We have lived in this area for almost 2 years and cannot believe we have only recently tried this place. Our go to takeout spot use to be Famous Xian Foods but since that burned down we needed a new one and Lim's takes the spot for us. Everything was so good and reasonably priced and we are so excited to have a delicious Korean spot by us! I have been watching a lot of K dramas too so the craving has been real. We ordered the seafood pancake, black bean noodles, korean fried chicken, rice cake and dumpling soup. We would order every single item again. The fried chicken's sauce was so good and was still hot after being delivered to us. The rice cake and dumpling soup had a ton of rice cakes in it and the broth was very tasty. I am no black bean noodle expert but I thought the mild sweetness to the sauce was good and with takeout they separate the sauce and noodles so you can save the sauce for another helping of noodles! Seafood pancake had generous amount of seafood in it and was thick and you can easily just pan fry the leftovers and it's good as new! The tteokboki was on point. It's not too sweet like most places and they give a decent size. The kimbap was also packed, I wish it had more sesame flavor but for LIC I thought this was great. There are definitely certain foods that really hit the spot on a cold winter day: noodle soups, hot pot, chicken noodle soup, and Korean stews make the list for me as well (basically any kind of hot soup, the clear common denominator here). Soondubu Jjigae or Korean Tofu Soup/Stew has a good number of variations that are all pretty bomb depending on what you're in the mood for. So while craving Korean (not their fried chicken this time), we ordered the following items: Haemul Pajeon (seafood pancake), Japchae (glass noodles with beef bulgogi and vegetables) plus the seafood Soondubu Jjigae. We ordered this for delivery and soups can be a bit tricky sometimes. This was packaged pretty well, in a separate plastic tub with a plastic bag in case of leakage. Our order also came with some cute banchan: a small mac salad, fish cake slices and pickled daikon. This was also a nice touch especially for delivery. Now onto the food! The banchan were decent with our favorite being the mac salad. We were also pleased with the pancake though it wasn't as crisp post transit which was expected. The Japchae held up nicely and was very tasty. The bulgogi was cut in smaller pieces, well seasoned and complemented the noodles and vegetables with its light sauce. I poured my soondubu into a separate bowl so it'd be easier to eat and really enjoyed this too! It was just the right amount of spicy for me (the bf felt it was a little much) and had a good amount of seafood in it. As I was halfway through I was sad since I remembered there's usually an egg on top and wasn't sure where that went. Shortly after I found it at the bottom of the container! I really like that the soup is spicy because both types of heat really warm you up and leave you with a pleasant feeling in your stomach. I saw Lim's had a kimchi version, dumpling version and several other soondubus as well so I'm excited to order from them again and would recommend trying them out whether it's via delivery or if you're in the area! I know their kim bap seem very popular and I can't speak to it but would definitely want to try it in the future! Happy to add another place to the list of regulars. read more

