Very mediocre experience. We went during lunch and were one of two tables occupied in the entire restaurant. we both ordered a ceasar salad as our meal which took over an hour to be delivered to our table. The server's excuse was that the chicken breast needed to be cooked fresh. It does not take an hour to cool one chicken breast.... the entire hour we waited for our food, we never once saw our server. Salads were ok, I've had better. For two salads in an empty restaurant, I do not understand why the service was so bad and the food so slow. The restaurant's decor is super cute though.... read more

This place is super cute. Stopped by on a whim for our 13th wedding anniversary. When we arrived at 5:45 pm, the hostess was a lil' wonky? The place was practically empty, yet she behaved as though there were no tables, like stressed AF? She then started talking about a 7 "rez" and wasn't sure if she could seat us? She commented to us about "lounging around." I was annoyed and told her we were looking for a nice dinner and promised to leave as soon as we ate (this was the third restaurant we walked into in the area). She laughed and said we could stay for as long as we want??? She walked us to the right and front of the restaurant where we were seated next to a "private room" (curtains no walls). Oddly she then walked into a pillar... Anyways, we ordered food and drinks, stayed till 6:45 ish and left. Small menu but good food and eats. We ordered the half chicken and risotto with shrimp, and then shared the almond coconut cake for dessert. Will we go back? Nah. read more

I am very very picky and she always had a smile and made sure my order was what I had asked for. My experience was so lovely that I went back the next day! I'm not sure why some people are saying this place has good food because it doesn't. I asked a couple different servers about the drink menu as well as the food menu and they seemed unfamiliar with both. We ordered the mussels and almost half of them were empty shells. The caesar salad was drenched in dressing and the pasta dish was thick with an overwhelming sharp white cheddar cheese sauce. Very disappointing. read more

I went to Local Jones recently and it was decent. Having everything open air made me feel better about sitting inside the bar area because there was still good air circulation. The first thing I noticed was how cute the bar was. I love the aesthetic of the space- very modern but comfortable with neutral tones and pops of color, lush furniture and gold accents and good lighting. At the table, the chairs were comfortable but i didn't love that the wood of the table made spots uneven- I almost spilled my water several time because I would set it down on a knot or bump in the table. I was a little confused by their menu. Just by the way it was even setup with Mains listed first then starters off to the side and the saying "a taste of cowboy life" didn't make sense to me. I get that there are ribs and trout and steak but it just didn't seem to exactly fit. The cocktails were good- I had the confluence and it was quite tasty. A friend of mine had one of their spirit free drinks and enjoyed it as well. We had mostly starters including the beet hummus, the broiled shrimp, roasted octopus, beef tartar and chrispy potatoes. The chrispy potatoes were very smoky but not much flavor otherwise and were the least favorite of the group. The shrimp was good but I was a little thrown off by the presentation as it was a big bowl with a little bit of diced shrimp in the bottom with some crusty bread on the side. The bread was the best part of that dish as it was charred and soft yet crunchy with some great flavor. The octopus was really good and I loved the puttanesca sauce it was served with- I dipped the bread from the shrimp in that and it was excellent. The beet hummus had a great amount of flavor, was beautifully presented and was enjoyed by all. Oh and the beef tartar was great too, loved that it was served with big potato chips. Besides the starters we had the Enchiladas. They're called green chili and cheese Enchiladas but they also have pork in them which made them much heartier and more filling. We ordered two for the table and each order came with 3 Enchiladas which was perfect for our group of 6. The Enchiladas were mt favorite part of the meal- they were cheesy and had the right balance of salt and acid from the green chili and lime crema. Overall we enjoyed everything but didn't feel that the quality totally matched up with the price point. It wasn't a cheap dinner by any means and I am understanding we were in Cherry Creek but for what we paid, everything was good, just not exceptional in any way. read more

This was a beyond disappointing experience, we went for a friend's birthday. The waitress spilled drinks on the birthday girls lap it took two hours to get our food and the manager blamed the spill on my friend! A second person from our party had hot sauce dumped in her lap and then all over her Jacket. The manager tried blame the spills on our group then threatens to call the police. Our food was two hours delayed and was sub par. Would not recommend. read more

6 of us had dinner on a Friday night at Local Jones. It's a really good looking place, with a good energy. We were seated in a somewhat private room with curtains separating it from the main dining room. We didn't draw them closed, but the room was just a bit quieter than the main dining room and that made talking much easier. Loved it! The cocktail selection was good, although I found the same drink to be different from round one to round two. The food was terrific. We had some very good starters (crab artichoke beignets, beet hummus, daily bread), then just two mains between us (crispy salmon, and strip steak). For dessert we shared an orange creamsicle and an almond joy---both "smallish," but also delicious. The service was adequate (server didn't have much personality, forgot stuff, in a hurry to close us out---came back from signed receipts, never to be seen again), but not the restaurant's strong suit. Probably due to staffing shortages and compromises that must be made. After dinner a few of us stayed for another drink in the bar area. It took a while to get a server's attention. The tables next to us were never bused the whole time we were there. The room lights were turned up at 10 pm, which seemed awfully early for a Friday. They have valet parking, which made life a lot easier. We'd definitely go back with lower service expectations, unfortunately. read more

