Visiting from out of town and have been craving good Jamaican food. After a thorough search on…read moreYelp, we came across the Jamaican Pot - based on the reviews and photos, we knew we had to give them a try. We ordered a large jerk chicken with oxtail gravy on top, rice and red beans, beef patty and coco bread as well as two sweet potato brownies.... we didn't get photos of those. The beef patty was perfectly flaky and flavorful (not spicy), the coco bread was the perfect texture/sweetness to offsite the spice from the jerk chicken - which we ordered medium spice and although it was just spicy enough for me, it was too spicy for my husband. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the oxtail gravy gave it that extra kick. The cabbage was good too, not bland but not overly seasoned to take away from the chicken. I personally didn't care for the flavor or texture of the brownies, it was more like a soft layer of sweet potato on top on a cake bottom layer - if that makes sense, but my husband loved it. Overall, very pleased with the service, pricing and quality of the food! Definitely recommend and will be taking a plate back on the plane with us :)

I should've looked at the inside pictures more. My bad. :( The woman that runs a shop is sweet and friendly and helpful. She does events for the local kids and veterans. She also has classes for date nights and other events, for anyone that wants to learn how to make pierogi. The pierogi are all frozen, order and pay at the front counter. All orders are bagged. A small sheet of paper to give instructions on how to cook the pierogies in a pan with some butter. Suggested to eat with some sautéed onions and or sour cream for some. I got the chicken pot pie, the mushroom and mozzarella, cheddar, the potato and garlic, sauerkraut and mushroom, sauerkraut and onion. $87.04 The chicken pot pie comes with gravy and some crumbs to put on top. They have 25 different flavors, however, they were out of many and sold out , especof all the extra fellas. We cooked up the pierogi, sautéed some onions, kielbasa, kraut. We ate the potato and mushroom and mozzarella pierogi with the onions, cream cheese or sour cream. Pierogi took about 6-8 minutes on medium heat on the stovetop to brown some. The mushroom wasn't my favorite, as the mushrooms would gush out some water from it, was a rather unexpected experience, not for me. The mushroom and cheese were decent. The kraut and onion and the chicken pot pie fell apart somewhat during the cooking and flipping for us. The potatoes were as expected, not too bad.

Absolutely wonderful food. Pierogis are very tasty and good-sized…read more Recipes are from the owner's Ukrainian grand mother with Polish roots.

The people working here were so friendly and personable with literally everyone that walked in the door. The service was top notch. It is also the most adorable place giving vibes of Lamy's food counter at Henry Ford Museum. I loved all of the options on the menu and it was so hard just picking a couple items to try. We had chicken tacos. They were so good and so fresh, I loved the sauce on top. Honestly, I am not sure if it was cheese or a sour cream type mixture, but it was creamy and flavorful. I also had the torta which was absolutely incredible. It had the same chicken as the taco. The chicken was slow cooked or stewed and shredded and was so flavorful, like a homecooked chef's kiss. The bread was fresh. I loved the sauce poured over it, making it a dipped and soaked sandwich. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. I am open to trying more of their group but I do want to return here. This is one of those diners you would find being profiled for best kept secret or gourmet home cooked foods under the guise of fast food.

When I got to work, I realized they completely left off the lettuce and tomato. Mistakes happen, but how they handled it was an absolute joke. When I called to report the missing items, the girl on the phone told me I had to call back on a different shift. I actually took the time to call back during the next shift, only to be told I had to physically produce and bring the food back. To make matters worse, I could hear the owner or cook yelling in the background, saying I needed to bring the food back into the store. Are you kidding me? I am already at work on the East SideI am not driving back to return a messed-up sandwich. A professional business would have immediately apologized and offered to put free lettuce and tomato on my next sandwich, or simply credited my meal. Instead, I got the runaround, terrible attitude, and a complete lack of accountability. So, the next morning, after calling back receiving that response I drove down a few blocks and went to Nicky D's I will not be spending my money here again.
