The gentleman quoted me today evening after talking to the BOSS, "as he said," the estimate was for unhooking the softener in the garage and Putting U connected to those two lines. The estimate was about 50% higher than the other two estimates I received. I ended up not using them because of the higher price and also because he was also 30 minutes late. Despite COVID-19, I was able to schedule a same-day appointment to rooter the stopped up bathtub in my 1948 home. Ricky was respectful, professional and friendly. After trying repeatedly to unplug the drain with the rooter/auger, he went under the house to investigate and brought back a video on his phone so I could see the condition of the old galvanized pipe and several right angle turns. Ricky recommend cutting the old pipe out and replacing with plastic ABS fittings. The next afternoon Ricky was back and completed the project. Bathtub works great. Came 1 hr late than promised. Sent the pics clearly showing copper plumbing connected to galvanized and got the quote. The original quote was not honored w an excuse a brass nipple needed to be added and the quote did not include it without giving a new number. Irresponsible! Tried to upsell a regulator at $600 w $300 part cost (I checked and it does not cost more than $100). I am adding more after seeing owner's response. First of all, the additional work he talked about was conversion btw galvanized and copper. The person who came did not even talk about dielectric nipple but said the quote was for direct connection btw copper and galvanized. Excuse me? The owner later called and said he had intended the dielectric. I was not asking for an additional scope but a necessity. I said BS TO MYSELF AFTER he turned his back around. Again a complete lie that he had to leave due to my foul language. Be careful w these folks. BTW, another plumber came and fixed the valve within 30 mins and quoted $150 less for the same scope of work ($450 for complete section change but w brass nipples). You can again see these guys do not communicate all possible options, charge more, and are only interested in upselling things. read more

My wife and I were looking to re-pipe our whole house. After contacting numerous contractors, we selected Local Rooter & Plumbing. When Duy visited our house, it was like a good friend was informing us on what work needed to be done. Duy provided us with a very fair estimate and the length of completion was supposed to take 3-4 days. Duy and his team are very professional and worked very fast to get the job done right. I was glad that at the end of the day, his team properly cleaned up and allowed us always one restroom to use so we can get ready for work the next day. Thai at local rooter was very responsive, had all the right equipment, and was so so much better than the original plumber my home warranty sent out. Thai had a bigger machine, and a way better pressure system to clear and flush the main lines. It's a Saturday. I have been putting off replacing my kitchen faucet for weeks. But today, I had all the parts (or so I thought). I had a hearty lunch and just enough coffee to make me believe I could replace this thing. Pretty quickly, I found out that the angle stops were corroded so I had to turn the water off to the whole house. 3 trips to Home Depot, 3 basin sink wrenches and 5 expletive laden hours later I was no closer to getting our original faucet off the counter, gave up and screwed back in all the water lines. Turned the water back on....and I flooded my kitchen. At this point, it's clear that faucet replacement is beyond my wheelhouse. This company uses an anonymous forwarding number to hide their tracks with all communications (Google Voice). That was my first red flag. Very suspicious and prevents you from holding them accountable if something goes wrong. They came to the house and examined our plumbing. I then asked them if they left plastic around their work area. This was because they opened a door in the floor of our closet which usually brings in a lot of dust on our clothing. Kim, as he called himself took great offense to the question and told me he did not want to talk anymore. He then blocked my number via the forwarding service. So I set up my own Google Voice account and called him through that. He picked up. When he found out who I was he sighed and hung up on me. We've now wasted that much more time and are in a house where we cannot use the water. This will probably add a day to the time we'll need to spend in a hotel. read more

Galvanized pipe burst in the crawl space. I called Local Rooter and Alex showed up within an hour. Duy showed up afterwards and they they helped to locate a restoration service. The next day the flooding in the crawl space was contained to a degree that Alex went in the did a temporally bypass for us so that at least we can have water in the house before the restoration is done. That was something extra. Alex and the crew are very responsive and very professional. They give fair pricing and deliver what is called for. SAS Plumbing lied to me and said there were several leaks under my house and it would be a big job to fix them, but Jaime told me that all the leaks were coming from the toilet. After stopping a drip from the toilet tank and replacing the toilet ring to the floor pipe, the leaking under the bathroom stopped. Jaime even came back a few days later to make sure it was fixed. Johnny came to fix the garbage disposal. Without even opening it to see what was wrong or see if he could fix it, he said I need to replace it. He said it would be about $150 for the part and I could pay him $225 total. Then after he replaced it, he said that what he meant was that it was $280. So after I paid him the inflated price, he left. I ran the dishwasher and it shot tons of water up through the overflow and flooded my countertop and cabinet under my sink. I called him back and he returned pretty quickly to fix it. He simply forgot to remove a small plastic piece that comes on new garbage disposals to be able to drain out the water. It works fine now but was quite a mess. Update: Duy reached out to apologize and refunded me the difference between the quotes, which is appreciated. As such, I'm bumping my review of this business to 3 stars. This would be my rating for the company itself, all things considered, but I would still rate the actual installation as 2 stars as it could've resulted in my kitchen flooding. read more

