Both business locations have been rock solid service and knowledge. They are honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and diligent about repairing your vehicles. I have brought 3 different vehicles in total to this local for service and have always been BEYOND satisfied with their mechanical service and customer service. When I bought my diesel truck I was worried about finding a good reputable diesel shop but quickly realized this shop handled my truck without an issue. ASE CERTIFIED business, which meant I was able to get extended warranty repairs done here QUICKLY in comparison to a dealership. The service technician, John, set up a rental car for me through my warranty company which was a time consuming process but he did it without a complaint. I've been over the moon happy with spending my hard earned money with this shop and business. I should note that I brought my truck to the McDowell/Corona location to install privately purchase heavy duty upgraded steering parts on my RAM and they knocked it out the park. I called this auto repair and spoke to a fairly new employee. I told him I needed a new alternator and battery, he quoted me about this job and added a few things and gave me a price of $2,300 to repair my car. My car was serviced and repaired and when we paid for our service it was $5,400. I was in shock I could not believe it was more than twice the amount. I have been back and forth to this shop four times with no success my car is not running right I go without a car now and incur the cost of a rental until they figure out this problem I looked at my invoice and there are things that were done to my car that weren't even discussed. I will never recommend this shop to anyone I'm hoping I don't need to take them to court after this employee did nothing but make things worse read more

I live nearby and messed up my bumper on day of course when I was running late and hit my stupid fence. I went to Local Heroes and was so lucky! Fred looked at my bumper and said that car bumpers have a memory and it will want to pop out, so try to heat it up by parking in the sun. I came back 6 hrs later after leaving it facing the sun and he jacked it up and used a stick and block to pop it back out! And did a quick fix for me. He didn't charge me anything and was so kind and helpful! Will definitely be back. So happy to have a kind mechanic close by. read more

So in my update, I received my car 2 weeks ago. This place states I threw a rod. Report says rod snapped. Well, low and behold the day I get it back, I drop my endoscope down cylinder 1 and the rod is intact. Found multiple other problems with the report that contradicts them. read more

"Is a Test that is used on Electrical problems on cars when needed." WRONG!!! According to the article that he shared himself: "As most of us know [!], its purpose is to set a limit for the voltage present on a plug face when disconnected from mains power" In other words, it is to prevent an unsuspecting person from getting a shock from the contacts of a power plug right after unplugged from the power outlet. This is not even a diagnostic for electric problems in the product, it is just a safety test to allow certification of the product and normally is only performed in a specialized lab. The car was not a plug-in electric, it was a Jeep Commander! If you cannot differentiate a Jeep from a Nissan Leaf or a Tesla you need to find another business. Stop shaming yourself with this trolling because it is getting worse and worse for you and admit your error. read more

I had my tires replaced on my car and when I was finished getting the service done, Local Heroes printed out a list of things I needed to get done to my car. About a month prior I had gotten my car serviced at the dealer ship and had everything checked over on my car. The list that local heroes gave me told me I needed to replace a bunch of things on my car that I had just gotten serviced. The bill that Local heroes estimated for all the work they claimed i needed to be done equaled over $1300. I called them out on this and they had nothing to say. Personally I feel that they were trying to charge me for a bunch of work that didn't need to be done. Maybe it's because I'm a girl they thought they could get over on me or maybe not. Either way they were trying to double charge me on work I had just got done. Not impressed with this place and I will never go back again. read more

