Favorite spot to go to in Walnut Creek since they first opened up. I usually get the 1/4 dark with papas and greens. I've tried almost everything on the menu and nothing has tasted bad. They now serve All 3 empanadas so you can try them all and pick your favorite. Atmosphere is always nice and outdoor seating is available. Cool place just to have lunch/dinner with a friend or date night read more

My food pics might look great but that food and overall experience was terrible. The place looks gorgeous, very aesthetically pleasing. The hostess was cold and unfriendly. The waiter was also inattentive and after taking our orders we never saw again until we had to finally ask for our check ourselves. The seafood mahi dish was a giant SALT BOMB. It's as if someone took the cap off a salt shaker and poured salt into the dish. My friends chicken was dry af. The white rice was okay lol. Would not recommend and would definitely not return. read more

I don't see the hype. I guess living in NY for 12+ years has me spoiled because you can get Peruvian food like this everywhere. It was good but not somewhere I'm rushing to go back. The lomo saltado was tender, so that was enjoyable. We made reservations and still had to wait 30 mins. They kept saying they were waiting for the upstairs table to be free. They didn't even end up seating us there. read more

I had some expectations from a highly rated Peruvian restaurant to have vibrant, fresh, zesty, true-to-its-ingredients kind of food, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Nothing we ate was bad, or low quality, however when it comes to the flavors, it wasn't what I wished for, and kind of underwhelming. My main issue was the seasoning, or lack thereof, across all the dishes we ate. We had the Ceviche trio, and while it looked nice, the flavors were "held back". felt like the ingredients could've been fresher, and the seasoning was not edgy enough. The Polpa (octopus) was relatively tender, but again, as a dish and especially in terms of flavor, it was underwhelming. for the seafood rice, I expected sea breeze aromas and freshness that meet stir fried rice, like I've had before in other places, but it was mediocre. My party also had the chicken dish over rice (forgot what it's called) and it was ok. and the beef empanadas which were pretty good. nice and crispy. We sat inside where I guess there's a better atmosphere at dinner time, but during lunch and was more lively outside. read more

Food is ok but far away from being a $40 to-go meal. I ordered 1 item (Lomo soltado) and a can of coke for $40 (+ a tip of 18% because today it became the norm that even if you order to go and do not receive any service whatsoever, you have to tip and a lot! It's also the norm to look at you while you choose the tip option so you are as uncomfortable as possible) What I received was a half handful of fries with maybe a few ounces of overcooked beef cubes and some rice. Everything is ok in terms of flavor but definitely not worth my money. read more

This place is amazing! I've hit all of their locations: first San Francisco, later Walnut Creek, and then Oakland. I can honestly say that the consistency is real at each location, which is always a blessing. But the Walnut Creek location is the only one with the lovely zucchini that I fell in love with. No matter which Limón you visit, they have great vegetables. But da Dub Creek has my special treat, so this one has a special place in my heart. The tacu tacu is flex season and my partner-in-crime-and-the-divine-and-shine always grabs the rotisserie chicken. Actually, everyone I've ever dined with always gets that chicken. So something tells me it's delicious, though I'm a vegetarian and have never tasted myself. And so, I can only insist that you go get your Peruvian en este restaurante muy delicioso read more

This place hits every time I go here and I decided to finally write a review because it's well deserved. 4.5 out of 5! The consistency, the quality/flavors of the food is amazing! Items ordered: "La Copa" ceviche (catch of the day), 1/2 chicken with rice and side salad, truffle Mac and cheese, and the house made sangria. Everything was delicious. But I will give that ceviche a 5 out of 5! Quality, taste, flavor, mouth watering garlicky citrus kick with a hint of spice. Topped with light and crispy calamari. I will def order the ceviche again with the fresh catch and will def recommend it. So good I just wanted to drink whatever juices was left but wished it came with more plantain chips. I always get the chicken and truffle Mac. It's consistent and flavorful. No complaints. Tender baked/rotisserie chicken and the truffle is perfectly infused in the mac read more

