Our experience at Local Republic was so good we went twice during our visit to Lawrenceville. On Saturday we went for an appetizer and drinks. We sat at the bar and our service was fantastic. Her timing was above par! We had the Korean Chicken Wings, boneless wings generously tossed in gochjang sauce. They were so good, I seriously considered ordering again on Sunday just to take home. We had espresso martinis, made with vodka. They were really good and for those of us who are lactose intolerant, they do not contain dairy. We went back on Sunday for their Sunday brunch. Highly recommend! When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the lady who was our bartender on Saturday. She immediately recognized us and welcomed us back. We were seated right away and the server also recognized us, even though he had not waited on us on Saturday. He also provided exceptional service. My husband had the brisket tostada served with a runny egg on top. He really enjoyed it and I had a bite. Definitely something we would order again. I had their shrimp and grits. I am normally not one to eat grits, but these were so good, I couldn't stop myself. They were served with a tomato sauce the was spicy, andouille sausage and roasted red peppers. It was so good! I can hardly wait to have my leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. Unfortunately, my husband devoured his Brisket Tostada, so no leftovers there. Overall, I cannot recommend Local Republic enough for their exceptional food and service. Their prices are reasonable as well. Our waitress definitely made the night for us. Upon showing up I was told I didn't have a reservation even though I received a confirmation. I was told that the confirmation I received wasn't a confirmation but an email confirming I can make a reservation. We had to wait an hour for an outdoor table.. after our visit I received another email about my reservation that "wasn't a reservation" thanking me for visiting and asking how my visit was.. make that make sense. Other than that we had a good time with lots of thanks to our waitress. She was definitely sunshine. Helping make recommendations and answered all our questions, she was great. Food was decent. I do feel it's more of a trendy restaurant rather than passionate food focus. Everything we ordered was just okay. I ordered the chicken sandwich with their Sawyze sauce and it wasn't as spicy as advertised. A little disappointed to be honest. Chicken livers were very strong and almost unpalatable. I love all organs but they did not taste clean. The rueben was actually good. Though the corned beef were more crumbs than slices. Everything was hot but the fries were cold and soggy. As if they've been sitting for a while. A great place to go with friends and absorb downtown Lawrenceville's vibes. Maybe not lie to customers about reservations though. Gotta say this place has a simple and very interesting menu where everyone should be able to find something to enjoy. Decided to visit as its been a while since we last went and Resy made made the reservation process super easy.. The food was awesome - however i did have to ask for some salt for my pimento cheese grits - the prices are very reasonable and the service was 5 star. Our server was really the star of the show and had such a pleasant demeanor. I actually don't recall the last time that I had a server the good. She made recommendations and offered up sample of the a couple of beets before for I decided on one. My wife had a salad and added chicken that she really enjoyed and I made a meal off the small plate chicken livers which were some the best I have ever had. The food lacked flavor in OUR opinion. The chicken was fried crispy like the hubby likes, just needed more seasoning. My two egg breakfast was okay, had to add salt and I am not a salt person. I usually use Mrs. Dash. My mom's shrimp and grits was okay. It could have used a little extra pinch or two of something. Also, it was so runmy she has to eat with a spoon. Always have the best service and great flavors! Outdoor patio seating available for first come first serve so there was no wait for dinner at 6:30pm. Servers are always thorough and friendly. I tried the smoked meatloaf special , empanadas and gambas for appetizer, and had the mocha cream brûlée for dessert. Overall great experience and the menu is great but they always have different specials which is awesome! Street parking is available but can get occupied quickly so I would advise having some time to consider for parking. read more

I came here for Sunday brunch and this place appears to be pretty big. Making reservations online was seamless. They serve both brunch and dinner menu all day. The brunch menu options was very unique. I ordered the pastrami egg hash. My meal was soooo tasty. My plate had equal portions of pastrami, spinach, potatoes, and veggies. This is a really nice little spot smack dead in the middle of Perry Street. I absolutely love the vibes being served here! Everyone was so nice. I ordered Jerk Chicken and yes it was spicy-good! It was tiny compared to this! This one's even a second floor. Love the aesthetic and the vibe. Lots of exposed brick and metal. I hear the second floor is pretty cool, too though I didn't get to see. It was such a beautiful day we decided to go eat at a place where you can sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. The food was okay. Have gone here a handful of times and overall everything I've gotten has been a delight! They were very accommodating to a friend of mine who had special dietary needs. so today i went exploring lawrenceville... i was born there but grew up in buford, then lived in sugar hill and then bethlehem and now winder. i came across this place on apple maps when i was planning my little excursion and was drawn in by the photos and i will say it truly lives up to the namesake. Stephen Glass from "shattered glass" would be jealous as it's called 'local republic' haha. when i arrived it was during the st paddy's day festival, i sat at the bar and received good service immensely and the environment was very chill. i'm currently in my 20s and well everyone else my age probably (forgive me if im wrong) goes to bars and pubs and clubs and stuff and so it was a new experience for me. i don't drink, so the bartender graced me with a few mocktail options and i chose the "sweetheart" which tastes exactly like a damn sweet tart, i loved it and i would've gotten another but ran low on time. i ordered a local salad with grilled salmon and maple balsamic vinaigrette and it was so good i finished the entire thing, i truly loved the experience and service i had here and ill definitely be back in two weeks to try something new again! read more

