Really would've given this place 4-5 stars as per their usual. This is probably my 10th visit here. Today was definitely an off day for the chef and [some] staff. Items preferences weren't followed or changed and it wasn't busy yet. Areas of improvement today that could've went better for team local table katy: 1. Overcooked and dried rice and fish 2. Ok on veggies but need to work on those brussel sprouts more 3. Mind the waiter's order notes 4. check on your patrons more A young man was irate that myself and 2 others weren't too impressed with the food today with our comments. Mind you, he wasn't even the one serving us. And his quote: "...I hate people like that, coming here complaining about our food and still eating it." To that person let me give you a follow up as to why people are willing to tolerate mediocrity for a lunch: 1. We don't have the time to send multiple dishes back for something minor e.g. those of us needing to return to work for a meeting 2. This is local table katy. It needs to live up to the cost and all the reviews; why was today not consistent? 3. We didn't ask for a refund did we nor did you serve us; so why was it upon you to say that ear shot walking by like we don't know? Trying being aware of yourself, genius. 4. Your service to patrons are what pays your salary. At $2.15 an hour (yes, I was a waiter too) the majority of it is your service and orchestrated by the rest of the *team* to provide excellence in all you do. I recently dined at Local Table, and am always reminded why I love coming back here! The wraps and salads are always my favorite thing to get--I recommended the beef tenderloin salad or the Honey Ginger-Roasted Brussels Sprouts Salad add crispy chicken. The homemade chips are amazing as well. It's clear they put thought into their menu, offering a great balance of flavors and textures. I've visited this restaurant 3 times in the last 60 days. The food has been good and fresh every time. Appetizer wise I've had the spinach dip, crab cakes and quesadillas. Surprising the quesadillas is the best choice. Very flavorful. Entree wise I've had salads and the Anaheim chicken. The sauce! And the veggies, yea just try that! Dessert wise the carrot cake is so moist and decadent; big enough to share. The tiramisu martini was delicious as well. Drinks are typically pretty good as well except my last visit. I ordered the summer seasonal drink which I had the first day it came out before but it didn't taste the same at all. I'm thinking because they have to make each batch by hand however the alcohol used didn't seem the same because the whole taste was off opposed to just measurements. Also the second time around it was served with tajin which I'm just not a fan of. The server offered to redo but he clearly just dumped it in another glass because it was tajin inside the drink but not on the rim. Other than that service is pretty good from the time you walk in there's like 3 ppl at the front. 2 hostesses and usually a manager. Servers are mostly knowledgeable about the menu and can offer you a few suggestions. I already have 2 things on my list to try out next. read more

Our server greeted us, brought us water and answered the questions that we had. We chose an outside table because it wasn't too hot and there were coverings over the table. We ordered an appetizer, raspberry mimosa carafe, and two entrees. Appetizer: Cast-Iron Baked Goat Cheese Dip topped with crumbled candied walnuts and dried apricots, crushed red pepper, served with toasted baguette. The dip was okay in my opinion. Drinks: Raspberry Mimosa Carafe. Good, kinda sweet but it was refreshing. Entrees: Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict and Texas Toast Egg Sandwich. Now I ordered the egg sandwich and it was not it. Very basic sandwich with no flavor. The sandwich was served with fresh fruit and herb-roasted new potatoes. When I say the potatoes were flavorLESS, believe me. Mine were also baked very hard. No go. Our waitress was great and provided us ketchup/salt/pepper. I added pepper but that was not helpful. My friend said that the crab cakes benedict did its job, but she did not love it. I also ordered a few drinks and the drinks were also good. The only drink I wouldn't order again was the pineapple margarita. It was too sour for my taste. I also had the potato soup which had good flavor, but I don't like big chunks of potato in my soup. This was the first time we've been here since this location was a Luby's. It's really cool to see how they've kept some elements the same and changed the rest. The staff was very friendly and we had a few managers come by and check on us during our meal. The outside play area is a smart idea, but having broken toys isn't. While I understand that it could get expensive replacing broken toys, it may be a better idea to get toys that don't break. All of the outdoor seating was very convenient. The food was good. My kiddos had a burger and pasta and my wife and I both had salads. The salads were great and adequately coated in dressing, which is abnormal for many restaurants. The kabobs are what did us in this time. In past I've ordered things like short rib and really had to cut it, this should be a dish that just falls apart it's so tender. I have been watching people post about this spot on the Katy fb page for a while so we decided to give it a shot. Plenty of parking. We were greeted when we walked in and sat immediately. Our waitress was very attentive. We ordered side cars of course. They did not have Hennessey so they substituted it. We did not like it. The manager actually went to the bar next door and got some Hennessey to make it right. That gave them sooo many cool points. The side car was great after that. I ate at Local Table in Katy with my family for the first time a few years ago, and we had a great experience. I ordered the organic tricolor quinoa salad, which is "turmeric-roasted zucchini, broccoli, red bell pepper, red onion, cauliflower, lentil, lemon zest, and roasted garlic vinaigrette" on top of kale. It was so flavorful with all of the unique components. You also have the option to add grilled shrimp, grilled salmon, or mixed kabob for an extra charge. What impressed all of us the most was how fresh everything was! We shared the carrot cake for dessert, and it was delicious. I would consider coming by in the future just to pick up a slice to go. My only complaint was that the prices were a bit expensive. We plan to come back for another casual dinner in the future! I would really like to try their hummus and gyro wrap. read more

Love this place usually but must say since it doesnt seem to be sinking in to the waiters what we are saying...The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich is a joke. Where's the meat? We first ordered this months ago and it was fantastic. Three orders later (we keep trying) we keep getting barely any meat. And today most the end of the sandwich roll had nothing. What gives? We told the waitress beforehand to please make sure there is a decent amount of meat on the sandwich to which she said they "measure" the meat and so it's the same every time. We told her that months ago it was much more and she 'corrected' us saying its always 'measured.' For one, we are not idiots, the sandwich has been downgraded and we know what it was originally. Something's off here. We know times are hard, but just take it off the menu if you can't make a decent Philly or cant afford the meat. Sorry for the rant but we have kind of had it. Local Table is the perfect restaurant for a casual dinner date. The patio seating is great to escape the noise of the inside and when the temps aren't too high, it really feels like private dining when there's not too many people there. We opted to have our own drinks made rather than choose something off the drink menu. The Anaheim grilled chicken is a very flavorful dish. The vegetables were fresh and tasty and the basmati rice was perfectly made. I didn't taste any of my wife's Southern Chicken-Fried Chicken but it won her approval. The green beans looked just as perfect as my basmati rice and at the end of the meal, both our plates were empty.
