    Bruschetta

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant. We wanted Italian food and the reviews and photos looked good. We had a very nice dinner and the service was very attentive. The ambiance is okay, neither upscale nor romantic. It is a great family restaurant. We both started with a glass of wine, bruschetta, and the artichoke hearts. My husband also had a house salad which he enjoyed. Everything was very good. My husband ordered the veal Saltimbocca and I had the veal piccata. Each entree was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley of carrots, zucchini and broccoli. The veal was tender and delicious and vegetables were cooked perfectly. We cleaned our plates. We ended with a piece of the lemon cake and it was fresh, moist, and delicious. We will return.

Let me start off by saying the food here is DELICIOUS!!!!! I highly recommend the carpaccio if you haven't tried it. Or, if you're like me, you can order it every time you go to Fratello's. Everything I've had is so tasty, even the drinks. They have a great Chianti as well. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. But the food....did I mention the food is delicious? 10/10 recommend!!

    Tiramisu (5/5)

Located in the heart of downtown Livermore, Fratello's Ristorante is easily accessible with plenty of parking right across the street. My review is based on our Valentine's Day experience, which featured a prix fixe menu at $60 per person. This included a glass of sparkling wine, a choice of soup (broccoli or lobster bisque) or salad (Caesar or spring mix), an entrée (salmon aurora, short rib, steak, sea bass, or lobster ravioli), and tiramisu for dessert. I ordered the lobster bisque (1/5), the steak (2/5), and tiramisu (5/5). My partner had the same selections except for the entrée, choosing the sea bass instead, which unfortunately came with mushy risotto. While the food was hit or miss, the service was outstanding. The staff was attentive and made the evening enjoyable despite the underwhelming meal. After reading other reviews, we're looking forward to returning to try their full menu, as it seems their regular offerings may be a better representation of what they have to offer.

We used to go to Fratello's at the old location, and frequently did takeout. We're very pleased with the new location (despite still missing Anita's!) and finally made it over there. The interior was bright and uncluttered, with the booths replaced by tables. Some of the murals are still there. We were happy to see the old crew there, and service was very quick and friendly. I still really like their bread and oil/vinegar combo. The Wife had a chicken dish, and I noticed that they had a scampi dish, but not entree, so I asked them about making me a scampi with linguine, which they did. And it was really well done, shrimp perfectly cooked. The lemon cake was as good as always, and the creme brulee was excellent. Nice pour for my montepulciano. We'll be back.

This restaurant has absolutely fabulous food! It looks deceiving from the outside because of the curtains in the windows being closed. It would be wonderful if they can advertise with a big sign or something to bring attention to that place. They have a great selection of food. They make their own sangria. The service was great! Definitely try it out. You won't be disappointed.

    Definitely not worth $60 Overpriced!!

Decided to try their New Location for dinner tonight, . ( To Go Order ) TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!! We ordered The Lasagna and Seafood Ravioli Very small serving size and expensive!! Servings per meal were a child size portion. The Seafood had maybe 5 small raviolis and 3 shrimp ??? The Lasagna had one inch of sauce and little meat and maybe a sprinkle of cheese, because I could barely taste it. They did give a GENEROUS bag of BREAD ... Additionally you have to pay extra if you use a Card, rather than Cash! The food wasn't that bad, but way overpriced!! I definitely wouldn't return!!

Don't trust these posted hours. Call first and make sure they are actually open.

My first visit was for lunch on Monday, December 2. Their website indicates they are open at 11:30 am on Mondays. Got there at 11:45. Temporary paper sign on the door indicated they were closed that particular Monday for some reason, who knows. Thanks, got in the car and headed for another restaurant. Decided to try again on Monday, December 23 at 11:30 am. The door was locked, the lights were off, and no one was inside. Lovely. Called their number and just got their answering machine. Waited a few minutes and then left for another restaurant. Obviously, this is a little family restaurant and if you don't want to work on a particular day that you are suppose to be open, you just don't go to the restaurant to open. Very professional. If I ever want to try this restaurant again, seems unlikely, I will definitely call and make sure someone is actually at the restaurant and the restaurant is actually open. Don't trust their website hours. Maybe their food is the greatest, but I never got a chance to try it since they weren't open on both of my attempts; however, I do thank them for wasting my time. Very courteous and very professional.

Went here for dinner and absolutely loved all of our food. We also got the appetizer of calamari and beef carpaccio, so delicious!! But I forgot to take a picture. They are a newly opened restaurant, it was wine and beer only for now they said. The ambiance could use a little help, but the staff and service were excellent, and the food to die for! Definitely give it a try.

