Decided to come here for my usual Sunday meal with my boyfriend. The pictures on Yelp made the food look very good. I asked the waitress what was a popular drink and she could not say so we both ordered the Zombie drink. It tasted weird at first, probably the Rum, but overall was pretty good. We ordered the chicken livers as an appetizer. If the livers did not have the hot sauce and blue cheese crumbles on it, it would not have been good at all. The liver was fried and had no taste. I ordered the Chicken and my boyfriend ordered the Country Fried Steak. I figured you can't really go wrong with Chicken and Collard Greens but my taste buds did not agree with this combination at all. The Mushroom Au Jus was pretty bad. I basically played over the meal and ate just the chicken. My boyfriend's meal on the other hand was great! I do not eat beef but the mashed potatoes, gravy and spinach was very good. The atmosphere was nice. Gave you the option to sit in or outside. The menu is pretty small so we probably won't be coming back. read more

Nice local lunch spot if you're in the area(: Parking: it's located in downtown lawrenceville so there's only a couple of parking spaces in front. However, there's a huge parking area in the back for neighboring stores and restaurants. Atmosphere: It has a southern and rustic feel to it but still somehow trendy if that makes sense. Service: service was awesome, our waitress was very attentive and checked in with us a lot to make sure we were good. Food: me and my friend both got the country fried filet mignon. they give you a huge portion so you can definitely get full with it alone. we only planned having a small lunch so we didn't get an appetizer, which was good cause that filet mignon really took us outO_o However, I found it to be just good, not amazing. Also, they used a bit more salt than I would've like. I haven't tried anything else on their menu so I can't say that is the case with any of their other dishes. My party and I came to celebrate a birthday. I had called and made prior reservations a week before. The restaurant was happily able to accommodate my party size. However, when my entire party arrived the day of, the host then informed me that they could no longer accommodate my party size and that I needed to have my party split into two different sections away from one another. The host at the time of separating my party was very condescending and told me in a rude tone "it's the best that can be done". When she returned to our table she continued to have a mocking attitude and I immediately informed her that I was there to celebrate and that she could excuse herself from attending to our table for the remaining duration of the dinner. Immediately after, my party and I noticed her pointing and making inappropriate eye contact towards our table with our waitress. We continued to ignore the childish behavior. Our dinner was mediocre at best. After we paid and made our way to the exit, the same hostess made it a priority to go ahead of my party and in a very disrespectful and condescending manner told us to "have a great night". No longer holding back at that time, I told the hostess directly that she was very rude and that she needed to improve the way in which she spoke to the customers helping pay her check. I immediately asked to speak with the restaurant manager. The hostess disregarded my request and immediately victimized herself by stating "I am only seventeen". She was unable to own up to her negative behavior and began to cry and ran into the kitchen. A bar manager proceeded to come out and was very apologetic for her inappropriate behavior. While my party and I spoke with the manager, a group of four men came out in a very aggressive demeanor as if they wanted to engage in physical contact with my party and I. The manager instructed the four men to return back to the kitchen. We will not be returning back to the restaurant. I suggest you spend your money elsewhere, unless you want to be disrespected by the teenage staff. read more

Service is always amazing. I've now been to a lunch, dinner and brunch service and walked away feeling underwhelmed by the food. The food never seems to be right. Leaving off ingredients or not cooked to the right temperature. For example, at brunch I ordered the Quinoa Bowl, the goat cheese was left off the dish and the "poached" egg that I was served had a yolk that was cooked entirely. Never bad food but just not great food. If you go, expect great service but average food. read more

I had never heard of this place before but my wife and family had been wanting to check it out. The place is pretty cool inside. Looks like a great restoration with exposed brick and exposed beams. They open at 12:30p on Sunday which is very odd. Most places like this open earlier or at least have brunch. A large crowed of people were waiting to get in when they opened. We were about 3rd in line. When at the host stand they seem confused on why so many people where there. They should really have someone outside to take names as they arrive before opening. We were seated on the main floor and our server came out to greet us. She did not really seem excited to be there nor did she offer any specials that I could see on the black board. She took our drink orders and left. It did seems like a while before we saw her again to place our food order. I ordered the Chicken with gnocchi. It was pretty good. The chicken was partly on the bone and had a nice crispy skin. The gnocchi was the bomb and I could have eaten more of it. The whole thing was in a cream sauce but it was kinda thin and lacked a little flavor. As I am reading the description of the entree now I see it was to have blue cheese on it too but I do not recall having any on my plate. Maybe that would have brought it to 4 stars. Overall it was a good experiences but for $18 chicken and other pricey items I am expecting a little more than "Do you know what you want to order?" from the server. Love the new location! Definitely steps this place up from what I considered a "burger and craft beer joint" to a great dining experience. Their new location is trendy and reflective of the food and service offered. They also now have a full bar which isn't yet reflected on Yelp! At the previous location I had the sink burger which was great, but at my most recent visit we split the surf and turf option between two people. It was was enough food for three people easily. Everything on the platter was full of flavor! We also had the scallops appetizer which was perfectly seared and delicious. Me and my SO went here for Valentine's day. The original plan was to come here for my birthday but the party was too big and they only have one table large enough for that many people and also do not take reservations. The food, service, and beer menu were all very good. We started with the chicken livers, which I've never tried. They were very good and not at all overcooked. For mains, we ordered the jerk chicken and the sink burger. The cabbage was spicy and yummy, and the chicken was cooked perfectly but didn't have much flavor except for on the skin. The burger was cooked well and was yummy but the bun fell apart very quickly so it ended up being eaten with a knife and fork. The creme brulee also had a nice flavor and consistency but the topping was a little burnt. Overall, we had a really good time and want to come back. The beer selection is really awesome and all of the beers that we ordered were very, very good. They definitely put a lot of care into their restaurant and menu. Really nice place in downtown Lawrenceville. They have pretty good cocktails. They also have a decent draft beer selection with a handful of local Georgia beers. Most of their beers are from microbreweries. Food is also pretty good. Have had a few items from their restaurant. They have pretty good salmon and baked chicken. Both dishes have good flavor and aren't too dry like you might find at other establishments. They also have delicious mashed potatoes in terms of sides. The peanut butter pie or cake that they have is absolutely delicious! It is on the sweet side, but if you're a peanut butter lover then this is the dessert for you. Overall, if you're looking for a good restaurant to have a nice dinner and a good drink this is the place for you. Personally, will likely be revisiting this place again. read more

