I spent 20 dollars on their beef rib pho and it was pretty much the worst pho of my life :(

Visited Local Pho looking to try new pho places around Houston. I was really surprised when I saw the strip of modern restaurants around. The entire stop of stores is in a really open and modern new area. I love the seating around the center and shop places being so open and next to each other. As for the food, the menu wasn't too expansive, but had great variety. They have vermicelli bowls, rice bowls, banh mi, and pho options. I ordered the eye round steak pho with the crispy egg rolls. We also got a side of pork spring rolls that were good starters. Everything tasted pretty great! We were happy about the taste of the broth and everything. The egg rolls were soo good and crispy. I would definitely order these! The customer service was normal. We came during an off time and were a bit confused as to whether they were closed or not. I think the one thing that holds them back from a review fo 5 stars would be the service and organization of everything. Overall, definitely worth a try! read more

So I've given Local Pho a good try for over a year after I've originally gone and I'm glad I did! The Banh Mis are a good lunch go to item for me and they always take into consideration my modifications. I haven't personally tried anything else on the menu but do highly recommend the banh mis at this establishment. read more

Great pho spot in Sawyer Yards that isn't overhyped like so many noodle houses in the Inner Loop! Fairly simple and straightforward menu at great prices ($8 for a big bowl of goodness). I ordered the Pho Ga which was perfect for the cold January evening. The chicken was shredded (instead of sliced like I normally encounter) and reminded me of homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup. You also have an unlimited amount of bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeño, sauces and lime slices at your disposal so you can craft your perfect bowl. The space is very large with seating in the front and the back. Sit in the back so you can enjoy your pho with a great view of the downtown skyline. It was fairly busy and the majority of seating is "communal" seating, so if dining next to strangers freaks you out I'd consider coming during an off hour. If that isn't an option for you, there are rows of window-facing bar stools so you may slurp your pho in quiet solitude. read more

There was a miscommunication with an order I made recently, so they remade the banh mi and offered the wrongly made one on the house! Love this place! I love their cold cut banh mi too. Really good and plenty of meat; they do not skimp! Can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner. Plenty of parking, clean and modern eatery with lots of tables. The menu is a bit limited--I would like to see some rice dishes offered. Loved, loved their green Thai tea. Had their flank steak beef pho and thought it was pretty good. We recently ordered take-out their egg rolls and thought for the price, would have liked more egg rolls. Only 2 came in the order. Their Vietnamese salad is ok, not sure I would get again. Came here on a whim. Ordered the banh mi and was not impressed at all. Hardly any meat and just seemed very bland. Wife ordered the vermicelli and again nothing to rave about. Workers seemed like they didn't want to be there at all and when it was slow 3 workers were eating lunch and on their phone. I get they need breaks and I'm ok with that but not all at once and being loud. I don't want to see that. Great view but that's about it. read more

I was skeptical, but since our favorite place, Les Baget, is out of commission at the moment, we thought it would be a good time to try Local Pho. The location is cool, the building is cool, the space is nice. The tofu spring rolls we ordered came wrapped in Saran Wrap and on a styrofoam plate. The peanut sauce looked unappealing but tasted ok. The rice paper on the spring rolls were ripped and they themselves weren't horrible, but overall weren't that great. Matt ordered the Pho Ga and said it was good. I got the Pho Tai and thought mine was not very flavorful and really greasy. And after we were done, sitting there for maybe 5-10 minutes our soups had congealed and looked really gross. Anyway, not the best experience and probably safe to say I will not be returning. read more