Came yesterday with my family, it was my first time visiting this restaurant. Overall had a good experience and the food was good for the most part not mind blowing but not bad either! I enjoyed the caprese salad and the bruschetta bread both of those were great and highlights of my meal here for me. They both could have used more olive oil/vinegar but the waiter gave us two dishes of olive oil/vinegar so we were able to add on to it which gave it a nice finishing touch! The caprese was my included salad with my dish. The complimentary bread was good but nothing crazy, sort of crunchy. For my main I got "Risotto con pollo e Salsiccia" because I saw a photo of it on Yelp and it looked really good in the pic. It was a bit watery and didn't have a lot of flavor overall. The water gave us some Parmesan and red pepper flakes so those helped the dish. I wouldn't order it again but was still good enough to finish. My mom really enjoyed the veal Marsala so maybe I just ordered not the stand out dish. My dad and brother liked their dishes too. The Creme brûlée was delicious and they added fresh strawberries on top too! That was probably another part I really enjoyed here! Both waiters were helpful and quickly brought us our dishes as well as coming throughout the meal to refill our water and wine glasses which was wonderful. Our main waiter even opened the door for us when we left which was very kind. The waiters here were lovely and made the experience nice! I'd be down to give it another shot and maybe try other dishes next time, however I think there's better Italian food in the area. But maybe I just picked the wrong main dish, cause the rest of the food the caprese, the bruschetta and Creme brûlée were fantastic! I know a lot of people said to get reservations but I think we still would've been ok without one. Lots of seats and some cute paintings on the wall here too. Lots of parking outside as well.

Tucked away off the 580, Fratello's is an exceptional restaurant that's perfect for a quality meal in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The music plays at a perfect level and transpires you to a far away land. The interior is dim and tables dark, so you get a sense of elegance. The menu provides a wide variety of choices. Wait staff is very friendly and welcoming (Outstanding job Oscar!) Quality of food was great! I can't wait to go back... I want to try everything! Artichoke appetizer was super scrumptious, enjoyed soaking up the sauce with the complimentary focaccia. Pork Marsala was tender and flavorful. Veggies that accompanied it where cooked perfectly: still had crunch and weren't mushy. My most favorite part is that the checks are hand written... nostalgic:)

We arrived around 7:45 PM, with closing at 8:30 PM. The server outside did not seem happy to see us, and once inside there was no greeting or anyone to seat us. I had to go back and ask for a table. Throughout the evening, the owner or hostess also made us feel like our late arrival was an inconvenience. The one bright spot was our server. He was welcoming, never rushed us, and even surprised our daughter with a complimentary birthday dessert after learning we were celebrating. That thoughtful gesture was the highlight of the evening. The food was just average. The capellini was especially disappointing, as it was bland and lacked flavor. Overall, nothing we ordered really stood out. Between the average food and the unwelcoming atmosphere, this is not a place we would return to, despite the excellent service from our server

An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration in Downtown Livermore!…read more We came to Locanda Wine Bar in downtown Livermore on a Friday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday with friends, and we had an absolute blast! The vibe here is lively, fun, and vibrant. Reservations are definitely highly recommended since it gets so popular. The entire staff is awesome, but a massive shout-out goes to our waitress, Ashley--she was fantastic and provided incredible service throughout the entire night! We ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, and every single one was a hit: * Fritto Marechiaro: A wonderful mix of fresh calamari, jumbo prawns, sliced zucchini, and artichoke hearts. Everything was fried to a light, crispy perfection and paired wonderfully with the signature Locanda Capri sauce. * Pane e Olive: Crisp, fresh baguette from local Wingen Bakery served alongside Locanda's classic olive tapenade. Rich, savory, and the perfect starter bite. * Fiori di Zucca: Delicate zucchini blossoms stuffed with creamy ricotta and mozzarella, served over a rich marinara sauce. These were absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth. * Penne alla Vodka: Tender penne pasta tossed with smoked mozzarella, Parmesan, and cracked pepper in a rich, creamy vodka pink sauce. Yummy and comforting! * Parmigiana di Melanzane: Mamma Carmela's famous eggplant parmigiana layered with melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. Hearty, warm, and bursting with authentic Italian flavor. * Pollo Piccata: Tender organic chicken breast served in a bright, zesty lemon-butter sauce with Sicilian capers, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and rainbow baby carrots. * Branzino Locanda: Fresh Mediterranean seabass filet lightly breaded with panko and topped with a bright lemon sauce, served with velvety mashed potatoes and rainbow baby carrots. Delicately crispy on the outside and wonderfully flaky inside. * Polpette della Mamma: Homemade beef meatballs cooked to tender perfection, served in a rich marinara sauce with Parmesan cheese and crisp crostini for dipping. Warm, comforting, and packed with flavor. * Beet Salad: A crisp, refreshing mix of wild baby arugula, mixed greens, sweet golden and red beets, tangy goat cheese crumbles, and juicy blood orange slices. * Espresso Martini & Wine: The drinks were top-tier. The espresso martini was amazing, bold, and perfectly balanced. We also ordered a bottle of Collefasani Bacchanalia Falerno del Massico Bianco D.O.C., which was served perfectly chilled--crisp, refreshing, and not too sweet. * Almond Cheesecake: For dessert, we treated ourselves to the almond cheesecake. It was rich, creamy, and served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream--the ideal sweet note to wrap up the night. Overall, it was a fantastic evening filled with great energy, outstanding hospitality, and incredible food. I highly recommend Locanda Wine Bar for a celebration, a night out with friends, or a memorable family meal!

Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good.