My Girlfriend and I are huge fans of Lìmon and we have visited every location multiple times. This was our first time visiting the Walnut Creek location so we were super excited. They didn't have any reservations available since it was a last minute decision to go. So, we decided to just rough it with no reservation on Saturday night how bad could the wait be? We waited a very long time. We arrived at about 7:00pm and didn't get sat until 8:00. This was to be expected though. It was a very busy Saturday Night with multiple big parties going on so I knew I had to be a little patient. Our waiter after about 25 minutes finally took our order and kept apologizing for the delay that he was swamped. I actually felt really bad for the guy..there should have been more staff that night. Our food took another 50 minutes to come. At this point I'm hangry and a little frustrated. The food. We ordered for an appetizer the cheese empanadas and the chicken. They were by far the best our of everything. The flavor was on point and the dipping sauce is out of this world amazing. We ordered the yucca fries which were undercooked and not good. An order of the lomo saltado which normally is excellent was a disappointment. The steak was very overcooked almost charred and my girlfriend ordered some kind of shrimp dish with rice and beans as to which she said was eh. We are definitely not picky eaters we have never complained about Lìmon's food but this time was a huge disappointment. I hope they get it together as far as with service and food quality. You are paying big bucks here so you expect a better experience. We will definitely continue to visit our favorite locations. read more

Limón doesn't look like much when walking past but when you peek through the restaurant, you'll be hit with aromatic spices and fun Latin music! Met with some old friends at this restaurant and we had a great time! Our server (forgot his name) checked on us pretty often and took real good care of us! The attentiveness from the server to the food is by far the best I've had in a long time. There is interior and patio seating so it's all about preferences at this point! The rundown: Chef's Trio - 3 Ceviches (Shrimp, crab, and fish) prepared in its own unique way! Some were sweet, spicy, and all were flavorful. The chips were nice a crispy too. Presentation was beautiful! Lomo Saltado - This dish was recommended by a friend and boy was I not disappointed. This entree was delicious! The beef was nice and tender, served with rice, French fries, onions, tomatoes, and all the sorts! Highly recommend. Chicha Morada Sour - Strong and tasty! The bartender said he made it with love lmao. Love the Pisco Quebranta. Definitely a good refresher before the main meal. Love the food and atmosphere. 100% definitely coming back again! read more

This place is amazing. It is always PACKED, but there is good reason why! The food is amazing, the vibe is fabulous, and the location is pretty good! Parking sucks a bit, but that has nothing to do with the food and the restaurant itself. We had a fairly big party and they were able to take us in quiet fast. More importantly, the food was delish! We had a variety of different things -- and it was all yummy! Given how busy it was on a weekend, the service was ok, but not bad enough to dock a star. All in all, I will be back! read more

I went in the other day and my experience wasn't the worst I can say but neither was it the best. I had arrived first before my partner and had already planned on ordering a dish before my partner arrived. The first item came out great it was a lomo saltado dish. The only thing I would say is the rice came a bit hard on top as if it was sitting out. Half way through the dish we ordered the Mac and cheese truffle and it lacked flavor, I was looking forward to trying their dessert but the server never came back after we ordered the Mac and cheese, we lingered for a bit before we had to leave but the server never came out again so we decided to go to the host stand and ask for our check to close out. read more

It was quite good. Aside from having to show proof of vaccination to be seated and reserving a table via Yelp, it was pleasant to eat here. We got a second floor view. Started off with the Assorted Empanadas (originally we ordered the Chicken Empanadas, but someone goofed on our order the mistake was much better). The assorted empanadas gave you an opportunity to sample all of their tasty savory pastries. The vegetable empanadas was surprisingly tasty. I ordered the Chuleton Carlitos and my spouse got the Arroz con Mariscos. Both were excellent in flavor and texture. For dessert I got the Chocolate Bandido. It's like a brownie with butterscotch and chocolate sauce. Very nice. We'll have to come back again. Good to come with a group too. read more