So my wife chose Local Republic. Went at lunch on Tuesday, 12th. Waiter reeked of alcohol. He gave no specials and no suggestions. The couple next to us had a different waiter and a completely different experience. My wife chose Mojo Chicken and I chose Country Fried Steak. Waited a while. The Mojo Chicken ($22) was SALTY. I mean IF you were/are on low sodium diet you would be in trouble. I can handle salt but wow. It was overpowering. The Country Fried Steak ($23) was weirdly, taste-less. It, and the mashed potatoes, had NO salt. It seemed as if they mashed the potatoes with only butter and water, yes, water, not cream or milk. I never add salt to my food normally. I did here. So, for the 4 items, Mojo Chicken w/ sweet potato gnocchi and my Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes with price I would say 1 starts out of 5. No fault of anyone. I really wish that they would change the menu up to offer more protein variety other than mainly steak and scallops for their specials. We continue calling on the weekends to see what the specials are and 90% of the time it is always steak as 1 & scallops as other option. The specials used to be way more creative for years ago than they are the past couple years. Covid could have impacted this restaurant which is why we continue to go every now and then regardless so hoping menu gets better. They still have an amazing beer selection and their french fries are hard to beat. I have come to Local Republic twice now and did not like it either time. I held off on writing a review the first time because I wanted to give it a second chance but having done so, I feel confident that I'm not a fan. When you walk up, you check in with a host outside. They have a beverage station set up out there for their outdoor dining patio. The host will get you to your server and/or table. The interior is really cool and attractive, very much hip renovated industrial setting with exposed brick and black coated metal. As far as interiors go they have done an excellent job with the ambiance and decor. There is a whole other seating area and bar upstairs. The bar is *very* well stocked. However I have disliked the food. The very first time we came here it was for my birthday celebration. We had a server plus a server in training taking care of us. I came with my husband and my husband's aunt. My husband got the Celine Dijon burger, I had the poke salad, and I believe there was a fish sandwich special that day which is what his aunt ordered. My husband liked his burger, his aunt liked the fish sandwich, and I absolutely hated the poke salad. I had probably 4 bites of it and did not touch it. I eat poke all the time. I love poke. The salad was just horrible. The spicy Mayo was way too spicy (and I love spicy!!) and the soy sauce just drowned out any other hope at flavor. The rice, was not usual sticky sushi rice but instead was prepared in a way that none of the grains would stick to each other. I'm not sure if that's the best way to describe it. It was almost like the rice had been cooked the way you would pasta. At no point did our server ask if we liked the food. I would have been honest if asked. Instead at the end of the meal once everything else had been eaten they asked me if I wanted a box and I said no. Neither the server nor trainee inquired at that point why I hadn't eaten the salad either. I'll be honest, I'm on the fat side, so if a fat girl isn't touching her food when everyone else had eaten all their food wouldn't you think something is wrong with it? However I was like, whatever, I'm an adult, if I didn't like the salad that's on me, not everything has to be catered exactly to my liking. So I didn't leave a review and figured I would give it another shot. However, I came back with my friend on a Sunday afternoon when DT Lawrenceville was totally dead. It was the weird hour between brunch and dinner, 3:45-4:00 ish. We walked up to the host and asked for a table for 2 and got asked if we'd be willing to sit at the bar. Well my friend happened to be pregnant and bar seating was uncomfortable for her, so we said no thanks. Eventually we got seated inside upstairs. We were alone up there for a good long while, so there was definitely seating- if I had to guess they just didn't want to open that section up just yet? We both opted to get burgers since we were in the mood and I was optimistic because my husband had really liked the Celine Dijon. My friend got the Sink Burger and I did a build your own. I did happen to notice the poke salad has been removed from the menu since the last time I was there. Our burgers were just flavorless... Not only that but the LTO on the burgers were super thick. I had a lot of the fleshy white part of the lettuce stem on my burger and my friend had a slice of tomato on hers that had to be like half an inch thick. The burgers don't come with a side, so our meals were over $20 after tip for a burger and fries with water. I'm fine with that for a really good burger but this just didn't taste like anything. I mean heck, even just salt or pepper would have made a difference, but it was a very bland burger and my friend felt the same way about hers even though we had two totally different burgers. Hers even had a chipotle mayo sauce on it and it was still flavorless. The fries tasted good (if not a bit salty) but for some reason they were very limp and soggy while also extremely brown. I thought they were sweet potato fries when they were brought because of how dark they were. I've looked through the other patrons' photos and nobody else has pictures of such dark fries. I wish I had snapped a pic of them. Not sure what happened there. Like I said, the vibes and decor of the place are great. I just can't really say too many things about the food. Maybe it's a great place to get some cocktails and hang out. I don't know if I'll come back to find out. read more
