I tend to always get the Cotton Candy Ice Cream flavor inside of a Waffle Bowl, which is placed on top of a cup! Delicious! Variety | There are a variety of cones to choose from, including waffle cones, waffle bowls, waffle bowls with chocolate and nuts, and so much more! You choose! Inside | Whimsical, colorful and fun! Once you walk in, you're greeted by a black and white checkerboard floor! When you look up, there are colorful parachutes hanging from the ceiling! Few steps even before we walked into Lloyd's of Avalon, the sweet aroma of taffy, chocolate and fruits embrace you as you walk into the store. Our Girl Scout troop enjoyed visiting this sweet and fun candy store. The sweet young ladies working by the chocolate station were also giving our free samples of chocolate and slices of caramel covered apples. Lloyd's of Avalon pretty much offer a variety and selection of the different types of candies, gum and chocolates (brand and manufacturer too). They even carry some of the 80s and 90s candies our circle of friends grew up with. We all had a very nostalgic moment. So I've been to Catalina Island a few times and have never been inside until this visit. This place has just about everything sweet related. I was pleasantly surprised at the items that they sell. Ice cream, toffee, rice Krispy treats, etc. I really enjoyed the huge pretzel and chocolate rice Krispy treat so delicious. The frozen mocha coffee drink was good and gave me energy. I had done some research for the must dos and must tries on Catalina Island, and it seems that Lloyd's is a fan favorite. After perusing Avalon, making my souvenir purchases and sight seeing, I needed a refreshment and pronto. That is when I saw 2 ladies walking with 2 Lloyd's iced coffees and I knew I was headed in the right direction. Lloyd's is the ultimate confectionary shop. They have candy, fudge, ice cream, candy apples, and a variety of beverages. My selection was a peanut caramel apple and an iced white mocha ($16.94). They had super cool flavored candy apples but I'm not about that life lol. I selected my apple and she asked if I would like my apple sliced, "yes, please!". I then walked over to the pick up window for my drink and the barista asked me to try the drink on spot, and asked if I wanted any adjustments. My drink was absolutely perfect, I thanked her and gave her a thumbs up. The service at Lloyd's despite the line, was not only quick and efficient but they also take the time to be nice and provide a great experience. Yummy treats and great service? Avoid like the plague. I got three diff types of candy. All were stale. I went to return the most stale (Jordan almonds) and they instead charged me a second time for the stale almonds instead of refunding. And refused to refund either charges. They pretend the second charge was a refund, even as I showed them the bank statement of the charge. My gfs got a Carmel Apple and the almonds were stale, apple was mealy. Icecream was so good I had to come two days in a row. I ordered the death my chocolate icecream and my boyfriend ordered the mango sorbet. Both were really good. On Thursday, we watched them making their own waffle cones fresh in-store, and you can definitely taste the difference. The cones are warm, crisp, and way better than your average shop-bought ones. The only downside is that they don't offer flavor samples, which made it a little tough to decide what to get especially with so many tempting options. Saw some complaints in the reviews about their customer service but I thought everyone here was super nice and helpful. Before I left the island I figure I'd grab some ice cream and some salt water taffy. Watching the machine in the window pulling the taffy had my mouth watering. Then I get to all the flavors and then the disappointment of all the good flavors being gone. I settle with some of the last few that were left. Then I grabbed some ice cream which was perfect because it was hot on the island and it was a good way to end my last moments there. Checked this place out because apparently Marilyn Monroe used to work here! This store is mainly known for salt water taffy (lots of flavors to choose from) but they also serve other desserts like ice cream and fudge. Ice cream was decent, nothing special. Lloyd's is a Catalina institution. It's been at this location for 85+ years! The salt water taffy pulling machine still mesmerizes visitors, when it's pulling taffy of all different colors. The main attractions at Lloyd's are: the caramel apples (a la mode is the best), ice cream (Dreyer's flavors) and candy (taffy included). I didn't see the taffy machine running this summer when I kept walking past, but It probably was at other times. This desert store sells bulk candy in bags, Mexican candy (which I considered a lovely surprise), fudge, pastries and ice cream. My mom was craving ice cream and I had my eye on the cinnamon roll. So we got them and left and then we tried them and we were sad because we had to throw them away. Cinnamon roll (2/10) - while the portion was big, the bread tasted a little dry and the worst part about it was the icing. It tasted extremely sour, lemon, acidic - reminded me of expired sour cream? that ruined it to be honest. I took two bites of it and then tossed it in the trash. Pistachio ice cream (1/10) - my mom noted that it all tasted very artificial and it melted in less than 5 min despite it being 63 degrees. Visited Lloyds for lattes and pre-brekky the day after the Catalina 50-miler, and it was pretty meh. They were out of several menu items, which happens but is a bit of a bummer. We ordered oatmilk lattes and a cinnamon roll, which was okay but it wasn't the what we came there for. The cinnamon roll is a beauty to photograph, but my wife said that it tasted stale and tossed it after their first bite. The lattes came quickly and were pretty darn average. Such a cute place, and a great selection, but the candy is OLD and they need better quality control. I got fudge and threw it away as soon as I walked out after the first bite. It was super dry and tasted like the plastic wrap it was packaged in, so obviously old. There was no date on it. The taffy was hard as a rock, so also probably old.