It was July 3rd at 1pm. Another shop in town said we had to remove the head to fix the marred spark plug threads on 2 of our 8 plugs. They quoted us $4,000 and wouldn't be able to get us our rig for a few days. We were 180 miles from home and one day from checkout at our beach campsite. Local heroes helped us set up a tow to their shop and the owner Fred personally repaired our bad threads working until after 5pm the day before the 4th of July for $284. We are so glad we found them, they didn't sell us a big scam even when we were at their mercy, just fixed what needed fixing. Terrible experience! First, the place is filthy. It's a garage, I get it, but even the dump keeps their facility clean. The customer waiting area is a joke. When I brought my auto in, I was told a price and time from of when it would be done. The repair took triple the amount of time and this was paired with a bill that was triple of the original estimate!!! I called many times during the weeks of repair time to find out what the hold up was. Many calls/emails were left unanswered. When the auto was returned to me I found many issues still lingered and they acknowledge them apathetically with zero reaction. They did however, present a bill that was 3 times the original estimate. Frustrated by not having my auto for weeks, poor communication, a car that still had unrepaired issues, and inflated invoice, I promised to never go back. They were great they did my smog, which passed, and let me know that there were a few things that needed to be taken care of. I'm struggling with having my truck redone by these guys. Seriously doubting the capabilities and over quality when/if job is complete. I brought it to them in November now halfway thru March. I was told The turbo wouldn't take long because it was coming from Reno. 4 weeks later while just stopping in no call no update After I have continuously stressed That communication is important and that I need my truck back. The turbo still hasn't arrived this also happened with the header also and I had a brand new turbo somehow the turbo I have won't work with the header he ordered. In order to move the project along I didn't complain about the fact he basically ruined my turbo. I allowed the ordering of a new one. Not to mention all of my intercooler piping and radiator were laying on debris in the bed of the truck that was clean when I had it dropped off. I honestly don't know what to do. I am completely frustrated and just wish for proper business to be conducted on my behalf . read more

Con artist of the highest order I am completely flabbergasted at the poor quality and the degree of which they took advantage of me broken timing chain on a big block Chevy went there to have the repairs looked at to see where we're at how to repair the engine down they got the engine to wear down and then instead of telling me it would be a good idea to do a complete rebuild of the engine due to all the metal shavings and pieces of metal down inside the engine they called me to talk about upgrading the camshaft needless to say after all the repairs were done 4000 and 3000 in parts I get the truck home to see the parts that they removed off my car the old timing chain I was amazed at the Damage Done To That timing chain and I couldn't believe that they would let me go ahead moving forward with rebuilding to complete the tire top end of the Truck Engine so insulate alarmed by what I discovered I did an oil change only to find what I thought I was going to find metal shavings metal fragments as in many anybody who knows anything about engines would know that that is grounds to rebuild an engine I'm still trying to get a hold of management to ask him how this could happen at what point is it okay to charge somebody this much money for an engine in this condition I'm going to present the pieces of metal that I was able to string out of the oil that I took out of my truck after they had been running it test driving it knowing the whole time this engine is not going to last very long the amount of money I paid for the repairs I could have easily got a 0 mile replacement engine put in there the only reason I did not do these repairs to the engine myself it's not because of lack of know how it's because where I live I'm renter and I'm not allowed to work on any vehicles in front or at my house and I had I been a Joe Blow that doesn't know too much about engines that totally relies on the mechanics word and Trust what their recommendations are I would have never known any different but like I said in the beginning of this post I've never been screwed like this my entire life still waiting for management to get ahold of me and I will update on what the outcome of this is I think about going to court and showing these people because it's blatantly blatant rip-off of the highest order and on top of all the Shady repairs done in my truck they put $750 worth of unauthorised parts after I told him not to replace those parts these people have a poor trading with the business Better Business Bureau poor ratings on multiple levels of social media look into it before you bring your vehicle to these people especially the one on Bodega Avenue read more

