The most prominent memory I have of this place was how controlling the server was over the "unlimited" breakfast potatoes that included with my order. She said I couldn't share them with anyone at the table and she accused me of doing it threatening to not refill my potatoes. I had only asked for 2 refills. We yelped looking for a quaint place to have breakfast with good ratings, and came across Lil Bits, it did not disappoint! The server was sweet, attentive, and friendly. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs, my husband got the I Don't Care for Eggs plate. The food was amazing, the portions huge, and the gravy is the bomb, it had flavor and great consistency, not just a flavorless paste. The chicken fried steak isn't stringy, it was done just right. My husband's meal was biscuits, gravy, sausage and home fries. He said his was delicious also, and the accompanying homemade salsa was just the right spice. Came to Lil'Bits for breakfast on Labor day Monday. We were spending a night at Grover Beach and were super excited to try out the highly rated Lil'Bits which was within walking distance from our Airbnb. The hostess welcomed us and seated us right away. We got the brewed coffee, but it lacked any flavor and seemed watered down. We liked the Momlette, which is actually a veggie scramble, not an omelette. The hash browns on the side were greasy and unappealing. The ham french toast looked interesting in the menu, but we were unprepared for the gigantic slice of ham. The ham was super greasy and not-yummy. The food also had black specks (of burnt food?) in it, potentially from being cooked in an unwashed skillet, because the food itself wasn't burnt. While this style of cooking can add deep smokey flavors, we didn't like them so much (burnt food can give you cancer). read more

We found comfortable well spaced seating in the parking lot and Stephanie, our server, took our drink order. The coffee is good. I ordered the bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette with home fries and whole wheat toast. The best home fries I've ever eaten! Crisp, good amount of onions and hot! The omelette was a perfect balance of egg and filling. The wife had the Popeye special, eggs scrambled with spinach, bacon, mushrooms and cheese served over a bed of home fries. She had the biscuit, a tender, buttery hunk of goodness served with delicious strawberry jam. I do wish more patrons followed the signage and wore their masks while on foot....whaddaya gonna do? Stumbled across this place driving home from vacation. We were starving and this place had good reviews. At first it seemed a little small but there's a larger room for dining. I ordered the frugal gourmet, which is three edds, potatoes, and toast. My mom also got it and had a biscuit. The biscuit was different than anything we ever had. I think I've reviewed this place previously. It's always been good here. Today I want to leave a review on the customer service we received from our server, Amy. We had gone to a closer place near our home that we frequent but were so disappointed today we left. --We had waited an hour and a half after we placed our order to receive food, and still hadn't. So we left. My husband remembered Lil Bits. We've been here several times and tried it today, even though it's risky for a weekend, they are so busy and our kids were so hungry. We got there and they were fairly packed, but were able to seat us inside in the back (so thankful) and after hearing the experience we had at the first place, the server was shocked and said she'd get our order for food in quickly, and then get drinks. Everything came out in less than 10m. Our kids ate all their eggs and pancakes and bacon. Amy was attentive, kind and considerate and she saved the day. One more thing, she brought my 3 year old his milk in a to-go soda cup (instead of glass or big tall plastic, so I appreciated this) and she cut the lid a little bit and made a sippy cup. She's wonderful and we are thankful for her. We will be going here for family breakfast days instead of our old place. read more

