I just can't say enough about how delicious the food is here and what awesome service they give. Because of this I can understand why this restaurant has been here for 20 plus years. To start they always serve their fresh bread with a tapenade and the delicious locally made Ohannsen olive oil. Tonight the Baramundi was on special. I always order it if they have it. It is lightly sautéed served over capellini, sauté of spinach and a creamy sauce of lemon, capers & artichoke. To die for! It is the best seafood dish I have ever had. My Dad ordered the lamb lollipop special, it was mouth watering. It's too bad that isn't on their regularly menu. It was succulent and cooked to perfection served with a saffron risotto. We were headed home and stopped in for a bite to eat. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Fettuccine Carbonara, and Meat Lasagna. The Caesar salad is exceptional with house-made dressing and a generous amount of shaved Parm. The Fettuccine Carbonara though not a true traditional carbonara due to the use of cream as a stabilizer and prosciutto rather than guanciale, is delicious as well. The lasagna was delicious and kept us going back for more until we had no room left after consuming the table bread. The staff is friendly, attentive, and accommodating along with an inviting yet buttoned atmosphere. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We really like Little Italy. It is nearby, quaint and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were headed home and it was an easy decision to stop in for dinner. I love how they start out with bringing us the delicious focaccia bread and homemade topinad. I took a picture after we dug in. We started out with 3 large pieces for the 2 of us. We ordered the salmon Mediterranean and veal Marsala with the mushroom topping on the side. The portions are large. If we had split one of the dinners we would have had room for dessert. We also ordered a vodka/soda and cosmo martini. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I have said before, LI is a great place for a romantic dinner or to stop by and have a nice meal on your way home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband often meets for business here and never has a complaint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tonight there were many couples and a few tables filled with good friends catching up. It was not very loud. I had dinner last night at Little Italy. The reason I give 3 stars and not less is because of all the gentlemen that helped us last night. All the guys that helped us were so polite and very helpful. It was the food that was not great! The bread was ok, and whatever side they served with the bread was not my cup of tea. The fettuccine Alfredos were kind of soggy and over salted, as was the shrimps. And maybe this place always serves the shrimp with the tail, so I have to remove it, but I didn't like that. The spighetti was ok. So for the price of our dinner, my family and I were a bit disappointed. I wanted to try a new place I'd never been to for Italian food, and coming here to Little Italy made me regret trying new places. Olive Garden is still my favorite. I'm certain I won't return to Little Italy. read more

We made reservations a full week in advance for a small party of five and spent about $300 on dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing due to poor seating and management response. We were seated in a back room directly next to a very large company party that was clearly wrapping up their year. They were loud, giving acknowledgments to employees, and celebrating--understandable for them, but extremely disruptive for us. Our table was an arm's length away, making it difficult to hear one another or have a normal conversation throughout dinner. It felt awkward and uncomfortable for a small group that was there for a quiet meal. Our waitress was polite, but she only came by our table twice during the entire meal, likely overwhelmed by the large party. Before paying, we asked to speak with the manager. While she listened to our concerns, she took no responsibility for the seating arrangement and made no effort to acknowledge or resolve the situation. No apology, no adjustment, and no attempt to make it right. read more

Really wonderful little spot. All hands in experience, the food was delicious, we were in and out within an hour and a half, and we were treated great. I had the cappellini with sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts, my boyfriend had the clams and linguine, and we shared the calamari friti to start. We had a nice time, and we will definitely go back. Holy Italian. This food was way too good! They had a special of cheese and truffle saccheti in a garlic butter sauce that was phenomenal. I noticed a ton of reviews about bad/confusing service. We must have gotten lucky, as our waitress and waiter (they share tables) were great. My son had the halibut.... maybe one of the best piece of fish I've ever had the pleasure of sharing. Went there for the first time, then again the next week, wow. The bar and floor are personable and professional. The food is outstanding. The first time I had lamb shank tagliatelle, everything one could want. The second time I said, "If the chef really likes the halibut, I'll have it, otherwise a steak. A perfectly cooked ten ounce piece of halibut appeared. Best Cesar salad I've had in a restaurant , good bar and desserts. I know many have enjoyed this place for years, glad to join them. read more

Place was empty, yet ask if I had a reservation. At the time I was eating there no one ever show up to eat so I was wondering why they even ask. The food was good, it was creamy and had a unique flavor to it. I order the chicken Alfredo which it shows at $15.99 but I was charge $48 for it. Don't know why. Definitely not a dining experience I care to repeat. Service was friendly but WAY off. We were seated and asked if we wanted bread, which didn't come until well after our entrees . Our waiter never advised us of any specials but did tell the table next to us about them. He seemed like he was very confused about the wine list and kept offering my wife a beer when she asked for a sparkling wine. We ordered the mushroom cap appetizer, the wife had Gnocchi and Sausage and I had Cappelini Scampi. The mushroom caps were pretty good, but needed cheese or something else. They were just the caps in a garlic balsamic sauce. A bit one dimensional Our entrees arrived about 5 minutes after the starter, so we had barely had time to try the starter. The Gnocchi was a bit gummy and the sauce was overly thick. The portions were generous but it felt very quantity over quality. The Cappeli was ok, but very greasy. Both dishes lacked Parmesan and could have really used some fresh pepper. Overall very mediocre. We were asked a third time if we wanted bread and we said "at this point, no thanks." It was brought anyway. The focaccia was very dry and the olive paste with it was strangely spicy The food is VERY spendy. Over $100 fir the two of us with only one glass of wine total. The worst of it, when I got home I had food poisoning and spent the evening in the bathroom. So I won't be back and I can't recommend anyone else visit. There's so many places to eat in Bakersfield there's no excuse to be this bad. read more

The review of 1 star is the result of the attitude of the female owner towards our complaint about a particular dessert - the Cannoli. We came by for dinner, the restaurant had nice ambiance, soft music playing, servers are attentive. I ordered the linguini frutti de mare - big juicy seafood chunks, tomato sauce. Great. My husband ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium. The steak was flavorful & juicy, peppercorn sauce was delicious, side of spaghetti was good. I ordered the Tiramisu and my husband the Cannoli (a supposed restaurant favorite). The Tiramisu was delicious. However, my husband tasted the cannoli and he felt that the cannoli shell was stale, The shell had an aged chemical oil taste, The cream filling was fine...we brought this to the owners attention, not to criticize, but to potentially prevent unpleasant dining experience for more customers should there be more stale cannolis in the batch. The owner's curt response was surprising. "It's not stale, I've been making this cannoli for 12 years and this is the first complaint". Her dismissal was a verbal slap in my husband's face, essentially saying that he has no taste buds and that he's making a wrongful accusation. My husband eats a lot of Italian food, Michelin star restaurants included and he favors cannolis wherever available. There is something wrong with the taste of this cannoli shell. Having the customer pay close to $100 for an otherwise very pleasant dining experience and then turning around and indirectly calling them an idiot by dismissing a complaint of the taste of one particular dessert dish without verification of the complaint is no way to run a business.
