Very good bubble tea place for students and everyone. I love the fact that you can place your order from the iPad and customize your beverage selection. No need to communicate your special preferences! Very convenient. The staff is friendly and wore a mask when I visited in October 2023. Honestly, it is a wise choice because the indoor ventilation is pretty bad. CO2 stayed around over 2000 ppm (shortly after I took the below photo). 5 stars for the bubble tea + iPad ordering system but 1 star for the poor air circulation.
Cute little cafe on Commonwealth that has little bites and various teas and drinks. There were a lot of students who were studying inside, and the overall vibe was clean and cute. The barista was not really friendly and just doing her job, so I didn't necessarily feel very welcomed there. The egg waffle I got was tasty and the milk tea was okay.
I was craving something sweet so I got the Fresh Taro Milk (with oat) -- this was a pleasant surprise, as it was just oat milk w/ taro paste... which was surprisingly good + refreshing haha. However, this was like $7.50 which is honestly really expensive for a 16oz drink so I wouldn't get it often for sure... it satisfied my cravings, but I wouldn't come back here often just for this. The store is really cute, clean, good lighting and I take work calls from here too (Wifi never works though, lol)... the bathrooms are clean though which is nice, and lots of natural light.
Following a day of walking and driving then picking up a few things from the dispensary- pausing a bit for tea, was needed. LimeRed is conveniently located on one of the busiest streets in the Allston area with the Packard's Corner rail station right in front. This Tea shop has a large feel, a relaxing vibe and the neutral design is pleasing. You could place your order using the upright screen or walk up to the counter. My almond milk Matcha+White Chocolate was very good and my Lychee Boba (to-go) was refreshing. The lychee itself however, needed more oomph (or maybe I should've requested an extra shot of it?). Hubs decided on the Turmeric tea that had a sashay bag full of herby things+ orange+spice notes which he totally enjoyed. By the way...Tea isn't the only thing here- there's coffee, macarons and other pastries available. The tea quality was fine and so was the price. The counterperson was swift as she handled my orders then got some help afterwards when the place got a bit busy. Service was excellent and the taste in music and volume wasn't bothersome when my husband and I had our teas here.
Nice quiet ambiance for studying. However, the drinks themselves were highly lacking. I got the Assam Black Milk Tea (cold, 50% sugar, with Oreo crumbs) and it tasted basically like water. The Taro Milk Tea was slightly better. Overall, very disappointing experience. There are so many better boba options in the area, I won't be back...
I ordered a mystery bag through their Too Good To Go partnership (which I recommend everyone to download. It basically allows restaurants to sell you a mystery bag of their food, typically before they close, for a cheap discount, saving food that would otherwise be thrown out after hours). In my mystery bag, I got a Matcha Latte with tapioca and a strawberry smoothie all for $3.99! As far as food quality wise, the matcha latte tea was a bit on the light side, but the tapioca was surprisingly fresh considering it was 15 minutes before closing. As well as the strawberry smoothie, it had a good balance of sweetness from the strawberries. Overall, the drinks are not too bad. Just one thing to note, in my matcha latte, I found a small piece of plastic, perhaps from packaging of some sorts. But, at the end of the day, it was right before closing and the workers looked tired. Everyone makes mistakes, but that's just one thing to look out for!
Best bubble tea I've had in the Boston area. I got the Assam Milk Tea with oat milk and boba. Unusual for a boba place to offer oat milk. Note: This place doesn't use the powdered "milk" that other places use (that's actually made with vegetable fat) if you get regular milk. The boba was cooked to chewy perfection. Also the cups they use have a nice round, aesthetically pleasing feel.
Stopped by here for a late afternoon treat. It was quite busy when we first got there around 430 pm on a Saturday. There is a kiosk where you can place your order and pay with card. If you prefer to pay with cash or order with a person, you can walk past the kiosk to the other register in the store. I ordered the waffle sundae ($9) with matcha and black sesame. They were busy so it took a while for it to be made. We waited about 20 minutes. I wouldn't recommend ordering that if you are in a hurry. The waffle was over cooked, so difficult to chew in some places. It comes with two scoops of ice cream but they are very small scoops. The black sesame lacked flavor... it was just sweet. I liked the option of adding many toppings without an up charge. Would come back to try their teas, but maybe skip the waffle sundae.
The BEST cake EVER!!! Lime Red Teahouse has the best cake, and it's the hazelnut crunch. It's smooth, rich, not too sweet (incredibly important for a good dessert!!), and just simply delicious. I don't think I've had such a cake anywhere else. And how I got it is a fun story (in hindsight!). I ordered a matcha dessert from Lime Red on my Uber Eats app. I got a notification in some time that they didn't have it and gave me 10 mins to change my order. And of course, the app semi-froze, i.e. the countdown kept going but it wasn't letting me select a substitute. With 10 seconds left on the clock, it finally unfroze and I selected the first thing I could see. Yup, it was this cake. Sounds like fate, haha. And by now, you can bet, I've had it multiple times! I also tried their earl grey shortbread cookie (with actual tea leaves!). Wow, no artificial flavoring here and that's a big win in my book. The one star off is for their tea. The first time around, the passion fruit jasmine tea was incredible and we enjoyed every sip. The second time, the mango jasmine tea was bitter as if the tea had been brewed for too long and the mango taste was subtle. And they didn't listen to our ice level instruction. So yes, this is not a five star review but am I going back? Oh yeah!
