They aren't skimpy with the amount of lobster they give, which is nice. Overall, I would say that the food definitely satisfied my lobster and french fry craving! The only thing that I would change would be how the fries were cooked. They were pretty overcooked, which just made them crunchier than I would've liked. read more

This was my first time visiting Smorgasburg LA, although I've dined a few times at the adjacent Row DTLA. I had researched the vendors and knew I wanted to try Lobsterdamus, which I did right at the 10 am opening. I think I was their first customer; they were still preparing the lobster dishes to put on display (do those display dishes get thrown out at the end of the day?!). I ordered the half Lobster Nest--grilled lobster over garlic noodles with Cajun butter. They gave me one of those beepers that light up/vibrate when your order's ready. When I went to pick it up, all the dishes were on display and there were more that I'd like to try eventually. Even under the best of circumstances, lobster can be difficult/messy to eat. I had brought my own containers and shopping bag, so I repacked my lobster (plus all the other things I got from other vendors) and took it to my near by hotel. The lobster and noodles were delish. The claw was partially pre-cracked but still needed more effort to get all the precious meat out, so I'm glad I had soap and running water nearby. Plan to return. read more

I came to this stall at Smogasburg in LA, with very high expectations. Basically, they offer 4 core lobster dishes. They are lobster noodles, lobster fries, deep fried lobster and mesquite grilled lobster. For the latter two you can have half or whole lobster, and that too with or without garlic noodles. I chose the whole Lobster Nest, which is mesquite grilled live Maine lobster with cajun butter and garlic noodles. The lobsters are small, but were grilled well. The tails were juicy. The garlic noodles were dry and lacked flavor. When purchasing this lobster dish ($44 plus including tax), I asked if they would crack the claws and they said they were cracked and showed me a dent in each claw. However, this was not sufficient to break open the claw or the knuckles. I saw many patrons suffering to open up the claws, at the possible expense of cutting and hurting themselves. I brought my two lobster claws and arms home and cracked them open with my efficient lobster crackers. Service was hurried. read more

We visited Smorgasburg for a late lunch and stumbled across Lobsterdamus and were pulled in by the lobster nest. We got the lobster nest with half a lobster. The lobster was grilled to perfection and super tender. It's perfect dipped in the garlic butter they give you on the side. Walking around Smorgasburg I saw people eating these plates of lobster with garlic noodles, weather they were sitting on the floor, on the grass, or at some table they managed to find. And anyone walking by was making comments like, "OMG, they have lobster!", or "DAMN, that looks good!", etc. So after finding Lobsterdamus (it's the one with the 30 minute line), I got my order for the lobster nest. Lobster Nest ($36 + tax) - This consisted of a whole lobster (1.25 lb) drizzled with butter and seasoned to perfection on a fiery grill, served on a bed of garlic noodles. The lobster was flavorful and so delicious. The garlic noodles consisted of yakisoba noodles sautéed in garlic confit, soy and lemon. They were perfectly prepared and had a very strong garlic flavor which I really enjoyed. Overall the Lobster Nest at Lobsterdamus tastes phenomenal. The only complaint I have is the price. After tax I'm spending about $40, which is a lot, considering that the food is served on a paper plate and the don't offer a place to sit. My brother took me to Smorgasburg to help satisfy my culinary curiosities. Many offerings available and decided on Lobsterdamus. First the line for the cashier was 5 deep and moved relatively slow. I had the Lobster Fries and he had the Lobster Nest. Both very tasty. The quantity of lobster meat on the fries, ample. So much food in this dish, I ended up leaving some fries behind. A rarity for me not to clean my plate as my mommy taught me growing up. "There are children starving around the world, so you better finish your food." My brother did his dish proud. Definitely delish... Garlic and butter really enhanced the meal. The loss of the star was the time it took to deliver the food. As we watched the grill, the grill master only lit up half the grill despite the line growing as well as the demand for the mesquite grilled lobster. Next time I'm in LA, would do Lobsterdamus again given the opportunity. read more

These guys don't miss (layups or 3-pointers). From lobster fries to a full on lobster split dead center slathered with garlic butter herbs and noodles, they got it all. Catch them at the ever popular "Smorgasburg" in DTLA when the season is right and hop in line (cause there will be one). Fresh lobster on a bed of garlic noodles is my personal favorite and although they still won't tell me their recipes I forgive them. The chefs are talented and it's a great family business with an amazingly positive staff. If you're into fries they'll make a loaded plate that'll change ya life I promise. I came across the Lobsterdamus pop up at the Filled Market in DTLA. Everything gets made right outside under the tent and the smells immediately caught my attention once I walked into the vicinity. My boyfriend and I split the Salt N' Peppa Lobster nest which is a 1lb whole deep fried lobster served with jalapeño garlic oil + ponzo sauce on a bed of garlic noodles. I'm glad we split it because it was a little bit on the pricer side ($37 or so with tax + tip). Even though we ate it right away, some of the fried parts had already started to get soggy. They also do not pre-crack the claws for you or give you crackers, so it was difficult if not impossible to get the meat out of there. The claws are one of the best parts of the lobster so I was a little bummed. The garlic noodles were good and make the dish filling since the main edible piece of the lobster is just the tail. All in all it was good, but a little bit on the pricey side in my opinion. read more