Disappointed- we came for Brunch on Saturday we had a reservation but had arrived 20 minutes early, the restaurant was about 1/3 full but the hostess said we can't seat you before your reservation if you come early it's a 30 minute wait, what ? We asked if we could sit at the bar, ordered coffee and before it was served she came to seat us in a high traffic area right next to another couple despite more than 75% of the restaurant was empty. Food was meh, not great - our sever was attentive. Why put on big airs I don't understand this type of attitude in Denver, plus by the time we left the restaurant was bare. I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant twice while staying at the Halcyon Hotel. Once just to have dessert and once for dinner. I wish I would have taken pictures the food looked and tasted phenomenal. I decided to try foods for dinner that I have never had before and I am really glad I did. Starting with appetizers I had the Beet Humus it was delicious. I also had the Hamachi Ceviche. Never ever would I have tried this had I known what it was but I am so glad I did. Wow that chef knows what he is doing. For dinner I had the Halabit. I am not a person who would normally choose to have fish but it was soo good. Not real fishy tasting. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very accommodating and we even had Charlie and the chef himself stop by our table to see if we were satisfied with our food. Everyone is so kind. I will be sure to go there again if I get back to Denver. read more

I booked the Local Jones' Elevated Winter Experience our anniversary dinner. It was a rooftop "winter cabana" on the Halcyon Hotel's rooftop. First the good, the food was really good with a definite focus on farm-fresh seasonal ingredients. The cabana looked really great though just a personal preference, I would have preferred it without the super bright neon sign inside the tent. The not so good, several cabanas were right next to the pool which for about an hour of our dinner was being used by families with screaming children. Certainly no fault of the families because that's what a pool is meant for but not conducive to a romantic ambiance. Also the seating wasn't particularly comfortable. There were only two of us so we shared the patio bench but we both acknowledged with a party of four, I wouldn't want to be relegated to the wood, slat-back outdoor chairs. Yes, they have blankets, an electric fireplace and a heater but the latter two hardly gave off any heat and the generator was out for part of our meal. Luckily it was upper 30's that night and with our coats and a blanket we were somewhat warm. If the weather had been below freezing, I don't think it would have been comfortable. My final complaint (for which we do bear some responsibility) was that the staff didn't tell us that gratuity was included in the bill. I booked the reservation and my husband didn't know how much the dinner was and he paid. It wasn't until the next day when I glanced at the receipt and balked at the cost because it was significantly more than I expected. That's when he realized he tipped generously on top of their included gratuity. I have no issue with a big tip as long as I know up front I'm giving it. read more

Decided to go here for brunch after a long week of work at a restaurant downtown. Anyway, made a reservation for me and my wife at 1130. Arrived on time and was first noticed by a very overwhelmed host. He was kind but very flustered. After a few minutes of trying to figure out we're to put us. He sat us literally right next to him at a table. After, we were given a few menus and decided to go with espresso martinis and green juice. After waiting about 10 mins, we were told that they were out of green juice but are martinis would be there shortly. They were are were decent. We then ordered are entrees, I got the French omelette and my wife got the basic breakfast. We then waited.... And waited. The table next to us, who sat about 10 mins after us, received there more complex food before us. Immediately after they recievws there food, the manager came over to our table and mentioned my wife bread option wasn't absolve and to select another. No big deal, she choose white bread, meanwhile our drinks were finished , so we ordered screwdrivers. They arrived promptly. Waiting another 20 mins, we got a little over the wait. I handed my card to the host, being directly behind us and told him to just close us out and that the food was no longer necessary. Of course, the food begins to arrive and we mentioned to the expo that we no longer were interested. Here's where I get a little frustrated. The manager walks over, as he should, and start making some odd excuses about a gas outage or something completely outrageous. I work in restaurants, I get it, but don't tel me you guys can't get food out timely when the table next to us had no problem at all. Own up to it. Don't make excuses, that's tacky. Server was great and understanding. I'll try you guys again, but honestly, stop with the excuses and own up to mistakes. read more

Did not come close to meeting expectations. They are located in Cherry Creek but has the feel of a chain restaurant. Interior is poorly laid out and ambience is impacted as a result. Food was average at best -- starter was small, salad was tasteless and entree was adequate. Multiple people came in and left after seeing the layout. To add to the experience, a group of men were kicked out for being unruly and we're comped their drinks but the people who were impacted got a "sorry about that." We were able to get a reservation on Saturday afternoon for that night and now I know why. read more

I was extremely disappointed when I cut into my Green Chili Breakfast Burrito and no green chili could be found. Thankfully I pointed this out and asked for a side of the green chili. I was informed that the green chili was in the pork, but again there was no pork that I could see. Once I was 3/4 finished, I saw the pulled pork hiding at the end the burrito. My friends who I was with ordered the Wedge Salad with Shrimp and the French Omelette. Crossed this place of the list today. I have tried to like it for a couple of years but today I'm tapping out. The hostesses are consistently rude. We have always had reservations but I have seen them treat people who don't have reservations poorly. Get over yourselves. This isn't New York City and you're not a five-star restaurant. The food continues to be mediocre at best and today my omelette had enough salt to choke a horse. The waitress didn't even check back with us so nobody got drink refills. Last time I was there about a month ago it was no better. In fact, we had a reservation for the lounge and when we got there they said that we couldn't sit in the lounge because they had a large party coming in. Well, the large party never came. This place is getting by because of its great location. Just remember Local Jones- there was a restaurant in that space before you and I'm pretty sure there will be another one after you. read more

Nothing worse than holding off on eating most of the day, spending almost $300.00 on a dinner for three, and leaving the restaurant virtually as hungry as before you sat down to eat during restaurant week. So irritating going to get food after the dinner to fill up the tank. Yes, the food tasted good, yes, the drinks were tasty, yes, I enjoyed the company of friends, but when lured to a restaurant with the hopes of a somewhat filling dinner for $45 per person fails, I was disappointed. Sorry. Get rid of the child-size portions, or just advertise the servings as appetizers.
