This was one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had! My friend and i ordered the French toast which my friend says is usually delicious and it had no flavor and was charred.... Not just burned! Visually it was obvious that they were burned, but the waitress didn't even seen to notice or care. I am a waitress and i would never have served that food. Another's eggs which were supposed to be poached were cooked hard. And another's that were supposed to be over easy were well done as well. Very disappointed. read more

I am new to Billings and this has quickly become one of my favorite places. Their food is fantastic. The chicken and gnocchi on the Brunch menu is delicious. The gnocchi pretty much melts in your mouth. Please put this on your dinner menu! The service has always been pleasant as well. read more

Came in at six after seeing this place on Yelp, was told it would be about 20 minutes. After being handed drink menus, we asked if they were trying to seat us at the bar and were told they were. We said we'd want a table (I have short legs and sitting on a bar stool for a meal is just unnecessary torture.) and were told that a table wouldn't be available until 9pm. No one mentioned reservations or offered any apologies, while there were two empty four tops and another about to empty. We found somewhere else to eat. Went twice this weekend. Once for dinner and once for brunch. Food quality is good. Good variety but wish there were more unfried options. Nice atmosphere and cute patio. Definitely working out new restaurant kinks. Out of desert Saturday night. Sunday brunch they were out of huckleberry sauce and champagne both for the special mimosas. Ice maker was broken but they went and bought ice. Only have sweetened raspberry iced tea. Definitely need an unsweetened tea. Great potential and good concept. Brand new place opened a few months ago. Moved into the old Zpizza location. Mostly New American dishes. Had the New York strip with mashed potatoes. Good flavors overall. Steak was cooked well done rather than medium rare which isn't unforgivable-but memorable given their high end pricing. Service was great overall. I won't write them off based on one experience, since I'm sure they are in the process of figuring it out. It's a cool place and I'd recommend it for sure. read more

Friday evening. You can smell the awesomeness from the parking lot. I got the one of the last seats at the bar. A great view of the food being prepared. No trace of the former Z Pizza decor. Small and great looking. Not a lot of tables. Patio seating when it is not too cold. People without reservations were being turned away. Good wine and beer selections. I had the buffalo cauliflower and the crab cakes. The food was fresh and freshly prepared and the flavors were wonderful. Watching the lamb, pizza, fish and chicken dishes being plated and carried past me makes me motivated to return very soon. Too full for dessert but I will try to save room next time. The food is unlike anywhere in Billings. The menu changes with the seasons and is always filled with outstanding flavor. Second time we have had dinner with friends so I feel that we have given this place a chance. The food was adequate but not excellent. Small portions. No dinner salad or even a small side salad available. I could tolerate the food but the biggest complaint was the wait staff. I think that some of these young kids need to have an attitude adjustment to understand that the they are there to help the customer. I saw their attitude to be arrogant to the point of being unjustly rude--that entitlement attitude. I eat out often, but this place is at the bottom of my list and unless the staff is re-educated on common courtesy, I won't revisit. Just attended the soft opening. Quite a varied menu. There is something for everyone. My wife and I had the Poutine and the breaded cauliflower appetizer. Both were great. Beer selection has good options for microbrews. I had the strip steak which was very good. My wife had the salad and the lemon vinaigrette was very good. I was surprised how smooth everything went considering how busy they were. They are going to be having brunch on the weekends as well. We will definitely be back for dinner and bring our kids to the brunch. read more

Meet friends at Local for dinner, had to wait fo r a table on the patio to be cleaned because the waitress was so busy flirting with two men at the bar. Finally seated, from the time we sat down to the time we left, we had to wait and wait for literally everything. Our waiter took forever to get us water and never did hear of any specials for the night. Mind you the restaurant was not busy. Again waited for him to come back so we could ask about food allergies. Waited for him to take our order, my friend waited really long for her drink we had to hunt down the waiter to get him to bring her wine. Took forever for the food to come out. Asked for condiments with meal, my husband had to go find our waiter to finally get them so we could eat. Long story short our food was ok nothing great. Service horrible. Nice atmosphere. We went for brunch over the holidays. Big disappointment. Our meals sounded wonderful on the menu. It was a different story when they arrived. They looked identical, although one was beef and one was pork. Everything was crispy and overdone in our eyes. Coffee is charged per cup, mediocre at best. Not a nice full bodied, favorful cup of coffee, so a lot of money for mediocre coffee! I did enjoy my mimosa. I may be back someday and see if we just hit a really off day, but not too soon! read more

