We got Lochland's to go on a Saturday afternoon. I only stopped in to get our food, but the place looked great. There's not a ton of parking, but it's definitely worth a visit. Our food was ready to go when I arrived and was hot and fresh when we reached our destination. I had the German schnitzel for my entree with fries, but I was also able to try the shepherd's pie and grilled chicken sandwich. The schnitzel was fried crispy but was not greasy. The herbed green sauce was too herby for me and I didn't think it was the best compliment for the fried pork loin. The loin itself was tender but needed salt and pepper. I would get this again but would get another sauce. The chicken sandwich was good but not great. Again, like the loin, it needed more seasoning. The bacon was above average, if you added a sauce or dressing it would really dress this sandwich up. What saves Lochland's from a 3 star review was the shepherd's pie. I probably should have ordered it myself when the 2 Dallas residents whose house we visited both ordered it. This was an excellent version of a classic dish. It's not re-inventing the wheel: this is not a fancy shepherd's pie with a bunch of different ingredients. It's the standard: beef, peas, carrots, onions, potatoes, and brown gravy. Comfort food at its finest. Was very good and everyone (3 of the 6 people eating) that got it loved it. I'd absolutely get this again. read more

We absolutely love Lochland's. My wife and I visited the first week it opened and had a great meal. The fish and chips and schnitzel are great. Unfortunately, shortly have they opened, the COVID19 shut down happened. We didn't want to see this place hurt so we ordered to go fairly often. The flavor of the to-go order was great and the staff was very friendly every time we ordered. My favorite menu item is the schnitzel. However, the burger is great with dragon cheddar and truffle fries. The new patio is also a great addition! read more

Went on a weekend afternoon and had Great service! Ordered the fish and chips and tasted exactly how it was supposed to but I realized I just don't like fish and chips. My husband loved it though. It definitely has a louder sports bar vibe but I would feel comfortable bringing my 4 year old during the day but probably not for dinner at night. I did think it was a little pricy for the atmosphere so that's why I deducted one star. read more

The last time I came here, several years ago, they had a loud "band" playing CDs Sunday afternoon. I have avoided it like the plague. Today, I thought I'd give it another try. No band. Ordered the shepherds pie. Bone dry with no broth or gravy. I asked for some gravy and they brought me bbq sauce. When I complained, the prickly woman who was upset that I didn't like the food, turned out to be the owner's wife. She asked me to include her in the review. I got the Lochland's Burger and my wife got French Toast and potato cakes. Burger was ordered medium and it lacked flavor and was pretty dry. Ordered a side of smoked tomato ranch and glad I did as I had to add to the burger. My wife loved the French toast, but did not care for the texture of the potato cakes. read more

I've been to Lochland's twice this week!! Once with a girlfriend & once with my husband. We allllll got the VEGAN shepherd's pie. Both times we started with the hand cut fries that are sprinkled with fresh minced garlic (huge portion.) Sooooooo good! It was packed tonight but the staff was awesome while we waited for a table to open up - trolling the room for us, looking for a space. The service was fast (but not too fast) and the food was hot. Generous portions, knowledgeable staff. Several cocktails can be made alcohol free. Also - no children allowed in the evening! Big bonus for some of us. But they are welcomed during the day and they even have a child's size vegan burger. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it's really loud. But tonight for some reason it contributed to the overall vibe. read more

A great place near the L streets. I was looking at it every time I drive by and I finally got in to have my brunch. The place is very nicely laid out. I am looking forward to check it out again night time. I ordered a Florentine and my partner ordered pancakes. The food was decent when compared to what we have close by. The waitress was in a little bit in a rush. I did not see a lot of people which only makes me feel that they might be short of people. I'd give 5 stars because I had the most beautifully delicious eggs Benedict I'd ever had. The second time I ordered, the eggs were wet and untrimmed. I could live with the second but not watery eggs that diluted the hollandaise sauce. I was starving of would have sent it back. I'll go back. Great Sunni salad, burgers, breakfast potatoes and more. We went for opening night, last night. The inside of the place is nicely decorated and tons of seating. Seating is open. Tons of TVs. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our waitress brought out drinks and food in a timely manner. We started with the fried mushrooms with a type of horseradish sauce. It was good, maybe the batter needs a little more seasoning but it was good. We then had a Reuben sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was very well made and good! We also had a cheese board with 3 cheeses, grapes, raisins, apples, crackers and the (best) toast points. All the food was hot when delivered and fresh. Ask for the drink menu, I was surprised they had speciality cocktails. The beer menu was extensive. Patio is large with one TV and will be awesome once it gets warmer. I was really excited about Lochland's as it's right around the corner. Their cocktails are all I go for, if I stop by again. First time in, we ordered the spicy flatbread and seemed okay at that point in time but destroyed my stomach later. Second chance I ordered their Shepard's Pie, our waitress was completely raving about. Food was delivered and said the plate was super hot- so be careful. Although the top was hot, the center of the pie was ice cold. Completely turned me off as I thought it was fresh to order. They insisted to redo the plate, but I was too turned off to let them "warm it up." Giving them 3 The waitstaff was very friendly and laidback. I like the concept of Lochland's and was very excited as I was a frequent to Capital Pub, but overall I think they lost their touch here. I might return -- maybe third time's a charm. read more

Great place and great outdoor patio. They also have a mean happy hour. We have tried most of their appetizers and they were all good. Love the green beans and dip these come with. Lots of great cocktails to choose from on HH too! The staff are wonderful and very accommodating. Last night we were there and a guy helped us with starting up the heat lamp even though it wasn't even that cold. Our server G was way cool too. We have had the reuben and the fish and chips before, the chips were awesome though when one batch came out they were not that warm so they quickly made us another batch that were perfection. The reuben was also delicious and I had a whole half sandwich to take home. And I can eat. Highly recommend this gem of a place. read more

Discovered this gem during the pandemic. It's grown, they've added a patio area. My favorites are the shepherds pie and the Reuben. The shepherds pie is best described as a warm your tummy comfort dish. The stout brined corned beef takes their Reuben to another level. One of my neighborhood favs! Lochland's is right down the block from me and has become an East Dallas hotspot. Consistently great service, amazing food and an overall great ambiance. They opened back in February right before Covid and have been amazing about online ordering and recently opened back their dining room with Saturday and Sunday brunch. Plenty of outdoor patio seating and easy to walk-in without worrying about reservations. I went with a friend for dinner tonight and was welcomed by their very friendly staff. Love the pub atmosphere and Guinness signage throughout the bar. Feels like the place where everyone knows your name! Our server Hunter was amazing!!! Overall it's very clean and covid compliant. All guests wore masks walking into the restaurant and to use the restroom. They have a cube QR reader (pictured and clever) but also offer a paper menu to guests that prefer it. I had the Lochland's burger with dragon cheddar and fries alongside a cup of AMAZING avocado jalapeño soup. I believe the burger is a beyond meat vegan patty and I was asked how I liked it prepared and cooked which I appreciated. It was delicious! The buttery, soft bun melted in my mouth and the burger tasted like a beef burger along with a great charbroiled texture. The fries were super crunchy and plentiful. The dragon cheddar was great and had a slight sizzle of heat. And the avocado soup was TO DIE FOR!!! Hot temperature wise and a tad kick of spice. Rich and creamy. Highly recommend this neighborhood favorite and they even have a drive-in movie night with classics which helped them stay creative during the pandemic and guests can pull into the parking lot and order food to their car. The owners are visible at the restaurant and roll up their sleeves to serve their guests and ensure the utmost experience. Zero complaints on my end and highly recommended!
