If you miss the OG Kasper's (Kasper's with a K, one of a kind) on Telegraph in Oakland, Lisa V's is a hidden gem at the edge of Concord that reminds you of the OG restaurant. A friend and I were looking for a place that grills hot dogs or sausages like Top Dog in Berkeley. Our search popped up with Lisa V's even though they do not grill the hot dog so we headed out to try. We were both pleasantly surprised. I had two traditional hot dogs with relish, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes and mustard which made it easy to eat. I also had potato salad which is homemade and tasty. My friend had a hot dog with sauerkraut and a taco. I thought the taco was unusual for a hot dog restaurant but my friend said the taco had really good flavor and the meat was tender. He said for it not being a Taqueria it was a nicely constructed taco. The hot dogs have a little bit of a snap when you bite, a tinge more of spice than a Casper's (with a C) hot dog, good flavor, perfectly steamed bun and perfect blend on condiments. For a great hot dog, this the place to east of the Caldecott Tunnel. To fill that hood hot dog craving, Lisa V's won't disappoint.

Where is the chili on the chili dog?

Lisa's has been my favorite place since high school was many years ago. My son grew up on them as well. It started as Lisa's house of hot dogs and is now Lisa V's. It has been a minute since we have been there. Git chili dogs today. Very surprised to see the very limited amount of chili given and canned poor flavor. Not the chili dogs that we know and have loved for over 30 years. Very disappointing. I also was amazed that they are requiring the customer to pay extra for not paying with cash. She said she " can't afford to pay the credit card charges anymore". That is the cost of doing business. You can't expect us to be alright with being charged 3.5% extra to Pay for the product we are purchasing from you to cover your credit card fees. Doesn't seem like a huge amount at all, but the principal is large. Cash is the least used form of currency. Charging me for not using it is ridiculous. Sadly, This may be the last time we support her and her business.

We have lived here forever and never got around to trying this place, so finally got around to it. The food is good and simple. No indoor dining yet due to the pandemic. Basic menu, but you get what you expect. As mentioned, the hot dog is a bit thin, but they do pile on the toppings. The potato salad was good and fresh. The chili nachos were laden with goodies and spicy from the jalapenos. The California burrito was big and flavorful. Overall, a good place to grab a quick bite.

What is in their California burrito?

I read that the cookies are GF which is exciting! Is there any other gluten free options?

P's Way is the only way…read more That's literally what I'd tell someone if they were confused about what kind of wings to get. You look at the description and you almost wonder if all of that is a little...too much. I'm here to tell you that it's not. It's the only way. There's just something about the zing and tang of combining both the Lemon Pepper with the Buffalo sauce that takes the flavors to a whole new level. On top of that you get a hint of sweetness with the hot honey. These are some of my favorite wings in town. Possibly actual favorite. I need to come back and have them again really soon. But just know that if you are wings fan, you gotta try P's Way. The Fish and Chips and Mac were also good. The Fish seemed a little less flavorful than I thought it was gonna be. The fries made it up for them though. I couldn't stop munching on those. The Mac was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a just really good dish that was straight to the point. I just obviously was super obsessed with these wings when I went. The inside is very homey. Has a more publike vibe. I walk in and almost imagine that I'm on the water or at a pier or something. The people working here are usually very nice. The very last time I came here a guy took my order and forgot one of our items but I think he was new. Luckily this girl with a long blonde ponytail who had served us before asked us if we got everything. When we told her about our missing item she apologized a whole bunch and made everything better. Oh and of course they have amazing beers. Our favorites are the rotation of Dark Beers, Mexican Lagers and Ciders that they have. We have yet to ever have a bad pour. Im pretty sure if you like beer there should be something for everyone. Even Wine slushies if you don't care for beer. Hillside was one of me and my wife's places we would go to when we shortly lived in Martinez. Even though we are a bridge away, we can't wait to come back sometime soon.

Torn between 3.5 and 4 stars so rounded up. Popped in on a Thurs and it was pretty quiet but…read moreservice was great. Food was solid as noted below. Bellini cocktail was enjoyed by the wife. Tall pour of Wondrous IPA was delicious, just wish the glass wasn't frozen. Remembered they were in Concord as Hillside Dogs and this is a step up. Clam Chowder.... tasty, not fishy, good consistency Spicy Chicken Sando..... not very spicy, tender chicken, tasty slaw, good bread, decent sandwich. Fries were very tasty! Fisher & Chips... bit bready, mild fishy taste, big meal for a single female, fries were superb. Overall, decent experience. Looks like easy parking - we had parked a few blocks away to visit another spot and walked over.
