Tonight was our first time trying Little Rome's pizza. The gluten free pizza is the largest size I have seen locally and was delicious. The deep dish is fantastic as well. The delivery too a bit longer than expected due to an issue with the address but the driver was super nice and explained the delay. We will order again soon! read more

What a surprise! I'd seen locals posting about Little Rome but it's hard to think a neighborhood Italian restaurant would be much to write home about. We had a gift certificate so we have takeout a try. First, the restaurant was absolutely packed - every table claimed and tons of people coming in for to go. That's a very good sign. Then we got our food (pasta dishes rather than pizza). Oh wow! Really tasty and it didn't taste basic - more artistry to the cooking that we expected. Had lunch for the first time there the server she was nice but the service was slow we had an hour and a half for lunch and the place weee literally 2 minutes away but by the time we received our food we had about 20 minutes to eat and get back so needless to say we could not enjoy the food like we would've wanted and the pizza was just ok not cooked to my liking the salad looked delicious which I did not order but when I arrived home I placed my leftovers in my air fryer and it was much better than before the crust was much crispier I don't think I will be visiting again read more

What a gem of a restaurant! Our previous favorites, Maggiano's and Brio, have been sadly disappointing so we were thrilled to find this superb Italian restaurant right here in our backyard. Food is fresh, delicious, and plenty! We even took some home. Our server Jay was outstanding, and very knowledgeable about all the food choices, of which there are so many that I can't imagine what their kitchen must be like. So, Adios to our previous Italian restaurant haunts....we will always be loyal patrons of this sweet little place. I can hardly wait to be able to spend some time out on the patio! One of the few places in Dallas that makes a lasagna I will eat. I agree with some of the other reviews here that some of their stuff can be a little under salted (soups and Alfredo) but like, I have salt. That's an easy fix. I'd rather things be under salted than over salted. Their red sauce in general is just a real winner. I was so excited about the reviews but I unfortunately don't have a lot of great things to say!! The antipasto salad mix of greens (gardineira on lettuce, essentially) were an odd combo with the red tomato vinaigrette dressing. I'd abandon the dressing altogether. While the provolone/ham/salami rings SOUNDED yummy, it was way too big and made the salad an inconvenience to eat. Tortellini brodo tasted like store bought bland tortellini in water. Not broth... just spinach and water. It was really odd to me even though I was so excited about it. I also got the stuffed mushrooms (mushrooms gratinati) that reviews rave about - while it might have been one of the higher points in my order, still oddly sweet and not cooked the way I usually expect mushrooms to be (they were a little too raw). Veal Marsala was a no. Threw it away after a few bites because the veal was dry like rubber and the sauce was tasteless, pasta a bit over cooked. And I of course succumbed to the sound of the spinach stuffed pizza... it's actually constructed shockingly well. I was expecting it to fall apart especially via delivery! And you have the option to edit it yourself (I added sundried tomatoes and artichokes, but if I were you, I'd leave it alone! They seem to know what they're doing here). Ordered online for pickup. Got a nice call to clarify/confirm the order. Food was ready earlier than the given time and was very warm! Only sad news- ordered a stuffed pizza and it was missing like 3 ingredients. I'm pretty disappointed because the ingredients we did have were delicious, and it's not a cheap pizza. This little gem is in our neighborhood, so we thought we'd give it a shot. So glad we did. We've been three times now, each time with a different couple. All meals have been excellent. Hot bread and butter are brought to the table while waiting for appetizers and entrees. Hubby has reflux, so he avoids it because the garlic bread is heavy on the garlic. That's fine by me... I'll eat his share! We've tried various dishes and liked them all. Our favorite appetizer is the fried calamari. The flavor is great with perfect seasoning, and the serving size is plentiful and shareable. It is light and not at all heavy. The mussels California is also very good. On our most recent visit, we had a "build your own" pizza. The thin crust was perfect: not soggy, cooked exactly right, held up to the toppings. The pizza sauce was tasty but not overpowering. We were sad when it was gone because we wanted more! The lasagna is classic and expertly prepared. Comes in a piping hot dish with melted, bubbly cheese. Flavors are excellent. Serious "comfort food" for me. Chicken castellini is another favorite. The mushrooms and artichoke hearts add interest and texture to the juicy chicken. Hubby loves the veal florentini but says the shrimp alfredo is his favorite. The atmosphere and decor in this little spot is clever and fun. You'll see a mini leaning tower of Pisa, a cheerful gondolier, and part of the Colosseum. The staff are all friendly and helpful and work hard to make the experience great. We've noticed they do a big takeout business, and we plan to try that soon. If you're in the neighborhood, or even if you're not, stop by Little Rome and treat yourself to a great meal! read more

