Friends told me about a new Pho place in the neighborhood so I put on my warm clothes to take the 1/2 mile walk on a cold Monday to try them out. Unfortunately they only serve Pho on the weekend... so my game plan was crushed. So that my trek wasn't a waste I decided to give the Mushroom Miso and Little Piggy Banh Mi Sammie a try. THe Sammie was delish- pork belly really hit the spot. I was a little disappointed in the miso. I LOVE miso soup and this had no flavor to it what so ever. One of the best pho's I've ever had, and I've been to Vietnam. The stock was flavoured really well, and the quality of beef used was excellent. No fatty bits at all, which elevated it from good to great for me. I was pretty hungry and hadn't had a salad in a while, so I ordered the kale salad. It was actually really tasty. It had a nice dressing and was a pretty decent size for $7. I'm glad I arrived on a weekend so could try to beef pho. I currently live around the corner, so I might try the children noodle soup midweek next time. I definitely recommend little mo's. read more

I just had a bohn mi sandwich here, and it was delicious. Normally, vegetarian bohn mi sandwiches don't have much to them and little flavor, but this was packed with mushrooms and eggplant and tempeh and some kind of delicious sauce. I live right down the street, so I was super-excited when I found out they were doing a pho brunch. I've been a few times since it opened, and I have to give this place great reviews. The food is delicious; the Korean and schnitzel banh mi sandwiches are a great twist on the traditional sandwich, the pork belly bao is delicious, and the pho itself is very good - lots of fresh ingredients, yummy oxtail and beef slices, the perfect amount of chili. The few negatives mostly are nitpicks - the sandwiches are overpriced, the pho never really has enough noodles for my taste, and while the service can be good, there are a few employees who are downright rude. There's really no need to bitch about a customer asking questions of what is in one of your dishes, nor is there any need to constantly harp if they ask for no jalapenos. Sneering "PHO WITH NO JALAPENOS, THIS ONE'S *SPECIAL*" when I order and you deliver it is unnecessary. But if you want a good pho in Bushwick, this is the place to go. I didn't realize there was no table service until I awkwardly sat by myself for like ten minutes, but whatever, not the first time I've done some shit like that. Decor is tasteful and atmosphere fun and youthful. The food is, on the whole pretty tasty. It's plainly evident that the kitchen makes sure to use quality ingredients (which probably explains the high price point as well). My favorite is definitely the steak bahn mi -- always tender and juicy. However, as other reviewers have observed, the flavor of just about everything I've tried (especially the pho broth) always just seems to fall a little flat compared to the richness and complexity of the flavors one typically finds at Vietnamese restaurants that are... how should I put this... closer to their roots. Have only ever ordered takeout so cannot vouch for the quality of service. Minus 1 star because charging more than $10 for a sandwich and not including a side of some sort is not acceptable. First time visiting this spot! I feel as though it was very busy for a Sunday night, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I just had a long wait for my pho and my friend's banh mi. Definitely a cute date spot! The lighting is low (at least while it's dark outside) but I can imagine it being well lit because there are large windows! This place serves up the best vegan banh mi I've had in New York, hands down. Their veggie option for the sandwich includes grilled japanese eggplant and portobello mushroom, a soy chili glaze, and vegan garlic aioli + the regular fix-ins (pickled vegetables, cilantro, jalapeno, etc.). The sandwich is very reasonably priced at $9, but I recommend adding tempeh bacon for $2 for even more flavor and substance. Despite the simplicity of a banh mi sandwich, I've found it difficult to locate a vegetarian option as impressive as this one. Most places offer tofu, which is fine (albeit too easy!), but the eggplant/mushroom option was unique and prepared to perfection. The ambiance of this place is exactly what you'd expect for this area of Bushwick -- trendy and casual. The employees were nice, the service was quick. Sorry Little Mo, but I am not a fan. I visited on Friday so they did not have their classic Pho so I opted to get the Lemongrass Chicken instead, as well as a Shorty rice bowl, and the Brussel sprouts. I also topped off my meal with some Mexican coke. Sadly, all of my food items were a disappointment and the only highlight of my meal was the Mexican coke. Starting with the pho, the chicken tasted rubbery and did not have any lemon grass flavor. Traditional pho is made with certain KEY INGREDIENTS (beansprouts, lemon, chives, parsley, basil and mint), that were missing in the pho that I received at Little Mo's. The Shorty rice bowl was alright, the short ribs were decent but the rice tasted stale and kept in the rice cooker for awhile. Lastly, the brussel sprouts were spicy and had the texture of a thin piece of cardboard. Judging by the workers, appearance of restaurant and location; this is not the place to eat at if you want authentic Vietnamese food. If you want legitimate pho, go somewhere else instead. read more

This place was not good, over priced and they have a B! Me and the beau came here for lunch and were sorely disappointed. We saw the reviews and wanted to give it a try but when we pulled up and saw that they had a B grade I was super bummed. We ordered the thai wings, shorty (short rib) bowl and the little piggy (pork belly) bowl. The wings ($8) were ok at best. The shorty bowl ($11) - i have never had short rib this tough! It was not what I expected at all. The bowl comes dry with rice, carrots, cucumbers, etc. and there are sauces on the table. The sauces they had tasted like they'd been sitting there forever and two of them were a mystery (no labels). I started to eat it and my stomach immediately got upset. The little piggy bowl ($13)- the beau got the piggy bowl and he didn't think it had much flavor and the pork belly wasn't marinated very well. again the sauces were slim pickings and by the time you try them all, you have a messy bowl with sauces that you don't like all jumbled together. We also ordered the limeades which had absolutely NO sugar and were mostly ice.... and they were $3 EACH in short plastic cups! We were sooooo regretful of this meal and didnt even finish it. The money we paid ($40+) was not worth it and we both had upset stomachs. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Staying clear of places that have a B grade for now on... :( read more

Jackpot!!!!! I'm a lover of little skips and their delis matcha latte... So when I found out they had a new addition to their family I had to try it out... I order the lemongrass beef, I asked the girl at the counter if she preferred it as a sandwich or on rice, she recommended it on top of rice. Was she freaking on point! My bowl came with a perfectly sunny side up egg and veggies with cilantro and mango salsa on top of soft rice. The reason why there's no picture of it is simply because I was starving and I just couldn't wait to dive in to its deliciousness.
