hear everything they were talking about. I had dinner with a party of six at Lilac and the ambiance is busy in that cute "I'm outside, I'm social, I'm sophisticated... at least for tonight" kind of way. To get to the restaurant you do have to strut through the hotel lobby, glide past the lobby bar, and act like you're not dodging three different groups taking selfies. It's a whole runway walk before you even sit down. We were seated promptly and our server was on point from start to finish. The menu is diverse and the drinks are genuinely good. I had the lemon risotto and the lamb chop, and yes I'm saying chop because it's literally one. But that one chop understood the assignment. It was delicious, especially paired with the braised lamb Mille feuille. I ordered the mashed potatoes too and they were so perfectly creamy that they honestly deserved their own applause. Now let me talk about the diver scallops. These scallops came out looking like they went to finishing school. Fancy. Soft. And sitting on that pine nut preserved lemon risotto with rosemary embers like they were posing for a magazine cover. The flavor was giving "I don't usually brag, but today I will." The French onion bread was straight up chef's kiss. If carbs had a love language, this would be it. And the duck liver pâté came out presented like a little macaron, which felt very "oh you fancy, huh" in the best way. Even though the drinks come from the lobby bar, they still arrived surprisingly fast. Portions aren't big, so if you have an appetite, either pre-game with a snack or be prepared to order a few things. The restaurant was also so kind to bring out a birthday dessert for the table, which was the sweetest touch and made the night feel extra special. Can I just say wow? Our dinner here was outstanding. Lilac is Michelin star restaurant in a hotel lobby. We ordered their tasting menu with wine pairing, but you can also order meals à la carte. The service was outstanding, as one would expect from a Michelin restaurant. Attentive, knowledgeable staff--especially their sommelier! The ambiance is beautiful with tons of lush greenery and plants, but it was a little on the louder side, probably due to all the hard surfaces and being in a lobby. What an amazing dining experience!!!! The food, the service (Thank you Sway) and atmosphere were all perfect!!! Did the chef guided menu with accompanying wine tasting and man oh man that did not disappoint!!! Everything was incredible with perfect wine pairings. The entrees were simple but decadent, full of flavors that hit different as they passed the pallet. You're getting 8oz of food for $800 but you won't even be mad when the bill comes. I was impressed with the hotels staff as well. There's a culture there for sure but there better be for what they charge a night. Lilac is quaint and nestled in the corner of the lobby. We got to lilac and while I expected a quieter spot, the food, service, and overall experience was top notch. The restaurant itself is small and decorated in lush floral tones. The music was house and a little loud, but I've definitely been at louder. Our server Jeremy was the best. Ask for this guy if you go. He was knowledgeable and pleasant. For a Michelin starred restaurant there's no snootiness here, everyone was lovely. It's pricey, but the tasting menu was a lot of food and each course was just excellent. The texture is croissant-ish, also reminds me of the breads from a bakery in Beijing - Zhongguancu Bakery 中关村茶点 (... after 60+ years and the Cultural Revolution, it has closed down and moved to a new location early this year...) Lilac means 紫丁香 in Chinese: purple clove. So I put on as much purple as I could but ... there isn't purple in sight (until 6pm). The entrance of the hotel Edition has fake Bougainvillea (why?!?) Large plants filled the narrow high ceiling lobby and the restaurant, like an oasis. Green is the theme of the restaurant: green tiles, green booths and chairs that feel like 1960s or 80s but with clean and modern twist, the large green plants (real) bring me to now, today. (I do have green dinning chairs and love them.) The restaurant is small: six tables for two, one long table for eight, and six half circular booths that could accommodate up to four. It's empty from 5 and three more tables filled by 6pm, when by accident or planned, they brought out beautiful snap dragon to tables: thank you. Many restaurants use Riedel (Santa Fe!) but their water glasses are the best: look ordinary but is extraordinarily delicate - I think I'd three glass of water. The matte tableware Sera by Piet Boon is nice. The female hostesses is very beautiful, who asked us what kind of occasion this dinner is. It draws a black - nothing really special, just a dinner. But I don't want to disappoint her, so I said, "I just won a lawsuit." The