Link N Hops is located on the west side of Gledale Boulevard. It shares the same real estate area as Starbucks. Bf and I visited Link N Hops on a Saturday night a little before 6. There were only a few patrons. We ordered the jalapeno chicken and duck for $16+. The interior is very dark, especially the hallway to the restroom. There are tv screens, mostly on sports channels. I was happy they offer such exotic fare with a good craft beer selection, but the truth is - I didn't like the taste. Also, I felt the onions and cheese were kind of sparse (it was only ON TOP not on the sides). I had to try EACH of the three mustards offered (regular, honey mustard in the flat top bottle, and stone ground dijon) to give it some flavor. There is a golf-ball in a snow-globe puzzle at the bar, I seriously *tried* for 15 mins I could not get it. And I love puzzle games like chinese finger traps, twisty interlocked metal rings, and flip-cups on a string. But the snow-globe elluded me. The soundtrack was good - tom petty, weezer, johnny cash, and red hot chili peppers playing while I was there. The fries (add blue cheese is a must) you really can't go wrong with the sauces they are all awesome but it depends on your taste. The bartender was so friendly (without going over the top) I also noticed that he was equally nice and friendly to those coming in later (11:15pm when HH ended at 11:30) so many places in LA the staff will ice you out. Furniture choice is certainly similar in that there are smaller tables at the sides and a big benched table in the middle. I also like the simple outdoor patio set up and Link N Hops isolates them well even though the adjacent "too-close" parking lot seems to add the smell of gas in the air, if one chooses to idle too long. -=-Parking-=- is atrocious. A small lot is shared with 4 other thriving businesses, one of which is Starbucks. There is metered public parking, but who likes dealing with those really. I took my motorcycle here, but there wasn't even a nook or cranny to stuff it in. -=-Food-=- The majority of the offerings here are hot dogs and french fries. The bread was soft at least and the Duck Sausage had a good spice to it and was tasty going down. I'd call it half-exotic, since it's no rattlesnake or rabbit meat. The fries were a disappointment though. I ordered a large size to share, but it looked like it was barely enough to feed myself. If this is a large size, I really wonder what a small size would be. The bartender refused to try the skunky beer and basically told me I didn't know anything about beer and that it was perfectly fine. To say I was pissed was an understatement. First-- if a customer is complaining about their beer, maybe investigate, check the tap yourself, see what's going on instead of insulting them and trying to womansplain what a beer should taste like. Second-- just replace the beer. It costs a lot less than all the ill will you just spread around, and the future custom you might have gotten but definitely won't get now. Our food took about 20 minutes so I wouldn't recommend this place if you are on a time crunch. As many reviews note, Link N Hops is pretty much like Wurstkuche in Atwater Village. Gourmet sausages (vegan and not) and beers in a casual gastro-pubby like atmosphere (seating inside and outside: booths and communal seating). I unfortunately thought that their "burger" was a burger...it is not. Instead it is a burger patty on a hot dog bun. I do not recommend because part of a satisfying burger is getting all elements in 1 bite - which was extremely difficult in a hot dog bun form. Their sausages fared better (one would hope): bf got the lamb one and that was pretty good. Our friend got one of their spicy sausages and proclaimed it to be extremely spicy. The jalapenos with seeds didn't help. Their fries were pretty good too. Oh yeah, portions aren't terribly big so if you are a big eater, you'll probably need to supplement with another sausage or fries. Parking: a pain.