I was driving through the area and in need of a quick meal, when I happened upon this new complex off of Edwards with Local Pho in it (not sure if it's a play on Local Foods, but regardless, I like it). Immediately, this place won me over with their spacious parking lot, a problem with far too many Houston hot spots. While their menu only lists their banh mi and pho options, they also do have vermicelli bowls with various meat options. I ordered a set of the grilled pork spring rolls and a bowl of meatball pho. I really wanted to try out their banh mi as well, but I decided to not be overly greedy on my first trip! The grilled pork spring rolls were incredible - fresh grilled pork with plenty of aromatics inside. Add some sriracha and fish sauce to the peanut dipping sauce and take these to the next level! These were definitely a welcome change from the standard shrimp option (which they also have here). The meatball pho was pho-nomenal - a huge portion for a reasonable price. They have a little sides bar to customize your pho to your liking. I added a heaping portion of basil, bean sprouts, and jalepenos (which added a nice spice to the broth, highly recommended), finishing it off with a few squeezes of fresh lime juice. The meatball had a great flavor and texture, while the broth was nice and light, without being overly salty. One of the best bowls I've had to date in Houston, hands down. I will certainly be returning to Local Pho. The location makes it the closest Vietnamese place to me currently and it's a welcome addition. This new Edwards plaza is in its infancy, so I will be curious to see what comes to this area in the future, but for now, Local Pho is a great start. They may not have the legacy some places like Pho Binh have, but they have the food quality to compete! Highly recommend it! read more

A little hidden gem of a pho place. Went in around 6:15 on a Tuesday night and it wasn't very busy. The food came out very quickly and tasted great. The chicken pho wasn't full of salt and the chicken was perfect. The egg rolls were equally as good. It looks small when you walk in but they have an entire back section for dining, which makes the place quite large. By the time we left around 6:45/7 it was starting to get busy. Came here for their soft opening and I am impressed! Finally some good pho in the area. Local Pho is one of the most nice + trendy pho restaurants in Houston, with a hipster vibe. Interior: Extremely well lit with lots of windows and natural sunlight. Spacious with great ambience and decor. There is ample parking space out front so you shouldn't ever have to worry about not being able to find a spot during rush hours. Plenty of seating at large shared tables, and also personal seating in the middle by the large chalkboard wall to sit alone with some privacy. Food: Menu includes appetizers, pho, banh mi, and drinks! (Btw condiments are on a bar cart by the drink station). Chicken pho ($8) - my first time trying chicken pho and definitely not my last. It's super light and non greasy how beef pho can sometimes be. A great healthy alternative, and also the chicken was not dry. Fried egg rolls ($3) - comes with two and they are extremely flavorful! Matcha green tea ($4) - sometimes I'm skeptical about ordering this drink because it can be too powdery/chalky, but it was good and creamy. Love the concept of having a hip/trendy pho restaurant as an alternative to your usual bellaire places. Don't forget to check out the back patio, there's a great view of downtown! read more

Ordered both a beef pho and a pork banh mi and was pleasantly surprised with both the quality and flavor. Parts of the meal will blow you away but overall a very above average meal, leaving me with nothing to complain about. Pho is mediocre and not really seasoned like other pho places around town, although the spring rolls are some of the best I've had. The service is simple, pay at the counter and they bring you the food. Refills are up to you as the machine is open to the customers. The restaurant itself is very pleasant to be in. I've tried this place on 2 occasions. Both times were to-go orders placed online with no issues. The first time I tried their chicken pho to go and enjoyed it. They gave me good size bowl along with my toppings for it. The second time I order the chicken vermicelli and my husband ordered the wings. The vermicelli bowl was big and so yummy! I've been spoiled by my Vietnamese parents who own a shop in our hometown, but since I don't live there anymore, I'm consistently on the search for good Vietnamese food. This was not the place for Bahn Mi and Goi Cuon. Bread was barely toasted and the cucumber was hidden under the meat instead of with the carrots so the moisture from it made my bread soggy at the bottom. Their spring rolls are so unflavorful and subpar. I got pork and shrimp and it's like they forget you can salt the meat before cooking it! The peanut sauce was so watery and I didn't even finish my second one because there no saving that. My parents would be rolling if I brought them here. read more