location is great: it's cross street from Amelia Arena, a block from the 2.6 miles riverwalk (about 1.5 miles from Waterworks / a mile from Straz). The buildings in the area look young. I have now dined here three times and every single time the service and the food has been unmatched. Tampa is very lucky to have a restaurant like this. Like I said, I haven't had a non five star experience here to date and one of the times I dined in was Thanksgiving day. Thanksgiving dinner at a hotel usually in my opinion has never "wowed" me. This dinner at Lilac did. They made a fabulously curated Thanksgiving prefix dinner and not only that the Turkey and stuffing type item was gluten-free. No one has ever done that everywhere I have eaten on Thanksgiving at a hotel/restaurant which is disappointing. This time, I got to have the full exoerience and I didnt have to cook it. The presentation and the dedication to flavor and introducing different challenging flavor combinations is there with every meal even this one. Outside of the amazing Thanksgiving dinner I would say the next dish that blew my mind was the whole fish prepared tableside with polenta. I grew up eating fish and grits and it was considered like a lower class dinner for lack of a better description, but I loved it. I was skeptical about paying that price for fish and grits (and it was not fried by the way it was sautéed), but you know outside of Southern home cooking, this was the best I ever had and it was because it was a new exposure to that cultural preparation. The waiter who we have had all three times we dined in is great and he prepared it tableside and explained everything about where the dish derived and how its prepared traditionally. I hope it comes back to the menu because I had this in 2024. It is so worth the money and be prepared to eat all of it in one sitting. Next, the caviar at almost 200$. Again, I was not sure what to expect. because the photos make it seem like caviar on a huge pile of chives. It is worth the money. It comes with accutramants like fried hashbrown type potatoes and then the usual, but the preparation just made it once again, the best I have ever had. The caviar was great and for the price we got a lot of caviar. Next, their drink cart. If you dine in get the drinks prepared ta beside by your waiter. It's a great experience and all three times I dined at Lilac I didn't see anyone order it because the Lobby Hotel Bar is right on the otherside and they serve cocktails from there as well Lastly, they have maintained their Michelin star so I am so happy for that, they certainly deserve it. I can't wait to dine in again for a special occasion. The restaurant is beautiful with an open kitchen. There is only one non-ppsitive thing I have to say in this particular post, the Water Street area has become so crowded, so packed in between people who live here, people who have moved here and tourists and ALL the events and Lightning games parking is NOT GOOD. The last time I dined at the Tampa Edition (just 2 weeks ago) valet parking was 65.00, street parking was 60.00 and its just ridiculous because even during events parking used to cost 20 to 25$ on the street through park mobile. That is no fault of the restaurant, but if you are dining at the restaurant it would be nice if they validated the parking. read more

The experience was fine, but not what I expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The service was polished and the atmosphere was beautiful, but the food itself was... just decent. Nothing was bad, but nothing really wowed us either. The standout dish was the risotto. It was creamy, well-balanced, and easily the best thing. Everything else felt good but not memorable, especially for the hype and price point that comes with a Michelin star. To be fair we did not do the prefix tasting menu. This was my first experience at a Michelin star restaurant! It did not disappoint! We dined for my best friends birthday. EVERYTHING was top tier. The ambience, decor, music, staff, food, drinks, literally breathtaking. I even told my friend how cold I was and the next thing I know, our waitress brought out a warm blanket for me!! Lilac was a treat and a great opening to our first night in Tampa. Excellent and knowledgeable service. The ambience was intimate and pleasant to the eye. The food was exquisite, and well balanced. I highly recommend the pork and octopus dish as the appetizer, as well as the duck in the main course menu. The peppercorn on the duck, mixed with the other components of the dish was a fun journey to the tongue. As for the dessert, we chose the chocolate soufflé as to share, and it was not a regret. The pistachio ice cream (amazing!) and the soufflé paired well perfectly as it melted in my mouth. It was not too sweet nor too heavy surprisingly. Such a delight! Of all the dishes..the only wish I would've asked for is if the croissant could have more of a fresh crunch to them. Overall, Lilac is a bit pricy in my opinion. But if you want something that's reliable in taste, and something that is well done in culinary techniques, I would recommend this spot. This restaurant has been on my list for a while. I finally had a reason to go. Reservations process was easy enough. The staff corresponds well to explain things. Arriving, you have to valet, which adds $43 to your cost. The hotel lobby is beautiful. I loved the plants. It smells amazing. