Erin is the best. I am a fan of watches. I have always wanted a Rolex. I visited the store and Erin was warm and inviting. We looked at several watches and I couldn't really decide. We had been to their store yesterday. I am all for showing the importance of being a jewelry store but here it was different. They hardly had anyone in the store and we were still asked to wait outside. From the glass outside, I saw the representative seated browsing something on her iPad. We were patient. She turns up after 10 minutes and starts talking to my wife in the most condescending tone. We wanted to exchange our Rolex for a new one. In their terminology, it is selling the old one and buying a new one. We finally got to the same page and I told her yes, we want to sell the old one and buy a new Rolex. Now came the next statement from her. If you didn't buy it from our store, we have to send the details to the local police station for clearance. That shocked me more than anything else. I told her that I have the receipts of purchase which should clarify the authenticity and the fact that the watch isn't stolen. She clearly had no idea of the process and said "you can get the receipt if you want". So I again patiently asked her "what is the process? Do you need the receipt or not?". She goes in to talk to the "manager" and comes back with the response "Even if you have a receipt proving that the watch was bought legitimately, we still will reach out to the police for clearance". While the process is good, how is it relevant for anyone who has all the documents. If I walk in without a receipt, then this process makes absolute sense. We gulped this down since we were at the store already (but my patience was running very thin by now) and decided to browse the models to find one that we like. To that the representative gets back with a statement "we only have exhibition watches. None for sale". I flipped at this point. Why have a store when you aren't selling watches? Bottom Line: I am one who weighs my words. Here goes. She was extremely racist and it didn't seem like she wanted to interact with us. Neither did she want to do business with us. The manager I feel was completely complicit as he/ she didn't even bother to come and talk. I am not disappointed with the jeweler. What disappoints me is that Rolex, a brand that I so adore, has folks of such poor thought process associated with it. We then walked into the Cartier store. Of all the watch stores I've visited here in the NOVA/DC area, this is the only one where the sales people are watch people first, sales people second. Their response to my test question, if I could get on the waiting list for a Panerai 194, was perfect. It wasn't, "Sure thing, though it will take a while" or anything like that. It was truthful ("Uh, that would be pretty useless for us to do that") and helpful ("It's a limited edition that was only made for one year some years ago. Even if we were to come across one, our regular customers would have priority.") The salesperson went on to suggest places to look for the Pam194, and his suggestions denoted a knowledge far and above the other places I've looked at. This is the one watch store where I felt like I didn't know more about watches then the people on the other side of the counter. The store has a wide range of watches, carrying Hublot, Panerai, Breitling, the obligatory Rolex, etc., etc.. The staff is professional, courteous, and most importantly, exhibits the passion of a watch enthusiast. read more

This is my second time purchasing a watch from Liljenquist. I can certainly tell you that it is the customer service that makes the experience. Let me tell you why I chose this place and why you should ask for/work with Abraham K. As a watch fanatic/watchuseeker, I spend a lot of time in this store just looking and appreciating the vast selections they offer. However, one thing that I really appreciate from Abraham is how he isn't pushy. He genuinely enjoys watches and is in the business of sharing his interest of watches with his customers. I see other employees who stare at your wrist right when you walk into the store to gauge if you have the money to afford a nice watch. If you aren't wearing a nice timepiece, the other employees won't even bat an eye at you. Abraham is unlike them. He will give you time to look around and is very pleasant when he does walk over to say hi. Today on 7/3, Abraham did something that solidified my decision to make him my sole provider of all watch needs and I will GLADLY be recommending him to all my friends. I had asked him to send my wedding watch to get it serviced due to its time keeping being out of standards. Abraham gave me weekly texts to inform me whether or not he had heard from the service center. Mind you, Abraham would even contact me on his days off to keep me updated. I had a very important event to attend on July 4th, so I was on my way to pick it up today. My GPS said I would be arriving at Liljenquist 4 minutes past their official closing time (6:04PM). He texted "Don't worry, if we close our doors, I will still get you your watch". When I got there at 6:04PM and stood outside the door with the yellow service-receipt in hand, one of his coworkers said "Hey! We're closed." When I saw Abraham in the back cleaning up and waved to him, he greeted with a warm smile and rushed up to get my watch and with paperwork. Seeing Abraham gather my watch from behind the counter, the coworker (a white haired middle aged gentleman) walked away from the glass door and threw his pen against the back wall. This left a FOUL taste in my mouth as a loyal customer. His reaction was completely UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCLASSY, and INAPPROPRIATE. Frankly, the coworker's tantrum just made Liljenquist look bad. Abraham picked the pen off the floor, walked out and gave me the watch with all the paper work to sign. I apologized if I had gotten him in trouble after seeing his coworker's tantrum and he said "Hey, don't worry about it at all. I just want you to have your time piece for July 4th". Folks, this is the kind of guy you want handling your precious timepieces, whether it be a few thousand dollars or a priceless family heirloom. Abraham - your fantastic customer service has kept me as a Liljenquist customer, especially after what your coworker did today. Thank you so much for taking care of me and being a rockstar. 