As fate would have it, I've now had the chance to visit both Link N Hops locations. (On different days...) We started in Atwater Village in July before a "Poetry Circus" event happening nearby in Griffith Park. As a vegetarian family, to be able to go into a beer and sausage place and have so many options, is quite a coup in the comfort food world for us. They have 4 kinds of vegan sausage available to build sandwiches around, plus a Beyond Burger which doubles as perfect for gluten free people...like my wife. I had the Smoked Apple Sausage with onions, cheddar cheese and sweet peppers. And I added whole grain mustard at the table. This was messy but DELICIOUS. I complemented this with a sour beer from their extensive beer menu. I made a note that thi was from San Diego, but by the time I was ready to write down the actual brewery, I was well into the beer and what I typed made no sense...let's just say, whatever this sour beer was, it was perfect. I loved it. Actually everything was delicious. (And that's not just the beer talking...) My wife did have a Beyond Burger, wrapped in lettuce to complete her gluten-free comfort food fantasy...it was perfectly cooked, pink on the inside, just like they recommend you do. We shared a side of perfectly thick french fries which came with two choices of sauce (we got BBQ and curry ketchup and enjoyed both.) This was the perfect comfort meal. With a location, slightly closer in Sunland Tujunga, we're getting really close to the "it's all over" benchmark for when an insanely crave-worthy vegetarian sausage experience starts to drain all the money out of our bank account. Speaking of the Sunland Tujunga location...I was randomly driving home (to Van Nuys) from La Canada Flintridge (Sunland Tujunga...La Canada Flintridge...what is it about these towns along the 210 that need to team up???) hoping to spot something to eat and how delighted I was to find another Link N Hops! I was again coming from a poetry reading (what is it with vegetarian sausage and before or after poetry events???) I again get the Vegan Smoked Apple and fries which was again delicious...I also thought the woman behind the counter was so incredibly friendly and endearing. Besides the fact that I love the food, she made me feel so welcome at the restaurant. What a wonderful beacon of customer service light! We're just waiting for another Link N Hops to open even closer...maybe just over the mountain in Burbank...then North Hollywood...then Van Nuys...then it will, truly, all be over. read more

Five stars for good food and amazing customer service. A winning combination that's very hard to find these days. Most of the time, you get good food but customer service sucks while some others, get customer service right but food sucks. This establishment in Atwater Village is highly recommended for getting it right. While it's known to be a bar offering 24 domestic and international craft beer, they also offer gourmet sausages (including vegan options). Although they have hoppy hour and late night specials for drinks, I didn't come here for that reason as I don't drink beer or any alcohol. That doesn't mean that I'll skip this kind of place. Who says no for a sausage craving? Not me, that's for sure! So I had the off the menu item, Fries Gone Wild with Large Belgium Fries, bratwurst sausage, nacho cheese, tomatoes, sautéed onions and jalapeños. I was assisted by a very friendly guy, Andy who surprised me with a big plate of this awesome deliciousness served in a newspaper designed liner. One bite, I literally screamed OMG! It was so good! The fries, the sausage, the sauce, the veggies, they were all jaw dropping! It was one hell of a treat! I literally felt like I did myself a favor for indulging in this heavenly plate of goodness. I will definitely be back, not for the drinks but for their good food. I will probably try the $6 sausage lunch special. read more

It was a good options for us on a Friday night because it was open later (we ate at 9:45). Not too busy then either so food came fast. Fries were yummy though! So I was on search was on for a chill neighborhood spot to watch the Super Bowl last night. I actually parked in the lot of Link n Hops to pickup something in the AM across the street. I decided to pop in there and check it out around 11:45am. Was greeted by Ricardo who was very friendly and answered my questions if they were gonna be showing the game. Took some pics to share with my group of friends and we decided to come back in around 2pm get a good spot for the game. There was some people there but we got a spot. Ricardo and Zell were soo friendly and hospitable! Explained the menu and beyond helpful! They have a wide select of draft beers along with some canned specials (along with kambuchas). If you're in Atwater Village and looking for a beer or some quick vegetarian food, this is a solid spot. I've been a couple times and I'm not a drinker so I can't really vouch for that experience though their beer menu on the wall seemed to be pretty impressive. I've had the beyond sausage and, again, it's a good option if you're in the mood for that. I've had the spicy pepper one, though, and it's a little much. The pepper is so spicy that it overpowers the actual joy of the rest of the beyond sausage in my mind. So, I'd suggest maybe not ordering anything with their peppers unless you want to mostly have the flavor of spiciness in your mouth. The environment is a little dark for my liking but it's, you know, a bar so I get it but I don't drink anymore so maybe part of that is on me. Being that it's in a strip mall and its kind of darkness to it, there's something about the place that doesn't make me feel like hanging out for a long period of time there. I think that Link n Hops falls somewhere in between a 3 and 4 star rating but I've put it at 3 simply because I don't put it at the top of my list of food places personally to go to when in Atwater Village. If you want a beer, go for it. If you want to watch a game in a decent enough environment, go for it. Mostly, I find myself here if I happen to be around the area at a later hour and their kitchen is still open. It serves its purpose well for that for a "late night vegetarian in Atwater." read more

