Cute place with interesting kitchen decor! The food was great, everyone loved their breakfast entrees. It was packed on a Sunday morning around 11:30am, but we were seated for a table of 8 within 15 mins. Kids menu - yes! Go inside and grab their kids menu, it's not listed on their website or anywhere else, but they do have a kids menu! It wasn't on the menu but we asked for chocolate chip pancakes and they were able to make it for my child. And it was delicious! The veggie bowl scrambled was good, the potatoes had a nice flavor, the veggies cooked perfectly, a little bit too much cheese for my taste but overall it was a great breakfast bowl. Omelettes were all great, and their bowl of fruit had a nice variety of all different things from watermelon to different berries to cantaloupe. Overall we would come back again, the food was fresh and tasted delicious. Employees were nice as well. Short wait 15 mins to be seated inside, food came Stopped by for breakfast and checked in at the counter. They gave us the option of outdoor seating (which was a bit hot) or waiting about 15 minutes for indoor seating. The wait wasn't bad at all, and we were actually seated sooner than expected. We ordered at the counter, and the food came out pretty quickly. I had the two egg special, and it was a great portion size with plenty of food. The protocol here is unnecessarily inefficient. After being placed on a waitlist and waiting for 20 min, we were then directed to a table (identified by a number), you're then required to get back in another line to place your order. The pastry case has no prices or descriptions, which is especially frustrating given how unique some of the items are. The food was equally disappointing. The Joe's Special was bland and forgettable. I ordered a morning bun and specifically asked for it to be heated; it wasn't. When I asked again, it was microwaved instead of toasted, resulting in a SOGGY, inedible mess. The only bright spot was the power scone, which was decent and on the healthier side--but even then, ingredients weren't listed, and I had to ask to find out it contained no sugar or refined flour, with blueberries and oat flour.The staff was also very nice. This used to be our favorite breakfast place in Walnut Creek. It has lost quality, service. Our favorite seeded bread was old, tasteless. Avacado toast had little avacado, no chile oil, very little anything. Scrambled eggs tasted like it came from a carton rather than fresh. Since you pay first including tip, service is non-existent. To get a refill in your coffee or anything is non existent. Too bad, such a dissapointment. read more

The wait times can be on the longer side during peak times, but it's worth the wait. It's a small room near the restrooms which wasn't my favorite but my fiance was starving so we took what was first available. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. I ordered the brisket hash and he had the breakfast burrito. The hash was great and hit the spot- I wouldn't say it's something I'll crave but it was good. Everyone who works there smiles. My daughter noticed right away. Everyone seemed happy to be there. For the next hour I continued to watch the employees: They were chatting with each other, helping each other, and all seemed joyous. If Trader Joe's had a restaurant, this would be the team. I ordered 3 platters of sandwiches and a big salad to take to a club meeting. I wanted to pick it up August 22, but somehow I messed up the confirmation and set the pick-up for August 23. When I got to the restaurant on August 22 and realized my error, I was so upset and anxious: people at the club were waiting for my lunch! A young man at the cashier stand realized the mistake and he went to speak to the chef in the back, and both he and the chef came out and said they could make up my order in 20 minutes while I waited. AND THEY DID! In 22 minutes I was out the door with my platters and salad - everything looking very appetizing. And the lunch bunch at the club thought the food was delicious! I love how this diner bakes their own baked goods! From the biscotti given with their coffee, biscuits on sandwiches, breads, croissants, muffins, cookies etc- all made in house and are so delicious. I really appreciate restaurants that have a homemade vibe vs using processed/packaged ingredients. We went on a Friday late morning and there was a 5-10 minute wait for a table. We ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich, avocado toast on seeded bread with salmon, and lemon ricotta pancakes. To go, we took an oat bran muffin, zucchini bread, and chocolate chip cookie- all delicious! The biscuit was buttery and tasty and the lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious and perfect amount of lemon flavor. Really should come to Sunrise Bistro more often. Unfortunately, the last time I was here was in 2018 when my Dad was admitted to Kaiser Walnut Creek. Today (April 2025) I'm here again because it was my Mom's turn. She was admitted last night and I'm back to spend the day with her. I didn't have the time or inclination to cook. My sister and I shared a scramble for breakfast before going to the hospital down the street. Yummy perfectly cooked eggs. Highlight for me was the roasted sweet potatoes. A great alternative to the typical potato hash, slightly sweet and feels lighter than regular potatoes. Also enjoyed my cappuccino. The large cup was awesome for curling both hands around to warm them. The next day, Mom was upgraded to eating regular food. Ordered fried eggs and pancakes for her. I came at 12:00 to meet my college roommate for lunch. Large parking area near Marshall's and near Broadway Plaza. The convenient location and large salad menu makes it a great choice. Went for a friends birthday. There were 6 of us and we got 6 different meals. They were all delicious! The only downside are the bistro chairs are not very comfortable. Next time I'll bring cushions. Their carrot cake was outstanding! I think its probably the best carrot cake I've ever had. Very moist, great texture, lots of walnuts and Raisins.