We've been back several times since my last review. The food and service has been pretty good overall. However, on our most recent visit (Saturday evening 02/03/24), things weren't very good at all. It was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. Our server came and took our drink order (ice water) and promised bread and butter. She brought things to the table and left us to decide on our order. My wife and I typically get a pizza here. It is a modified version of a menu pizza - vegetable pizza on a regular crust, add Italian sausage and substitute the Alfredo sauce for the red sauce. Nothing crazy, just a couple of changes. After a 30 minute wait (after ordering) while several tables that came in after us received their food, our pizza came out. Vegetable pizza? Check. Regular crust? No, thin crust. Add Italian sausage? Yep. Alfredo sauce? Nope. And, the cheese was sparse enough for us to ask ourselves if there was any cheese on the pizza. To her credit, the server made an immediate offer to have the pizza remade. However, after a 30 minute wait for the incorrect pizza, we decided to eat what was served. She did bring out a small bowl of the Alfredo sauce about midway through the meal. We finished up, she took the leftover pizza to box it up and brought the bill. Because of the issues, they applied a 50% discount on the bill. But, the upcharge for the Alfredo sauce was still on the bill! We paid and left a decent tip on what the full charge for the pizza would have been. Not sure where the breakdown was, but this wasn't a good experience at all. So, the pizza was wrong, charges were on the bill for items that really weren't received and the wait was long. And why is there an upcharge for putting a different sauce on a pizza - a sauce that is available on other pizzas at no extra charge? If we didn't know that they could do better, this would have been our last trip. We will probably give them another try, but there are quite a few other non-chain pizza places in the area that we can go to instead. Hopefully this was a glitch, but it doesn't change the fact that we had a mostly unpleasant experience here. read more

I haven't made any reviews in a while but this plaice is absolutely amazing and very much deserving. I stumbled on this place as I was in the area. They have amazing lunch specials which include bread, either a soup/salad and a drink. Not to mention the soup portion is served in a bowl where as many other places give you a small cup. First time visit ... ordered to-go at the front hostess stand, - sat outside on the nice bench. Was told by the front desk that she would bring my order out to me once it was ready. An HOUR later I stepped inside to check on it, there it sat for who knows how long. The hostess offered "I'm sorry, I was busy" I spoke with the owner, he attempted to excuse her lack of follow through (said she was new) and proceeded to explain how busy they were. This is the best Italian restaurant in Plano. I have never had a bad meal here. Pizza is amazing, pastas are great, sandwiches great (I always get extra marinara sauce cause it's so good). I love their chicken aristocrat. It is one of my favorites with pink sauce, so good. Their appetizers are amazing too. Stuffed mushrooms are to die for, bruschetta is so light and delicious, and pleasantly surprised with their mozzarella cheese sticks. Their staff is always helpful and attentive. To add insult to injury, they have poor Mgt and ownership To put it bluntly, Louise will treat you fine if you are spending your money and putting up with the bad service but have an issue and you will see he truly DOES NOT CARE!!! All establishments have issues, but it's how they get handled once they are brought to the owners attention and as mentioned earlier he does not care. This is the most awful pizza I've had in my life. Pizza had no flavor we couldn't even finish half even though it looked good. It didn't matter that we had extra pizza sauce, plentiful toppings and red pepper it still tasted awful. Also, we ordered for delivery and the ETA was 10 but didn't receive our order until 10:40. The delivery person didn't have crushed red pepper on them so we had to drive out to get some too. Bummer. read more

Wanted to really love this place. For a strip mall, it is done up nicely with a cute Italian perspective. Place was very clean and comfortable. People were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately, it always comes down to the reason we are there - FOOD! As we were unable to do a sit down, take out it was. What do you get in an Italian place to really evaluate it? Well, Lasagna it is... Unfortunately, they failed to impress. To be honest Chef Boy Ar Dee would have been better. Food was rather bland, sauce watery, pasta undercooked. Especially if you're serving up Italian, you need bold flavors - something that sets you apart and is a reason to come back - which this place did not serve up. I ordered a large pepperoni and jalenpeno pizza from here. The misheard my order and made me a Supreme with jalapeños. But I didn't notice until too late. The size of the pizza is sooooo large. I thought it was extra large. I can't even imagine how big that is. The slices are very big. The complaint that I have is that the crust toward the middle where the topping are located is soggy. I'm not sure if it's because of all the toppings on a supreme pizza. The outside crust is nice and crunchy and tastes very good. We have tried them once so far, delivered. The food was excellent. Hot, and more than we could eat. We have just placed another order. Hoping it will be as good as the first time. I had ziti siciliana and my husband had a meatball sub. Tonight we will try the lasagna and the spinach manicotti. Update.: our order was incorrect. We did not get spinach manicotti. We received regular instead. I called Little Rome and let them know, they refunded my entire check. I am surprised and will definitely be back.
