My friend recommended this as the best breakfast burrito in LA. I take his opinions on food seriously... Oh boy was I disappointed. Most breakfast burritos have a bit more going on.. this one had eggs, beans and chorizo in it. No potatoes, no cheese, to my knowledge. Everything was sort of bland and undersalted. Not much going on texturally. The salsa they served with it was actually pretty spicy, which I like, but again, not a ton of flavor goin' on. It was also huge (do not order the large burrito unless you want to eat the equivalent of two chipotle burritos). The coffee was not good. Worse than diner coffee. Slow service (took them nearly 10 minutes to make the burrito with no one else in the store), high prices. No ambience. I'm probably never coming back, but I'm glad I tried it. read more

Stopped by this little spot while in Malibu and I am so glad I did. The food was delicious. The lady did warn me it would be 35 mins for 2 Tortas. Totally worth the wait. My first visit to Lily's was amazing! Ordered online about an hour ahead since their website says there may be delays. When we finally arrived to pick up our order, the scene was bustling! Lots of folks eating outside with their dogs. Walked inside to pick up our order, and though they were busy, they seemed very organized and on top of it. We arrived about 15 mins later than they said our food would be ready and it was still hot! We ordered two Pancho burritos and added papas. The burritos were a little heavy on the beans but WOW were they good! Everything I would want in a breakfast burrito. The best surprise of all was how amazing their house salsa was. I'm not the type of person to leave a low review on a business, but I felt like something needs to be said. I'm not sure if I'm just spoiled from having burritos in so cal for my entire life, but the burritos here are way overhyped. My boyfriend and I both got carne asada burritos and yes, it was huge, but 90% of it was just rice. It was okay, but I feel like I would've been better off going to a taco truck. They also only have two salsas, their classic one which is too spicy, and a watered down mild red sauce. The only thing that could've saved the burrito was a good verde salsa, but they unfortunately did not have one. The service was okay, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. We tried the breakfast burrito here and it was so good! The chorizo was very flavorful and went really well with the eggs and beans. The medium burrito is $11 (which seems a little pricy at first) but it is huge and stuffed with ingredients - I was only able to finish half of one! The burrito also came with salsa on the side and these added a nice kick. The only downside was the wait for our food so I'd probably give this place 4.5 stars. I wanted it to be great. The line was insane, that's fine. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and everyone was outside getting a coffee from the nearby coffee shop, and it's was nuts inside of Lily's. Quesadilla was good, I hope you can't mess up cheese and tortilla too much. My son enjoyed his cheeseburger and fries. Horchata was good. Heard good things about this place so decided to try it out while we were in the area. We had a service dog with us, as we walked in we noticed the sign on their door that clearly said "No animals allowed EXCEPT SERVICE ANIMALS." There were two women working the register, whom of which immediately said "we don't allow dogs in here." not even a greeting. We said "he's a service animal" and the shorter woman who I assume was one of the managers rolled her eyes and told us we would have to be seated outside. Our party looked at each other and agreed to take our business elsewhere since we felt unwelcome there from the start. Mind you, it's illegal to treat a customer with a service animal anything other than a normal customer. Forcing us to sit outside is illegal and considered discrimination. We stopped by Lilys around 10:30AM on a Saturday after hiking Escondido Falls. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and my friend ordered an Al pastor lunch burrito. We were told it would be a 35 minute wait. The burritos were packed but the breakfast burrito lacked on the bacon and some bites were just pure refried beans. Mostly eggs, cheese, and beans. The sauce was pretty good though! 3/5 The Al pastor was better in my opinion- it was a lunch burrito so it had rice instead of eggs. The top part of the burrito was mostly the refried beans so had to eat through that first to get to the meat. But the meat was pretty flavorful and great paired with the sauce. 4/5 Parking is pretty spacious lot since it's in a plaza. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

