After moving to a nearby neighborhood a few months ago, we gave this place a try. Unfortunately, we tried them on New Year's Eve for pickup. Considering the prices listed on their menu, I expected to step into a nice dining atmosphere when picking up our large order. I was underwhelmed with the decor and gimmicky uniforms. What do gondolas and the Leaning Tower of Pisa have to do with Rome? From my travels to Rome, I seem to recall Pisa is about 300km from Rome and Venice is a long 500+km from Rome. If you're looking for a romantic Italian restaurant with an expensive menu, this is not it. As for the non-authentic Italian food we ordered, let me start with the fried cheese requested by my daughter (she doesn't understand). It was cold and hard. The cheese wasn't even melted. It was OBVIOUSLY a pre-frozen appetizer....and not cooked correctly. See photo. The fettuccine alfredo was not the kind your Italian Aunt cooked. It was a weird, watered-down version with very little taste. How can you screw up such a basic dish? It's supposed to be fresh pasta tossed with butter and Parmesan cheese. As the cheese melts, it emulsifies the liquids to form a smooth and rich sauce coating the pasta. This was something totally different and not edible. The "lasagna" was somehow sweet? Huh? Very little meat and some strange sweet taste. Couldn't eat it. At least my daughter liked her spaghetti. We may give them another try in the future due to ordering on NYE. However, we have already spent $90 on something less than the pre-made food at Olive Garden. At least you can eat the food at Olive Garden.... usually. read more

This is a difficult review to write because we eat at Little Rome at least once a week. On Saturday we had 2 stuffed Pizzas delivered, one Supreme and one Chicken Parm. We had never had the Chicken Parm stuffed pizza before. The Supreme was fantastic as always. The Chicken Parm however was not edible. Before I say this I assure you I'm a garlic lover. The Chicken Parm pizza had so much raw uncooked garlic on it that it was completely inedible. We had to throw it away. If they would have at least cooked the garlic before they put it in the pizza it may have been decent. But raw uncooked garlic in that amount was disgusting. When you're paying $30 for a pizza you have much higher expectations of quality. It was awful. Everything else we've ever ordered from Little Rome has been fantastic but I'd have to warn you to stay away from the Chicken Parm Stuffed Pizza. read more

Pretty terrible experience from arrival to departure. Despite having a reservation, we waited nearly 15 minutes to be seated and then were seated at the table right in front of the front door. Constant blasts of cold air from people coming and going and standing around our table waiting to be sat or to get to the host stand for take out orders, throughout our meal. Once sat, it took more than 15 minutes for the waiter to acknowledge us and finally take our order. We were never given salt and pepper shakers and our flatware was dropped on the table as soon as the host saw our appetizers being delivered. The appetizers were good, although under seasoned (fried calamari). Half way through our apps, the main course arrived and my baked ziti was burned and dried out (see photo) and my husband's calzone was missing pepperoni. The waiter explained that although the menu showed pepperoni in the calzone, it actually had to be requested at the time of ordering it. He never mentioned this when we ordered it or offered an option for "add-ons" like pepperoni. They made a new one for my husband while I picked at my ziti. I didn't eat half of it yet the waiter never asked me about it or checked on my order. When the busser cleared our dishes they asked me how it was and I said it was burned and dried out. He apologized and took it away. We waited another 15-20 minutes for our waiter and I finally got up and went to the back to ask for take out containers for the food we wanted to take home (antipasto and remaining half of replacement calzone) and asked someone to find our waiter and ask him to bring us our check. Another 10 minutes later and our check arrived with full charge for everything we ordered including the incorrect food and the burnt pasta that wasn't eaten. We paid and left. Overall terrible experience, will not be returning. We must have been there on an off night based on other reviews I've seen for this place, but still there were too many things mishandled for us to spend another $75 (and this is a BYOB establishment) on a poor experience when there are so many great restaurants in the DFW area. read more