So for a Sunday afternoon - I am not going to lie Lil' Bits was our second choice as the first choice was absolutely packed. I am glad that we ended up here though :) For a holiday weekend brunch time - it was only a 20 minute wait. They have indoor & outdoor seating. We decided to sit outside on their round tables outside - it took a while for them to clean it up while we waited but they seemed busy inside so who am I to judge. We had one waitress for all 11 of us - she was attentive & very friendly for dealing with such a big group. I think that when the kitchen staff starts to get backed up - the owner (I think she was the owner) rings this bell behind the counter - she came out & apologized to us but we didn't care - if anything - that's a good system they have. BTW; since we had a large group they automatically tacked on Gratuity on our final tab - on the menu it also states that they charge a dollar for splitting the check. I ordered a black coffee & they have different style mugs that different people bring in - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I hit the jackpot with 'Mom's Mug 1998' & I was pretty stoked about it, lol. Don't judge. They have a great selection of breakfast & lunch options - always a plus for my picky self. I ordered the Mom's Favorite Scramble AKA 'The Momlet' which has onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, & avocado. You can choose between bread or biscuits - I TOTALLY RECOMMEND their homemade biscuits - YUMMERS! Along with their homemade strawberry jam - BOMB! If you get nothing but their biscuits & homemade strawberry jam - then you will be good, I promise. Lol. You can substitute home fries for biscuits & gravy for $2 - not bad - I wish I ate meat because man it was tempting! It looked so good. All in all - I totally recommend dude! This cute, sleepy little hole in the wall diner is located back from the street in a little strip mall. Plenty of free parking is available in the lot they share with a kids' clothing store & hydroponics shop. We were greeted warmly by one of the owners - Jenna - and seated immediately. Our food came out fast and perfect: Joey's Special - ground beef & spinach scrambled in 3 eggs, seeved with a biscuit and AYCE home fries. The eggs were chunky with ground beef and fresh spinach, the potatoes oniony and crunchy in parts. The biscuit was so good - sliced in half and griddled til crunchy on the cut parts! OMG so super yum with butter and homemade blackberry jam that was on the table! Western Omelette - served with hash browns and a biscuit, bf's huge omelette was stuffed with bacon and sausage and tomatoes and cheese. Hot homemade salsa went perfectly with this one - yum! We both scarfed our biscuits and almost finished the blackberry jam that was on the table! That mildly sweet, chunky with berries stuff was great, and turned the biscuit into a little shortcake dessert, mmmmm!! Jenna checked on us throughout our meal, and was on top of her game AND warm. She was super sweet to give me a to-go cup for my decaf, and even sweeter when she came outside to see if I needed a warmup as we sat on her outside tables, composing our reviews. This is the kinda neighborhoody place you want to come every day, because the food is great, the prices are super reasonable, and the service is so warm. Tables here are comfy and the atmosphere is both casual and fun (Trivial Pursuit cards sit at every table)! Spending the weekend in Arroyo Grande and searched yelp for a good breakfast spot. Lil Bits had good reviews so we tried it and were very happy. It was pretty packed around 10am but we were seated within a few minutes. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious! I really had high hopes for Lil Bits in Oceano because it had all these great reviews on Yelp.... I live nearby and wanted it to be great. But it wasn't. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. The eggs weren't scrambled, they came out flat like an omelette (see photo). Tasted spongy and was shaped like a flat Frisbee. The bacon had no taste other than fat. The pancakes were fair. My wife ordered the Frugal Breakfast (potatoes, poached egg and toast). The potatoes were good, the egg was hard (overcooked, the yolk was like a hard-boiled egg). The coffee I had tasted very watery. The server forgot we were at an outside table. So it all added up to a big let down. To top it all off, we waited for 15 minutes to get a table here and the wait would have been even longer had we not taken an outside table in the hot sun. On the way out there were about 30 people waiting to get in and one woman asked us if it was worth the wait. We said no. I recommended she and her husband go to Denny's up the street (at 4th near Pismo Outlets). While it doesn't sound "authentic" "mom and pop" and "home cooking" what I do know is that the Denny's there does eggs perfect, the coffee is good and the bacon is spot on. read more

Food was greasy and full of black burnt bits. Portion sizes were humongous and we wasted most of it. The coffee didn't taste that great either. Service was fast and they refilled my coffee on time, although, to be honest, I wasn't really craving any more of it. We ordered the Momlette and a Joe's sandwich. The omlette looked mutilated - it was actually a scramble I guess? It tasted ok. But the potatoes on the side were burnt. Each person could easily eat for less than $8, including coffee. Coffee is pretty decent quality and served in character mugs, the ones you'd drink out of at home. Biscuits and gravy: available a la carte, in half and full portions too! Smart. Lil Bits is a Lil Disappointing. Two times we tried here and I wanted to like it--it's a fun little space and the mismatched coffee cups are charming,but the waits are always long, the food is expensive (but still good--just don't bother with sunny-side-up eggs) and the service (although mostly nice) feels unorganized and isn't great. I've felt lucky to get two cups of coffee; to get a glass of water, I've had to ask at least four people before I see a glass. One server even picked up a glass left by a previous customer, thinking she'd already given it to me. Luckily I did not drink it, because I noticed the chew marks on the straw. A+ biscuits and gravy though, so maybe skip dining in and get your breakfast to go. read more

My omelette was over cooked, there were about 3 tiny pieces of mushroom. My potatoes (home fries) were literally burnt to a crisp. I probably got 3 decent pieces.
