Alaska seafood is located in LA and it is one of our favorites when we are craving seafood! We used to go to the location in San Pedro before it closed for construction and then we ended up finding this location which is much closer! Parking can be a bit tough at times because it's always packed! The restaurant has a lot of seating as well as a patio outside! They have a pretty decent size menu and a lot to choose from! When you walk in you wait in line and if you're ordering fish, you can pick out which one you want. After they write up your order, you pay and then they will call your number when it's ready! We normally order the tilapia fish, Camarones enchipotlados, the shrimp tempura plate, garlic bread and steamed rice. There hasn't been one time where I left hungry! They give you good portions and everything is so tasty. The fish is cooked to perfection, the shrimp and the chipotle sauce is to die for and the tempura shrimp are so yummy! I purchased a their, King salmon. Very disappointed with the quality and customer service. The fish was "vacuum packed" with leaky packages and bubbled packaging. Customer service was nonexistent and they wrote nasty things about my dispute. I'm sure that they have good fish, but they didn't send it to me. They have a small parking lot but if it's filled then you'll have to op for street parking. The inside has an older diner like feel. The service was helpful and nice. They don't know the difference between battered and breaded here. All the signage indicates the fish and shrimp is battered, at least the English menus do. It is not. It is breaded, and there is a big difference. To be fair they do label it empanizado also, which means breaded in Spanish. If breaded fish and chips at a reasonable price are your thing, there's are decent. Not too oily, with mediocre fries. When I was a kid, my family would go all the way to San Pedro to eat massive trays of what the vendors called fajitas on the water of the pier. We'd also get mounds of fried calamari or oysters with bowls of siete mares soup and white rice. It was delightful. San Pedro isn't what it was anymore, but I can still get all that food at Alaska in Koreatown, which is, I believe, the current location of that same restaurant that we would frequent in San Pedro years ago. The food still good, and we can still get a whole tilapia fried with crispy skin. And the price is pretty amazing! It's not cheap, but you can't beat the value! Support this place! read more

I have to say I am truly disappointed today. I ordered to go, the food was cold. They made me wait 10 minutes after I got there because if it wasn't ready, how is it that it's cold? They forgot to charge you for the garlic bread the last minute they charged me for it and they gave me one that was sitting up in the shelf. I saw on top of the kitchen. I don't know if it's bad bread but for sure it's cold and overcooked. I usually love coming here, I've been coming here for many many years. I don't think I wanna come again. This the same place that used to be in the San Pedro Market/Pier place. I've been eating Alaska seafood since I was a kid with my family. We love their shrimp fajitas and catfish, spicy and non spicy. That's what we always get and have never gone wrong. We did try their lobster once but were disappointed and so why we stick to what we know and have had for decades at this point in my life. They have parking but not a lot. You can sometimes find street parking on Beverly or the side streets. They have changed over the months, on our last visit they started charging for lemons. Not sure why, but it's a little odd, can only assume price. Things are hella expensive in Los Angeles to buy and supply. We like to arrive very early, like opening to have our choice of table/s. The tables have been clean when we have gone so no complaint on that. My problem is the restroom/sink situation. There is only one per gender. And when it's busy and you're eating seafood...hands and faces sometimes get sticky and a napkin will not due. I miss that extra sink they had in San Pedro which was a stand alone for clients to use. But the restroom has always been clean when we've gone to use it. I toon my husband here and his family and they loved it. So I say give it chance, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

It doesn't look like much when you're driving by or walking in but it was practically filled when we did! The set up is where you walk up, order, sit down and wait until your name is called. We ordered clam chowder, bread, and a fish and shrimp plate. I would skip all of the above and order something that needs to be freshly done on the spot. I believe it can be done fried, or with some kind of cajun sauce. The tables around us seemingly enjoyed their food. None of the tables you sit at are cleaned by any staff. So, you have to fend for yourself. Whether it's taking some lemons, and napkins to wipe down the table, or simply dusting off the table onto the floor, the option is yours. They have bottled drinks, draft beers, and other bottled beers and some wine. Overall, it was an "ok" experience but I think it's due to what we ordered and what we were expecting. read more

I was so excited when they had a restaurant like the ones at San Pedro that was closer to our house to go to. Parking was a bit of a hassle since the lot was pretty small, but my brother was able to score a parking spot around the block. They had outdoor seating in the back and front of the restaurant as well as indoor seating available with bigger tables for larger parties in the other half of the restaurant. They have a big menu visible when you first enter, but also have it broken down above the counter. They only had one person at the time getting orders and one person ringing up the orders at the times. So it took a bit for us to place an order, especially since there was a large party before us ordering. We had ordered a 7 Mares soup, a fried red snapper, 6 fried oysters, a fish plate, a shrimp and fish plate, and fried calamari as well as drinks for each of us that we grabbed from the fridge. We had four order slips between the items that we got for our table and it was a bit hard to understand what numbers were being called depending on which worker was speaking. Our table was overloaded with food by the time we got our orders and my mom and brother ended up also getting onion rings and clam chowder for the table too. I definitely liked how they cooked the red snapper since they had added some seasoning on top. The fish plate was pretty good though I did have to talk to one of the workers to get us our shrimp since it was missing from our fish and shrimp plate and she actually brought it to our table so I didn't have to wait on the side for it. The calamari and oysters were pretty good as well. Was not a big fan of the clam chowder, the onion rings had a bit too much breading for my taste, and the coleslaw tasted bland. Second time I drive through traffic and restaurant is closed despite showing open online

After ordering (party of 2), we waited for about 45 minutes. We asked the cashier and one of the cooks how much longer the wait time would be (other customers were getting their food the same time we ordered). They let us know food's coming up, we show them our ticket number (ticket order system: number side for customers, food order side for cooks). About another 15 min later, turns out.... THEY LOST OUR ORDER 3 cooks had no idea where our order ticket went and didn't want to admit they lost it. LOL Talk about a wasted hour here. We asked for a refund and left. I'm sure this place is great with all the reviews but like damn. Coulda just re-confirmed our order sooner, or drop the ego and admit u lost the ticket. read more

Yesterday I finally decided to go and check it out and it is indeed the same in that was there. WOW!!! I missed that flavor sooo much. I had a very positive dining experience here - the food was delicious and of filling portion size, the menu provides a decent variety of seafood, and there was plenty of parking and seating available. The Tempura Oysters were of quite massive size, and were the cleanest-tasting oysters I've ever consumed. They went down well with the included thin tempura dipping sauce, and also proved to be well-paired with cocktail sauce. I would definitely order them again! The Shrimp Fajita plate hit the spot - we opted for a medium-size plate (the most cost-effective portion, according to my math), which turned out to be massive and easily fed 2 people with plenty left over. I found the mild-level spiciness still a tad hot for my palate, and I ended up regretting not paying the nominal fee to get the shells peeled. The garlic bread that came with the plate was marvelous. P.S. Judging from his conspicuous T-shirt, the friendly gentleman at the register is apparently a SIG Sauer enthusiast.