We also ordered pasta for lunch and both dishes were absolutely amazing. Definitely couldn't be finished! What a charming place! I was in the area, yelped, came for an early lunch on Saturday and had a really great meal with perfect service. The interior is really cute and our server was very friendly. He brought our drinks (in really nice glasses btw), took our orders and checked on us throughout. The gondola type outfits the servers wear are adorable. As for food, started with calamari and Caesar salad. He had shrimp fra Diablo, I went with the classic chicken parm but sooo many options looked great. I'll be sure to try more in the future. Bread and butter was on point! Hot and fresh and garlic knots are addictive. Same with calamari. It was light and when I dunked it, I knew I'd love this place. Their marinara sauce is so good- Super chunky with lots of fresh basil and olive oil. I loved it. Their Caesar was very heavy on the dressing but no big deal. I'd likely skip it next time but really want to try other apps. My chicken was crispy and his shrimp was huge. Our server brought us large to-go cups halfway through which was super thoughtful and much appreciated. What a great addition to the Plano dining scene. Tucked away in a strip mall, Little Rome is definitely worth the trip. A large menu offers lots of options-all attractively served and delicious. The Shrimp fettuccini Alfredo is perfect; Tortellini Michelangelo is a delightful mix of artichokes, mushrooms, Canadian bacon and fresh tomatoes in a garlicly rose sauce. Also love the eggplant Parmesan. Huge rolls are perfect for mopping up extra sauce. Appetizers and salads are equally good. Then there's the pizza: so good. Meat lovers is ah-mazing! Some of the things that stood out to me about this place are the waiter staff's cute uniformed outfits (with the Italian red scarf), menu with photos of every dish, and wide range of Italian soups. You are served with a basket of complimentary bread with whipped butter upon being seated. We ordered Chicken Piccata and Chicken Cremora. I was very satisfied with my Chicken Piccata as the chicken was ample and tender while the sauce wasn't too sour. The Chicken Cremora on the other hand, although the cream sauce was flavorful, came with way too much mozzarella cheese on top that it was practically a glob of cheese. The cheese was too much for even a cheese lover like myself. The portion here is very large and the value is great, but definitely come here expecting heavy Americanized Italian food. Just sat down to dinner here for the first time and I mostly like the place, cozy atmosphere and so forth, but the table we are sitting at reeks of cleaning chemicals. Extremely unappetizing to say the least and it is going to be hard to remember anything else about my experience here. Edit: just as our food was being brought out they made it much worse by copiously spraying the table next to ours. It almost disturbs me to write this. I try not to be the typical "it was a bad experience" writer. But, my wife and I have gone too far to give someone a second chance. We've been to Little Rome five times, and this is the last. The first time my wife and I ate at Little Rome, I wrote a personal note to the owner to explain my discontent so as not to cloud up their Yelp reviews. No response. Since that time we have tried again and again to reconcile going back. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it is just average. Little Rome is close, convenient, and generally acceptable neighborhood food, though it often takes on the appearance of eating in a Social Security cafeteria where quantity is preferred over quality; they do serve you a lot for the price. I am 75 so I should be able to get away with that critique. We normally eat between 5 and 6 so maybe the age grouping changes later in the evening. Tonight, however, was our last visit -- ever. When you are on a fixed income, value for the money takes priority. Here is how today's visit went down: Our contractor was late leaving so it was too late to fix a normal dinner. "Let's go to Little Rome." We grabbed a bottle of wine and drove the three miles. We both already knew what we wanted so the menu was returned. Pop the cork, ordered the house salads, entre, etc.. There were a few tables eating but Little Rome was not close to being half full. Two or three of our family friends were also eating there, so we talked to them. After waiting forever for the wine cork to be pulled, the waiter took our order. After a couple of glasses of wine our entre arrived. There were no garlic rolls in advance nor our house salads. I commented to the server when our entre arrived and she said she'd notify my waiter. They presented the garlic rolls (after the entre.) I told the waiter to cancel our salads and made sure he knew I was not happy. When the waiter brought out the extra Parmesan cheese I notified him that the rolls were stone-cold. "Uh, I'll get you some more." Halfway through eating my entre, the new rolls arrived. I picked mine up and noticed that it was barely warm on the outside of the bun. When I pulled it apart it was still extremely cold on the inside. I took the second roll and jammed my finger through the center making a distinctive hole. The cold center was worse than the first roll. I waited for our waiter to return, who apparently was too busy with a half-empty restaurant to attend to us. When he finally did show up, I had him stick his finger in the roll to confirm my opinion. I told him I wanted him to feel the roll's cold center to be sure when the owner (who never replied to my original email) read this review and would know why we would never be back. Typical of our previous five attempts to make this restaurant acceptable, no attempt was made to apologize or make amends. No manager (I am not sure they have one) interceded. I made no demand for them to do so. I am sure it would have been useless. read more