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and we'll spoken. The hors d'oeuvres were good, but didn't blow me away. I ordered the pork belly and octopus appetizer which was my favorite dish. The wagyu entree added $35 to the meal and ended up being three small strips. They were delicious, but barely substantial for that price. The chocolate walnut cremieux was delicious. All in, I enjoyed the meal. But the best part was my date. The stairs are fun for pictures too. I am happy I've tried it, but it didn't blow me away. read more

What a fantastic restaurant we have here in Tampa Bay! Lilac was an excellent culinary experience. Beautifully decorated with multiple foliage throughout the lobby and restaurant. I also love how they have an open kitchen concept, you can see right into the kitchen and watch them work. They have a Price Fixe four course dinner where you get to choose your appetizer, entree and dessert from their many choices. Everyone receives all of the Hors D'oeuvres as the first course. They served Pain Lyonnais: Milk bread, sweet onions and thyme, Gooseberry & Soubise Tartelette: Puree vidalia onion, fresh tarragon, verjus reduction, Maine Lobster Feuillantine: Calabrian chili aioli, chive and the Poultry Liver Mousse: port wine gelee, savory almond croissant. My favorite was the Maine lobster feuillantine. It was very rich and delicious. There are 6 appetizer offerings to choose from. I chose the Heritage Pork Belly & Spanish octopus: spicy nduja sausage, sweet corn succotash. It was a bit spicy but the pork belly and octopus were outstanding and cooked to perfection. My friend chose the Diver scallops with pine nut preserved lemon risotto, rosemary embers. Also delicious. For my entree I went with the Colorado Lamb Loin: Fines herbes crust, lentils du Puy, apple mostarda, dukkah spice and sauce nicoise. It was beautifully presented and cooked with excellent layers of flavor. For dessert we shared the Dark chocolate soufflé for 2 with pistachio gelato and saffron anglaise, so rich and chocolaty but it was a perfect end to the meal. Service was fantastic, they have a wonderful wine list as well as craft cocktails. It was a meal to remember, that's for sure. The restaurant is located in the Tampa Edition hotel, as you walk into the lobby you go to the left and it's at the end of the lobby. We tried Lilac as a part of a recent family get together, and it was an experience that excelled in every conceivable way. Tucked in the corner past the Edition lobby bar, Lilac feels meaningfully separate from the hustle and bustle of the lobby. Otherwise ambience is similar to the rest of the Edition with lots of white and greenery. Service was excellent, and both of our wait staff were extremely knowledgeable about the menu and were able to direct us to options suited to our tastes. I loved the "choose your own adventure" aspect to the menu - many restaurants of this caliber tend to have a completely set menu, so the ability to choose appetizers, entrees, and desert was appreciated. The tuna appetizer was excellent, as was the salmon entree. The chocolate soufflé was delicious, but definitely became a bit of a team effort to finish. (It was BIG.) A few days ago my girlfriends and I had the pleasure of dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant, where the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Worth mentioning that this is a very small restaurant, hence it is hard to get a reservation there. As for the food, each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the chef's skill and creativity. The flavors were bold and harmonious, and the presentation was exquisite. HORS D'OEUVRES were split between all of us for everyone to taste - delicious! We chose Autumn Vegetable Salad, Spice Braised Rabbit and White Truffle Tajarin as our appetizers. As for the main course we opted in for Atlantic Swordfish, Aged Colorado Lamb Chop and Glazed Short Rib. Desserts were out of this world: Caramelized Honey, Chocolate Walnut Crémeux, and Pecan Crème Bar. My husband and I are both vegan. We were staying at The Edition so decided to see if Lilac could accommodate our diets. We sat down and decided on the tasting menu which is chefs choice. The chef made all of the