Very good bubble tea place for students and everyone. I love the fact that you can place your order from the iPad and customize your beverage selection. No need to communicate your special preferences! Very convenient. The staff is friendly and wore a mask when I visited in October 2023. Honestly, it is a wise choice because the indoor ventilation is pretty bad. CO2 stayed around over 2000 ppm (shortly after I took the below photo). 5 stars for the bubble tea + iPad ordering system but 1 star for the poor air circulation.
Cute little cafe on Commonwealth that has little bites and various teas and drinks. There were a lot of students who were studying inside, and the overall vibe was clean and cute. The barista was not really friendly and just doing her job, so I didn't necessarily feel very welcomed there. The egg waffle I got was tasty and the milk tea was okay.
I was craving something sweet so I got the Fresh Taro Milk (with oat) -- this was a pleasant surprise, as it was just oat milk w/ taro paste... which was surprisingly good + refreshing haha. However, this was like $7.50 which is honestly really expensive for a 16oz drink so I wouldn't get it often for sure... it satisfied my cravings, but I wouldn't come back here often just for this. The store is really cute, clean, good lighting and I take work calls from here too (Wifi never works though, lol)... the bathrooms are clean though which is nice, and lots of natural light.
Following a day of walking and driving then picking up a few things from the dispensary- pausing a bit for tea, was needed. LimeRed is conveniently located on one of the busiest streets in the Allston area with the Packard's Corner rail station right in front. This Tea shop has a large feel, a relaxing vibe and the neutral design is pleasing. You could place your order using the upright screen or walk up to the counter. My almond milk Matcha+White Chocolate was very good and my Lychee Boba (to-go) was refreshing. The lychee itself however, needed more oomph (or maybe I should've requested an extra shot of it?). Hubs decided on the Turmeric tea that had a sashay bag full of herby things+ orange+spice notes which he totally enjoyed. By the way...Tea isn't the only thing here- there's coffee, macarons and other pastries available. The tea quality was fine and so was the price. The counterperson was swift as she handled my orders then got some help afterwards when the place got a bit busy. Service was excellent and the taste in music and volume wasn't bothersome when my husband and I had our teas here.
Nice quiet ambiance for studying. However, the drinks themselves were highly lacking. I got the Assam Black Milk Tea (cold, 50% sugar, with Oreo crumbs) and it tasted basically like water. The Taro Milk Tea was slightly better. Overall, very disappointing experience. There are so many better boba options in the area, I won't be back...
I ordered a mystery bag through their Too Good To Go partnership (which I recommend everyone to download. It basically allows restaurants to sell you a mystery bag of their food, typically before they close, for a cheap discount, saving food that would otherwise be thrown out after hours). In my mystery bag, I got a Matcha Latte with tapioca and a strawberry smoothie all for $3.99! As far as food quality wise, the matcha latte tea was a bit on the light side, but the tapioca was surprisingly fresh considering it was 15 minutes before closing. As well as the strawberry smoothie, it had a good balance of sweetness from the strawberries. Overall, the drinks are not too bad. Just one thing to note, in my matcha latte, I found a small piece of plastic, perhaps from packaging of some sorts. But, at the end of the day, it was right before closing and the workers looked tired. Everyone makes mistakes, but that's just one thing to look out for!
Best bubble tea I've had in the Boston area. I got the Assam Milk Tea with oat milk and boba. Unusual for a boba place to offer oat milk. Note: This place doesn't use the powdered "milk" that other places use (that's actually made with vegetable fat) if you get regular milk. The boba was cooked to chewy perfection. Also the cups they use have a nice round, aesthetically pleasing feel.
Stopped by here for a late afternoon treat. It was quite busy when we first got there around 430 pm on a Saturday. There is a kiosk where you can place your order and pay with card. If you prefer to pay with cash or order with a person, you can walk past the kiosk to the other register in the store. I ordered the waffle sundae ($9) with matcha and black sesame. They were busy so it took a while for it to be made. We waited about 20 minutes. I wouldn't recommend ordering that if you are in a hurry. The waffle was over cooked, so difficult to chew in some places. It comes with two scoops of ice cream but they are very small scoops. The black sesame lacked flavor... it was just sweet. I liked the option of adding many toppings without an up charge. Would come back to try their teas, but maybe skip the waffle sundae.
The BEST cake EVER!!! Lime Red Teahouse has the best cake, and it's the hazelnut crunch. It's smooth, rich, not too sweet (incredibly important for a good dessert!!), and just simply delicious. I don't think I've had such a cake anywhere else. And how I got it is a fun story (in hindsight!). I ordered a matcha dessert from Lime Red on my Uber Eats app. I got a notification in some time that they didn't have it and gave me 10 mins to change my order. And of course, the app semi-froze, i.e. the countdown kept going but it wasn't letting me select a substitute. With 10 seconds left on the clock, it finally unfroze and I selected the first thing I could see. Yup, it was this cake. Sounds like fate, haha. And by now, you can bet, I've had it multiple times! I also tried their earl grey shortbread cookie (with actual tea leaves!). Wow, no artificial flavoring here and that's a big win in my book. The one star off is for their tea. The first time around, the passion fruit jasmine tea was incredible and we enjoyed every sip. The second time, the mango jasmine tea was bitter as if the tea had been brewed for too long and the mango taste was subtle. And they didn't listen to our ice level instruction. So yes, this is not a five star review but am I going back? Oh yeah!