Found this spot, thanks to Yelpers! Ordered over the phone, which they had great lunch specials. Very friendly and courteous. The inside as pictures posted, with the leaning tower of Pisa. So cute. They were dressed like the people who row the boats in Vienna. Loved their accents. Their gourmet salad was refreshing and delicious. Very surprised and will order again. Their shrimp alfredo with extra shrimp was delicious. Their sauce was soup like which I do prefer. I didn't have to ask for extra sauce like I would at other places. WOW! Kept this on my radar & finally went Saturday night! What a gem! The food was fantastic, the ambience was quaint, sat on the patio, very comfortable & people were very friendly both waiting tables and sitting around us! When my "medium" deep dish pizza came out, everyone erupted in laughter at the size!!! We were at a 2 top & it almost filled the whole table!!! My husband ordered a chicken pasta dish, so I had just gotten this for ME!!! There were 16 GIANT pieces!!! IT was pretty funny!!! Please....everyone......order the stuffed mushrooms! Great flavor, give you a side of Tomato Basil sauce to dip the pizza in and that was great! with pizza its all about the dough and they nailed it! dough was perfectly cooked and the cheese was of great quality. tried the impossible cake and that was pretty good too. usually chocolate cakes are dry, but this has a custard top and the cake is moist like a tres leches. We came here for the first time last week and we both loved it! The food is so flavorful and high quality! We received great service from Jai and we really liked the cozy ambience. The BYOB is nice, as well. I had the Tour of Italy and my husband had the Fettuccini Alfredo and everything was divine. We met the owner, Luis, who was very nice and welcoming. I really hate to give a small business a bad review, especially based on a delivery order BUT.... So on Friday night around 7:30pm I placed an online order directly through their website. I received an email saying I can expect my order to be delivered at around 8:25pm. So at 8:45pm I called to ask the status of my order. After 10 minutes on hold I was told that... oops...for some reason my delivery order was X'd out as delivery so the driver never took it. I was very nice and patient at this point. I told the manager that they can still deliver but I just want to ensure the food was still hot when I received it. It wasn't. The food was barely warm and the Alfredo had almost no sauce. This is the main thing that made me give a bad review...after being forgiving for my order showing up two hours after I placed it, as an I'm sorry they gave me one (very small) free price of cheesecake. It smelled rancid. Either the cream cheese they used was bad or it sat out for days not refrigerated. It's still in my fridge one day later and when I open in it it makes me sick. Quality control has gone way done here. It's a real shame. read more

Really enjoyed little Rome's relaxed atmosphere, good service and tasty food. While the decor can be a little over the top, it's a fun way to experience a good Italian meal. The parking lot can be a little busy. The outdoor seating maybe really nice when it's not 100000000 degrees outside and the semi open kitchen allows you to enjoy the pizza tossing from across the room. The good first. Food was good, Chicken Marsala is a hidden gem! Pizza was ok, crust didn't have much taste but cooked well. Our server was great and almost made up for the bad. The bad ...6:30 reservations and checked in about 2-3 minutes before 6:30. At 7 we checked with the Host(tall kid with a bad attitude) and said we didn't check in! At the time my wife was wearing a very bright pink top and went in and confronted the kid who said we never checked in and he remembered her and responded with my mistake. An hour wait. Then 20 min till the server came. We had to get our own water and wine glasses so wine started flowing, so we were not that pissed. But I guess the manager and owners where to busy or embarrassed to drop by our table and ask how things were. Way too many good restaurants in the area to deal with this.
