Incoming call log from July 2nd, 2024

THE GENERAL MANAGER LAUGHED AND SAID, "I'LL SEE YOU IN COURT" This occurred after I sent this email to the personnel involved and listed in 2nd paragraph. He failed to even review my email before call. literally in was 3 minutes after I sent the email with 6 supporting documents attached. Sent: Tuesday, July 2, 2024 4:39 PM On May 28th I contacted General Manager (S.O) regarding my concern on how my service transaction was handled regarding a Toyota Prius. GM, you asked me to contact you and send you documentation. I'll send you enough, so you understand I showed a great amount of patience due to the fact I'm too in the automotive industry. I wanted to give you and your team ample time to assist in rectifying my situation. Breach of oral and written contract. General Manager (S.O) BDC Manager (L.H) Service Manager( K.A) I towed my vehicle there under the direction of Greg the service director at the time. I believe that Ken was in the office upon arrival of the vehicle. They informed me that the DPSM (District Parts and Service Manager) would be offering a level of assistance for the repair as noted on the repair order (legal document). They asked me to give them some time due to the current DPSM would be transitioning out and a new DPSM would be able to assist me. I reside in Southern California so it would "not" be easy for me to go back and forth with a major engine concern. 869 miles. Several months I waited, contacting the dealership and Toyota Corporate to get some traction. Nothing! Ultimately, I received a lien sale letter. I immediately contacted an attorney simply to send a message to Lithia Toyota which apparently fell on deaf ears. Ultimately there was a lien sale on my vehicle. Their Repair Order (RO) was noted: Tow waiting on Factory to talk with client. Whom facilitated this action? What was the outcome? RO was closed 1 month later. If RO was closed, how could factory get involved? Recently BDC manager indicated to Toyota Brand ambassador that a call was made to myself from General manager on 06.19.2024 for approximately 30 minutes. This did not occur, and I have phone records to support. I relayed my concerns to BDC manager. He insisted my case be closed. I promptly contacted Toyota again to alert them of my concern. 17 Tacoma
    Hendrick D.

Two years ago I got a notice that my 2017 Tacoma had an open recall, a recall on a defective water pump. I called ahead to set up and appoint and was greeted by a variety of bad attitudes and total lack of customer service. But I disregarded it, I only cares to get my Tacoma recall taken cared of. About 30minutes in I was told that the job was going to take a few days due to parts delivery and labor plus a busy schedule. Understandably I accepted a rental from them and was on my way. For more context, it was winter at the time and I was working in Salem. Commuting daily to Salem from Santa Clara, Eugene. About three days later I got called and was told my Tacoma was ready! So I was stoked to get my truck back. The staff's attitudes were much better on that day and I was happy myself for getting my truck back. However, when I got home I noticed an exhaust tip was missing. Something that had gone almost 9,000 miles at the time without falling off. So I let them know and they took care of it and gave me credit to buy a new one. No big deal, it was about 20$ worth anyway. The next day I drove to Salem and everything was back to normal. On my way back however, about 5 minutes from the Eugene exit on the I-5, I noticed hot air seeping out of the hood, it was freezing temperature so I noticed it right away. As I noticed that, I headed towards the shoulder to park immediately, and as I did that, I noticed my temperature gauge go to the red for an instant as well. Not good! I turned it off right away and opened up the hood. There was an explosion of radiator fluid all over the inside of the engine bay. The radiator cap was missing. NOT GOOD. So I did the obvious thing, I called the service center as they were the last to touch my vehicle and explained to them the situation. I was pretty patient given the circumstances. Given the fact that I could've destroyed my vehicle. Given the fact that I could've lost control of the vehicle in the middle of the I-5. I was pretty damn patient. They asked a series of questions and eventually got a technician to come over with a gallon of radiator fluid and a new radiator cap. The supervisor phoned me and was "very sorry" this had happened and gifted me a free detail at the time of my choosing. Whatever, crisis averted, right? Wrong. The next day I start up my Tacoma and two minutes into my drive and smell gasoline fumes inside the cabin. Strange. So I pull over and I hear liquid pouring down the pavement. I take a closer look... and it's gasoline. An epic amount of gasoline is pouring down the street. Again, I keep my cool. I call the supervisor, directly this time, and again he is sorry, apart from perplexed - that went along with a few questions, and again they sent a tow truck this time and picked up the Tacoma. Apparently, when they replaced the water pump someone forgot to tighten the radiator cap, and forgot to place a plastic washer that seals the fuel lines shut, because apparently they had to maneuver around those structures to get to the water pump. Who knows. Anyway, took two days for the gas line to erupt. The next day I got a call about 4pm, keep in mind the service center closes at 6pm, to come pick up my truck. They detailed it, filled it up, and fixed the problems. They made sure everything was kosher this time. It wasn't. I picked it up, and drove back home thinking it was all over. Nope! As soon as I drove into my driveway, my house is about 15minutes from the dealership mind you, and parked my car - As soon as I stepped out even. I heard liquid once again waterfall onto my driveway, but this time it was way more gasoline. I reckon the 18gal tank must have been empty at this point. It was so bad my neighbors complained about the smell of gasoline pouring into their homes. Talk about embarrassing and downright infuriating. Again I called but it was about 5:40 pm now and they were closing. Didn't even bother picking up the phone. About 6:10pm I got a call back and I explained to them what was happening, and again they coordinated with the towing company to come get my truck. They came by and picked it up. I called the supervisor and asked him to keep the Tacoma until everything was fixed. That I didn't want it back until it was 100%. He promised he would look into personally from here on out. How reassuring. Anyhow, got it back a week later and everything was back to normal. This time for real. I never once lost my patience with these people, I understood then, just like I do now, that accidents happen. People make mistakes. Thankfully all of that was in the past and I gave them a second chance. TL;DR: This service center almost destroyed my brand new Tacoma. Customer service is abysmal. Buy a new car here, take it elsewhere for service.