Very cute tea house with an assortment of drinks and bakery items. The matcha strawberry with boba was very delicious, albeit a little heavy. I kind of wish they used plastic boba straws instead of paper ones since the paper straw sort of deformed as I was drinking it and easily got bent. Saw a lot of people working on their laptops here and seems like a nice little spot to spend an afternoon. They had a lot of really cute macarons that look homemade! Barista was really helpful and cheerful.
Yum! So refreshing for the hot weather! This tea house is well decorated on the inside. It is an IG pic spot for sure! The worker was very nice but she was the only one working there. I understand it wasn't that busy when we were there but I always feel that no worker should be left alone! She was very diligent and nice to me and my sister and she has lots of patience because my sister couldn't figure out what she wanted! We also got an ice cream and waffle on the side and she packed them up nicely for us to go. Overall I wish I lived closer because I'd definitely be coming here for a refreshing drink all the time!
If you die here, it's Limedead. And if you get rolls here, it's Limebread. And if you come here for Lemons, but they only have Limes, it's Limeinstead. Obviously should be either Limegreen or Cherryred, otherwise it's just false advertising, after all - who has ever seen a red lime? I've tried a couple of drinks here now, and honestly they'd be heading for a 3-star rating if it weren't for how personable, helpful, social, and friendly the two girls were in here - especially one of them. As I said, employees were super friendly and we shared some jokes and fun, but I have to say that the drink quality and authenticity here is nowhere near as good as I expected it to be, considering all the great reviews and the word of mouth in New England about this local chain. I don't think they'd do well in NYC, Houston or San Francisco, to say the least. I just don't particularly think the boba tastes good... on the sweet side, a little bit anglicized or Americanized, and not in a good way such as for example, California/NYC's Boba Guys. So altogether not a great product. But lot of people love it, so try it for yourself, and I'll give it another try based on the awesome service and how awesome they are on insta and other social media... Barbie loves them on there and wants to come and try it too. And no, I'm not lime to you about that, I'm being honest.
One of the best tea places in Boston! My mom and I both got the Matcha Strawberry Latte which is premium matcha from Kyoto, fresh purée strawberry, boba, and milk. It was abso1lutly amazing! It was one of the best boba teas I have ever had! The wait was super short as well and super cute inside! It would be a great place to take a few pictures. The staff here was also helpful in explaining the different boba teas and what was in them, which I appreciated. The street parking here is usually available, which is unheard of in downtown Boston!
New boba places in allston! Gotta try them all! Boba! Came here after a dinner in the 88 market. We ordered the Jasmine milk tea and the egg waffle. The milk tea was delicious! It wasn't bitter and you could actually taste the Jasmine tea. The aloe was also yummy and included in the price of the drink. The egg waffle was ok, we've had the one in Chinatown which was fluffy and light. This one was dense - probably because of the batter and it was semi- crispy. Service was fantastic. The employees had smiling faces and were willing to answer any questions we might have. The place was clean. Plenty of seating areas and electrical outlets! Apparently this place is a chain boba place, that I never heard of before. Some of my friends from UMass Amherst were very familiar, so I said why not check it out. The waffle comb ice cream is really instagram worthy with the backgrounds they have here. It's also pretty delicious! I'm a big fan of anything matcha, and green tea ice cream with a really big waffle is pretty tasty. There's a ton of boba places in Allston, so if Kung Fu Tea, Gong Cha, and etc. are too full, then this is the spot to go to. I'm no longer a college student, so I don't need to study for exams. If you are, then this is a cooler/ more Asian place to study than a Starbucks. read more
I've been here on many different occasions with different groups of people. One of my favorite cafe shop. Ambience is phenomenal. Very modern, laid back, and a cute cafe. Reminds me of a modern farm-theme cafe. There's even a wall where you can take pictures! Street parking only but right off of green line. They take cash and credit. Let's get on to the food, shall we? Eggpuffs alone is very crispy and nothing like eggpuffs at ViVi in North Quincy or from the lady in Chinatown (seems like everyone knows the lady in Chinatown who specializes in Hong Kong eggpuffs). I wouldn't get eggpuffs alone. But with ice-cream (green tea, red bean, vanilla), it's a wonderful combination of hot crispy eggpuffs and cold, mouth-watering ice-cream. My favorite is with red bean ice-cream. As far as drinks go, you can't go wrong with anything. Doesn't taste like artificial sweeteners from bubble tea to smoothies. A great place to chill with friends... and Instagram worthy photos. read more

