Service was excellent. We got a discount for knowing the owner. Our party ordered different dishes and most of them were pretty good. The lobster was firm and chewy but it lacked the natural sweet taste. I love their salsa. It has a kick to it. Staff was friendly and attentive. read more

I wanted to experience Mexican food in LA and specially in East LA. It was a visit and I remember the movie, Born In East LA, that I watched a long time ago. The restaurant was excellent. Right from the service and the food. There was only one waitress handling the orders and she was pretty competent. Spanish maybe the preferred method of communication here, but the menu has pictures and English descriptions. It is easy to point out and order food and pay. Right off the bat as you choose your seat, you are invited with Chips and two dipping sauces. The sauces had some kick to them. Later for the main entrée, I ordered a fried Red Snapper with Rice and Potato fries. The Red Snapper was a big fish, well fried. I liked the way the wedge fries were done. All in all a good experience. There is parking on the street. The restaurant can double as a sports bar. The prices were surprisingly slightly cheaper than what I come across in DC. read more

My boss was raving about the fish tacos so we swung by for lunch on weekday around 1pm. We ordered a little bit of everything. Lots of menu options. The food was average, nothing that blew my taste buds but good. We got a shrimp cocktail, carne asada sope, ceviche tostada and a couple of fish tacos. The 4 star rating is strictly for the fish tacos. They were tasty and surprisingly delicious. I would recommend the place especially if you need a car wash and are craving some excellent fish tacos. read more

We walked in and it was filthy, trash and food on the floor it looks like they have not swept or mopped years, It wouldn't surprise me if roaches and rats are running under the tables while you eat. The tables were just as dirty. Really makes me wonder how clean and sanitary the cooking area is. Many times my girlfriend and I have come here. Good food however, I have never been given horrible service. Waited for over 35 minutes to find out that our food was next to be cooked. Theee best chicken fajitas anywhere , its served sizzling with grilled sweet onions and chared bell peppers. the molcajete Ranchero is also one of my favorite....carne asada, chicken, chorizo cactus and a peace of cheese all in a molcajete bowl with flavorfull mild salsa ranchera also sizzing as it arrives at your table. The ceviche is good , the shrimp cocktails are ok, ive had better but they do the job. Wife claims that the Micheladas are very tasty! And the best thing i like about this place is the prices, compared to similiar restaurants they have really good specials and prices a very reasonable. Expect service to be slow but fod will make up for it. If strolling musicians are you're thing, take some xtra money, for a couple of bucks they will sing at yore table. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for like 10yrs now. The food is delicious! There chips and salsas are unique super tasty ! I've tried carne asada with camarones, tacos de pescado, camarones al mojo de ajo, camarones costa azul, camarones a la diabla, menudo, red wet burrito chile rellenos & red enchiladas. This is my go to spot for delicious food and at a good price ! I enjoy the fact that I can't ever finish my food since portions are big so I get to eat twice ! Definitely give a try. read more

This place is decent. Most of the food is good here however there are a few entree's to avoid. I've tried several of their menu options and would stay away from the shrimp cocktail as it looks good but has no flavor, and the chicken enchiladas as the chicken had lots of ugly pieces in it like the bone and cartilage, gross! The service is like whatev's.. they kind of take forever to ask if you need refills on drinks, we actually had to let them know after all of our cups had been empty for quite some time. Ok so when they say Little Mexico they mean: "This place is pretty much Mexico". What do I mean by this? Well, a couple of men came by our table with flowers & knick knacks for sale, a Mariachi quartet sang to the table next to us (for a small tip), and the food is DELICIOUS. After a very stressful pedicure session (psych, I was relaxed AF) we were in need of beer and burritos STAT. Luckily this place is open pretty late. I ordered a Corona (served from the bottle, nice) and a shrimp burrito that took me by surprise. At a divey place like this I was not expecting a baja style burrito but rather beans, rice, cheese, and some grilled shrimp, right? So tell me why this burrito is filled to the brim with lightly fried shrimp, avocado, a spicy cream sauce, rice, and some cabbage? Delicious. They served it with a side salad which was weird in my opinion but whatever. My honorary Tia Dina picked up the tab so I can't make a comment on the bill other than thank you Dina! This place has really gone down throughout the years,, this is based on my route most recent visit,, ordered a shrimp cocktail and it tasted like if it was put together two minutes before I ordered it ,,very bland no taste ,,We also ordered some fish tacos that was worse the fish was under cooked with heavy grease on it it had a mush texture to it , The veggies tasted like they've been sitting for a while,, the last thing we ordered was a chicken salad the salad had lots of water in the bottom of the plate and the chicken some of it was overcooked and some of it was undercooked don't know how that happened very basic plain salad nothing special about it,, the waitresses are not very attentive they don't check up on you and not very friendly,, parking is horrible there it's inside of a little strip mall I think that will be the last time we go there again we're done with this place read more

Randomly went to this restaurant while searching Whittier blvd. for a mariscos joint--fish tacos. The place was pretty busy for lunch and the waitress were running about trying to maintain and keep up. I ordered a lunch special for $5.50, the fish taco plate and aqua fresca de melon. I have to say, it was a pleasant surprise for the price. It took longer to serve but when I got my plate it was hot and fresh. I definitely would recommend the place if you don't mind a little wait during the busy lunch time. read more

I walk in and see old Mexican men in cowboy hats. Oh how I love living in Montebello. A nice Little Mexican family restaurant. The menu was confusing to understand and adorned with too many pictures so I just ordered what my friend did: i think it was a carne asada burrito which was supposed to come with guacamole and sour cream inside but of course it didn't. The waitresses communicate in Spanish even when you speak in English, but that's ok. The place is mediocre, but the seafood looks good. Best part of the meal was the company and the lollipop!! I ordered an Aguachile botana that was $18.99 more than any other plate we ordered and the shrimp had poop and the shell still on them and when I told the waitress to comp them since we didn't eat it and I told her what was wrong with them she said "they always service them like that" and that she couldn't give me any type of discount and we ordered a shrimp cocktail that the shrimp also had poop in them. Only giving it 3 stars for the food, because it's really delicious. I've only had the Bistek Encebollado and it is so amazing, their beans are also some of the best I've ever had. Their chips are also very good and warm which is always a plus, and their salsa also has taste and isn't just spicy. Haven't really tried anything else, but I'm sure everything else tastes just as great. Only thing I really really dislike about this is the service. Everytime I've eaten here, the service is always horrible. The waitresses don't really come to the table as often as they should to ask if you need anything, and I m rather confused on whether or not they pick up your check of ir you have to take it to the register... which I found to be extremely strange. The waitresses aren't all that polite, and don't really seem to care much about the customers. The only thing that keeps me coming back is the food, otherwise I'd never go back there again. read more

I stopped coming to this restaurant a couple of years ago due to poor service but the food is good so after a couple of years I thought I'd give it another try. I highly recommend Carne asada fries..They're great. The meat is seasoned differently, the cheese is real, and the cream adds to it. I went in today abd purchases 2 tostadas. Shrimp ceviche. I get home to find out .i had a half full cup with ONLY 6 shrimp in it. Wtf! 8 bucks for 6 shrimp and a cup of cucumber.
