You can't go wrong with ordering here, the food is great and the michelada is cold!

This was enough for two and some leftovers for later! The michelada was perfect too. Have gone a few times times and the service has been great.

Fresh oysters, good fish and chips. I haven't been to their San Pedro location but I like this place so far because of the fair price and quality. Busy on the weekends, and fresh oysters available starting on Thursday. Oysters $28/dozen

What else can I say about this place other than it's simply the best? From start to finish, it never disappoints. To kick things off, the micheladas are spot on, refreshing, flavorful, and the perfect complement to a seafood feast. The shrimp fajitas are second to none absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and if you order them peeled, you can dive right in the moment your number is called. Beyond that, their menu offers a fantastic variety of seafood. The Mojarras (fried tilapia) are a must-try, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. And let's not forget the oysters, they're fresh, delicious, and definitely a highlight. A word of advice: arrive right when they open at 12:30. This spot fills up quickly, and before you know it, there's a line out the door. While the space is a bit smaller compared to their former San Pedro location, it's cozy, welcoming, and well lit, with TVs all around so you can catch a game while enjoying your meal. If you're a seafood enthusiast, this place is an absolute must. Great food, great atmosphere, and an experience that keeps you coming back for more.

A local's favorite for seafood! We came here for lunch and got their Seafood Combo platter which was plenty to feed the two of us. They have a small parking lot but if it's filled then you'll have to op for street parking. The inside has an older diner like feel. The service was helpful and nice. The food is super flavorful and is not the most elegant to eat but super tasty. The shrimp was cooked well and had some fish and octopus too. It came with garlic bread that sopped up all the good juices!

Just FYI, if you're looking for San Pedro's fish market fish and shrimp platter look no further! This is the same restaurant just in LA. The food was delicious, just like it was in San Pedro! 10/10 recommend!!

This the same place that used to be in the San Pedro Market/Pier place. I've been eating Alaska seafood since I was a kid with my family. We love their shrimp fajitas and catfish, spicy and non spicy. That's what we always get and have never gone wrong. We did try their lobster once but were disappointed and so why we stick to what we know and have had for decades at this point in my life. They have parking but not a lot. You can sometimes find street parking on Beverly or the side streets. They have changed over the months, on our last visit they started charging for lemons. Not sure why, but it's a little odd, can only assume price. Things are hella expensive in Los Angeles to buy and supply. We like to arrive very early, like opening to have our choice of table/s. The tables have been clean when we have gone so no complaint on that. My problem is the restroom/sink situation. There is only one per gender. And when it's busy and you're eating seafood...hands and faces sometimes get sticky and a napkin will not due. I miss that extra sink they had in San Pedro which was a stand alone for clients to use. But the restroom has always been clean when we've gone to use it. I toon my husband here and his family and they loved it. So I say give it chance, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Authentic fresh fish market style eatery. Order at the counter from wide selection of fresh crab, lobsters still moving, and some huge ass oysters. They also have a fried fish section. Definitely recommend the ceviche. Good selection of beers - including pitchers on tap. They call your ticket number and then you take it back to your table - have big indoor and outdoor picnic size tables - and dig in! Grab a lot of napkins because it will get messy. Friendly service and affordable.

    Angela R.

It doesn't look like much when you're driving by or walking in but it was practically filled when we did! The set up is where you walk up, order, sit down and wait until your name is called. We ordered clam chowder, bread, and a fish and shrimp plate. I would skip all of the above and order something that needs to be freshly done on the spot. I believe it can be done fried, or with some kind of cajun sauce. The tables around us seemingly enjoyed their food. None of the tables you sit at are cleaned by any staff. So, you have to fend for yourself. Whether it's taking some lemons, and napkins to wipe down the table, or simply dusting off the table onto the floor, the option is yours. They have bottled drinks, draft beers, and other bottled beers and some wine. Overall, it was an "ok" experience but I think it's due to what we ordered and what we were expecting.

We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.

They had a couple tables outside that could sit 4 people. We didn't have a reservation but got there about 20 minutes before opening on a Sunday on lunch. They ended up having probably 20 ish people in line by the time they opened. They had Cape Cod and Maine oysters the day we went. We decided not to get any since they were market price and we had other oysters in similar regions before so decided to focus on the other dishes.

People indoors seemed to be receiving their food just fine, but the larger tables outside suffered. For hours. We got pretty much zero communication on what was happening; it took almost 2+ hours to receive any cooked food whatsoever. The raw items came out 15-20 minutes into the meal, which meant that we sat for the majority of the time with no entrees and no updates. Keep in mind that one of the hot items we ordered was the clams and mussels - a steamed dish that was literally dumped into a bowl with a pile of raw garlic and fries on top. The broth had a strong alcohol taste that did not cook off. Super underwhelming and disappointing after the 2 hour wait. Moreover, dishes came out seemingly at random, so our table of 4 people ate at different times, with no coordination (I realize some items are family style here, but sandwiches are clearly not). It's not fun/convivial for everyone when some have already completed their meal, and others have not even taken a first bite of their entrees. Ultimately they did offer to take the bread and one tostada off or our bill. A concession, but by no means an acknowledgment of the unpleasant overall experience. I think we're going to give this place a long break. And maybe only come back on a weekday when they're hopefully less busy.
