Been here three times now to the Local Kitchens in Lafayette. It's close to Berkeley, and even closer to my heart. I get Proposition chicken A LOT, and they make it so well here. I've also had the curry up now ravioli here and, while its best eaten right after they give it to you, it's still really good when you get home. UPDATE: Unfortunately I contracted salmonella poisoning from here. With the work of the county health department, it has been pinpointed. Had been eating here consistently and it was the last meals I had before becoming ill. There are a few restaurants there. The last one I chose was "Orens Hummus." It was a supposed to be cold salad that arrived warm. I take fault for even eating it. I was sick and showing symptoms within 24 hours and tested positive at the hospital and it was the last thing I ate before becoming ill. I'm not trying to ruin this place. I still think it's a neat idea, but after what I've gone through, I'm sorry but I must update my review. Unfortunately we will not be returning. I know it's been very hot and it could have been a one time thing, but I don't want anyone to go through what I did. Please make sure your employees are following proper hand hygiene and temperature checks. Love the varieties at one central location. Everything look delicious and of course our eyes were bigger than our stomach. Kiosh took a little longer to navigate but that's ok, we live in Danville. We can order on line than head out to pick up. Disappointed that they didn't have The Lumpia Company, wanted to try the cheeseburger lumpia. Love every bite. I brought from 3 out of the choices available. I used to eat.thes burritos from the food truck when I used to work in the city. Thse tasted identical to those & it hit the spot. The chicken sandwich was good as well. The one we had a hint of spiciness which I liked. & the ice cream was creamy & unique. Definitely will come back. This place really solves one issue: when you get asked the famous question of "what do you wanna eat?"...You can never say "I dont know, what do you wanna eat?" because you can get it all here! I didn't really understand this little "food hub" until I tried this place out. Super easy to order on their online system for TAKE OUT or DELIVERY only. I had no issues with making my order and I ordered from several of their food spots because I was craving a little bit of everything. They house several yummy restaurants: Mixt, The Little Chihuahua Mexican, Sajj Mediterranean, Señor Sisig, Wise Sons, Curry Up now, Glaze, Saucy Asian, Humphry Slocombe, and Proposition Chicken. I came on a weekend afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Once inside, I was greeted and got my order right away. It was fresh and everything was still hot, when I picked up. I was actually surprised at how this little place "housed" all of those restaurants- the kitchen was poppin'!! For all my vegan peeps, I would just be cautious of some dishes being authentically vegan, because I'm not too sure of how easily able they are to cook it all "separately." My co worker raves about this place so I had to try it ! He said all the food is so good but the Filipino burritos are bomb . I went with my bf after work starvinggg hard to decide what go get but the fried chicken sandwich was calling my name my bf got the bbq bacon sandwhich from melt . Only took several minutes to get our food super fresh and hot ! Also the manager nick aka the stash ! Lol was superrrrr friendly and personable ! Gave us coupons AND free waters ! So awesome ! 3 stars is for the crew there only, as everyone is super nice and is hustling all the time. Based on the quality of food, I'd give it 2 stars at best. I've ordered here a million or more times over the last few months and I've come to the conclusion that local kitchens is NOT consistent. AT all. Some examples: Flipped Chicken from Proposition Chicken -sometimes the flipped chicken sandwich will be so watery and overly Cole-slawed -sometimes the chicken is so dry it's disgusting -and sometimes it's salty and awkwardly has this curry taste to it?! Señor sisig burrito - (I always order hella spicy) and it's only been "hot" once -sometimes it's just ALL tortilla, barely anything else including the meat or choice -sometimes the rice is over cooked and crunchy (which therefore makes the entire burrito unbearable to eat). Oren Hummus Falafel Wrap -more often that not, this is half cold/frozen. So disappointing -sometimes it's super watery so it makes the pita soggy -sometimes there's barely any falafel in it I take a gamble everytime I order from here because I know, time and time again, it's not going to be what it was the one or two times I ordered it and it was what was advertised/what I expected. I'll also say the quality has gone way down since they opened. I used to order a burrito or the sandwich like, once a week. Now I only order things out of convenience, only to be like "damn, I knew better". Having too many options has clearly made the quality go down, which is a bummer since the team there is awesome and the convenience and options are great! read more

This review is half to praise the food and half to praise the service. We accidentally ordered from Door Dash with the Local Kitchens in Oakland instead of Lafayette. We pulled up to the Lafayette location and then realized what had happened. The owner and staff were super sympathetic and re-did our order and made it so we didn't get charged twice. Now, the fried chicken was great! It actually reminded me a bit of a recipe my family in Ohio used to use so this mean included a little sentimental touch too. :) If you're looking for some pandemitastic eatins', look no further than Local Kitchens! read more