5 stars for sure. Oh, with regards to purchasing watches, some salespersons can be sleaze balls. Unlike others, Abraham is a straight shooter. Dealing with him didn't feel like pulling teeth at all. I've been to Lijenquist & Beckstead several times over the years. They definitely have some decent staff, particularly the redheaded woman whose name I do not know. They've always been relatively courteous and without hesitation verified the authenticity of my unusually inexpensive second hand Rolex (though i'm pretty sure Rolex dealers are required to do this). However other staff members have struck me as slightly condescending, perhaps this is because as a younger gentlemen in my 20's they may not consider me to be a serious purveyor of fine time pieces. Slightly concerning for sure, since we're in DC and there are plenty of us younger folks with very respectable incomes. Anyways, my father who lives in the sticks (western NY) surprisingly purchased a 1950's era Omega Seamaster, when he was a young buck in the Navy ($80 dollars allegedly!). As my interest in watches grew I encouraged him to revive his watch and have it serviced by an authorized Omega dealer (not many in his locale, if any). So I turned to L&B at Tysons II for its first proper servicing in a half century. The folks there provided me with a quote for a standard cleaning and service (~500), they additionally noted the dial and hands were damaged by precipitation/water and suggested a dial refurb as well as installation of a set of new hands. The whole shebang was to be ~700ish. I'll admit when I dropped the watch off it took me about a year to make a decision to go ahead with the service/refurb. Nonetheless, to their credit they certainly had my watch in safekeeping for quite sometime and didn't sell it on Ebay. Eventually I took the plunge and decided to go ahead and spend more money than the watch was worth to save it for future generations and continue my fathers legacy. From the time I approved the repair, til the time the watch actually came back was damn near a YEAR. I had to make several inquiries into the status of the service. I think this may have just been a cautious approach to ensure I was serious about getting the watch serviced, and to establish i'd actually pay for it. Anyhow, I approved not only the service, but also the dial refub, and the fitment of new hands. When the watch finally came back, they only serviced the watch, standard cleaning/service. The dial was not refurbished nor were new hands installed. Slightly disappointing, to say the least. To L&B's credit, they did install a new hesalite crystal and crown (at some point in it's history an non OEM crown was installed). So I certainly believe the service was of high quality, no doubts there. Also, they only charged me for the service/cleaning, and not the full amount. Unfortunately though, the case was not polished, as mentioned the other service options I requested were not performed. Again, i'm sure the service was great, but receiving a watch that looks the exact same as when you dropped it off is disconcerting. So in the end, the watch will survive and function fine for the future, but looks as beat up as it did when I dropped it off. I recently took my Rolex Turn-o-Graph to an independent Certified 21st Century Watchmaker at Herndon Watch & Clock and was thrilled with the results. Please see my review. It was cheaper, better, and came out FANTASTIC. I'd recommend Herndon W&C for your needs, give a local business a shot. Watchmaking is a dying craft, and I feel in every respect it is better to support a local small business that is employs a craftsman, in an industry that is dying a death worthy only of print media! Although I have only used Liljenquist & Beckstead (Tyson's location) to handle the servicing of a watch, I was very impressed with both their selection of watches and their customer service. Even though my watch had to be sent to the manufacturer for major service, Liljenquist kept me updated on the process every step of the way and gave me an accurate price estimate at the outset. I'm certainly not an expert in timepieces (mine was an engagement gift from my wife), but they have an extensive collection of high end watches. This place is as good as it gets. I spent a long long long time searching for a great engagement ring at a good price, and along the way, I dealt with numerous people in the diamond business without much success. I ended up buying the stone through a warehouse and then having the Master Goldsmith at Liljenquist & Beckstead make the ring. The Goldsmith is named Steven Clarke. He is the man! He never complained that I had bought the stone elsewhere and he didn't upsell me on the ring. He drew me various pictures along the way and we discussed in detail the ring I was hoping for. It turned out perfectly, except that my girlfriend had told me the wrong size. He immediately re-sized the ring to fit her finger at no charge. I cannot recommend Steven Clarke at Lilenquist & Beckstead enough. I realize I sound like a commercial, but it's the truth:). By going to a top-notch goldsmith, I feel I was able to get a ring comparable to Cartier in quality at about $4000 cheaper than it would have been. read more

