The pho and spicy lemongrass noodle soups were really good! Broth had depth, meat was tender and beef balls were homemade (soft texture). There is no tendon or tripe on the menu though. Pricing is on the higher end but not unheard of for the alternatives in the area ~$18-19 per pre tax and tip. The biggest disappointment was the spring roll because I loveee a good spring roll. This had lots of oil when biting into it and texture was a bit chewy even though we ate it fresh at the restaurant. The system here is a bit unique. I signed up for waitlist online and received a text when table was ready. I tried to call the restaurant but no one picked up and I showed up 5 min later. The hostess said I was a no show and took me off the list already which was so odd because there was no option to indicate I'm coming or almost there, and it was only a few minutes later. We were still able to be seated right away because we were willing to share a large table with another seated party of two while everyone else waiting didn't want to do that. Then you order directly on your phone but pay by flagging someone down. And be prepared to pay 3% surcharge for credit cards (not even sure if they take cash because she just told us to tap the portable and there was no indication of fees). Would definitely come back just for the noodle soups! Glad a closer great pho option is in the neighborhood.

We came here on a Sunday at around 7pm and every table was filled and people were waiting to eat. We put our name down with a telephone number and walked around the area for about 30-40 minutes. They did call asking if we would share a table but we chose not to and then walked over to make sure they didn't take us off the list completely. You order your food off a QR code. The short rib pho was so good and had so much short rib meat. It was tender and flavorful. The broth had a little sweetness to it. I enjoyed it. My partner got the spicy lemongrass soup and added extra spicy lemongrass. It had great lemongrass flavor and I enjoyed the meatballs as they seemed homemade and not as packed/dense. We enjoyed our meal and the service was great.

I'm really living for all the new Asian Halal places opening up in Astoria, Queens. First it was Prime No. 7, and now a Vietnamese spot!! I came here on a Friday evening (it definitely gets packed and there was a wait time so I recommend try to reserve a table, if it's an option). I went for the beef short rib pho and I shared calamari with my friend. The pho is very big by the way and can easily be shared by two people. To be honest, I wasn't too much of a fan of the ribs but that had nothing to do with the restaurant (I should've known it was gonna be very chewy as that does tend to be the nature with ribs) . However, the broth and noodles itself was really great. The flavors are really immersed in there and my friend who generally does not eat halal sad it tastes like other Vietnamese places. Next time, I'm definitely going to go for the banh mi (it was unfortunately sold out when I was there) and try a different pho. Will definitely come back!

Finally there's a place in new york that has decent pho! I went here with a friend during its grand opening and ordered a spicy lemongrass pho. The broth and spices were absolute perfection. I went the following week with someone else to show them that a unicorn of good pho just arrived in Astoria. The service is great too - they're very attentive and fast!

So happy to have one more halal pho spot in Queens! I had pho with brisket and steak and it was very soft. The broth was spicy and not too heavy and the noodles were silky smooth. The staff were very kind and attentive.

first time getting halal pho but this place is solid. portions are generous with noodle, meat, and toppings. the pho broth wasnt very flavorful to me but the spices and toppings more than make up for it. halal meatballs were interesting. when i stopped by it was pretty late but they were still packed and i waited 15 mins. felt a bit understaffed but seevice was nice.

My friend and I came here to eat for lunch. The pho, the calamari, the skewers, and the Vietnamese iced coffee were amazing! The staff had us seated right away, and the food did not take long to be served. I would recommend this place and will come back to eat!

This is a new halal Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood (they have another location in Edison, NJ). I would give this place 4.5 stars. We went on a Saturday evening and the place was pretty busy. We were promptly seated. We viewed the menu via the QR code at the table and placed our order with a server who came by shortly. We started off with the spring rolls. They came to the table piping hot, with some lettuce and mint to wrap it in before dipping into the fish sauce. The pho beef combo (large) came with brisket, steak, beef balls, and tendon. The broth was flavorful and the meat was tender, but my SO didn't care for the mushy texture of the beef balls. I had the grilled rice platter with a combo of four types of meat: grilled chicken, fried chicken, grilled beef, and grilled shrimp. The meat was well seasoned, tender, and tasty, and was accompanied by white rice, tomatoes, cucumber, shredded lettuce, and pickled carrots/daikon. I had ordered a soda lemonade, but I wish the sugar syrup at the bottom was better blended since I was getting globs of syrup when drinking through a straw. The meal was delicious, but a little pricy (the pho was $17.95 and the rice platter with the combo of four meats was $23.95). This is a good option for when I don't want to trek out to Jackson Heights for a bowl of pho.