Very cute tea house with an assortment of drinks and bakery items. The matcha strawberry with boba was very delicious, albeit a little heavy. I kind of wish they used plastic boba straws instead of paper ones since the paper straw sort of deformed as I was drinking it and easily got bent. Saw a lot of people working on their laptops here and seems like a nice little spot to spend an afternoon. They had a lot of really cute macarons that look homemade! Barista was really helpful and cheerful.
Yum! So refreshing for the hot weather! This tea house is well decorated on the inside. It is an IG pic spot for sure! The worker was very nice but she was the only one working there. I understand it wasn't that busy when we were there but I always feel that no worker should be left alone! She was very diligent and nice to me and my sister and she has lots of patience because my sister couldn't figure out what she wanted! We also got an ice cream and waffle on the side and she packed them up nicely for us to go. Overall I wish I lived closer because I'd definitely be coming here for a refreshing drink all the time!
If you die here, it's Limedead. And if you get rolls here, it's Limebread. And if you come here for Lemons, but they only have Limes, it's Limeinstead. Obviously should be either Limegreen or Cherryred, otherwise it's just false advertising, after all - who has ever seen a red lime? I've tried a couple of drinks here now, and honestly they'd be heading for a 3-star rating if it weren't for how personable, helpful, social, and friendly the two girls were in here - especially one of them. As I said, employees were super friendly and we shared some jokes and fun, but I have to say that the drink quality and authenticity here is nowhere near as good as I expected it to be, considering all the great reviews and the word of mouth in New England about this local chain. I don't think they'd do well in NYC, Houston or San Francisco, to say the least. I just don't particularly think the boba tastes good... on the sweet side, a little bit anglicized or Americanized, and not in a good way such as for example, California/NYC's Boba Guys. So altogether not a great product. But lot of people love it, so try it for yourself, and I'll give it another try based on the awesome service and how awesome they are on insta and other social media... Barbie loves them on there and wants to come and try it too. And no, I'm not lime to you about that, I'm being honest.
One of the best tea places in Boston! My mom and I both got the Matcha Strawberry Latte which is premium matcha from Kyoto, fresh purée strawberry, boba, and milk. It was abso1lutly amazing! It was one of the best boba teas I have ever had! The wait was super short as well and super cute inside! It would be a great place to take a few pictures. The staff here was also helpful in explaining the different boba teas and what was in them, which I appreciated. The street parking here is usually available, which is unheard of in downtown Boston!
Perfect place to get work done while enjoying a drink or a light snack. The Assam milk bubble tea ($4.80) had a strong black tea flavor while not being too sweet. The boba was also perfectly chewy - not overdone or underdone. They have plenty of outlets next to every table and free WiFi, which is convenient for students. My roommate texted me today and asked to go to a new place and I'm so glad we did. LimeRed opened a few weeks ago right on my school's campus. I had never heard of them so I guess I just didn't pay attention to their soft opening. After going there today, I can already tell that I'll be returning soon. The help was super friendly and offered us free samples of their new lychee ice cream, which was super delicious. We both got the honeycomb waffle with matcha ice cream and it was amazing. They let you choose as many toppings as you'd like from their list, which is super atypical, as most places limit that. The decor inside is super cute. It's so instagrammable that I actually instagrammed on the spot and took more pictures for another day. It is also a really nice atmosphere for studying and my roommate and I stayed for about two hours and weren't interrupted at all. There were enough plugs for us both to find them without any struggle. ALSO there's a whole matcha section for those of y'all who love matcha as much as I do. 10/10 would definitely recommend. read more
Second best bubble tea in MA. The ingredients are quality, and you can actually taste the tea--no powder fake nonsense in these drinks. The boba are usually cooked on point. Highly recommend for a more upscale bubble tea than your standard ultra sweet teas that are more common. read more
I'm excited that there's a coffee/tea place now that has a whole matcha section. In addition they have egg puff waffles and you can get them alone or in a sundae or in a "wafflegato." Our egg puff waffle, which they call honeycomb waffles here, was a lil on the burnt side but still good. The wafflegato comes with a scoop of ice cream, double shot of espresso, and one or all of the following: pocky, whipped cream, and crushed Oreos. There's also a bunch of bubble tea choices and macarons with great flavor options. The owners are from Limoo which used to exist down the street. read more