I like this place. First, it is not a chain eatery. The food, in my opinion, is well prepared and prepared fresh. Plus, they have their own craft beer brewed just for them. The deserts are amazing. The place is a little new, so they are probably still working out the kinks, but I will support a local business any day and twice on Sundays over national chain restaurants. Want more? Really 4.5 stars but having Coldsmoke on tap really pushes Local over the top! Very small and quaint interior with a neat atmosphere. We made reservations which I would recommend especially for groups more than two. Crab cakes were great as an appetizer, the pizza was very good with a touch of a sweet sauce that was not my favorite but the ingredients were extremely fresh. The Local hamburger with bacon & whipped cheese was FANTASTIC! The best burger in Billings for sure. The whipped cheese on it really made this burger pop! The cheese looked like butter at first glance but it really sets the burger apart when it melts and gets absolutely everywhere! A real treat to have a place like this in Billings. I went here with my husband without reservations. They had room for us at the bar and we were fine with that. The service was excellent, the food was among the best we've had in Billings. We had the mussels which were great, but my husband saw many of the buffalo cauliflower appetizers going by so we'll try that next time. Tonight was my 6th visit to Local - 4 times for dinner and twice for brunch. It's my favorite for both. I was raised on lamb so I had to try the lamb shank. It is as outstanding as the presentation. My Armenian relatives would totally agree. Do save some room for dessert and just remember PEANUT BUTTER. There are two choices and you can't go wrong with either one. We visited Local for dinner this week. Friendly staff, excellent wine and beer selections. My friend's selection of flank steak was tasty with chimichurri sauce but very chewy. Served with shoestring potatoes and salad, a satisfying meal. My lobster tacos were satisfactory in texture but disappointing in flavor. Be aware that salad is served with lardons and bits in dressing....which I had to return since already told server no beef nor pork. Satisfactory salad later offered with citrus dressing. This place is awesome! We ordered the Staff Burger and the Braised Pork shoulder, let me tell you, we haven't had food this good since we left Nashville! The place was a little smaller than we imagined which caused us wait about an hour-fifteen for a table. Momma always said never turn down a packed house, so we took mom's advice and the hostess gave us coupons to chill at a bar across street. All in all, it was well worth the wait! The staff was friendly and helpful and the place wasn't not too far from our hotel. My advice is to call ahead and make a reservation if waiting is not your style. read more

Went for dinner. This place is always crowded for dinner in Thursday Friday or Saturday. Reservations are definitely recommended. I had the special, walleye on bed of shredded roasted brussel sprouts with tartar sauce. The tartar sauce was excellent with just the right amount of citrus. I also ordered the SOD cream of mushroom soup. It may have been the best thing I ever put in my mouth. I think back fondly about that soup....my favorite thing by far are the plum sauce sticky wings. I liked it because it wasn't coated in sauce and the wings were crispy. I personally prefer light sauce drizzle so the wing stays crisp. They also carry my favorite local Montana brew Cold Smoke Scotch Ale. Only reason for 4 stars is the wait required despite the reservation and although our server was nice she did not check on us much. To be fair it was busy but it is the job. read more

Came on a Friday night. Did not have a reservation and were offered to wait for a table for about 30 minutes. It's totally reasonable to wait 30 minutes, and we wanted to wait. Unfortunately, they don't have a space for anyone to wait and have a drink, and when we asked for somewhere to wait, the staff offered nothing, not even a chair by the door or on their patio.