I really love the concept of having several different restaurants' kitchens under one roof. I'm always so indecisive when it comes to ordering food, and now, I don't have to choose just one place to order from! The online ordering process is super simple, and the food was ready right on time. I went with the teriyaki chicken and soba salad from Glaze, with an ube horchata from Señor Sisig. The horchata was sweet, delicious, and refreshing. The food from Glaze was pretty good but I would probably try something different next time. I ordered the cowboy chicken salad and in the comments I put NO CHEESE. Once I got home, I realized there was literally a cup full of cheese on top and then even more cheese mixed throughout. On top of that, in the notes section I asked for a balsamic vinaigrette dressing instead of the blue cheese dressing on the side and they didn't read that not either! Horrible service. Kind of awkward to review Local Kitchen when they're in fact the hub for food from multiple restaurants, and some are and and some not so good. But, the concept of Local Kitchen is awesome and I love how easy to use their website is, as are the kiosks in the store. It's such an easy way to get a variety of things from different well-known establishments at one place. I also like that they're not in downtown, making parking and pick up easy. I have not had food from any of the places before (other than Humphrey Slocombe) and I really like the California Sisig burrito and Wise Son's Reuben sandwich, but some other dishes fall flat. Great service! It's a cool idea to have different vendors within one kitchen because it allows for everyone to get something they want to eat. Perfect for big families with different requests. Conveniently located right off of Main Street in Lafayette, it's easy to find and very central. Prices are very reasonable and I can't express how kind and happy the staff is. There are two tables outside of the restaurant to eat at. Otherwise, no indoor dining. It's Only for takeout. Next time I really want to try the ice cream! read more

Scrolling through Yelp looking for a new place we hadn't been to and found Local Kitchens. Ordered from Proposition Chicken. First, the staff was fantastic. I had a great conversation with the guy at the front, assuming he is the manager. The conversation drifted towards their in house ice cream, and scored a pint (Malted Milk chocolate). I had the chicken strips which were wonderful. My wife has the chicken salad which she really liked. We will be back to try their difference menus. Highly recommended. read more

Previous review: Being from San Francisco, I was so excited to find Local Kitchens, which has several of my favorite food spots from the city. My husband and I decided to get a Senor Sisig burrito for lunch today and we were disappointed to discover that the quality is nothing like the quality of the food from the SF truck. Our burritos were cold and so unappetizing. Local Kitchens just adds to the list of disappointing food options in Lafayette. If done right, I can see this place having a lot of potential, but the quality just isn't there yet. read more

This place is basically like having a bunch of famous SF restaurants all locally available! I got the reuben from wise sons as well as a mango lasssi and cali burrito from senior sisig. The food was prepared quickly, clearly fresh, and incredibly delicious. I love the variety you can get from this one little nook in lamorinda. I also really like the technology integrated into the restaurant with regards to ordering through the tablets and text notifications for when your food is ready. This is an awesome new spot in Lafayette where the Cheesesteak Shop used to be across from McDonalds. The food joint is basically a 7-in-1 restaurant where you can order from different menus from popular eateries like Curry Up Now or Mixt. The selection is great, the food is fun, and there's definitely something for everyone. The food types you can get are Indian fusion (Curry Up Now), salads (Mixt), teriyaki bowls (Glaze), chicken sandwiches (Proposition Chicken), Filipino fusion (Señor Sisig), bagels (Wise Sons) or ice cream (Humphrey Slocombe). All the menus are shorter than what you see at the full size restaurants but they have a lot of the best sellers from each joint. I did the samosa burrito and sweet potato fries from Curry Up Now and the vegetarian bowl from Glaze the next day and they were both awesome. Saw a different review about how you can only order on Door Dash and can't order from two different food spots in the same order. If you go in person, you can order as many items from their different menus as you like and I'm sure they'd accommodate you over the phone as well if you asked. While I have no issues with the food or service, I resent that they tack on a 5% surcharge to your bill for "living wages". In addition to that, they default their tipping option to 15% or 20%. You're asking me for 20-25% extra for takeout food? I'm sorry, but you need to pay your workers better and stop trying to snooker money from your customers. Update --- To the business owner who responded. I appreciate your reaching out. However, I'm not sure there is much more to say about it. Stopped by for a late dinner pick up. Ordered on their app and timing was spot on. Didn't wait a minute longer than what they quoted. Was assisted by Joe who was extremely friendly. Staff were all professional. The place is very clean which is always a huge plus in my book! Ordered the fried chicken entree from proposition chicken. Chicken was still crispy and moist by the time i got home (10-15 minute drive). Cucumber slaw was tasty and biscuit wasn't half bad! Buffalo wings were generic, nothing fantastic. Exactly what you'd expect from "Buffalo wings". Overall good experience. Will probably come back and check out the other restaurants inside! I decided to try this place out. However, what I didn't realize is that they serve food from multiple restaurants in the Bay Area. When you enter, there are three ordering kiosks where you can look through a menu of many different options (in the future, I will probably order ahead of time on their website). ****there is no indoor dining here. They have some outdoor dining tables. They have many different vegetarian options, which I love because it is hard to find places with good vegetarian options (many of the vegan restaurants in the Bay Area have closed during the pandemic). I actually came here intending to order fries, but when I saw that they had potato latkes, I decided to try those instead. They were ok. I wish that they would have been a bit crispier. I would probably get the fries next time. The impossible melt burger was great. It was so much food that I had to save some of it for later. My order was about $21, so this was definitely a treat for me. 4/5 stars for excellent service and having a variety of vegetarian options. read more