You know when you are so excited to try a new place...You read the menu...You see what you like...You order it....You get it...And...It disappoints you. That's how I feel right now with Link N Hops. I got the rattlesnake sausage with grilled onions and peppers. On the side, fries with the blue cheese crumbles. I am kicking myself after I placed my order as they give fries for free with every Yelp check in (rookie mistake) AND $7 off Grubhub delivery over $15...I could have taken advantage of one or the other...D'oh! In any case, the bartenders were nice enough to put my order in front of a large one so it took about 10 minutes. It was take out so I got my Albertson's paper bag (it was huge) and I went on my merry way. When I got home, I opened the fries with blue cheese...A nice portion size for a small order...But...The fries were refried! Oily and too crispy, like a potato chip. I should have seen that coming when I saw them just sitting in the basket. The blue cheese crumbles for an extra $.75 made up for it...a little. Now onto the sausage. Good flavor but it was swimming in the bun. The bun to link ratio way waaaaaaaay off and I felt cheated for paying $15 for a meal I would put at $12 max. Will I return? Mmmmmm. Link N Hops is delicious! ==FOOD== LOVED the Hot & Spicy Italian sausage. Every sausage includes 2 toppings, so I got the diced onions & jalapenos. Add some mustard & ketchup... perfect combo. You can add additional toppings for $0.75 each, I believe. The hot & spicy italian had just the right amount of kick to it, very flavorful & yummy. Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a free small order of Belgian Fries, with sauce of choice. We got the chipotle sauce and it was really good. The fries were amazing, not too fat (not a fan of huge fries) and came out piping hot. WARNING- DON'T get the beer here. Ugh, I ordered a stout and it was FLAT. There is nothing worse than a FLAT beer that you feel obligated to chug down b/c you paid $$ for it. Minus 1 star for the shitty beer. ==AMBIANCE== Love the ambiance here. It's a gastropub, with 3 big flat screen TVs on the walls, so nobody has to strain their neck trying to see that TV far far away.... lol. The service was good. It was lunch time and I was thinking get here early so I would not hit the crowd. Well there was no crowd but maybe a handful of customers. They have a private lot that they share with 55 wine, Starbucks and Crispy Crust. Sometimes you will have people who park there and walk down Atwater. Which kinda sucks when your looking for parking. The food was good. I actually like how sausage or shall I say Links taste. I was not a big fan of links but I guess after trying different kinds I maybe a fan now. Thanks Link N Hops. But back to the food. The ONLY thing I did not like was the grass fed burger. It was dry and not much taste. Not sure if it's because the burger was a shape of a Link or because it was grass fed. Someone else had the idea first. Link N Hops just moved the beer/wiener idea closer to everyone in Atwater, Los Feliz and Silverlake. Kudos to Link N Hops. First off...the Link N Hops is in the nice area of Atwater where there's plenty of parking (metered, neighbor parking, etc). No looking for DTLA parking. The service, the bartender were cool. He took care of us, even gave us a free sample of the double fried fries on the house as we were first time patrons. Way to bring business in. Different beers on tap or in bottles, exotic links and a nice atmosphere for happy hour or dinner. NO LONG LINES, NO LOUD MUSIC PLAYING, PLENTY OF SEATING AND BENCH SEATING. My new go to place without the wait and the same style of food and beer. They also have plenty of TVs for your sports. read more

Saw this place on a Netflix show! Definitely was a great combo of a variety of beer on tap and variety of sausages. So the boo and I decided to try it out. The variety of offerings is astounding including exotic varieties like wild boar, rattlesnake and duck. Also a great selection of beer on tap. So we tried pork and cheese, duck and bacon, wild boar and bacon andouille, and rattlesnake and jalapeño. The great way is get a few and have them cut in half, so you can try more than one of these beautiful sausages. The char and great snap of the natural casing they use give great mouth feel. Came here during lunch on a weekday and the place was pretty quite. I have heard about their sausages forever and finally got a chance to try them out! Unfortunately since I don't eat pork my options were limited on what I could try. But their vegan options were great and I honestly could not tell the difference between a meat sausage and vegan! Of course I added cheese and onions on top of my sausage which took it to the next level! Their french fries are also a MUST. The down side is that it is a bit on the pricey side but if you are not limited on what type of sausage you can eat they have a lot of lunch specials. read more