Limon Rotisserie is a restaurant that introduces Peruvian cuisine something thats heavily obscure in the food scene between NorCal and SoCal. The restaurant was opened in 2002 in San Francisco by the three Castillo brothers. Here at Limon the goal is to spread awareness and share a slice of the dynamic Peruvian flavors through shared plates. Lomo Saltado $25: Although it has not hit my page yet, Vox Kitchen In SoCal is my favorite take on Lomo Saltado, for those of you who have tried it before you know whats up! Taking that first bite of beef tenderloin it was incredibly juicy and tender and cooked to perfection . However, where it fell short was the ginger infused soy sauce marinade was lackluster to me. The sauce did not resonate with me and did not leave me wowed and seemed too subtle. The fries were already soggy from being in the sauce 6 mins out of the kitchen. For $25 I was expecting flavor-town, but the only merit would be the perfectly cooked beef. 1/2 pollo A La Brasa $19: Jess and Michael recommended the chicken so I had high hopes this would be the redeeming factor. This dish comes with 2 sides and I picked Yuca and Sweet potato fries, which is incredible given the sides makes up $8 worth of food. Paired is the yellow Aji Amarillo Huacatay sauce which Jess RAVED about. I shredded that chicken with EASE, It was incredibly tender, juicy, and seasoned SUPER well. The fries were both crispy, the Yuca was so addicting. Jess wasn't kidding when she said the Yellow sauce was bomb, cause I dipped not only chicken but also the fries in it. Although made with chili's its not at all spicy, but more on the rich and creamy side. Limon is an awesome spot with a really chill classy vibe. The chicken impressed me so much I'd say its worth getting the whole chicken and order more aji sauce with it cause you won't regret it read more

Been here countless time for dinner - probably one of my favorite restaurant around the area. Every dish I have ordered here has been amazing - from appetizers to desserts, you will definitely be so satisfied after the meal. For appetizers, their ceviche is good with taro chips - it is so refreshing which makes it the perfect appetizer! For main, their lomo saltado is the best - very savory and filling! Their rotisserie chicken is well seasoned and juicy. I also love their grilled beef tongue, so tender and flavorful! Their empanadas and truffle mac and cheese is a must order for sides. They are super good! For dessert, you have to order their chocolate bandido! This dessert is on a heavier side but trust me, you won't regret it! I have been to Limon 5 times this month. Burlingame is still my favorite location but this comes a close second. You can never go wrong with their ceviche or the lomo and everything you eat with that aji amarillo sauce is going to be exponentially better. You can dip a shoe in that sauce and it will taste great. This space actually edges out the Burlingame location slightly because it felt wider and airier and the high ceilings meant that the sound bounced around better, making it a little quieter and easier to have a conversation without having to yell and compete with other patrons. It also meant you weren't sitting elbow to elbow with strangers. Finish your meal with their signature Pisco sour. read more

Family Owned Peruvian Restaurant Executive chef, Martín Castillo, and his brothers, Antonio and Eduardo, grew up around a busy kitchen. Their mother, Luz, was well known in her neighborhood for her delicious cooking: her son's friends would always ask her to make their families a dish on special occasions. By the 1990's the Castillo brothers had left Perú and found themselves in the U.S. They continued their ritual of cooking home-style Peruvian dishes out of their apartment for family, friends and, soon enough, friends of friends. It was then that they knew there was something worth sharing. By 2002, the Castillo's first restaurant, "Limón" opened its doors on 17th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. The goal was simple: introduce the dynamic flavors of Peruvian cuisine to the renowned San Francisco food scene, in which it was seemingly missing. With word of mouth the restaurant quickly gained recognition from top restaurant critics and national publications. Most important to the Castillo brothers was to create an atmosphere reminiscent of life in Perú: a place where locals could gather over shared plates and celebrate life's occasions with memorable food & drink. Today, the Castillo family continues to own & operate multiple Limon Rotisserie locations in the Bay Area & beyond.