It feels fitting to FINALLY write a review for LimeRed Teahouse on National Boba Day ahhhh! In short, this is the best boba in Boston. (Their other locations out in Northampton and Amherst are wonderful too--the quality is consistent, even though some menu items differ. Try visiting them all!) They set the bar for the competition. They only use real, natural ingredients, so you can actually pick which type of milk you want and choose the level of sweetness for your drink. 25% sweet is my go-to! The Boston space comfortable, clean, and zen. It's equally as good a space for afternoon breaks with friends or powering through a study session. The staff are really great too at letting you make modifications to drinks too. My signature move is adding cold brew to milk tea and creating a coffee milk tea! It's fantastic--especially if you need the extra caffeine boost! I only wish it was permanently listed on the menu, but I can make do for now :P read more

Really cute space and yummy dessert! The service here is extremely friendly and the space is chill and great for relaxing with friends or studying. Currently obsessed with Boba so on our day trip to Boston I had to get me some boba. This place was super cute! I definitely see myself bringing in my laptop, having some boba and listening to some relaxing tunes. I'm disappointed in the boba I got though. I wanted to venture out (usually I get taro or brown sugar at all boba spots) but it honestly wasn't my favorite. I'd get something more basic next time for sure and I think it would be good. This just wasn't for me but I still give them 4 stars. read more

