First time trying this place. Walked in and was welcomed by a very genuine and kind young man. Our waitress was wonderfully friendly and attentive. Based on the location, I was expecting normal bar / American food, but I was wrong. The menu was descriptive and broad. Not the cheapest place I've ever been, but well priced for the offering. The special hot chicken sandwich was delicious! The sweet potato fries were perfectly done; crispy outside, hot, and not soggy! The seasonal salad with shrimp was perfectly balanced with greens, nuts, and cheese. So delicious! Ended up meeting the chef/cook Orlando. Great guy! And an even better chef! As much as I love the Cape, you gotta admit that not much changes 'round those parts. You've got your Arnolds, you've got your Beachcomber (the best), you've got your Sir Cricket's. You have all the fried fish you need. Sometimes, your need isn't that great. Sometimes you want a real meal with a real feel that doesn't scream "tourist!" Local Break is your place. Located in the same area as Nauset Ice Cream, a liquor store, and a random Thai place, Local Break is a bit hidden from Route 6, but I like it that way. Service was friendly and accommodating. All Cape Cod drafts are unique and fairly priced at $4.50, and you can taste as many as you'd like. Decor is casual and rustic, with roomy booths and checkered table cloths alongside high tops and bar seating. The food was awesome. The classic cheese burger was the first burger I've ordered from a restaurant in a year in a half. More medium-well than the medium I ordered, but still juicy and flavorful. The pickles are homemade! Chicken wings in red garlic sauce were insanely tender. Get them. Mexican street corn was messy and delicious. Local Break just opened two months ago and the place was decently busy. Disappointing. I had the tagliatelle alla bolagnese. Seemed like they warmed up yesterday's leftovers. Noodles were soggy and stuck together. Sauce was already on the noodles when warmed up. Mom had clam chowder which was ok and shrimp appetizer which was ok. Everything was just ok. Nothing like the pictures on their website which is what brought me in. Too bad. Me and a few friends were biking from Hyannis to P-town over a weekend. Day 2 we stayed in Eastham and found Local Break because it was listed as Vegetarian and had some decent beer choices. Overall Local Break was pretty solid. Our waiter was great, greeting us "I bet this is the most fun you've had on a Saturday night, right?" and generally had some good jokes. The beer selection was good (too many stouts, it's summer and I have been sweating all day!) and the food was pretty solid. I had a veggie burger and fries, the price was right, it was tasty and came with beet chips on top... nicely done on the beet chips. The bun was buttery, seemed home-made and more noteable than the patty. Meat eating friends had the house burger, which they seemed to like. I feel like it had bacon infused mayo or something? If I were a meat-eater I am sure that would have gotten me all hot and bothered. If you're on the cape and aren't going for Lobster or Fried Clams, give this place a shot. read more

Local Break was a fantastic surprise. We tried to go to a couple places Sunday of Labor Day weekend and they all had long waits. This was our third choice but had open tables. I couldn't be happier with that on hindsight. The service was exceptional. The lady is a servers nightmare, emptying her water faster than a camel returning from Giza, but Raimi kept our glasses full without question. Her plate clearing and checkins were prompt but not bothersome. They even plated our split plate separately down to the sauce with the sweet potato fries without asking We ordered the wings with garlic buffalo sauce, tacos, and house burger. The wings were incredible, crispy and tender to perfection. Normally I have to ask for extra crispy to get that. The sauce was like crack. I'm glad we asked for extra on the side. I wanted to bathe in it but didn't out of fear of wasting it. The tacos were very good with extremely tender short rib, but I would've rather skipped em for more wings. We got the sweet potato fries with the burger. The Cajun maple sauce was just ok. Maybe that was because not even my tingling mouth could stop me from dousing the fries in the garlic buffalo sauce. The burger was awesome. The only complaint was that it was too good to justify dunking in the sauce. Part of me hoped for mediocrity. Stop in this place. Get the garlic wings. read more