Required emergency service on a Saturday afternoon to replace shower handles when the water would not turn off. Owner Duy gave a 2 hour window to do the repairs and arrived 40 minutes from the time given. He finished the job in 1 hour. i hired him for a tub drain repair. After inspection of the sewer lines underneath the house, he informed me that I had the original cast iron pipes and suggested replacing the pipes. He was able to schedule the job for the next day (Thursday). All pipes were replaced by Friday night and Jaime came back on Saturday to replace a house vent that was removed to get the pipes in and out from under the house. Cost was reasonable. The work has an 8 year warranty. Great customer service, great communication, reliable. I referred Local Rooter & Plumbing to a family member. read more

It was nearly 11pm on Thursday night after my partner's shower when we couldn't turn the shower off. I pulled apart the faucet hoping to find a way to turn off the water from within the fixture, but no go. It was then that we realized we needed a plumber. I hopped on Yelp to see who could come out first on Friday morning. A few people responded, but Duy didn't just respond with a time and quote. He said to send him a text and some more details, so I sent him a photo of my disassembled shower faucet and my request. He said that he would come out between 9-10am because I had a lunchtime meeting. I followed up with a quote request, and he came in at $100 less than the previous quote. Done! Friday morning, he messaged me just before 8:45am to let me know he was on his way. He had a mask on when he came to the door and put booties on his shoes before he came in. Then, he asked some questions, listened to my explanation and concerns, and assured me that it should be a 30 minute job and that my fiddling with the failed cartridge would not be a problem.* Well, there was some significant grunting and banging as he strained to get the old one out, but he finally managed it. We were able to turn water back on, a necessity during this pandemic, and had a running shower that also turned off again by the time he was done. *Now, I have to say that he did mention the shower's water pressure was not very good, and when I turned on the shower for the first time, I did notice that all the way to hot yields less water flow. However, I was still able to wash my thick hair and rinse it without a bunch of extra time, even though the handle wasn't on full hot. Still, the shower runs and in roughly 20-30 minutes. I then asked him for his opinion on our two toilets: one doesn't flush without help (a bucket of water and sometimes plunging too), and the other sounds like it's running randomly even when no one has been in that bathroom recently. In both cases, he told me it was our hard water that was causing the problem. He said the same of the old cartridge for the shower and even pointed to my shower head to demonstrate. I had seen it myself the night before and was fully aware. After looking at the second toilet, what he said next was what sold me on him. He said that plumbers make most of their money on installing parts; also, he explained that it was good for him, but not good for me since I would be doing it again in a couple years. Ultimately, he stated that if I didn't invest in a water softener, then I would just continue to throw my money away every few years. I asked him what kind he recommended, and he told me how to get more out of my appliances until I replace them, one with salt would be easier to maintain and do a better job over time. Additionally, he looked at my washer and explained the gurgling sound I kept hearing was because my drain pipe isn't standard, so it fills higher and more than it should. Finally, he looked at the caulking coming out of 20% of my kitchen sink and advised me not only on what kind of caulking to use but also explained step-by-step what I should do to do it myself if I didn't want to wait for him to come back another day. He didn't have to look at either toilet, advise me on explain my washer's noise, nor how to do my own kitchen sink repair, but he did, and at NO EXTRA CHARGE!?!? Folks, this is an honest man! I took him around the backyard, showed him the storm drain to be cleaned out/ sump pump as described in the job write up. He went to his van in my driveway to write up the estimate. He then called me as he was driving away saying his boss was unavailable to provide an estimate. Said he'd get back to me with an estimate in short order. Drove away and never from Andy / this company again? Wasted my afternoon and they never provided an estimate, call back, explanation or service.
