This company installed a Patio cover for us in 2019. Thay stated that the alumawood material has a Life-Time warranty. Our cover has warped and leaks. When we contacted them and requested someone come out and look at it, we were quoted a cost of $450 just to look at it, and if materials were needed it would be additional. We felt this much for a service call is outrageous and asked for the name of the company that supplied the product so we can contact them. If there is a lifetime warranty, we should be able to get replacement product and do the repair ourselves. They requested pictures, which we did send, and never heard back from them. In our opinion, L.J. Hausner is unreputable and doesn't stand behind their work. read more

A couple of issues that couldn't be fixed but were reconciled by Robert Hausner Tips: 1. When getting a quote ask for a breakdown of what your actually requesting (Ex: fans, electrical, insulated etc...) as they will not break it down for you. 2. When they come to give you a quote they will want you to make a purchase there and then. (In my opinion it can be a good thing for both parties) 3. Workers may clean up, BUT...take it upon yourself to really clean up because shards of metal can be left around your patio/yard that you don't want to step on. There were many left on and inside my pool. 4. Make sure you measure yourself before you sign off on measurements. My patio came out shorter than what I wanted. 5. Make sure workers really understand where you want your fan(s). Once they are up they won't be able to move them (because of the special beam they attach them to). One of my fans is off center to where I requested it. Overall: By no means did I have the experience I wanted but the patio is very nice. Robert is a straight up business man and will respond to you however, don't expect him to be empathetic. Robert brushed off a lot of issues I had but in the end made it right by cutting me a 200.00 check for the above listed issues. Robert I wish I could give you the 5 stars but I can't. Be wary of using this company. I wanted to love this company but the office staff and lack of response is making it difficult. Once the building of the structure is complete they pretty much disappear and will not handle any problems or respond accordingly to these problems. Our partnership started out great, our sales person Brent came out and explained everything even pointed out some safety issues on how/why to mount the patio cover a certain way that other companies did not take into account. Prices were competitive. In the end we felt confident in Brent and his knowledge so we signed the contract for a patio cover with lights and a fan. Install was fine. Days later we heard a lot of loud popping sounds and saw that the aluminum header looked dented in, we texted pictures to Brent who said that shouldn't be and he will refer to the office to get that fixed, great we felt good about this response. This unfortunately is where the good ends. Their customer service is one of the worst I've ever encountered in the service industry. Unfriendly and unhelpful office manager Melissa. Slow to respond to emails/calls and unwillingness to fix problems. Also just downright sheer rudeness when speaking with Melissa on the phone. We had our structure completed in May and within the first week noticed that one of the beams was indented. Again our helpful sales person Brent said they would replace it and the office would be calling to set it up. Now here we are at the end September and this issue is still not resolved, I last called the office on 9/6 and am still waiting on their call back as of today 9/26, unacceptable! At first, in June they blamed it on supply chain issues not having the beam to replace, ok that's fine I will buy that excuse. Then when I called the next month to see where we were at with replacement after not hearing from them for over 1 month I was miraculously told the beam came in and it was scheduled for replacement on a day that we were not home. Despite our reservations with us not being home to supervise we were reassured that we would not need to be there and the beam would be replaced. When we return home later in the day we find the beam is still dented in; when I called the office they stated to me it was replaced but come to find out a few weeks later via email the beam in fact was not replaced because the installer did not appreciate any abnormalities, yet his sole purpose for coming out was to replace the beam but evidently he did not feel this was necessary and instead of calling us and letting us know he just left and no one bothered to update us. If you don't mind blatant lying to your face go ahead and go with this company. At this time we are still trying to find somebody to come out and assess the beam for a second time but again they want to schedule at a time when we aren't home. At this point I have zero confidence in this company's ability to fix this problem nor do I want them doing any more work in the event that something else goes wrong it is an extremely tiring and frustrating process to try to get a hold of somebody who actually knows what is going on the office Or who is willing to fix the problem. We got our cover built January 2021. Mark came out to take the measurements. He told me that the post would be at 17 ft and that the actual cover would go past the post another foot or so. Halfway through the job, we went to look, and it stopped right at the post. I called at least 3-4 times in hopes that maybe it can be fixed before it was completely done. Called again a few months later and still no calls back, now almost a year later I wanted to try again. Finally, Brent returns my call and says his hands are tied and can't really do much. The reason for this review is to give some advice if you do chose this company. My advice is make sure that everything you want is in the contract EVERY DETAIL. I am completely disappointed in response from LJ Hausner construction The project has been leaking since day one and their guarantee for long term has been useless. We have contacted them on several occasions . In fact they say if I leave a Yelp review I'll get a gift card. I bet this review will not warrant a gift card however all we want is our patio to not leak. The areas that are leaking are rusting. It's awful So disappointed and they are leaving us to be in a very difficult situation. This is my second patio cover by LJ Hausner Construction. I loved the first patio cover they built for me about five years ago. They did an exceptional job and it still looks brand new. My patio cover has been the talk of the neighborhood since its installation. Why is my patio the one that stands out from all the others? It's because Ralph Trejo the designer came out, seriously looked at the back of my home, and considered many factors in maximizing what I could do. I had