Blue neon arches, a huge underwater mural, plush chairs and low tables along the back wall. Worth the detour. Chris was working the bar on his second day and greeted us like a regular. I skipped my usual Manhattan and went with the Smoke Break, bourbon with bitters, smoke and black cherry. He nailed it. That is the one I would order again. Kudos to Chris for making the smoke linger and make the drink taste fantastic. I had this one in Oregon and it was cool but Chris did a better job with his method that really did serious justice to the name. My wife wanted the Cucumber Cooler, but they were out of cucumber. She pivoted to Sauvignon Blanc, and they were out of that too. The wine list runs four whites and four reds, so there is not much room to maneuver if the cocktails are not your thing. Chris read the situation, offered up a Paper Airplane since she wanted something refreshing, and put it on the house. Classic good bartending. It was louder than expected for how few people were in the room. On a Saturday with a DJ, music and dancing, I would guess the volume gets close to a rave. Go Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to hear the person across from you, and you will probably catch them fully stocked. My guess is weekends clean them out. Cocktails run 16 to 18 dollars. There is also a 300 dollar tequila and cognac number called La Maria served in a glass rimmed with gold dust, if you have something to celebrate. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 5. They are on the ground floor of the Waymark apartments at 121 Pringle Ave with a small patio out front and heaters. Great spot to hang out and talk with friends, and a good pre dinner or post dinner stop rather than a destination for the whole night. When those doors shut you are transported somewhere neat. I would go again.

This Spanish/Mexican restaurant is simply EXCEPTIONAL. It's located across from the Post Office in Walnut Creek, just a short distance from the swanky North Main Street restaurant and bar scene. "Ezkina" is Basque for the Spanish word "esquina" which means "corner," and you can spot the difference the minute you walk in: real cotton/linen napkins on every table - none of the polyester or paper nonsense. Order a drink. Every cocktail is top-of-the-line. My wife had a margarita, and I had a Manhattan. Did the bartender go to Harvard's Bar Tender's School? We savored every sip. We enjoy trying new dishes, so this time I had the Chicken Mole De La Casa, and my wife had the Huitlacoche Stuffed Chicken (Huitlacoche adds sort of a smoky, woody, mushroom, and black truffle taste to the dish). Both were out-of-this-world delicious. AND, as a surprise, they offered an off-menu dessert: Carajillo Bread Pudding (a rich spiked bread pudding with notes of coffee and Licor 43 topped with vanilla ice cream). So the next time you're heading to the Post Office, bring a thirst for something new and visit Ezkina... there's a ton of free parking behind the restaurant. Main Street eat your heart out.

This is where much of the good ends. The food was overall just ok. We ordered the shrimp creole, fried chicken, beet salad, chopped salad, artichoke and spinach dip, and collards. Nothing absolutely stood out to me. The fried chicken was crispy and probably my favorite dish, but I'm not at a stage where all I can eat is fried chicken so I really wanted the other dishes to stand out a bit more. My biggest gripe though isn't about the food - it was about the service. Our waitress was pretty attentive in the beginning, but after we were served our meal, I felt like we barely saw her. We had to flag someone else down several times to just get extra silverware and then boxes. And then while we've been all sitting around with boxes for a while, I had to look around for our server to call her over to get the dessert menu and then remind her of the birthday callout. They did bring over a nice candle for the birthday dessert (that isn't complimentary, by the way, which is fine). It was an overly pricey experience for ok food, and not so good service. I'm hoping it was just a busier night and this is not typical, but for our one experience, I would not personally come back.