It was below average. It was mainly eggs and the sausage was more like cut up hot dog pieces. The burrito had no flavor and the salsa wasn't that great either. Only reason it's not five stars is because it's a little pricey ($36 for 2 burritos) and because their wait time is quite long for everything, which can be expected with a busier smaller shop. The food here is pretty good and for that it gets 3 stars instead of 2. I do like their fish tacos quite a bit, but was pretty disappointed with their Loco Fries that they advertise as a real popular one. I guess my problem here is that it takes a really long time for the food to be ready, and they don't put things on the side. For example, I couldn't share a burrito with my boyfriend because he can't eat onions and I love onions and when I asked them to put it to the side they said they don't do that . They can omit but not put it on the side. Same issue with salsa on the loco fries. Kinda odd that a place would be doing that. And then... well... the service was kinda lame. The woman at the front wouldn't let us pay ahead claiming that she needs our food to be ready for us to pay. Ok... another oddity but fine... 30 mins later I go back in to check on the food and this time the guy said another 5 mins. I also say that we haven't paid yet and he acted surprised and kindly took my money. So what this lady said was hogwash. When I used to work in this plaza circa 2015 Lily's was half the size and a lot more affordable. Since then prices have gone up but they also expanded and renovated the inside. However they are still busy as ever and food still takes 30 min to an hour. Had to come try the best breakfast burrito in Malibu while I was in the area. We ordered the burrito and horchata online around 45 min before we arrived and picked up as many people have stated it takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour on weekends for the food to be prepared. Spot on timing for us as our estimated wait time was 45 minutes and our order was ready when we entered the restaurant! The cafe was big and much more spacious than I thought it would be. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating available! We also ordered 2 chicken tamales which aren't available on their online menu since it is a Friday/Saturday special and they were so delicious. Perfectly warm, soft, flavorful and meat wasn't dry at all. The burrito was huge! We got a large bacon breakfast burrito and shared with one other person. Very very filling and had a good balance of bacon, beans and eggs. Paired with some avocado and the green salsa, it was perfect! I think 2 people can comfortably share one medium burrito and 1 tamale. We had to take the other tamale home to enjoy another time. The horchata was also very delicious because it wasn't too sweet and didn't have too much cinnamon. Perfect way to balance out the spicy salsa! I am excited to come back on the next beach day in Malibu. Parking was very easy and there are 2 lots for the plaza so if you can't find any spots on one side, go to the quieter side and I'm sure there will be a few open spots! read more

I got the chicken bowl, carne asada bowl, and an order of chips and salsa for a whopping $61. When the salsa came out it was in 3 of the small sample size cups and lacked any flavor besides ketchup. When the main course came out, while the sizes were huge, the protein was lacking flavor. It felt like the chicken was boiled, the carne asada was basically ground beef, and sprinkled with a tiny bit of seasoning and then smothered in a bunch of unsalted refried beans and rice. They were generous with the sauce though, and I especially liked the green sauce. The red sauce was not spicy and was more like pico de gallo. I got the mahi mahi burrito, which has fish in it. It was a little pricy at around $15. I got the regular size, and got 2 meals out of it. It was alright, nothing spectacular or memorable. The fish tasted a little dry but it was plentiful. I have witnessed some situations where some costumers bash on the workers for making a simple mistake or the wait time being too much ... people need to understand that these are human being a with real lives and everyone make mistakes. The waits are sometimes extreme but the food definitely worth it and you can tell that they make the food with heart and passion. I see Lily their every time I go and see her working just as hard as everyone else clearly showing empathy' to her workers by helping them out while managing the restaurant. The burrito comes in medium and large, got the large and it was well filled. The burrito as a whole needed more seasoning. The hot sauce that comes with it is spicy but also lacks seasoning. Could have used some salt. Overall a decent breakfast burrito but not something I would come back for. Could have used a little more bacon in the large in proportion to the beans and eggs. First off the food was good. Burritos here are huge. Very tasty. We enjoyed it. However, the service was horrible. The girl who took our order was super rude and dismissive. Not at all friendly or helpful. We spoke to what i think was a manager then the owner about the experience. Neither appeared to be too concerned with the behavior of the staff.