Only open three days, this new casual bar and restaurant is already popular with locals eager to try out a new menu. The gazpacho starter was excellent, with more elements than the rather plain menu description. The potato pancakes were a little too soft, needed more crust for contrast. The hot dogs were also good, but left me wishing for a crisp grilled bun to live up to the flavorful dog. Crab and mushroom fricassee was not something I expected to see here--it was surprisingly good however, full of flavor. Service was attentive. We will be returning to try the rest of the dishes and see how the rating stands up with more experience and the crowds of summer. read more

Local Break is a welcome addition on the way to the end of the Cape. The atmosphere is casual with a bar and a lot of tables. Unlike many places on the Cape, there seems to usually be a decent crowd in this place. The food is good pub style fare. Hearty burgers and fries. Wings done right. They also have items somewhat different than the typical Cape Cod or pub menu. Poor seating in here there are 5 tables a couple of booths or sit on a barstool! So loud we couldn't talk at the table. Very limited menu seems to be a bar and sandwich shop. Extra star for offering WIFI . Stay with the sandwiches everyone seem to say they were good I had a rib special that was edible but disappointing. read more

I've been to Local Break once for cocktails and apps and picked up take out another. Their drinks are really good. Cucumber infused gin? Yes please. The Thom Cucumber Collins is incredible. Their wings were delicious, though we sort of went middle of the road for spicy and I could have used more heat. The atmosphere is laid back, the bartenders are super nice and knowledgable. For my take out experience, I went with the veggie burger. Very good. The sauce it was served with was especially good. Sort of like a fancy sauce with horseradish. Delicious. Ordered sweet potato fries on the side, also very good. Tasty, fresh and not not at all soggy (pretty impressive for take out). Also, the bartender recognized me when I went in to pick up my food, even though I'd only been there once. Great neighborhood stop, I would definitely recommend. read more

Drinks: was looking forward to the poblano/jalapeño margarita but they were out of the nectar tonight, will have to try it next time Appetizers: clam chowder (generous helping and not too creamy with lots of clam meat), wings (the red garlic the sauce is unreal, we got them hot), smoked romaine was refreshing, swordfish belly was very good esp the dressing. Entrees: we split the 3 fish entrees - the halibut, tuna, and salmon. They were all phenomenal. They came with black quinoa, sticky rice and wasabi soy sauce, and coconut sticky rice red curry & carrot purée, respectively. Can't decide on a favorite between the salmon and the tuna, those two probably beat the halibut. Dessert: coffee was okay but a bit watery, flourless chocolate cake was a flop- honestly not good, vanilla bean cheesecake was GREAT but I would've liked more blueberry topping. Super super friendly service (the waiter brought out the cook to talk to my son about a football team they both like). Accommodated our group of 7 quickly. The Shrimp Po' Boy was overstuffed and excellent. The House Burger was so fresh and tasty I was talking about it all night. Steak and cheese was just okay - on the smaller side and not enough meat. Great local craft beer menu. This place is slightly higher priced than other places in the area but the food, service and atmosphere would make me come back. This is one of our favorite places. We miss Zach who was always friendly and very efficient, but the rest of the staff is also attentive and friendly. I'm not a fries girl, but I must say this place has the best fries I have ever had. I recently got a hot chicken sandwich. It was spicy, sweet, crunchy, smooth and one of the best things I have ever eaten. Love the po boys sandwiches and their fabulous burgers. My husband had a cajun soup that looked like any soup, but when I tasted away, I was blown away at the intense flavor of the broth. Cocktails are also great and there's a variety of seating outdoors. Local break has only been around for a little over a month and is one of the best places I've been to on cape. The food menu is really unique and everything I've tried is DELICIOUS. Veggie burger may be the best I've ever had!! I agree that the drink to get is the Cucumber Thom Collins, could drink them all day, but it has a variety of beers and mixed drinks so anyone could find something that they like. Besides the food being amazing, the atmosphere at Local Break is something you would find in downtown Boston. The staff is great, not to mention the owner has been behind the bar every single time I've gone and he's awesome. Friendly and willing to deal with me and my friends' obnoxious questions about the how he makes the Thom Collins or how he chose the items on the menu. And he doesn't seem to judge the fact that we were drinking at 3: 30 in the afternoon or he just hides it well. I hope this place gets the recognition it deserves. People that are looking for great food at good prices will find it here!! read more