vegan dishes up as he went along and they were all amazing! The flavours and different textures made it quite the experience. Don't listen to the naysayers complaining about not having a 3 star experience at a 1 star restaurant. Lilac absolutely lived up to their star and was worth every penny; around $250 for a Michelin meal with wine pairing is the perfect price point; and I absolutely recommend the wine pairing. We had the chef's table and the ambiance was upscale, beautiful, and fun. We had the pleasure of trying all the hours d'oeuvres and they all were delicious in their own unique way, but the liver mousse set the tone for what was about to be an extravagant meal. Caviar service was a pleasant surprise. I expected a fairly traditional service with the twist of a potato pancake and sundried tomato-laced creme, based on the menu description. What was served was even better than I imagined. I could only describe it as tasting of your childhood and adulthood at the same time. The truffle pasta appetizer wasn't just a homemade pasta laced with truffle oil with a sprinkle of truffle on top. They shaved the truffle at the table until we said "when", Olive Garden style. It was the best truffle dish I'd had since my visit to 3 star Alinea. I know I've mentioned two dishes that are upcharges so far. You don't have to pay more for a memorable experience. The rabbit appetizer was the best rabbit preparation I've ever had, and sat a close second to the truffle pasta. My husband would tell you the diver scallops were better, but how often do you get the opportunity to enjoy rabbit? If you're a duck and black pepper fan you're gonna love the duck entree. It was perfectly cooked and crusted with a flavor-packed peppery spice blend. If you're not a dessert person get the savory goat cheese option, but I promise if you get the dessert wine pairing it will take the cheese to the next level. The moscatel served with it was one of the top 3 highlights of my meal. The service was what you'd expect at a one star spot. Nearly perfect, only missed pouring my dessert wine when the cheese came and had to ask. They handled my group of rowdy friends with grace; and it's conveniently located in basically the only late night upscale bar in the area for keeping a great night going. And I will say that it's probably not the Michelin quality of a NYC one star restaurant, but it was a nice meal. There were a couple things that were not quite Michelin level. First, the wine pairing was a bit off and didn't quite match the dishes served. And second the main dish of red snapper and shrimp cataplana was good, but served with a giant bowl of green grits, which was unnecessary and took away from the dish. The food was mediocre at best and even what attempted to be borderline good had temperature issues. It's in the midst of a busy and lively lobby at The Edition and certainly doesn't quantify as a unique experience. Finally only a few months ago Tampa restaurants were awarded Michelin Stars. The three restaurants awarded the Michelin Stars were Rocca, Koya and Lilac. We have eaten at Rocco which was amazing! Last night we finally made it to The Tampa EDITION to have dinner for a date night at Lilac! Lilac was exceptional and did not disappoint! The ambience, food and service was exceptional! Not sure why it got such a low rating but I enjoyed every minute of it. Lilac is a Michelin Star restaurant located in Tampa Edition Hotel. It is a fixed menu only which cost $150 per person and you can include wine pairing for $80 each. You get all the hor d'oeuvres and you select one dish from the appetizer and one dish from the main. Overall had a great experience! Simply AMAZING. Everything from the service shout out to Jeremy and Josue! They were phenomenal. The food was so good. Everything was perfect. The restaurant is very small restaurant you will need a reservation. I counted about maybe 10 to 12 tables. It's not large at all. It is in the bottom of the edition in Tampa, channel side. Wonderful experience they change the menu every season it was my anniversary and they treated us like royalty pretty much. I will be back every season. read more