given Ralph my primitive drawing of what I might like. He looked at it and then took a ladder and climbed up to see what kind of support I would have to go up higher than all of my neighbors. He designed a two-tiered cover for me that was 18" higher than what other neighbors had installed. It turned out beyond fabulous. One area of the patio has a solid cover the other is open. The covered area is higher than the other. This was all Ralph's idea. Not knowing what I could do I would have had an ordinary patio just like everyone else, but Ralph will give you options. If you want something extraordinary have Ralph look at your home and listen to his suggestions. I just signed another contract for my second patio and once again Ralph had new ideas based on my high windows. I knew exactly who I was going with for this project based on the stellar job Ralph did last time. If you ask for Ralph, you will have a better design than their competitors. My patio has been in a local magazine twice. I highly recommend LJ Hausner and it has been a pleasure doing business with them They are a first-class company, and they are professional in every aspect. One neighbor came over and saw my patio several months after they had a patio built with another company; they told me they were just heartsick about their patio after they saw mine. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. Our patio cover started leaking after less than 4 years. We reached out thinking this was covered under the "fantastic warranty" our sales guy talked up, but we were surprised to learn water leaks were conveniently not covered. We spoke to Melissa, who informed us they charge $350 to re-seal it. We reluctantly paid, and a technician came to perform the requested work. We got rain a few weeks later, and the re-seal did not help one bit. When I called Melissa to ask what the next step was, she stated that no warranty against future leaks was given, but she would escalate the issue to see if anything could be done. Melissa did not get back to me and completely ignored all follow-up requests. I wish I would have read reviews of similar experiences before wasting our hard earned money. Most of my neighbors used unlicensed contractors and paid less than half of the $7,000 we spent, and their patios are all bone dry. I gladly paid extra for what I thought was a better product, from a reputable company that would stand by their product. How wrong I was... Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Not standing by their product is bad enough, but completely ghosting a customer is unacceptable. read more

So I will break down my 4 star rating of this company. There are very good things about them and then not so good things. Not so good things: 1) They pressure you into signing right away. They do not allow you to obtain any additional competitive pricing from other companies. That is our fault as we had them come out first and decided to go with them. That said, if you are that good and you are the best competitive pricing, you should have no issue with someone getting additional quotes only to find out you are the best pricing out there 2) They only discount if you agree to sign that day AND agree to give them a Yelp review. Essentially what that sounds like to me is, they buy there ratings rather than get them by providing good and quality customer service and by performing great at their craft. 3) The office girls are very rude. They cut you off, they don't listen, they want you off the phone as quickly as possible. The customer service is horrible in the office. 4) They did not complete my job. They missed a piece of steel that I paid for and I had to wait for them to work me in the schedule just to come look at it. The correction has still not been made. 5) They did not have the order or plans correct when the installers came. They were missing steel beams and headers that I paid for per my contact. In addition, the installer who was so very nice, was not on the same page as the engineer so there was some confusion during the install. 6) I had to literally get upset when I told them that I needed to have the install complete by a certain day of the week which was requested 5 weeks in advance and even still, when the office scheduled, they still pushed me out further than I had requested. When I called them to ask for it to be changed, they would only agree if the other customers they had already scheduled ahead of me said it was ok to change. They completely disregarded my 5 week earlier request. THANK YOU to who ever the customer's were that agree to swap days with me whoever you are. 7) No one you speak to can do anything themselves, they always have to go to someone else so you are always waiting for someone to call you. The office has to call the sales person, the sales person has to call the office, the office has to call the installer, the installer has to call the office. It's very annoying that no one can do anything independent of someone else NOR can they just make sure they take ownership of your issue. You have to make several phone calls to get things done. The Good Things: 1) Matt Opson was very friendly, nice and responsive. His customer service is really good. He was very professional in his initial presentation and would call me back within a very reasonable time when I needed assistance. Thanks Matt. 2) The installer team was GREAT. They were very professional, kind and helpful. They were patient in explaining everything to me that needed to be changed from the original plans to what was actually required. They did great work, the patio looks awesome. The confusion did not seem to be coming from their side, it was the side of the office, engineer and the ordering department. They were very good an communicating with me on everything each of the two days they were here. They cleaned up after themselves and left the back yard and patio looking perfect. I believe the head installer was Eric (sorry if I had that wrong) and I would most definitely recommend him and his team. 3) The overall outcome and quality of the product has been good thus far. My cover was almost 900 square feet so a big project and it looks beautiful. I can update this review should that change but so far so good. Obviously the finished product is most important and that I can say was good. Very happy. As I said above, the cover has a missing piece of steel and they are suppose to come out and take care of that. I will update this review should that not go as smooth as it should. If none of the not so good things bother you than I would recommend this company. I would say that if you want to get comparison pricing, get others before you invite this company out for a quote as they will try and box you into signing that day. You will know if they truly are the right company to sign with if you have the other quotes ahead of time. read more