I have been missing Lime Red in Boston since Limoo shut down, but I was happy to finally get to visit the new Boston Lime Red today! So much nostalgia for the original Amherst location, and I even got to meet Joe the owner! He was super friendly and remembered my friend from the Amherst location, so he talked to us for a while. I got a Taro milk tea, which was delicious and just the right amount of sweet. My friend and I later split one of the Honeycomb waffles with matcha ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate drizzle. OMG. So good!!! And the presentation is beautiful. I even grabbed one of the little cheesecake souflles in a jar on my way out because you get to keep the jar! The actual dessert inside was also delicious and fluffy. :) Overall, a nice new location with a ton of cool lighting and decor. My visit is still during the soft opening, so i'm looking forward to coming back once they add more stuff! read more

I've been to the original location in Amherst, MA and when I heard about the opening of a LimeRed in Boston, I had to check it out The store is located in Brookline and the store is brand new. The decor and atmosphere is very casual and welcoming. The menu selections are: honeycomb waffle, espresso bar, matcha series, fresh fruit tea, bliss smoothie and bubble tea I ordered the honeycomb waffle (an egg puff with ice cream and toppings) and the grapefruit jasmine tea - I typically adjust the sweetness of these drinks but I forgot to and it was actually the perfect amount of sweetness Parking is definitely a pain but there are metered spots around the area and the street right after the store has resident parking spots - but you can park there for two hours within a certain time frame. Very clean and lots of space to hang out and study. Great selection of bubble tea. They use real sugar, milk, and brewed tea so there's no syrup or powder. It's not more expensive than other places either - so you get a better tasting and better for you tea for the same price. Staff is very knowledgable and can give you recommendations. Boba tastes fresh (not ever hard or too chewy!) They serve a very large puffle waffle with ice cream sundae (big enough for two to share!) And I also got a macaron from their large selection of flavors. Overall a really positive experience and I'd go back again for the bubble tea! read more
LimeRed is one of my favorite boba places in Boston! The interior is super cute, with a whole wall of greenery and another wall with different wooden frames/quotes/etc. A lot of people study here, but it does get a bit loud sometimes. They have free unlimited wifi and the place smells amazing because they make their own honeycomb waffle desserts. The only drink I've had is their cappuccino and their strawberry matcha bubble tea, which were both really good. The strawberry matcha was a bit sweet for my taste, but I would still recommend if you haven't had something similar to it yet. I'll definitely be back soon to try other things! read more
Egg waffles and ice cream!! This place has been on my list for so long specifically because of this one dessert, which is the only thing I'm reviewing. Perhaps I'll be back to try the other menu items, but this was the main thing I wanted. It was really good! Two scoops of ice cream (matcha) and egg waffle with up to 8 toppings? But only some are complimentary; others you have to pay a little extra. I got Oreo crumbs and chocolate syrup and Pocky sticks. It was around $8 and would have been a little much for one person but was not quite enough for two. That and the fact that it was so messy to eat took it down a star for me. If you're willing to splurge for a pic-worthy and honestly pretty tasty dessert, though, I'd recommend it! read more

Got a very kind and thoughtful message from the store manager, Ray, about the mishap. In the meantime, I have gotten two more orders from LimeRed which have gone smoothly without any incident (straws included!). Out of all the different bubble tea delivery options available, this is definitely one of the best and I will continue to get boba delivered. Hopefully when the pandemic is in a better place, I will be able to visit them in person in the shop! read more