Despite it being windy and chilly, we didn't get cold at all. I regret not taking photos of the restaurant itself as the ambience was so unique. We ordered 3 appetizers and no mains. Fried calamari, heirloom tomatoes with burrata and roasted brussel sprouts. Calamari: batter was a bit darker than most I've had, but consistency and crispness the same. Don't know if they used extra paprika for the color. The calamari was tender and a good contrast to the batter. The real star was their tartar sauce which was so yummy we asked for more. Tomato salad: this dish was just about perfect. What you can't see well in the photo is the burrata sitting on a bed of pesto. The pesto is arugula-based, making it much milder and not so basil-forward, which we appreciated. Brussels sprouts: It's not the best we've had but I would still order it again, if nothing more than to get those insane bacon chunks that came with the vegetables. I had the spicy maracuya and hubby had the Irish goodbye as drinks. Both wonderfully done, but I especially liked the Irish goodbye which was their take on a manhattan - instead of bourbon they used whiskey, and threw in some green chartreuse along with the vermouth. We'll have to try to recreate this at home. Service was friendly, but the server didn't check up on us. They looked understaffed. My inaugural Peruvian culinary adventure was a delightful experience! Accompanied by a friend, we kicked off our meal with lychee sours. The drink, adorned with foamy goodness and topped with lychee, was a sweet treat! For our main courses, we opted for the arroz con pollo and polli-papas. While I found the arroz con pollo to be satisfactory--the chicken was juicy--overall, I didn't find it particularly remarkable. I had intended to order a seafood dish, but unfortunately, their seafood options feature red snapper, to which I am allergic. On the other hand, the polli-papas were a true delight! The fried chicken, enveloped in a light, crispy batter, retained its juiciness, striking a perfect balance between succulence and crunchiness. The fries, immersed in the sauce, were a delightful addition to the dish, which I thoroughly enjoyed! I eagerly anticipate exploring other offerings at Limon, and I hope to sample some of their seafood dishes on my next visit! read more

I had a great experience at Limón. The food was flavorful and came out quick, but what really stood out was the excellent service from the bartenders Elder, Victor, and Robinson. All three were friendly, attentive, and really made the visit enjoyable. They kept the energy upbeat, checked in consistently, and served ice-cold beer just the way it should be. It's rare to find a bar team that works this smoothly together and genuinely cares about the guest experience. If you're stopping by, definitely grab a seat at the bar you'll be taken care of. Highly recommend! read more

Great food and attentive service at Limon Peruvian Cuisine! The staff is friendly and always on point, making sure you have everything you need. The outdoor patio is a nice option for al fresco dining, though you might have to deal with a few flies buzzing around. If you're a fan of generous portions, you're in for a treat. The Seco de Costillas and Arroz con Mariscos are both massive dishes, each can easily be shared between two people. Delicious flavors, great for family-style dining! Overall, a solid spot with a few minor quirks. read more

They offer options of sitting at a table inside, at the bar, or at a table outside on the rooftop. Each has its own vibe. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, we opted to sit at a table inside. Pulpo Teleferic - This is def my fave pulpo dish in the Bay area. We order it every single time. The pulpo has a lovely char on the outside and the inside is as tender as it gets. While the octopus is the star of the show, the potato cream really sets this dish apart. It's so luscious and delicious that I'd order it as a separate dish if that were an option. We scooped up every last drop. Gambas Al Ajillo - The shrimp were jumbo, sweet and super fresh. They're served in a generous amount of garlicky olive oil and topped with garlic chips. Tip: if you're as eager to try bread dipped in the olive oil as we were, cleanse your palate first. Otherwise, it's hard to appreciate the subtle flavors of the garlicky shrimp infused olive oil. Wagyu Empanadas - This is the only dish we wouldn't order again. It was tasty, but for the price, I'd rather try a different dish next time. The wagyu filling was delish, but I didn't care for the oily looking fried wonton wrapper. The manchego chips were pretty, but I'd eat them separately. Otherwise, they fall off the empanada and the manchego flavor gets lost in the bite. Iberico Paella - Mixed feelings about this dish. I was super excited to try it after our waiter removed the cover with a flourish that accentuated its smokey, nutty scent. It was indeed very tasty, but the smokiness overshadowed any nutty flavor of the Iberico, which was the point. Also, the soccarrat we requested was completely missing. I still thought it was a good dish, but my husband would have preferred a paella with a balance of "surf" and "turf". We'll prob order a different paella next time. (We enjoy the Paella Negra more.) Barceloneta Sangria - I rarely drink, but after the manager poured a sample shot of this sangria into my mouth (yes, you read that right), I couldn't resist ordering a full glass. It was fruity, ice cold and a perfect contrast to the richness of the food. At the end of the meal, we were so stuffed that we were ready to take the check, but the waitress surprised us with an anniversary dessert. I couldn't hear what she said it was, but my favorite part was the nutella-like chocolate they wrote "happy anniversary" with. It was a fantastic end to a fantastic meal, and we'll definitely be back again!

