Short review of Little Belly: OH. MAH. GAAWWWDD. Long review: An Izakaya roughly translates to a Japanese pub. They have a little of every type of food (usually in small plates) and have a good selection of drinks. Now, I've been to some Izakayas in Japan. I've been to some American Izakayas gone wrong. (Not namin' names.) But Little Belly goes above and beyond all of them. Here's our food journey: My wife started with a Suntori shizo-lime highball (not pictured). Despite involving whiskey it's got a low alcohol content, mixed well with seltzer water and lime. Light and refreshing. I got their version of an old fashioned with miso syrup and sesame, poured out of a soy sauce bottle. I'd never describe an old fashioned as "easy drinking" but this one was, cutting much of the bite while retaining all the flavor. For food, we started with the magic cabbage salad. Lived up to the brag - it has garlic, shallot, and dashi dressing, in perfect balance to create a big, bold flavor. We couldn't stop eating it but forced ourselves to because we figured this great of a start would point to a fantastic meal. Yep! The "Okiemiyaki" was a traditional Japanese vegetable pancake with decidedly non-traditional barbecue brisket, mustard, and crumbled ruffles chips. Why did this work? It totally worked. No flavor clashes, light and fluffy, but amazingly satisfying. And we're just at the halfway point! Drinks round two: my wife got the cherry blossom cosmopolitan (not pictured), which wasn't overly sweet but also wasn't overly tart or sour like too many modern fruity cocktails. It has cherry blossoms and hibiscus, but again in perfect balance. (This is a theme.) I had the yuzu sidecar. Yuzu is an Asian citrus fruit, and the drink had a great citrus flavor, not very tart or sharp, nicely sweet enough - I'm running out of synonyms for "balanced," but here we are. Like no other drink I've had in Tulsa. More food! The ramen wasn't like traditional ramen at all - it was more like a slightly soupy pasta dish. But the cheese and corn melded so well on it I couldn't possibly be upset. And the karaage chicken strips - it had a good crunch, but both the batter and the chicken melted in our mouths. I've never, ever had chicken that tender. Plus great garlic and ginger undertones. Then the roasted sweet potatoes showed up. We didn't order them - the restaurant just decided to give them to us gratis. They're cooked in miso-Parmesan butter and turbinado sugar, but the potatoes themselves were much lighter and less starchy than you'd expect. The result was a confidently sweet finisher that made a great dessert in all but name. I should mention the service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and our server expertly walked us through the options when we couldn't decide between two or three things. She also passed on a rumor of a secret menu. (Maybe a special hot dog is involved?) All that was just a fraction of the menu, and we can't wait to try more. But we also want to keep ordering what we had. I can't remember the last time a restaurant experience in Tulsa that blew us away this much - maybe Bull in the Alley at their best? It's a little pricey, and you'll need to be willing to get a little adventurous. (There's a burger if you must.) But you absolutely won't regret going.

I really enjoyed my experience at little belly. The food was so good and so flavorful. It was such a good dining experience. The atmosphere was very unique and service was good as well. The pork belly and grit was so flavorful and so yummy. My only complaint is the egg, it had a really strange taste almost like medicine. The Karaage was so crispy and yummy.

Exceptional Quality and Craftsmanship in Tulsa -- Mr. Nobu's Sushiya…read more We recently visited Mr. Nobu's Sushiya, and overall, the quality of the food makes this a place the Tulsa community absolutely needs to support and help grow. The Standouts Incredible Nigiri: The salmon nigiri was superior--far larger than usual and easily outshining the quality at most other sushi restaurants in town. Tempura Shrimp Roll: An absolute highlight at just $11. They added broken tempura pieces to the outside, giving it an remarkably delicious, delightful crunch. Outstanding value and flavor. Craft Cocktails & Details: The cucumber and gin drink was crisp and delicious. We also appreciated the generous portions of wasabi and house-style white ginger (which is far better quality than the dyed pink variety). Areas for Improvement Sodium Sensitivity: The zucchini appetizer was good but noticeably salty. My husband limits sodium for medical reasons, and while staff confirmed the soy sauce was low sodium, it tasted quite high in sodium to us. Extra transparency or true low-sodium options would be helpful for guests with health restrictions. Ambiance & Space: The space is quite small. During our visit, the sushi bar felt a bit claustrophobic and the dining room felt tight. A larger space would let their expert sushi chefs truly shine. Happy Hour Opportunity: We rushed over expecting Happy Hour between 4:00 and 5:00 PM, only to find out it had been discontinued. The restaurant was very quiet during that hour. Bringing back and promoting an early happy hour could be a great way to fill that dead time and draw in a crowd. Final Thoughts Between the expert sushi chefs and the remarkable food quality, this has the potential to be the single best sushi spot in Tulsa if it gets the space to expand. Perhaps Simply opening the sushi bar to the dining room would make both rooms seem larger. As a bonus for travelers, Mr. Nobu's is on the Southwest Airlines Dining Awards list (3 points per dollar with a Rapid Rewards card), which is a huge perk if you're earning toward a Companion Pass! We will definitely be back.

From the corporate operations director to the manager on duty last night, I will NEVER be doing business or dining with them ever again. The manager last night flat out called us out of our names using language I cannot even bring myself to type. In short, all because we asked for our proper change and for our tickets to be reworked. Every restaurant and place of business can do that with ease. That shouldn't call for us to be disrespected. It makes zero sense. Zero. We were respectful, pretty, and paid! We weren't "loud, ghetto, or any (special choice of words)". So with that being said, if you're brown, we're not welcomed there!!! This holds serious weight. This did happen. This will be dealt with in the proper way and through the proper channels. I do not tolerate disrespect of any form.

That salmon was so tasty, so fresh, so tender, and so satisfying, coupled with the cream cheese, raspberry aioli and shrimp--it was amazing. It's a little pricey for once sushi roll, but if you get just one roll, this is a really good one to get. I loved the blackened salmon. It was crunchy on top, juicy in the middle, and perfectly cooked. The fried rice (instead of plain rice) was really tasty too. The veggies were nice. All together I loved this dish. My nephew enjoyed the lomi salad and took half of it home. We split the tempura bananas and enjoyed it. If you like funnel cake, you will like the tempura bananas. I can't wait to go back! I need to stay close by so that I can imbibe with a few of the cocktails. The views from the patio are spectacular especially with the fire pits going.