When made with only fresh ingredients, you can't go wrong. Freshly brewed tea mixed with fresh grapes. You can taste and see the grapes in this drink. read more

It was a huge loss for Allston to lose Limoo Tea bar since I very much loved their real tea ingredients. I was so psyched to hear that this joint was born out of Limoo owners. Same great quality of bubble teas (not the sweet kind, instead an honest rendition of tea leaves). I also heard the matcha drinks are really good, will hold on my judgment until I try it..but for the meantime I will stick to my favorite Grapefruit Jasmine or Jasmine Milk Tea wih aloe. I have been back 4 times in the past few weeks and will continue to be back :) read more

Pretty cute place! Open late on weekdays which is great for post-work bubble tea cravings. Tried their matcha latte iced with boba as well as their cold brew (milk and sugar) with boba. Got both of the drinks with 50% sugar and it was just right. They use Counter Culture coffee for their drinks so their cold brew will be much more satisfying for coffee lovers than perhaps many other shops, it had a great flavor. Their boba was perfectly cooked, we just wish more boba was included. Noticed we ran out while we still had plenty of our drinks left and we usually don't run out until the very end when we order at Kung Fu tea. Just something to keep in mind if you love extra bubbles. Got "just the waffle" to try the egg bubble waffle and it was freshly made, warm and perfectly sweet. Would surely come back and try more of their drinks and perhaps an ice cream waffle option which seem great for sharing. They also seem to offer more unique drink options such as an iced thai tea with coffee which sounds delicious. read more

Cute cafe that serves bubble tea and coffee. The interior is nicely decorated with a wall of picture frames and quotes and another wall of patched grass; perfect for Instagram pics. I ordered the peach tea with jelly drink, which was okay. I had expected more since I read amazing reviews about this place before coming. However, the drink tasted like your typical flavored tea drink. Nothing too special. Granted, this drink isn't the tea house's recommended drink, but for its price of almost $5, I think I can get a better drink elsewhere. read more

Apparently Allston has no shortage of Bubble/Milk Tea places; however, I'm glad LimeRed opened up nearby because this Tea House brings the Honeycomb Waffle Sundae! Puffle cones are all the rage and I'm glad it finally hit Allston! Plus I just miss these waffle cakes - as is, without all the sundae toppings - in general which is common street food in Chinatown New York. Not only does LimeRed bring honeycome waffles, they also have macarons and mille crepe cakes! So many delicious treats nearby - lucky me! read more

I Came back to LimeRed Tea House to give the milk teas another shot. The Assam tea and hot jasmine tea both have a very floral and strong tea flavor which I really liked. However it strays from your average milk teas you find at KFT or Gong Cha. What I really like from this Tea House is the macarons. The flavors of the macarons were distinct and delicious. We got the earl gray, cherry, and honey lavender. Each one of them had strong flavors so there was no mistaking what each one was. The macarons had a nice crunch on the outside and a chewy inside. Although each of them were good, my favorite is the honey lavender and I'll definitely come back for it again! read more

I was hoping I would like this place a bit more because the aesthetics are so cute and the location is great, right at packards corner. I've tried their thai and earl grey milk teas with boba. They don't have as much flavor and definitely are not as sweet as I'm used to drinking. I also tried their waffle egg puff, which was okay, all the caramel, chocolate, and condensed milk were good, but nothing amazing. I think this would be a great place to study or just hang and talk with friends. They have a stars rewards program, so for every $5 you spend you get a star, and I think it's every 10 stars? you can get a free drink. read more

The blueberry and lemon cookies were a 10/10. Very soft and flaky with a chewy blueberry filling with a mochi like texture. Drink lacks flavor a lot. Doesn't taste like strawberry and flowers, only tea. Boba is good quality, very chewy (boba is a little small). read more

