After seeing Chef Milena on Guys Grocery Games, I drove an hour and a half to Little Sister's, and I can say it was worth it! We made reservations for Sunday 3/10 for a group of four and after another person decided to join, I called the restaurant, and they were very quickly able to accommodate. After we arrived at the restaurant, we had a short wait to be sat. The restaurant is on the smaller side so I can understand why reservations are needed. It has very nice décor. After being sat, Chef Milena came by and quickly took our drink orders. We ordered sangrias, Guava-Pineapple Fizz, and cortados. For brunch, they have a prefixed menu for $40, which has some nice options, but I chose to order the Mofongo benedict with a dulce de leche quesito. The quesito was delicious and I ordered another one to go, I just couldn't resist. The Mofongo Benedict had the perfect fried platano with pernil alongside the eggs, sautéed onions, and achiote hollandaise. I really like how all the flavors were able to blend. The Mofongo also had the perfectly crisp flavor. This restaurant was an amazing culinary experience and I already look forward to going back. Chef Milena was a wonderful host! I loved my experience at Little Sister. The interior is SO CUTE it makes me long for the days when we could fill up indoor spaces. They are very COVID conscientious and restrict the number of people inside to order, they wipe down menus, etc. I came right before closing time (2pm), but really wanted to the soup, which was an eat-in-house special. I opted to take it outside to their garden, and also got a sweet turnover. I wanted a raspberry one, but they were out of everything bf except quince. I had no idea what a quince was (my Master's should probably be burned), but the waitress told me, "it's good, just get it." So I did, and she was right! It's a bit like apple, but with a tart twist. The raves are appropriate it turns out for this gem on Hope St. The best brunch I can remember having in Rhode Island outside of the venerable Nicks, and we will surely be back. The Puerto Rican cafe has a lot going for it, starting with its delectable pastries, we love the empanadas in particular but everything we tried was delicious. My girls loved their horchata pineapple orange juice, and my horchata latte was refreshing as well. I pondered different options and was not disappointed with my Cubano with egg, which turned into a knife and fork meal but which stood out from most of the Cuban sandwiches I have had locally. My wife loved her galette. The service was superb and very warm. The atmosphere was vivid with colorful decor and relatively tight packed diners, which provided a vibrant energy. Had been meaning to come here ever since they opened and finally made it. Cute cafe/bakery with Puerto Rican influences. Currently only doing to-go orders - order ahead or walk in to order. The inside is really cute and well-decorated. Staff is super friendly. Good mask and social distancing practices. There are pastries on display behind the counter and you can look before you order. They have hot food too that's made to order. We went for the "croqueta madame" which is a croque madame but with a ham croquette instead of having slices of ham. SO good. Comes with some greens dressed in a lemony vinaigrette - perfect to balance out the richness of the sandwich. Also got the roasted tomato/poblano/goat cheese galette, which was also delicious. So many more pastries we were tempted to try. Didn't get coffee this time but it looks like they serve Bolt Coffee for drip and iced, Gustos Coffee espresso. We heard wonderful things about the food here so we tried the brunch this weekend. WOW! We had the Cubano on Brioche and Mofungo Benedict and we very impressed. Easily one of the best cubanos available in Providence. As of for the mofungo, it was superb. Whoever roasts the pork here is a mad genius. The downside of Little Sister is its size. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place at all. First of all, I was told to book a reservation for brunch on their booking partner, Resy.com. So I got ahead and book a reservation for 3 people. Myself, my fiancé, and my grandmother. FOR 11 AM. We get there at 10:40, check in and wait. We waited until from 10:40AM until 11:13AM in a very small hallway filled with about 6 other people. This hallway is also where food comes out from. (Very unsanitary and male waiter kept pushing past my fiancé) At 11:13AM we decide to leave. I felt extremely bad for my elderly grandmother, as cannot stand for long. There is no place to sit and she was in pain from standing there for so long. We leave, and the host/server comes rushing out asking why we are leaving. We give her our reasonable response and she acted like it was our fault. Now heres the kicker... they have a reservation policy stating a $10 charge for each person that cancels. They also have a 10 minute grace period for reservations. After 10 that minutes... they charge you. They go ahead and charge me for canceling, after we were there 20 minutes ahead of time. Waited LONGER than their grace period they have for customers, yet I'm still charged. (In this sense, we should have charged them $10 per person for waiting past their grace period) I can understand having this policy. But when they make customers waits 30+ minuets for a seat, ESPECIALLY with an elder. And we even wait past their grace period... we should not at all be charged for their negligence. Also 2 parties of 2, were sat before us when we got there WAY before them. Absolutely horrible for this, do not recommend. read more

