Dammit Lindy's. You used to be amazing.... Your seafood, your lobster rolls, your drinks. Now you went and ruined it. Even in the tiny space we were able to walk in, talk to an awesome host/hostess and grab a drink while we wait for the table. Now... we 've walked in twice, both times greeted by a hostess who seemed more irritated than pleased for more customers. Both times, was told there were 10 parties ahead, ok... then was asked and told the # in our party, to be told "well you'll be waiting even longer with 6", ok.... when I asked an estimate, I received a "we can't tell you that, we have no idea", ok... This place has it DOWN with when to use cornmeal or not and keeping it light regarding the beer battered items. The onion rings are thin and light and magically fried. The beer battered fish n chips fish is a wonderful portion of crispy/flaky heaven. Defiantly NOT overly battered like some places. You can tell these people were trained by angels of the deep! The hand cut fries are also perfection. The clams, scallops and all items on the seafood platter are simply mind blowing. Great portions and appropriate pricing. Prime rib was so good! I ordered it for take out and it was still delicious after an hour! The fried scallops were big and tasty even without tartar sauce. I substituted the fries with onion rings and they were perfectly crunchy with a flaky batter. We also got the lobster roll. While big in size and looked great, I felt it lacked taste. We stumbled upon Lindy's through Yelp and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. The half roasted chicken was unbelievable. So tasty, moist and flavorful. And then there's the cornbread it is served with, we gobbled it up. Both my husband and I were extremely satisfied. We noticed from those eating around us that the steamers are very popular and the lobster roll looked pretty amazing as well. We plan to return and check out the prime rib next time. Stopped by on a Sunday couple of weeks ago and it was a nice fall day out, sunny but a little nippy in the air. Was a great day for a bike ride as there were quite a few motorcycles on the premises. So Lindys is quite a small tavern With around 5 tables and 3 high tops and the bar Looks like a regular local watering hole. Crowd seems friendly and the games on the TVs And a constant flow of customers we waited for 30 minutes for a table which was just fine and we jumped right into action. Ordered up the snail salad sliced paper thin but was tender and different from others I've had. Tasted like there was cumin used in the seasoning. It was delightful. Next was the wings .50 each special Nice freshly fried your choice of dressing. Wings was very enjoyable. Wife had the fish and chips and I selected the whole belly clams and we both sub the fries for the onion strings. Big piece of fish I found the beer batter a little too burnt and oily my clams was really nice and the onion strings was some of the best ever. Finished off with the apple pie ala mode and the brownie sundae. Was happy without the desert. So here is establishment where unless someone recommended or like myself and referenced it in yelp and follow the other yelpers to the most unassuming joint to find such a hidden gem. We consistently ordered takeout here for the last couple years since the pandemic. We tend to order early since we know how busy they can get. The food every time has been so good! I'm obsessed with their clam strips. It is my go to order. My husband usually gets the turkey club and is always satisfied with it. The portions are super generous and prices are very reasonable. We did order their chicken parm once and we could have easily split one order. Two was enough to feed a family of 4! Went to Lindy's this past Monday around 3 pm. The place was crowded, so we put our name in, asked to sit at the bar and was told there were 4 parties ahead of us. No big deal. Walked up to the bar and was able to get a couple of drinks after waiting for about 10 minutes...again, the place was very busy, so no problem with that. Waited outside and was seated approximately a half hour after we put our name in, so that was great...or so we thought. When we were led to our seats I could see that 2 seats at the bar opened up....WHY DIDNT I ASK FOR THOSE SEATS??? That was my bad. After waiting at least 10 minutes, our waitress Dawn came over and asked if we would like a couple more drinks. We said yes and also put in an order for calamari app. (Served with cocktail sauce, not marinara) what's up with that? Dawn came over about 10 minutes later and said they lost the slip and only made one drink, so they were making the next one. (We had Jack & coke and Jack & ginger) so I'm not sure how that happened. 20 minutes later our calamari came out...it wasn't that hot and it wasn't that good. Finally, we put our order in...15 minutes later, Dawn tells us, they ran out of steak so we change that to a bowl of chili. By this time, the 2 people who got those seats at the bar already have their meals. About a half hour later, after being in our seats for 2 hours, the people at the bar have paid and left and we still don't have our food. We told the bartender that we want to cancel our meal. Dawn comes over and apologized for the wait and says the food is coming up now....she was nice and apologetic and obviously way too busy, but we were sick of waiting. Paid our bill and left. Definitely won't be back. We would have went to Lucky Dog if it was open. read more