Got the Strawberry Matcha Latte. The actual drink does not look like what it was advertise...... 1) What you will get is a green smoothie. 2) The first thing you taste probably the strawberry seeds. 3) Waited 15 mins for this green smoothie. 4) Strawberry Matcha Latte? I think it taste like KIWI SMOOTHIE. 5)Slow service- Only 2 people working for the whole shop. Doing Ubereats, walk-in customers, customers complains. Management needs to provide more on job training to the girls! One of the girls didn't even look at me when I place my order and I feel like I am bothering her. read more
A cute cafe! My friend and I split the Waffle Sundae with Matcha Ice Cream. We added in mochi (extra .50) and crushed Oreos. Comparing the Waffle Sundae to Ice Age or even Monkey King, LimeRed wins by a landslide. It's a bit more expensive but worth it. Been here a couple of times already and got to try the Adzuki Milk Tea with red beans and Passionfruit Tea with boba. The boba was chewy and a bit sweet which complemented the drink. Both drinks were great! I would definitely come back to try their other items. read more

I dub this place, "The most Insta-worthy coffee shop in the Boston area"-photogenic desserts, even more photogenic interior. I've only been here twice, and enjoyed my visit both time. The girls behind the counter are always attentive and warm. The boba here is pretty good-better than a majority of other boba places in the Boston area. My last visit here, I shared the ice cream with the egg waffle with my sister. So amazing! The egg waffles are crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside, and they make the PERFECT combo with the creamy matcha ice cream we got with it. Matcha flavor was pretty strong in the ice cream. For $8ish, it's totally worth it! I have a huuuuge sweet tooth, and I'd say it's plenty for two people to share. If you need to fulfill your inner basic, make sure hold up your dessert against one of the two photogenic walls and snap a photo! read more

The bubble tea here is one of the best I've had in Boston! I love that you can sub with oat milk and they have a good variety of drinks/desserts. There's also free WiFi and a good amount of seating so it's a great place to study/do work. I usually get the Assam milk tea with boba, less ice and 75% sweetness. This is usually the sweet spot for good boba and for the most part Lime Red delivers. Only thing is that the quality is inconsistent -- I've had times when the boba was on point - chewy, nicely sweetened - and the milk tea had a good black tea flavor. Other times the milk tea was bland and didn't even taste like it had tea in it. The same applied with the boba, which lost the good sweetness it usually has. Overall this is a solid place and I'm definitely going to be here pretty consistently for my boba fix. read more

Came here yesterday on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered the egg waffle sundae with red bean ice cream and pocky. Delicious! Egg waffle was made fresh, light and slightly crisp on the outside. Red bean ice cream was probably store bought, but nonetheless still very good. This restaurant is more of a drink then dessert cafe, although they do have select cake slices and macaroons to have with your drinks. The service was slow. There was only 1 person behind the counter and she was busy taking and making the orders. Tip: If you are paying with credit card, you might want to do the self service order station in front - we discovered this after the fact because it wasn't obvious. Restaurant is offering takeout only, although there are 2 outdoor table/seating areas outside. read more
As a pop up tea house/cafe place, this place worths a 4* because of its nice atmosphere. DONT mix this rate standard with other formal restaurants. Neat clean and relaxing environment. Wood table with green garnished wall. They provided a few bread, cookie and dessert choices. The main things were still their drinks. I tried the classic strawberry matcha latte which had 3 layers. (Pretty cool) However, it tasted not that nice. The bitterness from the matcha latte was too much and the sweetness from the top layer strawberry was heavy too. Came in on Monday with a friend and really loved LimeRed! First off the place is so nice, such an amazing place to study. The green wall with hanging lights was super cute!!! Since we're form out of town me and my friend rolls pictures here haha. In terms of drinks I got a hot black milk tea with boba and I really loved the flavor! The size was also good for the price , which is great. The boba consistency was perfect, and the sweetness level was just right. I also got the egg waffle without ice cream (I was feeling cold oops), and while it was a bit doughy the flavor was excellent. I really wish I could give this place 5 stars but the drinks me and my friend got were lukewarm rather than hot. Other than that the flavor of everything was great, and service was amazing. read more