From the second you walk in there are a half dozen plants and fun colored walls, it's cozy and we were greeted to grab a menu off the wall. English on one side and Spanish on the back, as well as daily specials. They have nice one way traffic, enter the side door and exit the front door to be covid friendly. The place was SO cute and cheerful and Cozy, can't wait to eat inside!! Currently take out only, but have leak proof cardboard. Also currently only Friday-Sunday sadly. Lots of coffee options. The menu was marked what was and was not vegan friendly, which was so helpful to bf whom often opts to get nothing vs reading through with disappointment! They had oat milk for him as well. The food - i went with the special of French toast dulce de leche with pecans sans pecans (thank you for allowing that!) I didn't want to bother with a substitution so just left it at that but the chef added some raspberries for me as a surprise (don't worry they were loose if I didn't want them and I had previously mentioned i had zero allergies, just didn't love nuts) - so 10 stars for being so sweet! Absolutely enjoyed catching up with my out of state friend at Little Sister on a Thursday afternoon! The vibe and atmosphere is perfect for some catching up. Really gorgeous decor and cozy setting. I looked at their website ahead of time and I really appreciated their honestly about how they're clear it's very small inside so they don't have highs chairs or room for strollers. That was my key for an adults only catch up and I left my little one at home. I did notice there were a lot of FYIs on the website that I can see if you don't read ahead, you might get frustrated just showing up. They let you know you have to bring a to go cup if you're taking a drink to go, they also let you know that on weekends there is no takeout. I can see how if you don't check ahead of time, you'd be frustrated. The server was very kind and talked about the different pastries with me. I bought 3 and it came to about $20 including my espresso. I think that price is on par with seven stars on the same street, also I got an iced tea to go and they filled my whole cup (which was large)! Overall I absolutely loved the place. Disappointing. Found the restaurant through Facebook, nice location Nice décor. I was anticipating a culinary gem inspired by Puertorican flavors, unfortunately not the case. Esto no es comida o gastronomia Boricua. I would refer to it as a latin Infusion, not Puertorican. Very limited menu so we ordered what was there, one of each empanada, a quesito, and a cubano. The epanadas were nothing but pilsbury dough with a non-discernable filling, couldn't tell one from another. Quesitos were right behind, no flavor, as for the Cubano Brioche, again the pork was flavorless along on a brioche, not pressed, a staple of a true cubano. Real Puertorican food has flavor, none of these selections did: Ajo, Culantro, Achiote, Ají, Recao, Sofrito, etc. I know because I've been there, I'm half Puertorican, lived there for most of my life. Doña Carmen Aboy de Valldejuli was my great great aunt, my grandmother, mother, and aunts all cooked with the lady. Don't know her? Look her up, she was known as one of the foremost chefs of PR cuisine. It is unfortunate that the Cliquish Eastside clientele won't know any better. The Cortado was very good. read more

Not ready for prime-time. We live in the neighborhood and would love to make Little Sister our go-to coffee and savory bite spot. However, on our third or fourth time visiting on a recent Saturday, we were completely disappointed. We arrived around noon hoping to place a simple to-go order for coffee (straight coffee, not espresso or latte) and an empanada. We were the third party in line, with a couple and a single person in front of us. We waited. And waited. They appeared fully staffed - two people in the kitchen, an order taker, and two people behind the counter. During our time in line, I looked at my phone a few times; we talked about leaving, but we really wanted to have a good experience and support one of our local spots. So, we stayed. From the time we got in line until we ordered was over 15 minutes. Then, we waited more than 10 minutes for a hot coffee (poured from the coffee urn sitting on the counter) and an empanada (grabbed from the display behind the counter). The coffee was fine and the empanada was very good until I hit the bite with the salt bomb in it. We really, really want to like and appreciate Little Sister, but at this point we'll be waiting until they have regular hours and the staff have figured out timely service. I was attracted to this café by their eclectic menu which included several Caribbean inspired offerings for breakfast and lunch, and their outside tables. We found a nice outside table in a little patio, that was nice and private. The lattes and the guava and cheese quesito pastries were a real treat which will make me come again. I tried their tamarind lime juice drink but it was too sour to really enjoy it. Little Sister has become one of my favorite spots in PVD. From their sweet & savory pastries (obsessed with the chicken chile verde empanadas and the guava & cheese quesitos), to their lunch plate & brunch offerings (try the mallorca ham & cheese but add an egg, you won't regret it), to their evening tapas & tasting menus, everything I've tried from the Little Sister kitchen has been incredible and always leaves me with a new found appreciation for Puerto Rican cuisine. Most recently my wife and I came in to try the new dinner tasting menu and we were blown away - it's been two weeks and my wife still hasn't stopped talking about the swordfish ponchos with sweet potato puree :) A big thank you to the whole Little Sister team for bringing some sazón to the Hope Street community, I'll be seeing y'all again soon! read more

Little Sister was an oasis of delicious food and comfort after a morning of walking and shopping in Providence. They were recommended by the people at "Frog and Toad" and when my husband and I arrived, I was HUNGRY!! I ordered a lunch special of BBQ chicken, rice, salad and avocado and he got a Cubano on brioche. There seemed to be a LOT of additional delicious pastries and empanadas, but I was in search of food food and so went with the chicken. We were able to find an outdoor table along the sidewalk, but didn't realize until we were done eating that there was a beautiful backyard garden with tons of tables, set apart from the construction and general noice of the street. Bummer! Our food was excellent and came out in a reasonable amount of time, my only (small) complaint was serving sizes. My chicken lunch special had a reasonable amount of salad and rice and avocado, but only one small thigh piece of chicken for $16 (including an added $2 upcharge for the avo). read more

Amazing brunch! We loved everything! We started with a chicken empanada and two pastries that our group of five shared. All were delicious! My main was the cubano with runny egg. The sandwich was excellent as was the side salad that accompanied it. The iced mochata latte was also really good. Service was attentive and friendly. It's a small cozy bright warm inviting spot so the ambiance is great. We'd highly recommend this. read more