Where to start. I made reservations stating...no onions. Upon arrival. I stood at the host stand. Ignored. A party of 4 walked up behind me. Greeted them. Then looked at me. "Oh, you aren't with them?" No. No I'm not since I stood here by myself with no hello. No nothing. Finally. Anything you don't like by the host? Onions! Sat at the table. Waiter: anything you don't like? No onions. Take a guess at the first thing they brought me? ONION bread! This is a Michelin restaurant? Nope! Keep in mind, I stated this prior to my reservation. They knew about it a day before and took no mind to the request to be prepared ahead of time. Is that a joke? Ppl would get up and napkins would stay unfolded in chairs for 5-7 minutes. My water would stay empty for 30sec-1min. NOT ACCEPTABLE! The chef did come out, apologize and then serve a caviar hashbrown to make up for the mistake. Decent. Not enough salt. Macaron was really good. Maybe the best thing of the night. First course was their octopus and pork belly. REALLY GOOD! Showcased the skill. Pork was delectably tender. Octopus tender and cooked to perfection. Second dish, their Duck Au Poivre with duck leg. Carrots, fantastic. Duck loin, it was okay. A little tough and grisly. The knife needs to be sharpened. Cutting was difficult. Duck leg, meat was wonderful but the skin was limp and not crispy. It was flat. Let me say this, it's NOT that I wanted my meal comped. However, my steak has been served incorrectly at Longhorn and they've comped my meal to make up for it. These guys, not even a thought. Honestly, it was meh at best. They should lose their star and call a spade a spade. I'd choose another place in a heartbeat. read more

We dined at Lilac to celebrate my birthday, and it was amazing. Lilac is a modern Mediterranean restaurant and definitely a splurge worthy dinner choice. They offer a four-course prix fixe dinner menu using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. The ambiance is one of a kind with the emerald green booths and the immense amount of live plants that create a private dining space from the bar. The poultry mousse liver and tuna tartare were some of my favorites. I would suggest going with the wine pairings. The service, attention to detail and presentation of food is top notch. read more

As someone who is a frequent "food tourist," I was excited to go to Lilac - a Michelin star restaurant in my own background - yay! The restaurant is located on the lobby level of the EDITION Hotel. It was pretty crowded and very loud and there is no formal waiting area, so you're just shoved up against a wall until the host calls on you. The food overall was good, but it lacked the imagination that I expected. My favorite thing that I ate all night was the bread that was put on the table. We did not do the wine pairing, but opted to get ala carte glasses of wine and cocktails instead. The service here was fantastic and major kudos to the staff who were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. As someone who has been to several Michelin star restaurants, I expected more, especially at the price point. There was a lack of general creativity and presentation that most Michelin star restaurants have. It was underwhelming. I would not return. read more

I am going to admit that after reading poor reviews I was nervous about eating here, but the entire experience was fantastic. The service was absolutely amazing. The menu is a prefix where you receive hor d'oeuvres for the table and then everyone selects their own appetizer, entree and dessert. I really like this because you get to pick what you are eating. Many Michelin star restaurants have a tasting menu and you don't know what you are getting until it is served. That experience can be fun, I am not knocking it, I just prefer to order from a menu myself. I posted photos of what we had, here was the rundown: For the table: ricotta artichoke ravioli, smoked grouper in phyllo wrap, sweet onion bread, and a poultry liver mousse in an almond croissant. Apps: Braised rabbit, Chilled Maine Lobster Main: Filet mignon and Lamb chop with lamb sausage (I just want to say the lamb was fantastic and I want to return for that) Dessert: Olive oil lemon poppy cake, bombolonis Finale: almond cookies We did the wine pairing which was nice but not necessary. I feel like you can easily end up drinking too much and it takes away from the food. I am sure someone will disagree with me here. I also want say, the portions were very nice - especially the desserts. I know this place is new and they just received a star, but I hope they do not go and make the plates smaller. Above all the service here is wonderful. Very white glove. The staff gets 5 stars. They were friendly and highly attentive, fold your napkin when you walk away from the table, new plates and silverware per each course..you get it. Entering Lilac could feel more accommodating. The host stand is just very awkwardly positioned. and you just dont know where to stand, theres no waiting area. you feel cut off from the bar area and then theres no other real seating. The food just felt ok. Everything was good. The hors d'oeuvres were fine. i wanted to like it more. The Lamb, Diver scallop, and filet. highlights. The desserts were aesthetic but flavor wise not there. You didnt want to indulge in your last bites of the meal. you didnt HAVE to have it. I just think expectations were too high here and i think for the mark up on price didnt feel all that worth it. read more