    Emergency scan of sick Prius
    Michael M.

Moving my elderly mom out of state, and got the red triangle of doom on my 2005 Prius. This was the closest service center, and showed up at 4 pm. They immediately took it in to scan the CAN buss, determined the problem, and started replacing the hybrid system water pump. Saved our butt and the move. Super friendly and professional staff. Same day service, best outcome I could have hoped for.

I had the best experience purchasing my vehicle w Lithia this year. I saved $4000 using the Costco Purchasing Program. These guys found me the SUV I wanted in the exact color w every single option I wanted. They offered me a better deal if I bought the silver vehicle on their lot, which I declined. Within a few hours (after leaving the lot) they me a "loaded" White hybrid RAV4 with a panoramic sunroof and gave me a screaming deal! Guys were amazing at the lot... very attentive and helpful. Jerry was so nice and scheduled to check out the car a few days out. I dropped off my car and the mechanic went over the issues I had: speedometer cable broken and replaced Idle control not working. Come to find out, my A/C wasn't working right either. The shop is very clean, as is the waiting area and bathroom. They had coffee and water available to drink while I waited. The work was done in a reasonable amount of time. I was warned that the A/C issue might involve having to remove the dash inside the car to find the problem and might be a pricey fix. Ugh. I was preparing for the worse and praying for the best. The speedometer cable was not broken but disconnected. Huge cost savings there and impt. because the part was no longer being manufactured. The Idle control part that was put on by the Eugene mechanics and didn't fix the idle problem wasn't the necessary part to fix the idle problem. My car has a manual transmission. It has two Idle control parts not one which is what automatic transmissions have. The one that was replaced was for hot starts...the one I needed was for cold starts which would solve both cold and hot start idle issues. I found a used fast idle control assembly part online and that fix was properly fixed now. The fix made by the garage in Eugene to address the fan issue for the radiator was not fixed. Mainly because the problem wasn't the fan but a dead battery. The Eugene mechanics repair that was made was to add a timer and sensor which, not only wasn't necessary but ended up being the cause of the A/C unit not working. It was blowing the A/C fuse making the A/C not work. Thankfully the dash wasn't taken out so the fix was not as expensive as I thought it would be. I am grateful for good and honest mechanics. I am frustrated with having to go back to my previous mechanic and try to get some money back on the work they did but I'm going to try. Wayne's is my new Acura mechanic.

When I raised my concern, the front desk staff told me the appointment time isn't when service starts, it's just your drop-off time. That's not stated anywhere on their website or when booking. After more than two hours with no proactive updates I chose to leave & book with another shop. To the shop: this would've been a completely different experience if someone had simply told me up front that you were running behind & given me the choice to wait or reschedule. I would have rescheduled if that option had been offered honestly & early. Please train your team to flag delays proactively & add a note when booking that appointment times are drop-off windows. Based on the reviews we made an appointment at Oakmont to get our truck serviced. The truck has not been serviced in 14 years! Oakmont was terrific, when we picked it up we were very confident that they had gone through it with a fine toothcomb and fixed all the issues. However, they are also practical, if it wasn't needing service, they didn't fix it, so rare in these times when garages try to push a total rebuild on you. Their prices are also very fair, no gouging here! The only problem is that they are so good that it can be difficult to get an appointment, but they always try to get you in if at all possible. Feeling blessed, so great to have a good mechanic you can trust!

