Asked them to fix a leaking pipe under front yard (hole already dug), replace a valve and snake a bathroom sink. They came on the same day and the result of the work is satisfying. The guy did things quickly and kept everything clean. But I have two complains: 1. The truck doesn't have any sign showing it's from local rooter & pluming. When I asked if he's from LRP, the answer is "I work with them". Suspect a bit about who they were sending to me. 2. Sky high estimate. The guy was asking for $800 in the beginning and cut it to $600 after negotiation. All were done in 2 hours. The other plumber sent me message later saying he could do the work in 2 hours at $175/hour. And the lesson learned today is that you should always try to hire a plumber who charge by hour. I know it's my fault to accept such a high bid but I don't appreciate a business that gives high estimate and expects customers to bargain. read more

These plumbers have been my go-to for a few years now for plumbing emergencies. They are responsive and always available for day-of service. However, they cut corners with their work and it is not up to code. A few jobs have not had issues, but the last few have brought headaches. An outside spigot they replaced immediately split open and was leaking for who knows how long. Duy came and replaced it within a day of the break being discovered, and he said it happened because the spigot was poor quality (then why did they use it in the first place?) and he replaced it with a better quality US-made one (why wasn't that installed to begin with?). I later hired them to install a new kitchen faucet and they recommended updating the pipes leading to the sink with copper from the original galvanized. I was confused because they had previously (at the same time as updating the pipes coming in and out of the water heater) said they had already replaced all the pipes with copper...so I had them do that, and they assured me that the only pipes not upgraded from galvanized to copper were going to the laundry sink & machine (same line) but "still in good shape" and I didn't need to upgrade them yet. They insisted against replacing the pipes in the wall because it was a lot more work (and money, sure) and instead insisted on drilling holes through the floor, and it was frustrating they weren't open to do whatever I wanted and really just wanted to do the easier way. They replaced everything under the kitchen sink, even the drain plumbing, and a few months later we discovered the (flexible piped) drain wasn't even attached and could be pulled away easily! Duy came out to fix this when we complained, but why wasn't it done right to begin with?! Well at the end of that, I was repeatedly assured that everything was copper updated and I shouldn't need to call them again for a long time. Well a year later, I'm in the beginning stages of a home remodel and my contractor sends me a photo of the plumbing under the house. It's a hodge podge mess of 3 types of pipes! One segment goes from plastic, briefly to copper (for the water heater), and then back to plastic, leading to the kitchen where copper goes into the house. What the actual fork! I paid for all of that to be upgraded to copper, and it was not! Now to get my remodel to pass inspection, I'll have to redo the whole thing to be up to code. After some arguing with Duy, who told me the plumbers who did this had already been fired (not a good sign), he finally gave me a refund of the repipe jobs, which I can only help covers the cost of redoing it all the right way. Long story short, they will give you a quick and cheap fix, but it will only be a spare tire to get you to the next breakage so you have to call them again. They came through for me to fix breakages all throughout my home (including clearing a shower clog in the evening), but half their work has broken soon after, and the preemptive on-demand repipe job was a lie and not to code. If you know plumbing and can call them on their BS (because they almost certainly will try to fleece you), they're a quick and cheap option for one-off plumbing jobs, but they may not be up to code and may cause you problems if you ever need to pass a permit inspection down the road. If all you need is a drain unclogged, I 100% recommend them. read more

I'm the maintenance manager for 4 group homes and we have a lot of plumbing issues. I found Local Rooter and Plumbing through Yelp and have used them about 6 times now and have been very satisfied. I always get same day service, usually within just a couple of hours. In particular I had one home where the upstairs toilet would clog every few days. Tai, the technician who I usually deal with, had cleared the toilet twice before. On the 3rd visit he brought a camera and looked in the line to discover a 3 foot section of electrical conduit was lodged inside the main 4-inch line. Apparently the conduit had been there since the plumbing was installed or last repaired and the toilet would never flush properly until it was removed. In the space of just a couple of hours Tai had found the problem, cut open the wall/ceiling, opened the drain, pulled out the pipe and repaired the drain. He had the tools, the parts, and did the whole job at a very reasonable price all in the same day. All I had to do was patch the wall board and paint. While he as there he also used the camera to inspect the drain line all the way to the street to make sure there were no other issues. Now I only use Local Rooter and plumbing and request Tai when he's available, but all their staff is good. read more

Lifesavers at a moment's notice! Duy and Vo (I believe were their names) came by yesterday at 8pm on a VERY SHORT notice to save my kitchen sink. I tried every method to unclog it before giving in to the professionals. They took their shoes off without being asked, and laid down a mat around the kitchen to ensure it was kept dry and clean. The professionals also took lots of care in how they made sure my dogs did not run out when they entered and left the home. They came, unclogged and left without leaving a trace. I snake out the sewer line once a year to keep the tree roots under control. I called Thursday and they offered to come out that evening. I wasn't in a hurry so we agreed on a one hour window Friday and I asked for a call 20min before they would arrive. Got the call as requested and met them at the house. While they were setting up the snake I mentioned that the vent on the main sewer line was cracked. The technician offered to go into the crawlspace and take a look. I called this company at around 3:00 pm on a friday and was told that the technician will be there by 4:00 pm. He did not show up until 4:30 pm. The person taking the call was nice and gave me a $10 discount at $155 to clear the kitchen sink. I told him that it is on the first floor, but the building is on a slope and in back is a garage. I asked about the guarantee and was told 30 days which is pretty standard. So far so good. I had the misfortunate of being sent Trieu. He looked at the problem and said it will be $185. After a call to the office guy, it was agreed at $175. Then I mentioned the guarantee. Trieu gave me a song and dance about car repairs and said there is no guarantee because he doesn't know the condition of the pipes. By this time he had already mentioned that I should get someone else to do the job twice. (On a friday afternoon?) Then I said, "Go ahead" meaning go ahead to do the job. He did not like my attitude and did not want to clear the drain. He did not like me saying, "Go ahead". When I tried to call the office guy to verify that he did say the guarantee is 30 days, he had already left for the day. I had to inconvenient my tenant to make a call to another plumbing company. Johnny is the guy! My kitchen sink often backed up. Every 6 months, I called plumbing companies to snake it. 6 months later, the same problem again! This time, seeing all the good yelp reviews, I decided to give Local Rooter a try. Johnny came on time. Unlike the other professionals who immediately started snaking, he talked to me about my past experiences, what I had tried, tested several sinks, checked my crawl spaces and came to the conclusion that snaking wouldn't help much and suggested to replace 4 pipes.