I decided to come to Limered Tea house after seeing pictures of the waffle sundae online and instantly thought... "I need to try this!" I came on a Saturday evening around 8pm and ordered a waffle sundae with matcha ice cream. Service was really fast, there was no line when I arrived. The wait time for the waffle sundae is about 5minutes since they need to make the waffle. When I got the waffle there was no complaints. It looked delicious and it was delicious. Ice cream was good and waffle was warm. The only thing... since it's a small place we had to be on the look out to see who was leaving soon in order to snatch up a table. I enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back for some more. I've read a lot of good reviews on the pearl milk tea so I will try that next. read more
I'm always down for some bubble tea and waffles! Came here last weekend after lunch and ordered the waffle sundae with black sesame ice cream, green tea ice cream, and mocha topping. You can pick up to two flavors of ice cream because it comes with two big scoops and unlimited toppings. (some toppings are extra $) The HK style bubble waffle is made fresh so expect some wait time. Other items on the menu include pastries, macarons, coffee/tea, bubble milk tea, and more. Overall, this is a great spot for dessert and bubble tea. read more

4.5 stars! Great service, very cute interior with a very solid boba game. Pearl texture is perfect. Lost half a star for the egg puffs - not bad but definitely not great. The egg puffs are very very spongey. The honeycomb sundae is slightly more beautiful to look at than to eat, but it's still very good. Will definitely come back! I really like this place. read more
With the abundance of bubble tea shops opening around Boston, LimeRed is a pleasant change with its matcha centered menu. The tea house includes a range of pastries in a display case near the ordering area such as macaroons and cakes. As far as snacks goes, they also make fresh egg puff waffles as well as variety of Pocky flavors. For the drinks, expect matcha infused lattes, coffees, lemonades, bubble tea, and more. All drinks come with a free topping which is in line with other tea houses. I've been here a few times and the matcha latte does not disappoint. My first drink here was the matcha lemonade, although I'm not sure if I can pick out the taste of matcha in the tart lemonade. A great spot to hang out and service is friendly and quick. Awesome for groups to come in or to grab and go with the abundance of restaurants around the area. read more
This place is phenomenal. No other boba tea shop in America is like this! Super cozy ambiance, fresh fruit boba tea variation, friendly and personable staff who know the regulars by name. I love this place! The snacks are unique and unlike anywhere else. Limered Tea House is my #1 choice for dessert, boba tea and a cozy place to sit relax/socialize/do work. Coming from Los Angeles, I was shocked that not many boba places on the East Coast serve as a café where people can hang out with their friends and/ or work on homework. When I heard LimeRed was opening up, I was really excited! Came here with my friend after grabbing lunch around the area and wanted to give this place a try. It seemed pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon, so ideal for people who don't like noisy/ busy caffes. LimeRed has a wide variety of options to choose from; from coffee to dessert to boba and even macarons! I've ordered the jasmine green milk tea with boba, taro milk tea with boba, and the egg waffle sundae cone. That really did not disappoint! Most times, I can never really taste the jasmine in the milk tea because the creamer is overbearing, but not at LimeRed! The boba was a good consistency; very chewy. The taro milk tea was okay, maybe it was because I got it with less sugar. The only thing I could complain about the milk teas here is that they run a little bit on the watery end. The egg waffle sundae was really good! Nice crispy outer texture with a soft and bouncy inside. I do have to admit that it was kind of crazy; green tea ice cream, chocolate and caramel drizzle, whipped cream, crushed oreos, strawberry pocky, and mochi. Sugar overload!! But they all played really well together. The service here is fast and friendly. The baristas are willing to help you with any questions that you have and seem to be really patient! Can't wait to be back to try more desserts and drinks! read more

