    Tacos de pescado

Been coming here for a few months now, the customer service is amazing. Parking is limited but it's never packed. It's a cute little spot in the corner. I love coming here. I always get the fish tacos!! And the tostada de ceviche fish. Definitely a good quick to go lunch spot. Will keep coming.

I was looking for a mariscos place close to my house. So of course, through a trusty Yelp search, I found this place! It's a small shack on the corner of Beverly and Hay. They have a few tables on the side so you can eat there. We ordered a lot of different items so we could try them. It's owned by a mom and son. And when we got there, it was just the mom by herself. She doesn't speak a lot of English so we were having some trouble understanding each other. But she was so sweet. So that we could understand, she gave us some samples. And that only made us want to try more items. We got 2 fish tacos, 1 shrimp taco, 1 dorados taco, aguachile, shrimp and jaiva tostadas, octopus cocktail and mixed cocktail. Everything was so good. As she was preparing our order, her son came back and she mentioned that he speaks English. He shared with us that they had opened a little over a year and half ago and that business slowly getting more steady. We noticed that they were busy as we were waiting for our order, which is always a good thing. But I'll definitely be coming back since it was very good. And even though there was a language barrier, they still gave excellent service. I always like to support family owned businesses so I'll be back.

Where do I start? This place is very small, they do have an outdoor patio area and it's very well kept and clean. Service was amazing and very friendly. They have very fair prices and more importantly super fresh ingredients. They put their special twist on all of the favorites you get at other marisco spots and they got it right. They have hands down the best aguachile verde! Best in L.A.! Come down and check it out for yourself, I am not embellishing. They have daily special min-thurs. Yup taco Tuesday! Half price fish taco! Found my new favorite marisco spot in LA.

It wasn't unusual for me to get a few sandwiches on a weekly basis way back when. I am very happy that Cook's Tortas is still around. I have tried every sandwich on their board. My favorite has always been the Bombero #6. It is grilled tender steak with a red pepper sauce and avocados. The bread is a sourdough Ciabatta style roll which is made fresh daily. One side comes with the sandwich. This time I chose the Ham and Cheese Macaroni Salad. For dessert, I always get Great Grandmother's Corn Cake. Everything tasted very fresh. There was ample beef in the sandwich. The corn cake was not too sweet and the guava jelly on top enhanced the cake well. A pineapple-orange aqua fresca was a good, refreshing beverage accompaniment. Service was very friendly and exemplary. The food was prepared quickly and brought out to me. Prices are much higher now than before; more than doubled so this would be considered a special treat for me if I am in the area.

I got the bombero and the meat by itself would be on the drier side but if you eat it all together with the avocado and bread it balances it out. The torta is not for me since it seems like they use sour dough and im not really a fan of that. But other people might like it. Place an order online and it was a quick and easy pick up. 3.5/5

Had this bookmarked for ages!…read more I showed up on Sunday night at 815p and there were only two parties ahead of me. I read rumors of lines, but YMMV depending on when you show up. The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

They come with some freshly shaved cabbage, pico de gallo and crema. I ordered the combo which means rice, beans, a roasted yellow chili and a small bag of chips with salsa and drink. We got there just before the lunch crowd, 11:30 and we were able to find parking easily in the lot. We opted for outdoor seating since it was a nice day and enjoyed our taco lunch. During the rush, lunch hour, be prepared to find it bustling with crowds and a drive through line that almost always stretches into the street. When in South El Monte or nearby, I highly recommend el Taco Nazo for crispy fried shrimp tacos that are not greasy and full of flavor.

Placed a 3 taco combo for the fish and potato tacos and was happily sipping on our horchata that was included with the drink. I was also surprised that they offered a free fish taco to new patrons. Honestly that's where the good ends for our meal. We placed the order for dine in at around 12:25PM and waited patiently as patron after patron received their food after us, even those that were behind us in the line. It took half an hour of waiting AND flagging a staff member before they frantically got to our order claiming a "machine" malfunction caused the delay. Seemed fine for the rest of the patrons after us... please don't make excuses... The KICKER: the potato taco wasn't even the potato it was just ricotta.. we didn't even bother to ask for a correction again. My experience was soured overall, and although the fish tacos were very good, I'll likely give their La Puente location a shot instead next time.
