Not sure what the buzz is about because the food tasted just okay. The plus is they open pretty early so if you wanted an early breakfast at a place that's not a coffee shop, this is a viable option. The scramble I had was okay but brownie I had was pretty dry. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place.

I was just at an event of 200 people which Sunrise Bistro catered. I cannot tell you what an amazing job they did even with temperatures over 90 degrees! The food was fresh and delicious. The servers did an excellent job. The deserts were so delicious! Presentation of the food was perfect

The protocol here is unnecessarily inefficient. After being placed on a waitlist and waiting for 20 min, we were then directed to a table (identified by a number), you're then required to get back in another line to place your order. The pastry case has no prices or descriptions, which is especially frustrating given how unique some of the items are. The food was equally disappointing. The Joe's Special was bland and forgettable. I ordered a morning bun and specifically asked for it to be heated; it wasn't. When I asked again, it was microwaved instead of toasted, resulting in a SOGGY, inedible mess. The only bright spot was the power scone, which was decent and on the healthier side--but even then, ingredients weren't listed, and I had to ask to find out it contained no sugar or refined flour, with blueberries and oat flour. The staff was also very nice. Overall, this place was a letdown and absolutely not worth the wait.

An early breakfast at a Walnut Creek classic - Sunrise Bistro! We enjoyed the breakfast burrito with bacon (and a side of bacon- small Portion not worth it). The burrito was good. I enjoyed Chelsea's omelette- egg whites with broccoli, Jack cheese, zucchini, spinach, avocado. Served with the sides- love their potatoes and the homemade dill bread. Always a healthy and delicious start to the day here!

Really enjoyed my breakfast at Sunrise Bistro! The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were generous.

Was hitting up a few Walnut Creek places early on a Saturday and popped in for breakfast. Avocado toast on super seeded bread is always reliable. Biscuit sandwich with sausage was really good. The biscuit was fresh and moist, with fluffy scrambled eggs and a great sausage patty. Both items were solid.

Came right before a huge rush so got lucky to grab a table. Got the special with scrambled eggs, bacon, and the lemon ricotta pancakes. Have the pancakes with only the blueberry sauce- skip the syrup. The coffee wasn't the best but the biscotti it came with was delicious.

My favorite Saturday morning breakfast spot in Walnut Creek. I love the food and the incredible staff who do such a great job making you feel at home here. I've never had a bad experience. The wait times can be on the longer side during peak times, but it's worth the wait. The indoor seating is not too crowded somehow, despite how many people show up for breakfast, and outdoor seating is also an option when the weather permits. Their lunch offerings are also solid.

I realized I'm way overdue for reviewing this place, it's been over five years since I wrote my last review for them! We came here today for brunch and were seated in the back. It's a small room near the restrooms which wasn't my favorite but my fiance was starving so we took what was first available. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. I ordered the brisket hash and he had the breakfast burrito. The hash was great and hit the spot- I wouldn't say it's something I'll crave but it was good. The burrito was massive and packed with the perfect ratio of filling, the only downfall was that the eggs were underseasoned and it came with a really small cup of salsa that left you begging for more.

I love how this diner bakes their own baked goods! From the biscotti given with their coffee, biscuits on sandwiches, breads, croissants, muffins, cookies etc- all made in house and are so delicious. I really appreciate restaurants that have a homemade vibe vs using processed/packaged ingredients. We went on a Friday late morning and there was a 5-10 minute wait for a table. We ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich, avocado toast on seeded bread with salmon, and lemon ricotta pancakes. To go, we took an oat bran muffin, zucchini bread, and chocolate chip cookie- all delicious! The biscuit was buttery and tasty and the lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious and perfect amount of lemon flavor. The avocado toast with the seeded bread was for health lol the seeded bread is gluten free and not your standard piece of toast fyi! I still ate it all! Service was so friendly and you can tell everyone was in a great mood! I would come again!

Ask the Community - Sunrise Bistro

Do they serve gluten-free pancakes or gluten-free waffles?

They do, but they use the same pans as gluten containing foods to make them, so if you're concerned about cross contamination they aren't safe for celiacs.

What are brunch hours on weekdays? Weekends?

    7:00am-3:00pm every day

Do they offer brunch daily or just on weekends?

Daily. It's a hybrid of order at the counter and they serve you by table number.

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

I dont think so. Sad to say but, Its not the type of place you want bottomless mimosa's. It has a older starbucks/taqueria vibe. You have to order at a walk up counter, you get somewhat rushed to place an order, then you are given a number and you…

When will Sunrise Bistro be open for indoor dining?

Well I was just there and there aren't even and tables inside so I think nothing is planned. Outdoor eating there is very nice

Has this place reopened for outdoor seating?

Yes! They are open for outdoor seating.

Is this restaurant open for outdoor dining on their patio?

Just went last weekend and it still looks to be pickup/delivery only.

When I called the phone number to place an order it goes to their catering business line and you cant order from there so I don't know what's going on?

I'm not sure either but the phone does in fact a ring to their catering service. It's a small family owned business and I suspect it's all one phone line. I received a call back immediately following a message I had left, but this was regarding…

She handled us flawlessly and never missed a beat. The wings are so good and they said the fried picked were delicious. I had the watermelon strawberry lemonade (Double) and it was so refreshing and it definitely hit the mark. For food, I was so indecisive because i did not want anything too heavy. I wound up getting the sliders (2 brisket and 1 tri tip) and a side salad. They were so yummy to my tummy. The flavor was great and I added the honey BBQ (All BBQ sauces are on the table already). That set it off just right. They're prices are moderate. I mean it is BBQ. Also, my food came out hot. Unfortunately, I have to take a star off because one of my Soror's food had to be reheated and she was not very happy about that. However...I am to going to go back and try it again.

