I like Little Daddy's. It is your standard Coney Island, maybe a little bigger. Maybe a little cleaner. It was convenient to where I used to live and the staff was always nice. They are slower than other Coney Islands but that means they're still twice as fast as a Denny's. Slow doesn't mean bad, either. Some times I feel like I'm getting the bum's rush at a Coney. I live close by and go here often and always see somebody I know. This is a good place to meet for a casual lunch or breakfast. It's similar to other area "coney" style eat spots. It's busy at lunch time, not so much at dinner. It's good for groups. The salads are good, and the gyros are great. Also, breakfast food is available anytime and it's usually terrific. It's not gourmet or fancy, but the menu has lots of variety and generally good quality food. I've also used their catering service for breakfast for 40. This restaurant has unique menu items. You can satisfy your entire group because the menu is so diverse. We've been coming here for years and as the food has improved, the service unfortunately has not. We refuse to dine in if our favorites, Pink or Ari, are not working. They are the only 2 consistent servers and they bring personality to the restaurant. Every other server we've had this past year has made our dining experience a nightmare. The newer workers have no idea what they're doing. Little Daddy's is still our favorite place for food but if our 2 preferred servers are not working, we head over to the carry out counter and take our food home. Sad but true. We still give this place 5 stars but please train newer staff. read more

Horrible lunch experience here today. Went for the usually good Tommy chopped salad. Two us ordered it, one with chicken, one without. I kept biting into something that seemed like sand or tiny eggshells. Yuck! Ate about 1/3 of my salad and pushed it aside. My friend ate half of her salad but complained that the chicken was rubbery and bad. When the waitress asked how everything was I told her about the gritty salad; she said quite a few other people had complained lately of the same exact thing! She then brought us our full bill, $30 for 2 salads and an iced tea. If the food was bad and you can't eat it and you complain about it, they shouldn't make you pay for it, right?! Little Daddy's has the best salads! I eat there at least once a week, and in between I look forward to my visit. Current favorites of mine are the Aggie's Apple Salad, the Strawberry Spinach salad with chicken, the Tommy (of course; I like mine with all romaine), but there are so many. I am usually there with a group of ladies, and the server remembers who can't have onions, who wants extra pickles, who wants the small size salad in the big bowl, etc. My boys like the burgers and sandwiches, my husband the omelets. And we all appreciate the staff who go out of their way to accommodate us with humor and good grace. read more

