And the waitress was not apologetic nor took into account how long we waited for. The food was not good as well, I ordered French toast with sausage by the way I received bacon rather than what I actually ordered. The hash browns must have been frozen and still had water in them cooked in oil so was a combination of water and oil. Eggs were good, bacon was not crispy but ok. The shrimp and grits were awful. More like soup. Since hash browns are included in several dishes one would think they would do them proper. And the two scrambled eggs must have been the tiniest eggs you can buy. I gave two stars for the atmosphere and service. I would not recommend or return. read more

Went today for lunch and discovered there would be a 45 minute wait for food. We decided to wait for a table to be able to try their food. We were seated outside in a glider table on the patio. Absolutely lovely view of the water. It was a beautiful day to eat outside. We were waited on by a nice young lady named Carly. She was quite helpful and friendly. I ordered the Eye Opener and my friend ordered the steak and eggs. Our food arrived fairly quickly. The eye opener was alright. Nothing super special. The tomato was very raw still even though it was cooked on a grill. The texture was unpleasant. I got it with the home fries which were not very well cooked. All in all a very unmemorable meal. His steak was cooked to the medium he order and he enjoyed it. But the service was very nice. read more

My husband and I should've guessed that the place was sketchy when we stepped into an empty restaurant during prime dinner hour. The server--young lady with straight blond hair, didn't introduce herself--was indifferent and seemed more interested in talking with the staff at the bar than serving. Food was meh. Not worth the price. The entire ambiance was cold and lonely feeling. A real shame, it's a pretty-looking restaurant without a soul. We are relative newcomers to Chesapeake and we've been trying places that advertise good seafood--this ain't it. We won't try it again. read more

The first time I went to Lockside was Friday, Aug 16th. for my birthday weekend. I had dinner and it was good. I found out they had breakfast and took my boyfriend to a birthday breakfast. This was Sun. Aug 25th. I ordered the Lockside Benedict. Crab cakes poached eggs on top of English muffins with hollandaise sauce. It sounds amazing, but sadly, it was not. Those were not crabcakes. They were either catfood cakes or tuna. Definitely not Crab. I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend had the steak and eggs. It was ok, but I couldn't understand why we had to ask for condiments like salt, pepper, steak sauce,ketchup, etc.. but the table right behind us who I overheard had ordered almost the same thing we did but that couple didn't have to ask for anything . We came here for late dinner at 9ish pm. We were seated right away. We didn't know there are swing sets that u can sit on to eat! That was nice because it's nearby water- we couldn't see the water because it was late in the evening. We had calamari, crab dip, and avocado salad (it was delicious) plus a couple of flounders entrees! My son had fish and chips - he usually gets fish and chips when it's on the menu! Decided to check out Lockside because a friend lived nearby and overall it was a good experience. It is a casual, laid back vibe- a great place to hang out outside with some friends and orange crushes. There's the restaurant side and then the bar side, both with plenty of outdoor seating, one fire pit area, and an area with corn hole, jenga, and giant connect four. We were greeted by two really friendly hosts and our server was great too. The food wasn't anything spectacular which is why it doesn't get a 5-star review from me. I judge a seafood place by their oysters and it just didn't hit the mark for me. My friends also didn't enjoy how their crushes were made. Maybe I'll try other menu items next time, but I will probably be back anyway because of how great the service and ambiance was. read more

I am appalled at the food that came out today. We have gone there several times and it is typical bar food. Greasy and edible. Today, it was beyond terrible. They were out of most of the food because of a "party" in the back and what did come out was barely edible. Barely. The server was decent but after 20+ minutes, we got a server that wasn't even our server. Took us an hour and a half to get our food/eat. Came here on a whim of "he said, she she said" about $5 burger Monday's...and he & she were absolutely correct! This restaurant is a pretty decent size with seating outside that I'm sure looks nice. There weren't any menus or signs about this deal but it's real. They also have a happy hour with reasonable times throughout the week. The $5 deal is only on the classic burger that comes with fries and additional add-ons for an additional price. Luckily, they had a black bean burger as a vegetarian option (I assume they do not have turkey burgers). Was a little apprehensive because black bean burgers aren't always the best but theirs? If you see me here every Monday, don't say ANYTHING to me! The black bean burger was so delicious and adding mayo on the buns took it to the next level. Also loved how crispy the fries were. All in all, this was such a great meal and my check only ended up being $5.58. The jack cheese was a little weird to me, but it served its purpose and was good. Wait staff was nice and made sure to check in on us, especially keeping our water cups full. I had made reservations, we were seated right away As a part of 3 for lunch. Menus and drink menus were given to us, and a drink order was taken right away. We ordered when our drinks came. Very little time to actually receive our individual orders. I had a hamburger patty with cheese & tomato well done with a side of fries. Another person in the party had the Cesar wrap, and the 3rd person ordered the Club Sandwich. We all enjoyed the service, our friendly attentive waitress, the food, the sides and our drinks. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the restaurant was clean as was our table and booth seating. This was not my first time eating at the restaurant, I have always enjoyed eating here and the service has always been exceptional. Lockside is definitely more of a lunch/dinner restaurant but they offer breakfast and that's what I decided to have today. Not very busy at 8AM on a weekday, so I sat at the bar. Only one waitress covering the whole place this morning and she was definitely moving around. Refilling coffee, getting orders, getting checks, she was definitely working hard. With my coffee this morning, a feta and spinach omelet. Cooked properly and well filled, it was quite tasty. I'm still doing a keto diet, so no carbs. I skipped out the toast and the home fries for sliced tomatoes. Lockside also had some hot sauce so I was able to skip the ketchup too. A bit fancy for an easy breakfast, but I'm worth it. Service: Hostess staff - yes it is a staff - of several bored young ladies. I made the mistake of asking for a table after following my silent, stone-faced hostess to a booth. I got the exasperated eye roll in response, but she did lead us to a table before tossing down a pair of menus and rushing back to her phone. Food: The Lockside Giant Burrito was about the size of a large egg roll. Had to sent it back on principle. They took my little burrito away & offered to take it off the bill, but I would have preferred some acknowledgment. Are all the Giant burritos tiny? Is the baby burrito just a popular prank that I am unaware of? Couldn't you just ask the cook to make one bigger, like the menu describes? I'll never know. They also have an outdoor bar and swing seating. Order a peach ring with the Ches Bay (crab cake sandwich). The Ches Bay was seasoned well but didn't have any type of sauce on it. Asked for a side of tartar sauce to have a little something on it. Best part of the sandwich was that it was made with real crab meat and not packed with fillers. The peach ring was good and strong. Very disappointed. They have avocado toast on the menu for $14. I asked for no onions. It came out covered with onions. I nicely sent it back. Then, the "toast" was a piece of white bread, not toasted. I didn't say anything. The avocado had zero seasoning so it was very bland. It was served over greens with no sauce or dressing offered.