The combo came with 2 sides and we chose mac and cheese and waffle fries with house rub. We started with the cauliflower bites, sticky flavor with comeback sauce. All the meats had good flavor. The pork had a slight sourness that was nice. Most of it was drier than I'd like though. Only the pork belly was actually flavorful, juicy, and tender. Mac and cheese and fries were both fine but won't be writing home about this. Cauliflower was pretty good, could be crunchier with more breading. The table had 4 different BBQ sauces. I really liked the tin roof non spicy. It was nice to have that many options. The staff were nice but maybe a little too attentive. They cleared our water cups before we were ready to go.

They have also revamped the menu and though some old favorites are missing - we enjoyed what we tried - namely the grilled artichokes which are a slightly different recipe to what was previously on their menu but absolutely delicious with that same wood-fired taste and accompanied by two dipping sauces that was fantastic. Also had the artichoke dip which was also really good with lots of chunks of artichoke! The only thing that was unnecessary was the sour cream - unless the intent was to mix into the dip and salsa which did not really go - the dip itself was fine and stood out on its own. While nothing was bad, it definitely wasn't exciting. Artichoke & spinach dip was very good, but served with chips, sour cream & salsa....was just very odd. Corn croquettes were also tasty, 5 little balls with a plate full of roasted chillies... again...a bit odd. Burger.. something different next time. Salad... this was the prettiest item ordered. The prices are the total Instacart prices, including the extras. * GOOD: It was pretty tasty, and they did a lot of things right. * BAD: Red Onion skins on both hamburgers as well as the salads. Didn't peel the Red Onions enough before they sliced them. That's pretty bad. Rookie. I would have rounded up to four stars if it weren't for that! * The $18.50 Buckhorn Burgers were generally good: + Extra Burger Patty ($3.00), + Bacon ($1.50), + Caramelized Onions ($0.50), + Red Onion ($0.25), + Roadhouse Onions ($0.50), + Tomatoes ($0.25), + Swiss ($0.50) The burger portions were very generous - in retrospect the Extra Patty was not needed, and the buns were very good. I enjoyed the Roadhouse Onions. BUT: you could taste grease on the patties! BAD! They weren't rare, but I understand that it's tough to do in food delivery. And no ketchup/mustard/mayo options on a delivery order. That's un-American. They needed more pickle presence on the hamburger. An extra pickles option would have been nice. * I enjoyed the $15.25 Roadhouse Salad: mixed greens, string beans, tomatoes, sweet walnuts, Roadhouse Onions, bleu cheese crumbles + Side Honey Lime Dressing ($0.50), + Red Onion ($0.25), + Tomatoes ($0.25) and the Honey Lime Dressing immensely. EXCEPT for the Red Onion skins! I really liked the addition of string beans, would have even been better if they had been pickled. Never underestimate pickles (acid) when eating grilled meat! Extra credit for being able to substitute Honey Lime Dressing for the Honey Basil Vinaigrette. * The litmus test, because I'm a certified Kansas City barbecue judge, was the $12.50 Burnt Ends + Roadhouse onions, Au jus. If you're going to do them you have to do them right, and your entire brisket for that matter. Except firstly THESE WEREN'T BRISKET, they were tri-tip!!! BAD. So they were a shortcut to begin with. Just so people are fully aware, the menu item name would be better stated Tri-tip Burnt Ends. They must be fully fork-tender, *connective tissue broken down*, and the fat properly rendered. Burnt ends must have: * A tender, yielding interior--not chewy * Deep-brown, developed bark on multiple surfaces * Caramelized edges without acrid, carbonized, or genuinely burnt flavor. These were tasty and so I would score them highly on taste, but they failed principally on tenderness and bark. development.

I ordered the Iga Saos Kacang ($30) and the 3-pc. lumpia ($12). The Iga Saos Kacang came with two ribs served on a banana leaf with sweet rice, pickled vegetables, and bumbu kacang (peanut sauce). I also ordered the soda gembira ($4). The food and drink came out at the same time, at about 5 minutes. The ribs were phenomenal. They were tender, smoky, and paired incredibly well with the peanut sauce. The sauce itself had a really nice sweetness to it, complementing the richness of the beef without overpowering it. One fascinating discovery I've made about Indonesian food is just how prominent sweetness can be. Rather than treating a sweet component like the coconut rice as something to eat on its own, you're often meant to combine everything together, creating a flavor bomb with every bite. That's what makes Fikscue's concept so interesting to me. Texas-style barbecue is already heavily focused on smoke, seasoning, and the quality of the meat, while Indonesian flavors can bring in sweetness, nuttiness, spice, and acidity. The Iga Saos Kacang showed how naturally those two styles can work together. The lumpias were nicely fried and surprisingly filling on their own! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who explained that the lumpias were a popular addition, with some customers ordering them by the dozens. They're filled with meat and vegetables and have a big, satisfying crunch. Just watch out for the oil! Coming from my own Vietnamese perspective, the soda gembira reminded me of Vietnamese soda sữa, minus the egg. Pandan and coconut flavors are familiar to me, but if you've never had pandan and coconut together, it's a wonderfully fragrant combination that's simultaneously creamy, sweet, and refreshing. The soda gembira was a particularly fun drink to have alongside the smoky, savory barbecue. Service was excellent as well. The staff were really nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Before it was my turn to order, I saw the staff engaging in Indonesian banter with the customers in front of me. It gave the restaurant a very warm, lived-in feeling that emulated the hospitality found in Indonesian culture. Fikscue is doing something genuinely unique by bringing together halal Texas-style barbecue and Indonesian cuisine. Add in the friendly service, and the long drive from the South Bay felt justified. If you're anywhere in the Bay Area and want to try something unique, Fikscue is worth the trip.