Unfortunately when you carry-out you cannot send unacceptable items back. The rice pudding was so undercooked it could not be eaten. The bumpy cake dessert was packed with the hot meals instead of with cold items like the salads so the chocolate was completely melted off the cake. The most frustrating thing is their website. This was the most disgusting dinner ever.I ordered lamb gyro and my brother chicken the meat in both was dry and so dead it could not be helped with any kind of sauce tzadzeki yogurt or other! We had been here a few times before and decided to go back when we were in the area. We were promptly seated, but it took over an hour to get a hamburger, coney dog and bowl of soup. We figured they were just having a bad night and went back a week later. Once again, we were a party of three hoping for a light supper. The sign as you enter said "Please Wait to be Seated." There was one person at the take out counter and three tables occupied, so we thought it wouldn't be too long of a wait. Two gentlemen walked in about 5 minutes after us and sat at the counter. They were immediately greeted and served drinks. We were left standing by the sign for another 5 minutes. No one, in the entire 10 minutes we stood there waiting, even acknowledged that we existed. If being in business for 20 years doesn't speak for itself enough I don't know what does. It's sad that this place has good food but horrible service. The last time we were in, our waitress complained about how busy it was and she hasn't stopped for 3 hours with a huge attitude. She also continued to use trashy words around our children and she must've been either drunk or on drugs. There are some good waiters but so many are just EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. To whomever owns this place, invest in a better staff because they are running your restaurant down! We ordered a carry out today of 2 salads and they didn't even put dressing after I requested extra dressing (same waitress as the other trashy experience we had). Little Daddy's is a nice family restaurant which I really enjoyed. My friend suggested the Greek lemon soup which was honestly the best soup I've had in my life. It had huge loads of fresh lemon,(you can taste the difference) chicken, orzo, and some other magic in there. I wish I can remember the name but my friend ordered for us a cheese appetizer. This was something different because the cheese was brought to us by our server and he lit it on fire in front of us. We dipped the warm pita into this oozing cheese and it was heavenly. Best gourmet food around. The roasted vegetable plate is TO DIE FOR. My mom isn't a fan of cauliflower or Brussel sprouts but after I brought this home for her to try she absolutely loved it and now she's obsessed. I also recommend the pot roast sandwich, lasagna, lamb chops, or any of their seafood options (especially the pan fried panko encrusted perch or the whitefish almandine). They also started serving alcohol recently w/ the cheapest prices I've seen around. To top it off they get fresh handmade pies from Achatz Handmade Pie Company. Most restaurants I've been to have store bought pie (ew.). My favorite part about the restaurant though is how welcome the servers make you feel. This rating is for two things: 1) Service, and 2) Salad. I love Little Daddy's for their salads. It seems pretty hard to find a reasonably-priced, tasty and fresh salad for lunch nowadays. Meal size salads often end up being too expensive at most places. The salad portion of their menu is humongous, and there hasn't been one that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. You can find your traditional salads, but my faves are the Maurice, the Traverse City and my absolute favorite, and the reason I keep going back is the amazing Tommy salad. The fresh dill makes this salad really something. The 1/2 Tommy, chopped and tossed by itself is $5.99 and, with the complimentary pita, is PLENTY for lunch. Add gyro meat (for an extra $2, I think) and it's even better. Their dressings are homemade and the Tommy dressing, which I think is just a variation on Greek salad-dressing, is outstanding. I've always had excellent service here (carry-out and dining in) and there are plenty of other tasty items besides the salads, like the chicken lemon rice soup, the grape leaves appetizer (delish!) and the spinach pie triangles. It's definitely a step up from just being a coney, but you can get all your traditional coney fare here as well. It gets pretty crowded at lunch, but there is plenty of space, so I've never had to wait. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like interesting salads. read more

I had dinner here a few weeks ago with friends and felt that the service could have been better. The inside resembles Rams Horn, and the menu is greek/american. The prices are average to Coney and Rams Horn with meals in the $6.00 to $9.00 range. My boyfriend and I along with our friends walked in and noticed the place was surprisingly empty! It is also open until 10:00p.m. or 11:00p.m. and it was only around 8:00p.m. when we arrived, so we were not barging in right before closing time! ( I just want to make that clear) Anyhow we were seated and I skimmed the menu and decided on the gyro platter. My friend ordered a chicken dish and she specified fried! Our waiter was nice but he just wasn't attentive and this got annoying after awhile especially when my boyfriend wanted refills! I felt the neglect was not called for especially since we were the only table in the restaurant! When our food came the waiter plunks down a grilled chicken dinner for my friend, even though she asked for fried. The gyro meat in my platter was cold! I am very understanding if a place is busy and a mistake like this occurs, but not in this instance! I didn't make a complaint because I am paranoid about doing that! I went ahead and ate part of it but I was disappointed. My friend made it known that she asked for fried chicken but she was nice about his mistake and didn't make him take it back. I kept thinking if the waitstaff and cooks didn't put much effort into the food prep and service when the place was slow then what do they do when it is busy? This place is good when they get it right, but awful when it's bad. Sundays are a madhouse - long wait times for food, understaffed kitchen, and hit or miss servers. When your order is prompt and warm, the food is quite good, but inconsistencies remain. Yesterday we had to witness one very unhappy table - not appetizing to see at all. Plus, side note - this place needs to shut down for a few days and get a deep cleaning - the walls, ceiling, furniture, dishes, everything. The look of the old Denny's isn't a bonus.