The first thing you notice is the cute decor - white walls, potted plants, adorable paintings, wooden tables. It feels like a place you can hang out at with friends, read a book or do some work. I love that they serve iced earl gray tea (along with other loose leaf teas like Moroccan mint) with toppings! I think this is the only bubble tea place I've been to in Boston that does that (only other place is gong cha in manhattan). My tea was very refreshing and I couldn't stop drinking it! They also sell snacks like honeycomb waffles w ice cream and macarons. I couldn't resist the caramel brûlée! I love the crunchy bits that surround the macaron and the fun bag It comes in. Definitely get the honeycomb waffle sundae. Comes with Pocky sticks, Oreo crumbs, chocolate drizzle, caramel drizzle, and whipped cream. Mochi is an extra 50 cents. The waffle itself was very crispy and soft on the inside. We also got a slice of matcha crepe cake which was okay. The ones at Lady M are much better. read more
My first impression of this place was that it was cute. They bake and prep everything the night before, which was reassuring that their baked goods are fresh. It was a pleasant surprise to see that they sell Butter Mochi here too! They said their old baker was from Hawaii (hence the butter Mochi recipe) but I'm excited to try that next time. The workers are friendly, which is always a plus! They offer WiFi, so a lot of students come here to do work or just catch up. Now for the drinks... I got the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk and was mildly disappointed. I think if there's any room for improvement, this would be it. The consistency is way too thick, which makes the drink not as refreshing as an iced latte should be... I've had it at other places, and the one at LimeRed tasted too sour? It might've been the strawberries, but the flavors were just off. So, that's one thing maybe the creative team can work on! Also, I think the music was a little toooo loud for a cafe. It ruined the atmosphere a little bit, but overall I wouldn't object to giving this place another try. My friend got the honey comb waffle with ice cream and that was so good! Love coming here for dessert. The egg puff waffle sundaes are delicious. I got my sundae with vanilla ice cream, Oreos and chocolate sauce, and ate the whole thing alone, but you can definitely share. The sundae come to around $8, so not the cheapest. The bubble tea is also good here. Obsessed with the inside, really cute decor. Located near BU, it's also a pretty cozy place to study. read more

I love LimeRed! It's one of my favorite places to study in Allston. My partner went to UMass Amherst and visited the Amherst location often, and was very excited that LimeRed had a location in our neighborhood. I love that their menu has many options, specifically for matcha drinks! While I love coffee, I like that they combine matcha with espresso or your favorite coffee to create a happy, caffeinated medium. My partner chose the Thai tea latte with grass jelly while I ordered the matcha Americano latte, both iced. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, so I'm looking forward to my next study session at LimeRed. read more

Ordered the Assam milk tea with boba. Tea flavor is fine and the boba were chewy, which is good. But the egg waffle was the worst I had in Boston. It's burnt and there's no egg flavor in it. I got invited by the owner to give the waffle a second chance, so I returned to try the waffle sundae today and liked it a lot. Both red bean and green tea ice cream are flavorful, and surprisingly the egg waffle didn't get soggy but as a matter of fact still crispy even with ice cream sitting on it for a while. I still wish the waffle has a stronger egg flavor though. Also ordered the espresso coconut latte, nice with a hint of coconut flavor, which is just enough. read more

I was in Boston for a day trip and after a long morning driving we ended up here to relax. LimeRed has a really chill vibe with lounge chairs and really cute wall decoration. There's also plenty of room to sit and do work. My friends and I came here for some fruit tea but I was really surprised with the qualitea (heh) of the tea and the boba. Particularly the boba was well done, which was really quite a surprise to me because I have unsually high expectations when it comes to boba. They also serve egg waffles that smelled and looked really good but my group didn't get it because we were stuffed with lunch already. Anyway, this is a solid boba shop and would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a quick pick me up or simply somewhere to hang and relax with some friends. 8/10 for the vibes and the value :) read more

Super cute tea shop. The aesthetic is simple and fresh. One of the walls is covered in a lush-looking yet fake leaves. The other wall is full of succulents, plants, flowers, and other decorations. They have a variety drinks including a wide assortment of teas: milk, bubble, hot or cold, smoothies, with the option to add boba, and coffees. They also have such cute desserts! They sell dozens of homemade macaroons of all the flavors you could imagine: pistachio, Nutella, coconut, peanut butter, vanilla. rose lychee, passion fruit, white chocolate, and cherry blossom to name a few. I saw that they were $3 each, which is fairly pricey for a small cookie, but macaroons are generally more expensive than most treats. They also have a wide assortment of Pocky sticks, some of which I had never seen before like cookies and cream or blueberry. I ordered the Thai Milk tea with boba and enjoyed it. It was delivered to me incredibly fast. Definitely would go there again. Also seems like an ideal place to study. read more
