I don't belive you can find better or more friendly people. Hands down, the staff at this awesome restaurant are as good as it gets....not to mention the entrees. Absolutely top tier!. I was there years ago, when it was Named Newman's, this is far and away, much better on all counts!! I never went back to Newman's and recommended it to no one. This is a much different experience. We didn't make reservations, we just walked in , and were seated in the upstairs dinning area , everything was wonderful, the food the service, we had lobster ravioli and crab cake appetizers, with a walnut and pear salad, Duck a l orange and eggplant Parmesan main dishes My only complaint from this experience was our waitress forgot we ordered the salads and we had a 30 min wait on the transition between the appetizers and dinner . So I had to give only 4 stars on the review for the mistake , but the food itself was 5 stars read more

After dinner, it was clear to see why they were the only ones with openings that night. We had ordered my toddler pasta, which was clearly reheated from either the day before or earlier in that day. It was stiff and hard. Which is really disgusting. Second, the portions are tiny and lack flavor. Menu said the salmon was wild, so that was a plus. Otherwise, I would've probably skipped eating the food altogether. I have no idea how this restaurant is able to stay afloat. I completely understand and support the small local vibe, but I'd avoid coming here unless all other options are unavailable. Next day we were able to eat at the Bistro. This restaurant used to be Newmans 88 and was a favorite of ours, but the chef died. We returned this year with a little trepidation but if anything it was lovelier than ever, Service is gracious and warm, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the music is romantic and classic[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the food was out of this world, My Pinot Noir was perfect, as was my Apple, Gorgonzola and walnut salad, and my duck a l'orange was fabulous. Back in November, we made a reservation for our family of 6 to have dinner at the Little Yellow House in cannon beach on New Year's Eve. Seaside and cannon beach get busy during the holidays so getting a table can be difficult on New Year's Eve especially with a party of 6 so we made sure to book far in advance. When we arrived for our New Years dinner, we found that the restaurant was closed down permanently. We had called earlier in the day to confirm our reservation and their phone line was still connected with a full voicemail inbox so we figured they must be very busy. Arriving on NYE to find a closed restaurant was extremely disappointing and frustrating as finding a new restaurant that can sit 6 people in a small town on NYE is next to impossible. I understand that it might have been difficult to call everyone on your reservation list to notify them of their closure, however updating your Facebook page or the voicemail message for a phone line that is actively in service would have been an easy and courteous gesture if this business ever has plans to reopen in the future. My family and I loved coming to Newmans 988 and had been loyal patrons for years under the previous owners and were hopeful the Little Yellow House could carry on the exquisite dining experience Newmans always provided. It's saddening to see the Little Yellow House was unable to live up to the incredible and long standing legacy Newmans created. read more

There were three of us. We had a reservation but had a 30 minute wait. There is no place to wait inside this very small house. We all ordered steak and mine had a lot of gristle and only some of it could be chewed. It was not served with any kind of sauce. The potatoes were hard and purple with no flavor. They may have been boiled. There were a few sad side veggies which also were flavorless. The plate looked very underwhelming and colorless. It was a very strange experience. We really wanted to like Little Yellow House. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was super friendly, the restaurant is very charming, and the menu looks amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, our meal was a let-down. The service was extremely slow. There was apparently a celebrity dining that night which, for some reason, slowed down our service. It was almost an hour from the time we received our salad to when our entrees came. The waitress was extremely apologetic and comp'd us a glass of wine and the chef comp'd our salad. But none of that really helped because when the food came out, it wasn't nearly worth the wait or the price. I had a salmon special with polenta that was pretty bland and didn't seem very warm, like it had been sitting. My wife liked her prawns better. The salad was very simple greens with a vinaigrette. We also got a dessert as part of the prix fixe menu but I can't remember what it was because it wasn't anything special and I was so tired of waiting. Our meal ended up costing about $175, which would have been fine if the meal had lived up to expectations. It didn't. It may have just been an off night. Unfortunately, we were visiting from out of town so likely won't get back to give Little Yellow House another try. read more

This restaurant is an absolute hidden treasure. I can't believe there are so few reviews. The food was amazing, service impeccable but did I mention the food was amazing? We had the scallops appetizer which was cooked to perfection...we cleaned the plate! I had the mushroom soup, my husband had the potato leek soup...both just delicious. I loved the broth in the mushroom soup. Our server recommended the lobster ravioli which was different from any lobster ravioli I'd ever had before. But the ravioli had large chunks of real lobster and the sauce was really good! I would definitely eat here again the next time we make it to cannon beach! read more

Highly recommend if you are looking for a fine dining type place that will leave you feeling like you are dining at some awesome find while vacationing in France.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We are visiting from California where the great restaurants are plentiful but this place just served the best filet mignon and fresh caught Halibut we have ever had. The food and service was so welcoming we went back the next night. I mean why not, we are on vacation after all. Haha. The Chefs version of sure and turf was elk with prawns and scallops. Let me say.....it was delicious! The breads are home made every day as is the soups and deserts (we had the strawberry and mocha ice cream) We found out the owners are the Chef and the gal that makes the breads, soups and deserts by day and serves you by night.