There's plenty of space for large groups which is why Parada won me over instead of Limon which I frequent. There's a lot of parking available and options of outdoor and indoor seating. Nice ambiance, they have a full bar and TVs for sports.

Justin and Desmond, two of the bartenders were the only ones being attentive. No one else was super friendly or inviting, it was a bit strange. We (party of 9) came here to celebrate my birthday, and it was the perfect meal. We ordered family style so that we could try a little of everything. The pizzas are about 12" cut into quarters. The pasta dishes were medium size. Their appetizers were quite decent sized and good for sharing. Small Plates: + Fried Calamari and Shrimp - lightly battered, crispy, and well seasoned. + Truffle Fries - crispy and good. Not very truffle forward + Cauliflower - lightly battered and great flavor. My favorite of the small plates. Pizzas: + Doppio Zero - Burrata cheese and Prosciutto in a white sauce. I love the individual ingredients but together it was too salty. + Carciofina - Basil pesto, artichokes, mozzarella, Calabrian chilies. This one had a nice kick. + Margherita with Italian salami added for $3 more - very delicious - our favorite of the pizzas. Pastas: + Fettuccine Oxtail - oxtail was finely shredded and pasta was very good + Rigatoni Pork Belly - pork was shredded and pasta was in a yummy tomato sauce + Short Rib Raviolis (this was a daily special) - wonderfully seasoned with lots of cheese. Our favorite of the pastas. Desserts: + Tiramisu - this was our complementary birthday treat. Great coffee flavor + Panna Cotta - texture was kinda firm, topped with lots of berry sauce. + Limoncello cake - lemony light cake topped with lots of berry sauce. Our favorite of the desserts. The entire meal was wonderful. Besides their delicious pizzas, the staff was very attentive, the kids meals were just as good as the rest of the menu, and the vibe was refined but not stuffy. We sat in front of the open kitchen and it was not loud. I couldn't have asked for more.

We had barely sat down and had not even had a chance to look at the menu when an employee approached us and told me that "the law" required my service dog to stay on the floor underneath the table. I explained that he is a very small service dog trained to respond to symptoms related to my disability and needs to remain close to me. He was on my lap, not on the restaurant's furniture or table. Instead of listening to my explanation, another employee came over with her phone already in hand to show us what she believed the law said. Both employees stood at our table repeatedly arguing with us about where my service dog was legally required to be. One employee even brought up having a quadriplegic family member with a service dog as justification for why she knew the rules. Every disability and service animal is different, and I found that comparison unnecessary and dismissive of what I was explaining about my own needs. The entire interaction made me feel singled out and embarrassed in front of other customers. Eventually, because the situation had become so uncomfortable, we had a family member take my service dog to our car and stay with him just to end the confrontation. That meant I was separated from the service animal specifically trained to assist me. Even after we agreed to remove him, the employees continued lecturing us. Afterward, we reviewed the U.S. Department of Justice's ADA guidance ourselves. The guidance states that generally a service dog must stay on the floor or the person may carry the dog, and it even provides an example involving a small service dog that needs to remain close to its handler to perform its disability-related work. I was never asking for my dog to sit on restaurant furniture or be placed on the table. What bothered me most was not simply being approached about a service animal, it was how the entire situation was handled. I should not have been made to feel like I had to publicly defend my disability-related need for my service dog just to sit down and have dinner. I hope management takes this experience seriously, reviews its service-animal policy, and provides employees with appropriate ADA training. Customers with disabilities and their service animals deserve to be treated respectfully and discreetly.