Overall a fairly good bowl of Pho. There are various places I would likely go first but it's fairly conveniently located and the owners and staff are very friendly. Had a few dishes and tried the Thai tea as well. Beef Pho:4 could have more meat and come a little hotter but the flavors were in point and overall provided plenty of sides when taken to go. Egg rolls:4 tasty and fried well. Not a whole lot of flavor packed in but with the sauce or some spice it is fried perfectly and has a great crunch Pork Banh Mi Sandwich 4: Solid Banh Mi with a fair quality loaf used and plenty of fresh veggies. Thai green tea:3.75 Size was a little small and the tea itself had an ok flavor but was a bit sweet. The place itself is massive and seems to have plenty of seating. I like this spot, but I was disappointed that they did not have much vegetarian options or at least that is what the cashier gave the vibe of at first because I asked him what were their options and he said three different things and I was just like "oh...okay". So I order my food but upon waiting I saw their menu below the counter where you order (odd place to have menus) and the menu showed maybe 6 more options spread throughout for vegetarians. So that is what made me give them three starts because I believe the cashier should've said "I am not sure from the top of my head but..." or something along those lines before I order. Local Pho is the closest restaurant to my home. I really hoped for the best as I love having a soup for lunch. The place is nicely done, located in a very new strip in an urban, warehouse district. High ceilings, lots of windows, modern decor. In comparison to other places I love, like Jenny's Noodle, Pho Saigon, Pho by Night: - the soup is not as tasty, is it homemade? - the amount of meat is subpar - you have to get the vegetables for the soup from a bar, they're not served - you spend more money So many places on Houston serve excellent Pho. I've always loved the chicken pho because the broth was so flavorful and noodles just undercooked so they would finish cooking in the broth... the last two times (once inside and once takeout) the pho has been near flavorless. We had a great time . Beautiful area if you love concrete and eating in a garage! I felt really empowered by the service -- no greetings or basic manners, they have a sort of laissez-faire "go do it yourself" attitude. Just ask them for some napkins and you'll be given a general direction to go look for it yourself. They're also very health conscious, charging premium prices for small portions so you don't overeat and can keep your figure. The pho was reminiscent of Campbell's Chicken Soup if they removed 80% of the noodles and graced you with a morsel of meat. I ordered through GrubHub which was a very easy and smooth process. I ordered to pickup. They had my order ready before the estimated wait time. So that's a plus. I ordered shrimp spring rolls and a beef steak pho. I really liked the spring roll but I did not like the peanut sauce, it lacked taste. Then I dug into the Pho. Well I'm going to say that I've tasted better Pho. I hate giving bad reviews but this is my honest opinion. The broth was so oily when I would eat it likes chicken grease will be all over my mouth. And then the oil got on my shirt. (It's hard to wash that off) Even the broth was kinda bland and oil made it more unpleasant to eat. I wanted to get rid of it but I paid too much money to throw it away. It was my fault for not reading all the reviews beforehand. I just went to this place based on their overall score on Yelp. Not the kind of Pho, I'm used too. I had the combination soup and it had a really think layer of fat/grease I'm not sure, what it was. I've never had it served that way, before. However, once I scooped it out as shown on picture, the flavor was really good and rich with they're seasoning. We decided to sit out side and had a great view of the city's building. I also, ordered Thai Tea my favorite but it was bland very weak without sugar. Service was very not attentive, the only time server went to the table was to serve the food. Beef broth is pretty good and decent. Would love to try more pho soups on the menu. There are even vegan and tofu pho options. However there are no non-plastic spoons nor any napkins which are essential for pho. The music is too loud and not condusive for convos. I only came here to try the Spring Rolls and I ordered the Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls and keep in mind that this is my first time ever eating a Spring Roll. When I took my first bite it had a mint flavor to it which surprised me bacause I wasn't expecting it so I tried to take the leafy mint flavored vegetable out and I ended up messing up the rolls but I still managed to eat it without the overwhelming minty flavored leaves that I took out of the Rolls. The Atmosphere of this place is pretty smooth and laid back and the servers were pretty nice and helpful. I will probably come back to this restaurant to try one of their soups and I don't think that I will be getting the Spring Rolls again. read more

I've been to many Pho restaurants in my life time, and I have to say this is an unusual but fun place. The setup here is very modern and hipster. The food still has a traditional feel but yet modern. The banh mi was made to perfection. Shrimp salad was not the traditional shrimp salad I had but still add great flavor. Tried local pho for a quick lunch today. Order a chicken Banh mi and iced Vietnamese coffee. Not impressed with the chicken Banh mi at all. It was very bland and had no flavor. The lady at the cashier wasn't any welcoming either. I waited a few mins before she noticed me and came to take an order. Also, they forgot to give me my coffee.
