The reward for locating Local Break, behind a bike shop, is pretty great. Their "House Burger" is one of the best on the Cape. But they also have a more extensive food and beverage menu that includes a delicious Jerked Turkey over linguine in a light broth. Great casual dining with very friendly servers. read more

I have been to this restaurant twice. Each time there was a minimal wait, but I do have to say we went early each time. Tonight I had the Jerk Salmon, which was on vermicelli with bok choi and coconut milk It was a really nice combo. We had the wings as an appetizer and others had the steak and cheese, flank steak special and kids bacon mac and cheese. The service was friendly and prompt. When you don't know where to get a good meal, rather than tourist fare, I would say give Local Break a try. read more

Local Break is a good place. We each had a burger, and we both liked them very much. My daughter liked her grilled cheese--they even thought to cut off the crust, which was a nice touch. Only complaint was the pear slaw I got as a side--a bit mushy and maybe not what I expected. Service was very friendly, decor is simple and pleasant, and even the family restroom was an unexpected plus and helpful with our kids. A very nice spot. Definitely recommend it. read more

So this restaurant was easily the most satisfying on our entire trip. Let me start off by saying our food was impeccable. The chef who designed the menu, we found out, was sous chef for several years at Twenty-Eight Atlantic (a Chatham resort's restaurant). His talent really shows. The regular menu is great, and we also enjoyed the different specials each day. I ate the crab fricassee with wild picked mushrooms - this meal should have easily cost twice what they charged for it. I tried the drink special which was pretty cool. You've probably read about the $4.50 drafts already. Which brings me to the conundrum this low-key, local favorite spot faces. It wants to be two different things. It wants the 5 star food and the intimate dining experience, and it wants to be an upbeat local watering hole. That would work fine if they had a dining room and the bar. But the restaurant is all one space. So, if you go expecting the fine dining, expect to hear the din of bar patrons having a good time. And maybe that's OK for this place. The wait staff was supremely nice, so I think it made up for any lack of ambiance. I know this new restaurant shows a lot of promise. read more

I wish there was a 3.5 rating. Local break is a really nice local spot. I live right down the road and it's nice to finally have a quick go to. Complaints? Limited menu wish they had some more apps as well as mains. However the stuff they do have on the menu they do well. Great house burger. Hearing from some guys who like to fish that this place has great value, we tried Local Break. We were surprised when we found very good fish and shellfish offerings. And we were pleasantly surprised with great vegan offerings, like the homemade vegetable burger with cooked greens. Not only is the food good, but every diner is obviously welcome, from the sports bar goers to the families and then onto the older crowd. We kept bringing our summer guests here to eat, and they were satisfied, one and all. Local Break is not competing with fancier Cape restaurant offerings, nor does it mean to. For wholesome, tasty food offerings that are reasonably priced, it is one of the best on the Cape. read more

Surprisingly upscale food in this restaurant/bar hidden around the corner, if not for the small red sign at the road and Waze, we'd have missed it. The shrimp po boy with a side of broccoli salad were quite filling for my man's hungry man sized appetite. I had the southern fried chicken with bacon mac and cheese and biscuit and gravy. The boneless chicken was crispy, the gravy was brown and tasty, the bacon mac and cheese was delicious. Our server was very friendly and kept my glass full. Classic rock was playing and wasn't too loud for easy conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I had stopped there for drinks and appetizers after going to the National Cape Cod Seashore. The service were okay. However I had ordered mild buffalo wings and the wings were warmer than mild. I also wish they had a larger draft beer selection. Next time I'm in the general area, I will try another bar / restaurant. read more

This place is fabulous! About time we got a good upscale pub-y kind of place in Eastham. My husband and I went a week or two ago and the food was delicious, drinks excellent, and service spot on. My wife and I spend alot of weekends in Eastham and frequent casual pubs in the area. This is our new favorite place - we like to sit at the bar and the bar there has plenty of seats & a good selection of beers including $2.75 16 oz Gansetts. Menu is limited and can be pricey, I had the $13 house burger but at least it was excellent. Plenty of seating, sports TV & no loud music. The Sat night we were there was a little loud but that was because it was crowded (no surprise there). Definitely give this place a try. read more

