We also got the seafood hot pot, and honestly, everything was so flavorful and delicious--it totally hit the spot. My friend even commented that this might be the best bulgogi dish that he's ever had. I myself really enjoyed this dish and the oyster mushrooms along with the bulgogi really held their own -Banh Chan assortment (complimentary with meal): The fish cake, and kimchi were all great. The highlight is the premium bossam in house special soy sauce. The onions soak up all the sauce and become soft and sweet. Visited Yukdaejang K-town I ordered Yukgaejang with Kalguksoo noodle which didn't come with rice, and it was terribly small, just little bit of noodle which I don't understand why they don't come with rice. It has almost same amount of noodle as regular Yukgaejang which comes with glass noodle and rice, but no rice and more expensive than regular Yukgaejang. I think the owner never tried other restaurant never. You should try other Kalguksoo and compare the amount, if it's gonna be a regular meal without rice it should have way more noodle. Salty soup with just little bit of noodle and no rice??? Come on!!! I even asked the server "No rice comes with this order?" and server simply told me "No, it doesn't!" which is totally wrong, server should have asked me if I wanted a rice even they have to charge for that or not. Yuk Dae Jang is a solid spot for consistent and flavorful Korean food, but there are definitely some things to keep in mind before visiting. Let's start with the biggest downside--parking. The plaza is a nightmare with limited spots and a terrible layout. If you don't find a spot, there's street parking and a lot across the street, but it's not the most convenient since you have to walk through an alley and cross the street. Once inside, the restaurant is usually busy and can get crowded, but I've never had to wait too long. The ventilation could be better--it gets a little stuffy, and I always end up smelling like food after. The food here is always good and consistent. My go-to orders: 1. Yukgaejang with fresh in-house ramyun noodles - The spice level is a little light, but the bouncy, nicely cooked noodles soak up the broth really well. It also comes with a good amount of brisket, which is a nice bonus. 2. Bossam - I like that it's served over a burner, which gives it a nice charred taste after cooking for a while. 3. Cold Noodles - One of my favorites here! They have a great ratio of toppings, and the noodles are nicely chewy and silky. One time I ordered a Soondae noodle soup (off-menu item) that was just okay. The soup itself was good, but the soondae wasn't the best. The service is a bit slow--they don't check in often for water refills, banchan refills, or when you're ready for the bill. That said, it always looks like the workers are busy, so it might just be a staffing issue. read more

Soooooo good! I've had a lot of different kinds of Korean food but have never tried yukgaejang (spicy beef noodles). This is basically what YDJ specializes in and definitely lives up to its name. Walked in on a pretty cold, windy day so I was already craving some soup. I also ordered the dumplings (which I think was the octopus one). Dumplings were not that amazing and not worth the price in my opinion. However, the yuk gae jang was incredible. I got mine with purple rice and glass noodles which I think matches the soup better. It was very flavourful and I loved the beef in it. This was so good that I ended up ordering DoorDash like two weeks later and the delivery version was great as well. Service is very standard ktown; nothing amazingly great but still attentive. The restaurant was also designed very ktown-esque and made use of its small space. Went to a location in San Diego and vowed I would return to an LA location! Came here on a Thursday around 7 pm. There was plenty of parking in the small lot that served multiple businesses. The inside wasn't busy at all. The employees were all Korean and very attentive and friendly. Just an fyi if you plan to take things home and dine in, there is a 25 cent charge for a to/go container so maybe bring your own container (saves money and is planet friendly!). Last time I came I had the original yuk gae jang with custom made ramyum and it was so delicious! This time we ordered the handcrafted Mandu & rice cake in ox bone broth, the premium tripe and brisket yuk gae jang, and the medium premium bossam boiled in various herbs all for 3 people. The bossam came out first served with an amazing variety of banchan. With the bossam on a hot plate, we received purple rice, white rice, kimchi, white kimchi, fish cake, chives, spicy pickled veggies, lettuce, garlic, jalapeños, soy bean paste, and shrimp sauce. They went so well with the bossam! We replenished some of the banchan a few times and it was heaven in my mouth. So happy to have tried this and would definitely get again! I enjoyed the yukgaejang, the broth was delicious but I wasn't a fan of the texture of the tripe as much. I prefer the original yuk gae jang that just comes with the meat. The mandus were very yummy and the broth was so flavorful as well! I even mixed this broth with the spicy broth together.