Ordered delivery from here for lunch one day and everything was delicious. Delivery was very quick and the food packaging was excellent (no spills with the 2 soups that came with the orders) and the plastic container for the spicy pork bibimbap is very large which makes it very easy to mix everything, just add the rice and spicy red paste, close the lid and shake it up! It also comes with a couple small sides, including a soup, which was great. The bulgogi kimbap was also amazing and I highly recommend. **Delivery Review** Friday night, was able to put an order in through Uber eats for this distant restaurant. Interesting menu of Korean favorites with its own twist. Decided on the Bulgogi Kimbap ($10) as well as the 5wing/3drumstick Chicken Combo ($16). Food arrived in about an hour, still warm and packed tightly with all the food. First up, the kimbap is sliced into 10 sections - similar to a sushil roll but stuffed with bulgogi meat. Basically a rice bowl in a singular bite - but without any of the accompanying sauces (thankfully had some chili sauce at home). Chicken combo is a hefty box of fried chicken marinated in a sweet/spicy sauce. Not overly breaded and the spice level is just right. Dishes also came with some miso soup and a white vegetable that were more of an afterthought. Value is just right for the amount of food you get. I saw the hype around Lim's Kitchen at Yelp so I decided to order delivery. Maybe I should've gone for kimbap but I was craving bibimbap and it didn't go so well. Bulgogi was dry and flavorless. I saw someone mentioned bibimbap has too much sesame oil, but I couldn't taste that either. The bowl was overall very bland and lacked flavor. The only thing I liked in there was that it included sweet burdock pieces. The side dish was disappointing as well - miso soup is so thin that I wondered why they bothered to add it as a side dish. I can make better soup than that. For pickles, they used very soft and mushy cucumber pieces, which I absolutely avoid when using cucumbers in any way. I don't know why but I was craving kimbap for the longest time, and after I stumbled across Lim's Kitchen, I just could not shake that craving off! I was in the area and decided to swing by for a late lunch/early dinner at 4pm. I placed my order via the Yelp app. This isn't a place that you can go in and order so definitely make sure you call your order in or place it online. I ordered the Bulgogi Kimbap (~$9) and Shrimp Tempura Kimbap (~$9). They said it would take about 15-20 minutes and by the time I got there, it was ready! I called them and they brought the food down to me, and I was on my way! Each Kimbap order comes with a side of Miso Soup which I thought was a nice touch! It was warm, light, and went well with the kimbap. The Kimbap aka a Korean Sushi Roll was made beautifully and loaded with the typical ingredients you would expect! I like that it wasn't overpowering with rice. They even threw in a dessert cookie which was a nice gesture. I was surprisingly full from these 2 orders, considering I shared it with 2 other people. My favorite Korean place in Astoria, and by far the best kimbap and yukaejang in the neighborhood. I've stopped by several times and the portions are always generous and the food is always on point! So because of that, I would probably not come here again. As for the food, we split the spicy chicken burger first. It was very very very thin, with no more than a centimeter thick of chicken, and with about twice as much breading as chicken. Just ordered from Lim's today and had to write a review as soon as we finished. What we ordered: Seafood soondubu stew - I think they forgot to add any salt because it was extremely bland. Wasn't a big deal since we can just add the salt ourselves but also add as much as we wanted. The flavor of the soup was there, just needed some salt. Kimchi stew - the quality of the kimchi seemed a little off. Was kinda hard/chewy. But like the soondubu stew, the flavor was there, quite tasty. Spicy tuna kimbap - pretty decent kimbap. Wasn't anything special but still good. Wish it came with a side of kimchi though. Spicy rice cake - this was definitely the highlight of our order. The consistency and chewiness of the rice cake was absolutely PERFECT. Didn't taste or feel like it was previously frozen or in the fridge for a long time at all. Can't believe I didn't hear about Lim's kitchen until now! Really helping round out the LIC food game - in the past few years we've added a lot of great new restaurants but one thing that was missing was a solid Korean spot. Looks like we now have Lim's kitchen to fill that void! Tried both their bibimbap and kimbap. Food also came with 2 sides, miso soup, and a chocopie! Kimbap was superb - I can be quite picky about my kimbap and Lim's passed the bar. I was surprised by how much I even liked their vegetarian one, which was packed with super umami mushrooms, but of course beef is generally my go to for kimbap. Another upside of kimbap is that it is great for takeout and keeps super well. The bibimbap wasn't bad though I found it a bit heavy on the sesame oil for my tastes. But it came with a nice diversity of vegetables and I presume it would have tasted better mixed all together in a restaurant rather than as takeout. So have to give the win to the kimbap here for takeout - definitely get one of them if you're ordering here. read more

I ordered from this restaurant based on reviews from other Koreans saying this was authentic Korean food or that it tasted like food from Korea. It was way too overhyped. 3 stars for effort and it only being my first order from here. Who knows? Maybe another menu item would've been better. Their menu seems to be more (boonsik) themed but they do have a large selection of items (which I'm always apprehensive of at Korean restaurants since there's a lack of focus of type of food). I ordered the (jjajangmyun) and & (spicy squid kimbap & tonkotsu kimbap). The only came with (pickled radish) and no kimchi or onions. Each kimbap came with miso soup. - /Jjajangmyun: It contained a lot of onions and a few pieces of (pork). It looked promising, but the smell was different than what I expect from . When I tried it, the sauce was too sweet. I know to not order / from places that don't specialize in it, but I was giving it a shot. Next time I'll have to make sure to order something different instead. The was also oddly salty... and thankfully as a Korean I have kimchi at home so it helped eat the dish. - /kimbap: Lackluster. I'm usually never impressed by most kimbap other than one made by my mom, but this was subpar compared to most. The rice was a bit "soggy"--it didn't have the consistency of what rice should have. The /spicy squid one was decent. I wish there was some more squid in it though--there was a bit too much rice and other ingredients. The /tonkotsu one was not a fave. Somehow it brought out a staleness in the rice. Really underwhelmed this time around, but willing to try a different dish in the future for a trade off for this harsh review. read more

So good! My husband and I found our new go to Korean place. Living in Astoria, we tried the few Korean options but still missing good traditional cuisine. Thanks to a Grubhub search during coronavirus, this LIC gem came up and so glad we tried it. Kimchi Jigae was spicy and fatty, kimchi bokeumbap was tasty and comforting (could have been a little spicier for our taste), tuna kimbap was fresh with sweet takuan. Chicken wings were a little disappointing considering that's where the bulk of the great reviews concentrated on. We ordered 10 wings but came as a combo, no big deal so my husband can try it but the drumsticks had a bit too much fried breading and not enough soy garlic sauce. Not a deal breaker, just didn't expect it. But the best part, they taped a thank you note on a free soda can with Happy Easter. So kind!