Decor- rustic, kinda modern industrial with beer barrels hanging from the ceilings and large garage like doors upstairs leading to outside patio. Plenary of exposed brick and old country wood floors really make this place feel like an old county restaurant. Service- it was a bit slow. Waitress came out and took our drink order and seemed like she just left. We didn't see her for several minutes and had to ask other waiter to take our order, it was a bit frustrating as we went in pretty hungry and late for dinner. What we had: Ordered a moscow mule and another cocktail, both tasted odd and the proportions of the mixers and liquor was just not right. Zucchini Fritter -it's incredible (and enormous) just order it and you'll thank me later! Cremini Mushroom Burger -a mix of rich creminis and their house burger blend (which has short rib in it too) with goat cheese and jam -wow! Brussel Slaw - some of the best I've had. Husband & son each got the 20oz porterhouse on a bed of homemade pasta that absolutely heavenly! I think this was a nightly special so not sure if available everyday. Rolled into town on a business trip and me my and my colleague came across this little gem for lunch. All if the offerings are locally sourced which is always A1 in my book. Nice comfortable setting and the staff was great. I had the Friend Chicken sandwich spicy style and it was great. It was a mess to eat but definitely good chow. But, when mistakes happen, how they address them makes a big difference between keeping a customer or losing one, not to mention the bad rep that will get circulate by word of mouth. I've been an occasional diner at Local Republic now for over 3 years for lunch and dinner. I enjoy dining there, but some times just getting the food to go is great too. A few weeks ago, I ordered a few meals for takeout. When I got home, I noticed that one of my orders was wrong. I called them up, and they very kindly fixed my order for pickup. How have I not written a review for Local Republic?? I showed up with a graduation party on a Friday, and within no time, they had us seated and providing explanations of their menu. I decided on their Southpaw burger ($12), which is Cajun spiced with Asher blue cheese and bacon. There's no fries at Local republic, but they do offer chips of your choice (not home chips) free with burgers. Finally I got their cream soda to finish it off. The burger was pretty juicy and really filling. I mean you're not going to want to eat anything else afterwards because it's a mouthful. I'm a blue cheese fan, but sadly, there wasn't a lot of it on my burger. Located in downtown Lawrenceville off of W. Crogan Street, parking can be a premium here, but there is side and rear parking. In the Actual downtown area, there are several places to park and walk if you can't find parking though. Customer service was superb. The skies are getting darker outside and the threat of rain was looming. Will that stop me from going to Local Republic for lunch? Hell, no! I have this restaurant in my bookmark and I wanted to take the risk. Yup, I am not afraid of the tornado! My better half and I drove to Local Republic and raindrops were starting to smear my wind screen. We managed to get in there before the great downpour happened. Our waiter came to show us a table though there was only one other large table of patrons in there. Our waiter, Anthony, greeted us warmly and told us that Chef Scott uses only fresh ingredients for cooking his meals. I prodded him to elaborate. Waiter said, " oh, the beef are grass fed meat, chicken are hormone free and we support our local farmers and we get the freshest produce that is in season". That was a great introduction to LR. I am all into the Farm to Fork concept using the freshest food available. For starters, we had the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo soups. It had dark Roux, chicken, Andouille sausage, celery, bell pepper & onions. It had a great flavor, topped with creamy mash potatoes on it. Now I made myself hungry thinking of it. Hercules Double IPA beer was a great combo if you like beer. There are a total of 14 different variety of beer selection. Our waiter was very helpful with our selection of the Hercules Double IPA. For my main entree, I had the Shrimps and Grits. Normally, I am not a great fan of grits but I heard this entree has the Cajun flavor and I love Cajun cuisine. It came with six great big shrimps mixed with Andouille sausage roux and very creamy grits. The delicious gravy with spring onions blended with cayenne pepper made the dish so scrumptious. On the side, we also shared a Bacon Mac and Cheese. Parmesan cheese over bits of bacon and macaroni was so good. My better half had The Sink Burger. The beef is from Brasstown and grass fed beef is suppose to be healthier for us. When the burger came, I almost can't believe my eyes. It was stacked so high that I don't believe he can finish it all. It was cooked medium well, the way he liked it. There was Cheddar cheese, bacon, sunny side egg, jalapeno for the kick and whatever the kitchen wants to throw on. There were alfalfa sprouts, chopped tomatoes and purple onions and lettuce too. The only condiment we requested was mustard. It was all very juicy. I asked how he was going to waddle out of the door after having this big, juicy Sink. Our waiter quickly suggested that I could borrow a wheelbarrow from behind the restaurant.