The most instagrammable cafe in Boston! I came to try their egg puff waffle sundaes. The waffle is crisp on the outside and oh so chewy on the inside, complete with two scoops of ice cream and a variety of toppings. Most of the toppings are free, however a couple cost extra (i.e. mochi) I've had my fair share of bubble waffles in Hong Kong and I can confidently say that these waffles were on par! The macarons also looked delicious, although I didn't get to try any. Some unique flavors were earl grey, honey lavender, and rosé. The cafe makes a great spot to catch up with friends or go on a date- the seating ranges from comfy lounge chairs to high tables. We didn't know what to order so we said surprise us! We were in for a treat - the drink was not only pretty but delicious. I was surprised with Strawberry Matcha with Tapioca. I also got to try the Honey Lavender Macaroon and that lead me to buy a whole box as a gift for the friend that's housing me for my trip to Boston. The staff was really friendly and the vibe was good! As soon as you walk in, the simple yet aesthetic interior captures your eyes. There's an Instagram worthy green wall to the left as soon as you walk in. It's pretty busy so it may be hard to find a table since there are only a handful of tables available. I definitely want to visit again to try their other drinks, Matcha Tiramisu and the Honeycomb Waffle with Matcha Ice Cream. read more

New favorite place to get drinks! The decor is so nice and loved the setting and feeling of this place from the first moment I stepped inside. The first time I came here I had to try the strawberry matcha latte and not only was it pretty to post on my instagram but it was indeed really good~ never had any drink like that before. Also tried the earl grey milk tea with Boba and that was good too. (Not too sweet and really can taste the tea!) The second time I came here I wanted a simple hot drink, so I tried the assam milk tea and it was really good. They don't use just regular milk but they used steam milk which made it foamy and fluffyyy Finally, the thing that makes me give this place 5 stars is the service ~ the staff is super friendly and super nice. He was answering our questions about the drinks and it helped me decide what to get. Next time I have to come back to try the desserts!!! read more

I go here pretty much every weekend :) it's one of my favorite places in Boston that I actually want to bring/brag about to my friends to, especially when Boston isn't much of a food city in the first place + I'm a major foodie that has visited about 90 different restaurants in Boston. Great bubbletea, fruit teas made with fresh fruit, Espresso lattes, and yummy desserts ranging from house made egg waffle sundaes /egg wafflegato, house made matcha tiramisu, macarons, and crepe cake slices imported from Hokkaido Japan :) Imo, I haven't had any bad experience at all ever since coming here almost every weekend since they opened earlier this summer, and if you had bad luck on your drinks and stuff, staff is nice and will fix it for you if you bring it up! You can also sub in the milk with options like almond milk, as well adjust sugar level of all your drinks at 0, 25, 50, 75, or 100 percent sugar level. On top of this, the vibe of this place is really chill, bright with good natural lighting, and a great place to study because of free wifi and every table pretty much having about 8 outlets within reach for your laptop power adapters/chargers. LimeRed is also super clean, including the bathroom--which I can say is one of the cleanest I've seen compared to all the restaurants I've been to on that street/area. Recommendations: - Espresso Coconut Latte, - Matcha Strawberry Latte, - Strawberry Bliss smoothie, - Strawberry Fresh Fruit Tea, - Grapefruit Fresh Fruit Tea (ask for more lemon juice and grapefruit juice when they make it so it doesn't become too diluted), - Thai Iced Tea (they use real thai tea leaves!) - Egg waffle sundae or egg wafflegato are both amazing (I usually top it off with chocolate drizzle and mochi ) - Matcha Tiramisu is great too and comes with the cute little jars + cork, which you also get to keep! - Crepe cake slices are pretty good too! I love this place. My friend and I are huge fans of Kung Fu Tea but we figured we would give this place a shot. The staff is very friendly and you walk into a display of macaroons -- YES. I asked for recommendations for a fruity tea and they directed me to the strawberry jasmine tea with boba. GET IT. It was so refreshing and something that I haven't tried before. I of course bought a few macaroons that were so cute and flavorful. They have a big selection of flavors but I tried the espresso, peanut butter and jelly, and pistachio. Pistachio stole the show (but it always does for me) Although a little on the pricey side, I will be sure to come here often and try out the rest of their menu read more