As a service company located in Petaluma we need an honest reliable mechanic to keep our fleet on the road. Local Heroes auto repair has done an outstanding job servicing our fleet. They have gone above and beyond working on Saturday and Sunday to make sure our trucks are back on the road. We always receive a prompt service and a fair quote. We have never received a bill above the estimate they provided. As for the two negative reviews they received, our experience has been the exact opposite. I needed new front brake pads. While I normally go to Bay Bridge Garage around the block.I learned they're closing and I was referred here. Being out on Bodega they made it convenient by offering to drop me home and pick me up when it was done. I mentioned it to a friend later who knows mechanics, that I had paid $280.00, and they said it was too much ~ that you should be able to get a complete set of the actual brakes for that. I was aware going in that I was likely going to pay more, but wanted it done that day and did it for the sake of convenience. I had to be assertive in stating that I didn't want more services, even "free" ones. They are obviously trying to build up a new customer base and pushed hard to perform a complete inspection in order to review for more repairs. They also asked several times for me to join the database and provide my email to be registered so I could access an on line account at any time, for "my convenience". Having declined it once, they asked again a few more times. I didn't agree to register as a new regular customer, for several reasons, which aren't negative on them, but important to me. First is the degree of sales push/commission focus and what I call the "handshake factor, a gut sense from the person you are dealing with, which very often is right on the mark. Because I know so little about cars It was clear to me I would need to be very protective to avoid run ups and also being offered or recommended more services, which just isn't my thing. read more

Terrible. Debbie at front desk is great but that's about it. I ordered tires for my Pilot and they were installed by these guys. We were experiencing huge vibration after we got the car back. I emailed Debbie several times but heard nothing back. We gave up and took car to Wheel Works and they stated 1tire was okay on balance but the other was WAY off. Just called and spoke to new manager at Local and he stated that Deb no longer works at that location and if I had prob again to call. Told him that I didn't think there would be a next time. Sounds like they may have gone cheap and added stick on weights instead of clip ons. Apologized for the inconvenience but didn't offer any suggestions on how to make it right. Had to spend $30 to get my tires balanced correctly! I'll be going elsewhere next time unless they want to try to make things good. Thanks Wheel Works. read more

He misdiagnosed my repair needs, as I found out by taking it to another mechanic after he didn't return my numerous calls or even give me a quote. Didn't seem like he wanted the work, and I'm glad I took it elsewhere. I have a feeling it would be in pieces in his shop still, and I also know it wouldn't have fixed the problem now. The other repair that I did have him do, failed after a week, so my car was back to the same condition as when I brought it in, yet he got hundreds of dollars from me. He never even called me back after I left him messages about it failing. When I was in the shop, he was upset that another customer said he broke something that he claimed he didn't even touch. I'm seeing a pattern here, and you should too, if you value your hard earned money. read more

Fred and Melissa were so helpful on a recent trip. On our way up the coast an engine light came on and our car started to lose power. Although they were busy and close to closing, they diagnosed the problem quickly and gave us a short term solution as well as advice for a definitive fix. I only trust the folks over at Local Heroes with my vehicles. They are VERY accommodating, respectful, caring, and genuine. I don't know about you, but I typically HATE the mechanic. Whenever I have to go to the mechanic, it's never for a good reason. But I have no problem taking my truck to Local Heroes. They turn a typically very stressful situation into an easy-going, "don't worry about it, we'll handle it" situation. Recently, I dropped my truck off for a new catalytic converter and a few other touch-up's. I wasn't expecting my truck back for at least a few days. The very next day, I got a call that it was ready for me. Local Heroes is very fast with their projects, and they do an excellent job. I wouldn't go anywhere else! Fred Blue took our Camaro in for restoration and face lift over 3 years ago. It is still in pieces both at his Local Hero shop and at his home. We have given him a deposit ( $ 5,000.00 ) with an agreement that he would complete the job in a timely fashion. He has not and has been giving us excuses and has stalled on the work for the last two years. After pleading with him and asking him how to get the fire lit under him we still have no car and he refuses to give us an estimate of when the car will be finished. The first estimate of completion was 8/09. Then 10/09 and then 1/10 and then 4/11. As of today he still has no idea when the work will be completed. It is very frustrating and we are out money and our livelyhood has been compromised due to the lack of professionalism on Fred's part. Consider all other options before taking your vehicle to Fred! You chance having it taken apart never to be put back together again! read more