Now that that's out of the way...Link N Hops has a HUGE selection of sausages and brats, it's like legitimately overwhelming to make a selection, which is why I ended up getting a platter. If I had to make one recommendation - the duck and bacon sausage was BOMB. They also have really delicious fries and a great selection of beer. We were a bit confused at first, but you seat yourself and go up to the bar to order. They give you a number and bring your food out when it's ready. They have a little parking lot but there is also a lot of street parking, and a big bonus is that Wanderlust Creamery is across the street so you can have a nice dessert :) We will definitely be back here for the great food and service! read more

Good place to hang out with friends. But it is just another place that popped up in this strip. This place is like a smaller sister copy of wurstkuche in downtown LA. They have interesting choices of meat as well and a variety of hoppy beer choices. I tried the duck and bacon jalapeño and fries with cucumber wasabi dipping sauce. sounds weird? 3.5 stars for Link N Hops I went here for lunch on a lazy Sunday. We ordered the polish sausage ($~7), duck jalapeño sausage (~$8), and large fries ($5). The place has an outdoor area with tables and chairs so you can get some fresh air while munching on beer and dogs. You order inside and they serve it to you (they give you a number card). The duck jalepeno sausage didn't really taste like duck but it was fine. I personally like the polish sausage a lot better. The fries were tasty but a little on the salty side so I just shook off the excess salt. I love the dipping sauces! Get the spicy hawaiian and aioli. Overall, a decent place to get a sausage but I like Wurstkuche better. :) Great service and clean restrooms. You can park in their small lot or on the street. read more

I go to Link N Hops once a year, every year, on a "holiday" that my friend made up. It's always a blast, but it is always very understaffed for the 40 or so of us who show up. This would be a 5 star review if they would just listen when we call ahead and put another bartender on staff! Come for the sausages and beer, stay for the impossible golf-ball-in-a-snowglobe game! In all seriousness, the food here is fantastic. Any and every sausage I've ordered has been incredible: get it on a bed of lettuce if you're watching your carbs, or upgrade to the plate to try many flavors with a few sauces and sides! Also be sure not to skip out on the fries, they are thick and fried perfectly. The beer selection here is no joke, they obviously put serious thought and effort into it. Beer, sausages, and fries. Since that is the extent of the menu at Link N Hops, all three should be done well. Our experience was middling. Many sausage and topping options. I went with the smoked chicken mango-jalapeno link topped with sauerkraut and spicy mixed pickles. My boyfriend tried the smoked andouille topped with sweet peppers and jalapeno. I was happy to find a nice selection of specialty sodas to choose from since I am not a beer drinker. My boyfriend tried the Los Padres Saison. We skipped the fries. The run-down: Counter service was brisk and we felt rushed to place our order. I tried to get a few recommendations and received terse responses. We received our drinks immediately. My boyfriend commented that his pint was not a full pour. My sausage was flavorful, but the large bun overwhelmed the link. Too much bread, and on the drier side. The sauerkraut was OK...very finely shredded. The spicy mixed pickles lived up to their name. My mouth was on fire! Both of us were not satiated after our sausages. I wish they had a side option other than fries. Space is small and dark, laid out in a mix of communal and single party tables. Parking lot is tiny and shared with several other businesses (55 Degree Wine, Starbucks, Crispy Crust). This restaurant is nestled inside a small strip mall/plaza. I initially came here for the OTM special, but was definitely intrigued by some of the other items on the list. Parking - I'm so used to LA parking that I forgot what it's like to have parking so readily available! Since this is Glendale and outside of LA, it's not as congested and I had no difficulty finding parking. Ambiance - This is basically a very nice gastropub. There were televisions and a bar along with tables. Definitely had a very home-y feel and many of the patrons seemed to be friends with the bartenders. Very nice place! Food - I had the OTM special, which was the Fries Gone Wild. It was basically a large order of fries with jalepenos, sausage, and onion. Definitely a unique combination of flavors that I had never encountered before. I also had a small order of regular fries for which I ordered the chipotle aioli sauce. The chipotle aioli sauce and the fries were a great combination as well. I also decided to order the smoked pork with cheese hotdog, which came with two toppings. I had the onions and jalapenos. I honestly thought that the cheese would be on top but it was actually inside the sausage link. It was pretty good as well! The Portuguese Hawaiian sausage I had was AMAZING. So juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It came on this really fluffy, fresh bun that was fantastic as well.