Classic night market vendor. They always have the corner spots. They have the lobster grilling displayed for you to see, pretty cool. Tried their lobster fries, it's about 20 bucks. Don't come with that much lobster. Sauce is nice tho. Sometimes can taste too much like truffle oil. The one item that comes with most lobster is probably the lobster noodle. We ordered the Lobster Nest Half-half order of lobster with garlic noodles for $28 before tax and it explained the reason as to why Lobsterdamus is named Lobsterdamus! While the price tag might seem hefty, the garlic noodles had an apparent garlic taste which I wish every spot serving this could meet. It can get messy eating this especially since you really have to dig, cut, and work to get that lobster meat out, but more of the reason to ask for utensils. As I was about to place my order, someone was informing the caller on the cell phone that they only had 2 left of whatever it was they were wanting to order. I now know that if I want a specific item(s) I should pre-order the items on their website. I was really looking forward to having their lobster garlic noodles. I was highly disappointed that they were already sold out at 1 pm, since the venue ended at 5:00 pm. The lobster okoy was good, but I was expecting more than just one small cube of lobster. Three other people that also ordered it had more pieces of lobster in their okoy. I took a picture of their lobster okoy, because their dish looked better than mine. Their lobster okoy was 5 stars, and mine was just 3 stars. Theirs had more vegetables and lobster. I really liked that their spicy vinegar dip had alot of fresh garlic within it. I will definitely be coming back to this pop-up location on Sundays, because I liked that there were no more than 2 people in line at all of the booths. From what I have read in other reviews at other venues, the line for this place is ridiculously long. Lesson learned, next time I'll pre-order the lobster garlic noodz on their website. read more

Food: 5 stars Wait time: 1 star I just had to try LOBSTERDAMUS and their picture-perfect "Lobster Nest" while I was in LA this past weekend visiting for a few days and spending the grand re-opening and my first time ever at popular outdoor food market called SmorgasburgLA. At $34 a pop, it wasn't a bargain dish, but I justified the price by splitting it with my foodie bestie Steph who I share a food Instagram account with called @2HungryMamas. Also, the mesquite grilled live Maine Lobster had loads of flavorful meat in its claws and it royally sat on top of a generous amount of tasty garlic noodles. Unfortunately, we had a little bit of a bad experience with the wait. It wasn't until Steph asked about our food, after waiting for like 45 minutes, that they finally started preparing our order; otherwise, we probably would still be standing there waiting in vain because they somehow lost our ticket. Stuff happens so it's all good. Thank goodness for Steph's assertiveness though. Otherwise, Lobsterdamus is worth the (regular) wait because they sure know how to cook lobster right and it was a special treat as we don't eat lobster often. This is one big Filipino family operated small business worth supporting and checking out. They also run the neighboring food stall called MANO PO that looked equally yummy as well. We decided to give the half dish of lobster and garlic noodle a try. Price was $28 dollars, which I thought was a bit on the pricer side. The food was only okay, nothing wow me. I would say this are smaller size lobster. The noodles were okay, I needed to pour my entire garlic butter sauce and over everything to get some flavor. A whole lobster split in half looking grilled and juicy served over a bed of garlic noodles. My expectations were set and luckily with many failed attempts on trying to nab this plate I got to try it last night at the 626 Night Market. As you can see from the rating; I was disappointed. We did end up going in the evening when the market started getting super packed which made us decide to opt out of getting the nest, so we settled for the easiest to eat while standing options. Lobster Truffle Fries - ($18) - My biggest thing was the fact that the lobster in both dishes were minced, chopped SUPER finely which practically takes the joy out of eating lobster. I suppose I was hoping to get some chunks of lobster to bite into to taste the "fresh" lobster and not feel like I'm just eating imitation crab meat. For this price tag I could be getting a smaller portion of a lobster poutine with chunks. So.. no. Aside from that major impairing flaw, the lobster itself was extremely salty. Lobster Garlic Noodz - ($14) - This dish had similar issues as the previous one. The yakisoba noodles were bland but super oily, just overall very heavy and not worth the wait in line or the money. I've learned my lesson, IG worthy doesn't mean it actually tastes good. I'm also putting a disclaimer to this review that I'm aware I didn't get the Lobster Nest, but I wouldn't be able to fathom what glorious gods would have been able to save those noodles, period. read more

Probably the longest line at Smorgasburg, but well worth the wait! Lobsterdamus serves up jumbo lobsters with garlic noodles and fries. Heaven on a plate. The lobster itself has a great char flavor from the grill and was pretty tasty. The meat could be juicier, but I wasn't expecting restaurant quality lobster from a vendor from a food market. The lobster also comes with a side of lemon butter sauce, which I gladly smothered over the meat. It was so good that after I finished my first bowl, I went up and got another one immediately.