Oakmont Service Center - A Referral That Fell Short…read moreReferrals are the backbone of any reputable business, especially in the world of classic cars. I own a 1949 Chevy, and like many classic car owners, I rely heavily on trusted recommendations. Skilled mechanics who truly understand vintage vehicles are rare in our area, especially since the retirement of one of the most respected classic specialists Eugene has ever had. Oakmont Service Center came recommended by a respected transmission expert, and my first interaction with Jerremy, the manager, was positive. My initial visit--radiator exchange, exhaust leak repair, and a minor carburetor adjustment--went smoothly, and meeting the two mechanics who handle classics gave me confidence in the referral. That confidence didn't last. A Breakdown and a Missed Diagnosis During a casual weekend drive, my Chevy wouldn't start after a coffee stop. After checking the usual suspects with no luck, I called Jerremy. The car was towed in, and it took two days before Eric looked at it. Because I'd had a starter issue in the past, he removed and reinstalled the starter without performing a full diagnostic. A professional approach would have been to verify the actual cause rather than rely on history. The real issue was the distributor. I chose to upgrade to an electronic module and coil. Eric removed the distributor and sent it to a shop in Cottage Grove for the upgrade. When it returned, I made it clear--in front of Eric, Jerremy, and Mike (the owner)--that if there were any questions, they should call the builder directly. No call was ever made. Critical Steps Missed The builder later informed me that Oakmont suggested they "needed to get into the engine," which was unnecessary and incorrect. The distributor had been installed improperly, and a firewall-mounted module was still running six volts--something any experienced classic mechanic would have caught immediately. The car would never have started without correcting that. To suggest engine work without completing basic diagnostic steps was a bad call. Lack of Accountability When I stopped by to speak with Mike about the missed steps, he was "too busy" to talk. Jerremy took my number, but no one followed up. When I reached out again, I was offered a $100 refund--an acknowledgment that mistakes were made, but not a meaningful resolution. I was also disappointed to walk in and see Eric working on my classic without a fender mat. That alone speaks volumes about attention to detail and respect for the vehicle. A Referral That Didn't Hold Up This referral fell short. As another reviewer, Von Sellz, pointed out--we don't all have dash cams to monitor what happens behind the shop doors. Some shops, like Joe's Garage, take thorough check-in photos and run a professional, accountable operation. They've been doing it right since 1952. Oakmont Service Center had an opportunity to live up to their reputation and the trust placed in them through referrals. Instead, they missed critical steps, failed to communicate, and didn't take ownership of their mistakes.

I came to absolute air trusting them and thinking it would be cheaper than going to a dealership... but I was wrong. I dropped my car off in for a coolant flush they quoted me for $275 I accepted, while I'm at work they call me that I don't need a coolant flush, but I need a water pump and it was gonna cost me $1,250 so I declined and said I would pick my car up and take it somewhere else. THEY DID NOT ASK FOR PERMISSION TO DO A SERVICE-CHECK ON MY CAR!!! They ended up doing a service check anyway and stripped 2 of my wheel studs off of my driver side tire and 1 stud on my rear passenger tire. They quoted me $1,100 to get it fixed, mind you I didn't ask for a service check but they did it anyway; and they still tried to charge me so much money. They let me take my car knowing it was dangerous to drive on the road, so I went straight to Subaru Dealership and they quoted me for $260 to replace those 3 studs, when Absolute Air was charging me $1,100 for their mistake. Like Gahhh Damnnn you guys are definitely scammers. I ended up getting all my receipts and pictures from Subaru Dealership and I took back my paperwork so they can pay me what I paid for their shitty mess. I'm glad I got paid my money that they f'ed up on, but never again will I go to a place like Absolute Air & Auto. The owner was nice but after I brought him receipts and had my mechanic brother of 12+ years call him on his businesses bullshit scam, he wasn't as nice anymore. So if anyone thinks a small auto repair shop is cheaper than a dealership, it really ain't. I learned that the hard way. You get what you pay for.