    Spicy beef lemongrass Pho

Big stars for this recently opened place. I had the spicy beef lemongrass pho which was perfectly spiced with plenty of heat but not so much to overpower the fresh, high quality ingredients so perfectly executed. The thin sliced beef was soft and tender, noodles nice and chewy and onions wonderfully wilted with broth and flavor. Really delicious. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Even had been asked multiple times if I wanted more accessories (beans sprouts, jalepenos, basil or fresh lime). Took home their Dan Dan noodles as that is one of my baseline foods and while interestingly different from the traditional versions I'm used to, was delicous none the less. Bouncy/chewy noodles and a nutty, earthy, spicy sauce and I do recall the unmistakable buzz and tingle of real Sichuan peppercorn. I will be back!

The short rib itself was also overcooked, leaving the meat a bit tough and rough. On the bright side, I ordered an extra side of brisket and enjoyed that much more than the short rib. The broth overall lacked a deep, rich beef flavor. Saigon Shaking Beef (4.25/5): The standout dish of the night. The beef was absolutely delicious and perfectly flavored, though pairing it with arugula felt a little odd. Beef Wrapped Betel Leaf (3.5/5): This was just okay. Everyone was just so genuine and friendly to be around. Came here to the Astoria location during their 11th year anniversary promotion yesterday. First 100 customers in line would receive a limited-edition sippy glass tumbler with attached boba straw & removable lid cover with his/her in-store purchase. They accept both cash and debit/credit card. The line was effectively managed with no line cutters, no arguing, and nothing crazy going on. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience. Lots of people have still showed up despite the really cold weather & down-pouring. Nothing gonna stop me from getting the cute glassware. Store opened and promotion started at 12:05pm. Everyone just ordered one by one towards the front when it was his/her turn. The Vietnamese Cloud Coffee was $7.52 (after tax). Hot/iced + medium/large drinks have different set of prices btw. Staff then handed me the glassware & a free sampler bowl of their soon-to-launch either lemongrass chicken/pork rice bowl after accepting payment. Portion was definitely more on the generous side to say the least. Devoured the sampler bowl in 15 mins because I was hungry & aside from keeping the rain not getting into the food. Flavorful lemongrass chicken + appetizing pickled carrot + fresh, crunchy sliced cucumber laid on a blanket of fluffy white rice. All the ingredients went well together. This is something I would definitely buy for lunch/dinner if this item ever gets added to the menu in the future. I ordered a hot Vietnamese Cloud Coffee, a new drink on the menu. My first time actually ordering a hot drink from Tea & Milk. Usually go for the iced drinks but I was feeling quite cold. So, I needed something hot to hold in my hands. Vietnamese Cloud Coffee - Cà Phê Trứng (Egg Coffee) is made with egg yolks + Vietnamese coffee powder. Lastly, it's lightly sweetened with condensed milk to give off an all-around creamy texture and taste similar to tiramisu. Something created with such simple ingredients yet could feel so soothing at the same time. A hot coffee-based drink on a cold, rainy day is like a snuggly hug. Staff called out your name when it was ready for pickup. Love starting my day off with the strong flavor of Vietnamese coffee! By far, this might actually be the best tasting Vietnamese coffee I have had in all my years. And, I'm usually not a coffee person either. Didn't taste watered down and/or heavily sweetened at all. Everything's just right. Definitely would be going back next time for other coffee/fruit tea drinks.

Joju specializes in modern Vietnamese cuisine, serving meals like bahn mi, loaded fries, and rice meals. The menu recently added soy garlic wings, and since I am a fiend for Asian-style fried chicken, I of course had to have it. While all of the beverages looked tempting, especially their non-alcoholic soju refreshers, I needed caffeine to offset the afternoon slump that was about to follow, so I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. The wings were huge! It was notably crunchy, saucy, and juicy. There was a decent skin to meat ratio, (I so hate biting into a mouthful of breading), and the meal came out piping hot. It was clear the chicken had been fried per order. Those who know me know that I can't live without rice and would eat it with almost any meal, including fried chicken, so I did request it on the side, although the wings don't come with it. The man who took my order did me a solid and served it with mine, anyway. Good lad! I've been wanting to try Vietnamese coffee for a while now, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Sweet with a bitter backend - but not too bitter! I'm still new to coffee, and I pucker up at anything too intense. This was just right. My meal at Joju satisfied me, mind, body, and soul. I hope it is here to stay, and I hope that a shop like this is a catalyst for other quick Asian food stops to follow. Korean and Filipino restaurants - I'll be waiting!