I will not come back here for anything! It has been almost a year since I had a brand new Tag Heuer Carrera for bracelet resizing. I started to worry after the process took longer than usual. Not until I got home for a closer look that I saw scratches on the watch. Scratches will happen, but I should be the one putting that and not one who should know about higher cost watches. Carelessness is unacceptable. Lesson learned! The ladies at Fashion Time in shopping malls are more careful and does a better job with my Citizens. Went in today to shop for a new watch for myself. Whilst looking around, I found a piece that I liked. I asked the lady in pink shirt to show me the timepiece, instead she cut me off and said she will bring someone. Waited 10 minutes and no one came to help me. She was busy following around a family who seemed to have absolute zero knowledge in watches lol. I mean business is important but how can you have business if no ones willing to help but follow around people who were just trying on random pieces. On another note, she could barely explain anything about watches besides being "swissmade". Come on. Breguet, Tudor, Rolex, Breitling, Patek. Most of expensive watches y'all carry, besides A lange und Söhne, are made in Swiss. Don't tell me you were going to say that A lange was made in Swiss too haha. I was happy I found a place that sold Breguet since I was thinking to purchase a Breguet Marine, but if no one is going to show up and all they can tell me about the watch is swissmade, will take business elsewhere. My wife wanted a new complicated watch, and we were visiting relatives in the DC metro area. On Friday, August 15 we traveled to the store to select a new watch. We had a good idea of what we wanted, and were prepared to buy. We were dressed casual-but-not-shabby,. just like many of the other mall-goers. Even though the store was almost empty except for staff, we were completely ignored. Staff members talked to a couple other customers while we were standing there, and then when it became clear that we weren't going to leave right away, all three of them disappeared into the back or out the front door. When we finally gave up and decided to leave, we noticed they came out from the back to watch us go. It's one thing to act like a pretentious jerk when your watch business is appointment-only, but acting this way when your business is in a shopping mall is inexcusable. We'll never go back there, and we'll let as many people as we can know about this store's attitude. The one benefit of the visit is that now my wife knows exactly what she wants, and instead of buying at the place where she saw it, we'll order it through a local jeweler and keep the tax revenue here in Tennessee. read more

After being a customer of Linquist for over two decades I bought my most expensive watch and purchase yet, a Breitling watch. Close to fifteen thousand dollars the watched worked for nine months. Linguist after two months of repairs, never calling me back and being difficult when I did call, got the watch back. When telling the store manager who had no idea what was wrong with the watch I wanted to return it because the length of repair spooked me and I'm aftraid of having a watch this expensive that might not make it past warranty date. He first turned into an arrogant robot then hung up on me.. This was a watch for my husbands lifetime of hard work, not just a passing fancy! Every aspect of this watch failed within nine months. I have purchasers 3 watches from this store, they are great to deal with when purchasing but are the worst when it comes to any type of service. My wife's tag stopped working and only needed a battery change, well the store tried to get her to do a complete cleaning at 400.00. My wife declined and said to just change the battery. We got the watch back a few weeks later and it only worked for a week. We had to return it and pay the 400 they required. Before that the watch worked perfectly. I recently brought my Brietling in for a battery change and once again they insisted that I get the 400 dollar cleaning and told me that a battery change is 240.00, I took my watch back and will find another dealer. I had the store help us with my husband's wedding band after major crises (due to other inadequate jewelers) could not be avoided 2 days prior to our wedding. Bonnie helped us and was great. She assured us the ring we ordered and had over-nighted to the store would be sized appropriately by their jeweler who has apparently worked on the Harry Winston diamond. As I wouldn't be able to put into the day-of activities on my wedding day to travel 2.5 hours to pick the ring up, my brother went and got it for me. I put the ring on my husband's finger during the ceremony and noticed it seemed a little too big. My husband being considerate of my angst for the ring was kind and said it would be fine, we'd deal with it another day. We then went home, to FL, and after a month of wearing it he said it fell off completely while he was at work. I went to another store to see what the size of the ring is and found out the jeweler NEVER SIZED IT! I spoke with Bonnie again, she told me to send the ring back to them and "they would take care of it." I asked her for further documentation for the adjustments to the ring. She complied. I sent the ring back via UPS and called just now to verify the ring had arrived. A foreign woman, with a fairly heavy accent answered the telephone and when I asked questions like "did the ring arrive?" "when will the jeweler be able to look at it,"? "when will Bonnie be around so I can speak to 1 person only"? the woman on the phone became very curt and rude to me. She said she will have Bonnie call me in the morning without verifying my name nor my telephone number. When I called back to speak with the store manager, the foreign speaking woman answered the phone again and was rude again! I would have taken my well-deserved money elsewhere! I'll never consider this place again. All I know is if the ring doesn't fit perfectly when it comes back to me, I may have to drive from Daytona to VA just to make sure things get done correctly. So sad the most important piece of jewelry I'll ever give my husband is being treated like a piece of tin. VERY DISAPPOINTING! read more

I collect watches. I go a lot of Authorized Dealers and have never been treated as poorly as when I went here. For reference I'm 22, so I don't often look like a "sale" but I walked in with cash in hand ready to buy a Milgauss and walked out still with my cash and no watch. I was talked down too and demeaned. The salesman wouldn't even take the watch I wanted out from behind the glass. I was too mad to get his name but he was a heavy set 6' middle eastern looking man. When I asked if they had any Oris watches for sale just out of curiosity, he scoffed and said they "Only carry Swiss brands." (Oris is Swiss btw) I got fed up with his attitude eventually, so I flashed my VC Patrimony in his face and said I had to leave for lunch and would go buy my watch elsewhere (the stunned look on his face was the only reason this store gets a single star).