Very good pub style food. I ordered the po'boy which was great the chipotle ranch was phenomenal and the shrimp were fried perfectly. Veggie burger was house made, the bun was warm, roasted tomato was okay, and it was a good size. The children's grilled cheese was crust less, outside was crispy and inside was warm and gooey, with an even cheese later. The bacon Mac and cheese was amazing nice and cheesy and gooey but it was the size of a regular meal. The Rosemary potatoes were buttery and salty, the Rosemary was very light and could have used more also could be an entree. Service was polite. Also fries and pickles were super! Went on a Monday night at 6 didn't have to wait for a table at all. Did have to wait about 10 minutes for service and the service was on the slow side for the rest of the night but the food was delicious. I got the po boy which had fried shrimp, tomatoes, lettuce and a garlic sauce and I substituted sweet potato fries. The maple dipping sauce for the fries is amazing, you must try it! Sandwich had good flavor, very satisifing and filling. My boyfriend got the cajun cod fish which came with collard green, peppers, roasted tomatoes, corn and roasted potatoes in a sauce. The fish was very moist and the whole meal had excellent flavor and just the right amount of spice. Would highly recommend and definitely do it again. read more

We got there right before the kitchen closed (930) on a Thursday night. We ordered all the vegetarian items on the menu (veggie burger, black eyed pea & spinach cakes, asian salad)... The veggie burger was perfectly crispy/ moist, the cakes were something new! and tasty, and the asian salad was what you'd expect. read more

Pretty cool spot, kind of hidden in the back of a plaza. Got a burger that was pretty good. They do have a small menu but I'd rather them make 20 decent things than 50 below average ones like a lot of places in the cape. My wife got the po' boy I had a bite.... that was also pretty good. We went there on our last night in the cape, or else we probably would have gone again. They do have a decent beer selection. I went with a 16oz Narragansett can for $2 that was on special. The service seemed fine but it probably depends on who's working that night. Also we went kind of early so it wasn't crowded yet. Started filling up as we were leaving. I'm a local and I eat here all the time. the last 3 times I've eaten here have been horrible. I found hair in my food, have had terrible service. And when I call and ordered food today, they gave me the wrong food. When I called back to get the right order, they told me I ordered wrong and called it the sweet potato pasta instead of the sweet potato linguini. I'm not sure when I'll be back. sorry. read more

Ricks was literally the worst place ever. I absolutely love that this place took over several years ago. Been here at different times of the year and never been disappointed. Their wings have been my go to since they opened and continue to be amazing. Blue cheese buffalo.....I dream of this. Their hot is no joke and this is coming from someone who regularly drinks (yes. Drinks.) hot sauces so if you can't handle the heat don't bother ordering them. From scallops to the po boy, their fried chicken and burgers, I think the only thing I wasn't wild about was their steak and cheese. It shouldn't be served on a bun. This dish, while delicious, needs a real grinder roll or else you just have a massive mess to clean up. Drinks are great, and service at the bar is fantastic. We enjoy seeing our bartenders time and time again especially in a place (the cape) with such high restaurant staff turn over, it's refreshing to have that continuity here. read more

Best bloody mary I've had anywhere! Only open a week or so, Mac, a local guy and the owner, has turned what used to be Rick's ( kinda divey) into great place that I can see will live up to the name "Local" Break. This will be the place everyone wants to be this summer. The menu seems small but at a closer look each dish has an interesting twist that makes you want to try it. And I'd rather have fewer menu items done well that pages of everyday, inconsistant boring fare.I had the grilled romaine salad with baby beets, goat cheese and pecans...delicious! The hub had the fish and chips which was moist and flaky on the inside and nice and crisp on the outside...perfect! The skin-on hand cut fries were also real tasty. We also had a starter of wings with the garlic sauce ( there are lots of choices in sauce from mild to killer) I'd like to buy a jar of the sauce to bring home! I saw they had a flourless chocolate cake and as someone who eats gluten free I was looking forward toit....but i was too full! Oh well, guess I'll just have to go back! Not a problem, there are a lot of other things on that menu I want to try...not to mention that cucumber collins cocktail! A mix of ages when we were there, but I can see that a late night younger crowd will enjoy having a place to hang out that stays open late, that isn't a dive! First time to Local Break after sunset fun at Nauset Lighthouse Beach. What a great find. Kate was a very friendly server. Food was very good: cheese steak, sweet potato fries, clam chowder, and baby green salad. All was excellent. Chowder cost $9 and I was surprised how much I got for that price.
