    Portobello mushroom tacos
    Athena M.

Had a lovely dinner here! First off, they provide free parking for their guests if enter on the side street. That was fantastic because it was a zoo on Saturday. Had the rustic herb focaccia bread with red pepper butter to start. Got the small portion but immediately regretted not getting the large. That stuff was like crack! Omg drooling just thinking about it again. I had the portobello mushroom tacos which were very smoky which I liked. My only wish is they had cotija cheese or creme fraiche since they were quite spicy. My huband had the scallops on risotto and said they were excellent. All their seafood is fresh and local which you would hope but they confirmed! Key lime pie for dessert was housemade and amazingly limely with a soft, chewy graham crust. Server was lovely and attentive. Would definitely go again!

Vacationing in the area and we were taking a drive along the coast when we found this awesome spot! The best presentation of clam chowder that I've experienced! Big bowl of clam shells stuffed with clams, potatoes, bacon and seasoning. It was amazing and served with grilled sourdough we should have stopped eating. We split the pastrami sandwich and fries! Loved every bite. Matthew was our server and he was appropriately attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Restaurant is on the coast so it had a great ambiance!

Was in town visiting for a wedding and decided to meet up with old friends/wedding guests for a pre-wedding brunch. We had made a reservation thinking it would be tough to get a seat and glad we did for a large party. The restaurant otherwise had some empty tables but was decently busy. The staff was very friendly greeting us and getting us set up with water and beverages as the party trickled in. I was trying to keep it light for the meal and ordered oysters and the caesar and the house bloody. Solid choice for local fare!

Service food and atmosphere are all eclectic and very enjoyable. Creative menu with smoke theme throughout. We liked the high top tables near the kitchen.

Gloucester, MA Great place near the water to enjoy some fish n chips, seafood or grab a bite with a larger group.

Monk fish Burnt ends with green apple celery root slaw. It's an app but eats like a meal

Stylish and friendly place with unique interesting dishes. The type of place that you can talk to whom ever happens to be seated next to you. Thoughtful decor without any pretense. The bar tender John is especially attentive knowledgeable about the menu as well as the proverbial knowing a lot of customers names. On top of it all it's downtown Gloucester right on the waterfront.

Just do it!! Food was incredible. Chef(s) know what they are doing. Staff was a 10. Ambiance was a 10. Beautiful location and everything was top notch. Can't recommend enough. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

Great hummus. Really good, well seasoned, fresh pita, right toppings. The salad was ok... it was a head of romaine lettuce with crumbly bits on top and a slab of chicken on the side... we were wondering why my friend was given a steak knife for a Caesar salad. Nothing else was particularly remarkable. Drinks were good, mixed drinks on the syrupy side. Expensive menu. Service was super slow. We asked a hostess for bread, she said our waitress would be by, 10 minutes later she was only after we asked the hostess again. A different host who sat us stayed and chatted (we were hungry and just wanted to sit) but was in front of one of the chairs so a member of our party was just left standing while she told us about how someone's brother is a "vip"... Not sure if they have takeout but I'd do that instead of dine in.

I love this restaurant so much and I always my friend if we can go here when I visit her in Gloucester. They have so many yummy dishes that it's hard to know where to begin, but the wings, whipped ricotta, mussels and tuna tartare are some of my favorites. The outdoor deck is a great space for summer dining and the staff are super friendly.

Walked in on a whim after visiting Hammond Castle one weekday evening and were surprised to find a nearly empty restaurant given the ambience was so warm and festive. Nice kids menu and a full menu of comfort foods and delicious beverages for the adults. We opted for a beer and an old fashioned. For apps, we went with the tuna tartar, ricotta, and clam chowder. The chowder was some of the best we've ever had, with chunky pieces of bacon, clams still fresh in the shell, and a buttery broth. Tuna tostada was fresh and the perfect amount of spice. The whipped ricotta was tasty, too. One child got the chicken tenders off the kids' menu, which he loved. The fries were nice and crispy and we all fought over them. My other child opted for the Faroe salmon, which he really enjoyed, particularly the spicy barbeque glaze. He shared a few bites with me but given all the apps, I was stuffed. My spouse had a pasta dish and he said it was great. Would absolutely return again. Was the perfect end to an already memorable evening in Gloucester.

Oak to ember. More like a meal to remember! I had a literal life changing meal at oak to ember. This wasn't on the menu but I asked if they could make this for me and it was the best pasta meal I've ever had. The scallops were so tender and delicate with a rich flavor. The sauce on the pasta kept me coming back for me! Would drive 3 hours for this meal again!

The onion rings are low breaded more tempura style and still have some bite left to them, making them easier to eat than ones that have been fried to an inch of their life and come out in one piece from breading that could stand up on its own. These were refreshing in an area where deep fried food can leave you feeling heavy for hours. The bang bang shrimp were delicious, similar battering and frying with a thai chili style sauce. It is not very spicy, but the problem was deciding on what kidn of salad dressing to get with it on a salad. I recommend not getting the salad and just an order of shrimp with ranch. The salad was romaine and parm shavings. No other vegetables to speak of, but the shrimp was phenomenal. Additionally the lobster comes with butter, wet naps and an additional tray for the shell as you work your way t hrough. A nice setup, a nice view, and good food.

At $45 per roll, I want transcendent, fresh, buttery lobster. This was not it. The portions were large and they looked delish but the lobster was chewy and rubbery. The experience was also...not great. Grumpy lady at the register. They've set 18% tip as the default option on the register, which is annoying for serve-yourself counter service. Honestly, it felt like a tourist trap especially with the "as seen on TV" signage for Wicked Tuna near the entrance. As a MA resident, I was a lil embarrassed that I made such a bad choice for my first roll of the Summer.

Nicely portioned, flaky piece of fish with fresh lettuce, tomato and thinly sliced onion. The fries were crisp, hot and salted perfectly. The tartar sauce was predictably if uneventful at best. The fried shrimp and fish n chips were cooked perfectly and portioned well. The ambiance was nice, decor is contemporary nautical, elegant and tasteful. As the crowd gathered, the noise level became unbearable. Couldn't hold a conversation without shouting across our tiny table. Our server was pulling double duty as bartender and handling two tables across from the bar which was unmanageable for one person. Service was slow... like really slow. 120 min for three fried entrees and one app. and we weren't in a rush but it took forever. I felt badly as they could have easily turned this table 2-3 times more than they did. Beer was cold. Ice water was aplenty. Food 7/10. Service was polite and friendly but slow as molasses. They need a full time bartender asap at least for weekend evenings when it's busier. For some added yet unexpected entertainment a rude senior was addressed by the manager for clanging his silverware on a glass for no reason other than to be rude and annoying while trying to get the attention of his server. This caused a bit of a stir because he raised his voice in disdain to being criticized for not acting appropriately. His childish tantrum was handled efficiently by the manager. She admirably suggested he leave the premises which would have been supported by the other patrons. Those present seemed to think an apology by this customer to the server for being disrespectful was in order but that didn't happen. Just an unfortunate event for an already struggling staff trying to shake things out at a newer business. The server didn't deserve this at all. I think they will be fine once all cylinders are firing.
