    Pork Chop and cabbage and chic n rice soup

    Food very good!! Mother in law approved!! :-). But the waitress was the cherry on top. Miss Rebecca made us feel welcomed and her attentiveness was much appreciated!! So come check out this southern delight!!

    Service was really good. Hamburger steak was slightly over cooked, with not a lot of flavor. Should have got it with the onions. Macaroni and cheese was delicious, tea was weird tasting, but that's probably due to the water in Lexington County. It was an off time to come, between lunch and dinner, so. Will definitely return and get the chicken fried steak.

They bring a very cute butterfly fruit plate for kids, which I thought was really beautiful and very on target. We tried the Japanese fried chicken appetizer with the sauce on the side. They came in chicken nugget form, and they were really good with a very subtle flavor and fairly crispy. The wedge salad was also tasty along with the garlic bread. We enjoyed the brussels sprouts as well. I ordered the flank steak with mashed potatoes and the corn. The dish was so delicious. Their fries were also really good. The cocktails are AMAZING -- seriously some of the most unique and delicious drinks in the area. They're creative, flavorful, and beautifully made. Nikki, the bartender, is an absolute gem. She is so kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful when I'm feeling indecisive. I can tell her what flavors I'm in the mood for, and she'll make something off-menu that ends up being perfect every time. The fact that she remembers me and my boyfriend even though we've only been 3 or 4 times says so much about the level of care and attention she gives her guests. The food is pretty good overall, but for us it doesn't quite match the price point. That said, we happily sit at the bar because the drinks and service make it completely worth it. If you're going, grab a seat at the bar and let Nikki take care of you -- you won't regret it!

We order a mojito and an eighteen elven as drinks. The pimento cheese and shrimp for appetizers. 12oz NY Strip with French fries and cream fried corn with a 16oz hand cut ribeye with mashed potatoes and string beans. We added on 3 scallops and were happy that we did. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, steaks both medium rare and the drinks were made well. Not great and if you look at the pix it is a bit short. The she crab soup was thinner than most and had an excessive amount of shell in it. Some rather large pieces. Some shell is to be expected but this was a bit much. The bread for dipping was delicious and the soup had plenty of crab in it to go with the shells. Then came time to order main course. I have had salmon, reddish and tuna this week so opted for the scallops. I asked to swap both sides for a side salad and was told no. They don't do that. Hmmm. Usually for a small up charge yes. I have never been just told flat out no till this evening. She advised her manager said no when she went and asked so I had to choose two sides so went with the green beans and the Cajun coleslaw. The scallops were a bit small but ok. The green beans were delicious. Best part of the whole meal. The Cajun slaw was nice and creamy by a bit too spicy so it was left. The place is an old house that has been converted into a nice restaurant. It is nicely decorated and has upscale feel but it is lacking. Had high hopes but trying too hard to be something in an area with lots of restaurant choices. No is what I will say when asked if I will return next trip.

The price is very reasonable; this is a place where you could easily throw peanut shells on the floor and no one would bat an eye (disclaimer: there are no free peanuts to nosh or shells to toss). Hudson's has a buffet. We checked it out quickly (looks like it had pulled pork and fried chicken and chicken livers as protein and a lot of cafeteria style sides and desserts). I guess if I were 30 years younger and had a big appetite I might go for that deal. After a short discussion, we ordered platters: two pulled pork, and one rib. My wife ordered chicken salad. When our orders arrived, we counted three pulled pork platters; alas, no ribs. Opps! Once my order hit the table, he couldn't take it back, so he promptly corrected the order and I got the benefit of double meat, i. e., a generous portion of pulled pork and my ribs. Pulled pork was quite tasty, but I think that I have made it just as good or better in a slow cooker. I really did enjoy my ribs. They had just enough meat and a brown sugar, dry rub. They were tender and not dried out, so I'll give Hudson's four stars on the ribs. I think the baked beans were advertised as barbecue, but our friend who had them said they weren't, but still tasted good. The mac in the mac n cheese was not over cooked, and it was quite cheesy, and I was surprised to find a few crispy chunks of cheesy sauce--always a plus! The slaw was fresh and well prepared. This was our first trip to Hudson's and our friends have been there several times but not for years. I have to give them a solid three. As I already mentioned, Hudson's a good-value dining choice; the BBQ is decent, but the sides are not much better than a K & W cafeteria. A great family Smokehouse!
